"Elliott was a major Democratic donor, whom Gov. Andy Beshear considered a close friend. And police officer Nicholas Wilt, 26, is now in critical condition after being shot in the head.
"The gunman was also killed in the shooting, but it is unclear if he died from a self-inflicted wound or from injuries he sustained as he exchanged gunfire with officers at the scene.". . .

"Authorities have identified the assailant in a Monday morning shooting as a 23-year-old Connor Sturgeon, who worked at the Old National Bank where the incident took place.
"At least four people were fatally shot and nine others have been injured. The suspect died in an exchange of gunfire with police.
"Nine victims received treatment at Louisville hospital, three of whom are in critical condition and among them one officer. Three more are in non-critical condition and three have been released, authorities confirmed in a press conference.
"Officer Nicholas Wilt, 26, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and remains in critical condition. He graduated from the academy on March 31. Another officer was struck in an exchange of gunfire.
"Among the dead are Tommy Elliott, 63; Jim Tutt, 64; Josh Barrick, 40; Juliana Farmer, 57.
"The incident began at about 8:30 a.m., roughly the time authorities said they started receiving calls about shots being fired.
"The department tweeted after 10 a.m. that the suspected lone shooter was deceased, placing the total number of deaths at five.". . .
