New York machete stabbings at Hanukkah event in rabbi's home result in 5 wounded: reports  . . . Rottenberg was leading a candle lighting ceremony for the seventh night of Hanukkah when the assailant barged into the house around 10pm and began stabbing people.The attack appeared to be the latest in a string targeting Jews in the region, including a massacre at a kosher grocery store in New Jersey earlier this month.

“The rise of anti-Semitism is not just a Jewish problem, and certainly not just the State of Israel’s problem,” he said in a statement. “We must work together to confront this evil, which is raising its head again and is a genuine threat around the world.”
