The U.S. Army annouced it will charge U.S. Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl with desertion despite the White House calling him a hero last May. refers to Bergdahl’s release last year in exchange for five individuals
held by the U.S. government at Guantanamo Bay. Then a private, Bergdahl
went missing from his base in 2009. He was formally charged with
desertion earlier this week.
