Pritzker: I'll require Section 8 Housing in every Illinois suburb

DuPage Policy Journal

"Section 8 housing was built near our subdivision in a major California city. What ensued was a massive crime wave in our neighborhood. Homeowners had to to install bars on windows and doors and children were restricted from playing outside. Even adults became fearful of walking their pets after dark." Comment

Democrat Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker will push for state laws that mandate Illinois communities allow building of unlimited “Section 8” and other taxpayer-subsidized apartment units on any residential lot.

Pritzker unveiled his suburban Section 8 plan during his annual State of the State address, which he gave Wednesday.

Taking aim at single family homeowners in the Chicago suburbs, Pritkzer said their “shameful” opposition to taxpayer-subsidized Section 8 apartments are responsible for driving up the cost of Illinois housing.

Community zoning laws “have made it too difficult and costly to build new (Section 8) housing,” Pritzker said, chiding suburban Illinoisans who oppose high-density, subsidized apartments as old-fashioned and behind the “times.”

“Often, the problem is a failure to modernize and keep up with the changing times we live in,” Pritzker said.

Pritzker will seek new laws passed by the Democrat-supermajority Illinois General Assembly that would bar Chicago suburbs from prohibiting the building of apartments on any residential lot. He’ll also seek to give another $100 million to the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), the state agency that subsidizes the building of Section 8 apartments.

Seismically, the governor’s plan would prohibit Illinois suburban communities fom requiring minimum residential lot sizes greater than 2,500 square feet, or 20 percent smaller than a standard 25 by 125 (3,125 square foot) City of Chicago lot.

Pritzker’s plan would mandate that anyone could build a four-flat of Section 8 apartments on any 2,500 square-foot suburban lot in Illinois, a six-flat on a 5,000 square foot lot and an eight-flat on a 7,500 square foot lot.

Elmhurst’s minimum residential lot size is 7,260 to 9,000 square feet. Naperville’s is 10,000 square feet for single family homes.

In Glen Ellyn, minimum lot sizes range from 7,500 to 40,000 square feet, in Hinsdale they are 10,000 to 30,000 square feet and in Wheaton, 6,500 to 43,560 square feet.

In Downers Grove, the minimum lot size for new construction is 10,500 square feet.

“Zoning has been a scam”

The proposal was cheered by -subsidized developers who build and invest in apartments, and by  brokers who will grow their businesses marketing them." . . .

NFL's Chicago Bears May Bolt to Pro-Growth Indiana

"The move to Indiana is not yet final, but it sure is looking like the Bears are heading for "exit" in the exit, voice, and loyalty framework. How it will affect the team's performance and profits is an open question. Yet if the shock of one more high-profile departure helps motivate those remaining in Illinois to adopt more sensible and pro-growth policies, or elect more sensible and pro-growth politicians, it could eventually be some sort of a win."

That has been the mantra in California for decades. TD

Savannah Guthrie 'NEVER returning to Today Show' after mom's abduction nightmare as expert says forensics will snare suspect at any moment

Daily Mail Online

"Using Genetic genealogy has been successful in other cases, such as the University of Idaho killings, where Bryan Kohberger was sentenced to life for the quadruple murder."

 Also here...

Savannah Guthrie may never return to the Today Show as she continues to grapple with her mother's disappearance, insiders say.

The 54-year-old has been off air since Nancy Guthrie's disappearance on February 1 and insiders told Status News that they believe the move will be made permanent.

'There’s no way Savannah’s coming back,' an executive told the outlet. 'I can’t imagine she would even want to.'

This follows news that genetic genealogy will be used to trace any DNA inside Nancy's home - with one expert confidently stating that 'he will be identified' with the new technology and that the suspect ought to be concerned 'right now.'

Guthrie has not publicly commented on her future as an anchor, a position she held since 2012.

As insiders at the outlet prepare for her potential retirement, they stress over who to replace her with, as she's become the face of morning news.

'If you could pick one person across the span of morning TV that a show would not want to lose, it would be Savannah,' a different executive told Status News.

'Savannah was always the glue on that show, and without that, this whole paradigm of our morning anchor team as a family, that connective tissue has just been ripped out.'  . . .More

Genetic Genealogy | Sequencing   "Genetic genealogy is a field of genealogy and family history research1 that combines genealogical DNA tests and traditional genealogy methods to discover how individuals are related.

"When genetic testing first became commercially available, it was an incredibly expensive endeavor that was simply out of reach for most people. Thankfully, genetic testing has become far more affordable in recent years — in fact, you can have your entire genome sequenced for just a few hundred dollars nowadays. As a result, genealogical research has evolved to take genetic testing results in mind, which has allowed genealogy to become much more specialized and accurate.

"Practically anyone could discover a treasure trove of useful and interesting genealogic information thanks to DNA testing; however, certain people could find it especially interesting and helpful. Those who have lost contact with their biological families, such as adoptees, can use these tests to discover their birth parentage and answer questions regarding their ethnicity and biological origins. DNA testing can also be used to establish paternity in doubtful cases.

"Genetic findings are also immensely helpful in the field of medical research. Molecular genealogy, in particular, seeks to understand the patterns of inheritance that have shaped evolution for thousands of years, modifying the ways different organisms function according to changes in their DNA.2

"Genetic genealogy can also be used in criminology and law enforcement — it has even helped solve cold cases in this field. DNA samples from crime scenes can be uploaded to genetic databases to identify relatives of unknown suspects, which narrows down the search.3 After this is done, traditional genealogy methods can be used to build family trees from the matches until the most likely suspect is identified. In some cases, all it takes is for one distant relative of the suspect to upload their genetic results to genealogy sites for a case to be solved after decades of silence." . . .

FBI Director Patel: We Know Who's Bankrolling Antifa, and We're Coming for Them

 Bob Hoge – RedState

"A federal judge declared a mistrial Tuesday, but that was because the defense lawyer was wearing a politically charged T-shirt, about as dumb a thing as you could do as a trial attorney. We'll see where that goes next."

"We’ve seen the 2016 anti-Trump rallies, the 2020 George Floyd riots, and the ongoing anti-ICE protests in blue cities since President Trump started trying to clean up the illegal immigration disaster left by former President Joe Biden.

"There’s been one constant: Antifa.

"The group, whose name is short for anti-fascist, is known for their menacing black outfits, complete with masks, and their often violent behavior. They show up as if by magic the moment a demonstration breaks out, and they’re not there to keep the peace.

"But where does their funding come from? Who’s behind it?

"FBI Director Kash Patel wanted to know, so he’s been investigating it — and he says the bureau has found some answers:

FBI Director Kash Patel said Wednesday that investigators have uncovered what he described as major funding streams tied to antifa.

The revelation signaled possible new enforcement action as the bureau intensified scrutiny of left-wing violence, according to a report from the Washington Examiner.

Speaking on "The Dan Bongino Show," Patel said the FBI under President Donald Trump has been conducting a financial investigation into how demonstrations linked to the loosely organized far left movement are supported.

Trans wrestler sexually assaults female competitor

Susan Quinn - American Thinker; "Once again a beleaguered young woman is let down by her school, her coaches, law enforcement, and every other institution."

Which bathroom dare he use now?

"The latest in trans athletic outrages comes to us from Puyallup, Washington State:

During a wrestling match on December 6, Keeler competed in the 190-pound weight class against an opponent from Emerald Ridge High School. Video from the bout appears to show Keeler in visible distress. According to her testimony, the opponent, a transgender-identifying boy, forcefully inserted his fingers into her private area during a move, causing her to feel violated and disoriented. Keeler later said she allowed herself to be pinned in order to end the match and escape the situation.

‘I didn’t really know what to do or how to handle that situation. I just wanted the match to be over,’ Keeler said.

"Although Keeler’s mother filmed a video on her phone, the sheriff’s department said the evidence was inconclusive.

"But the malfeasance by the schools is deplorable. Keeler and her mother reported this attack to the Puyallup School District and to coaches; schools are required to report this type of crime within 48 hours. But the report wasn’t made for two months, and only the day after a reporter contacted the school district regarding the matter.

"Keeler feels she was twice-violated: besides the physical attack, no one told her that her competitor was a trans (biological male) woman.

"After Keeler reported the attack to her coach, the following was his response:

‘I most certainly would not put Kallie on the mat if I thought she was competing with a male,’ Keeler’s coach replied. ‘I will investigate this and look to see if we have a video on our end. I will touch base with you either this afternoon or tomorrow morning after I do my due diligence.’

However, Keeler’s family said they never heard back from the school. Additionally, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office did not receive a formal report until Jan. 30.

"Emerald Ridge High School has been overly accommodating to their trans students:" . . .

Is Olympian Hunter Hess more AIN than USA?

Noel S. Williams - American Thinker

"Maybe he’s just young and immature.  Maybe he can be redeemed before falling further into anti-Americanism."

..."At the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano, there are athletes competing without national flags, uniforms, or anthems. The designation given to them is Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN). There are about 20 of them: thirteen from Russia and seven from Belarus. There should be 21 of them — at least.
"The twenty-first AIN being from the great ol’ US of A. His name is Hunter Hess (sounds more German than American) and his ingratitude and disloyalty to America rather gets my dander up. Hess (he should change his name to the more anglicized version) is from Bend, Oregon, which is a sanctuary jurisdiction. While obliging himself to America’s beneficence, he dared to spew at a news conference that he doesn’t represent “everything that’s going on in the U.S.”
"That insubordination also got President Trump’s dander up as he took to social media, penning this: U.S. Olympic Skier, Hunter Hess, a real Loser, says he doesn’t represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics. If that’s the case, he shouldn’t have tried out for the Team, and it’s too bad he’s on it. Very hard to root for someone like this. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
"Hess had a hissy fit about his country’s (“his,” when convenient for him, that is) immigration enforcement. Fine, then take the uniform off and don’t dare wave the Stars and Stripes. You are not worthy. Even though a majority of patriotic Americans support deporting criminal illegal aliens and local cooperation with ICE, let’s concede that some may disagree with certain tactics. They may be entitled to their misguided opinions, but they should not misspeak overseas while wearing our colors. That’s more AIN than USA." . . .  More...

Why they want California ruined

Don Surber
"California’s generous homeless program attracted 187,084 homeless people to the state by 2024 (which is the latest verified data). State residents effectively legalized store theft as long as it was under $950 per visit."

"CNBC reported, “Palantir moving its headquarters from Denver to Miami.”

"The story said:

Florida, which offers a friendlier tax environment, has welcomed a wave of billionaires in recent years. The region is also gaining more executives as California deliberates over a 5% wealth tax on residents with a net worth exceeding $1 billion.

Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly bought a mansion in Florida and Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel has established a base in Miami.

Palantir, which was founded in Palo Alto, California, in 2003, previously moved to Denver in 2020. CEO Alex Karp has previously spoken out about the culture in Silicon Valley.

“Our company was founded in Silicon Valley,” he wrote in a letter in 2020. “But we seem to share fewer and fewer of the technology sector’s values and commitments.”

Other escapees from the Silicon Valley include Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the company that founded the valley in 1936 before there were silicon chips. Tesla, Oracle, Charles Schwab, Realtor.com, John Paul Mitchell System and SpaceX also self-deported to Texas.

Chevron, founded in 1879 in San Francisco as the Pacific Coast Oil Company, is loading up and moving to Houston.

That is $4.5 trillion in wealth—as measured by market caps—that California shed in recent years.

Conservatives mainly brush this off as an unintended consequence. The Heritage Foundation said:

California is already home to some of the highest taxes in the country, and another tax increase may be on the ballot this year: the “billionaire tax.” . . More...

Newsom Still Can’t Catch On - RVIVR

 . . . "California’s gasoline prices are higher because:

  • The state isolates itself with unique fuel standards.

  • It imposes layered regulatory and tax burdens.

  • It discourages refinery investment and expansion.

  • It blocks pipeline development.

  • It treats conventional energy as a transitional nuisance rather than a necessary input to modern life.

"Those policies ensure fragility. And fragility ensures higher prices." . . .

What Western Civilization Is, For The Benefit Of The Idiot Parasites Who Disparage It

  RVIVR

"Together, these elements forged the West’s singular glory: a civilization unmatched in its fusion of intellect, order, passion, imagination, perseverance, and sacred purpose, a beacon that has illuminated humanity’s highest aspirations across millennia.

"If some idiot Marxist like AOC blathers about how “Western culture is thin” or that “there’s no rich cultural heritage that goes with ‘whiteness’”, tell them this:

"Western civilization stands as a towering edifice built upon the immortal Greek Wisdom, the fountainhead of rational inquiry and human excellence. From the sun-drenched agora of Athens sprang forth the relentless pursuit of truth through philosophy, logic, mathematics, and science – Socrates’ unyielding questioning, Plato’s vision of ideal forms, Aristotle’s systematic categorization of knowledge – that forever elevated the mind above mere survival. This wisdom birthed democracy, the arts of tragedy and comedy, epic poetry, and the very standards of beauty and proportion that still define aesthetic achievement. The West is Greek Wisdom incarnate: a civilization that dares to ask “why” and “how,” refusing superstition’s chains in favor of reason’s liberating light, forging a legacy where individuals are not subjects of fate but architects of their destiny.

"Upon this intellectual foundation, the West erected Roman Order, the unparalleled architecture of law, governance, and disciplined society that turned chaotic tribes into a unified empire spanning continents. Rome’s genius lay in codifying justice – the Twelve Tables, the Corpus Juris Civilis of Justinian – establishing principles of equity, contracts, property rights, and citizenship that became the bedrock of modern legal systems across Europe and beyond. Roads, aqueducts, and legions imposed stability and infrastructure, while republican institutions and imperial administration demonstrated how liberty and authority could coexist under the rule of law rather than whim. The West is Roman Order manifest: a culture that values structure, predictability, and civic duty, transforming raw power into enduring institutions that protect the weak and restrain the strong." . . .  More...

Without Victory, There Is No Survival; Humoring nitwits sinks ships

  Ann Coulter

" . . .the men wading through freezing water looked up and saw Alex Pretti running around Omaha Beach, screaming, shouting expletives, swinging and kicking at them to block the mission. He would have been the first man in history killed by 1,000 bullets."

"How many times do Americans have to vote for Donald Trump to make the point that they want illegal immigrants deported? They voted for him in 2016, despite sheer hysteria from Democrats, the entire media, and nearly all elected Republicans. They voted for him again in 2024 by an even larger margin, with some misgivings, because he promised a mass deportation force.
"Do we have to make Stephen Miller president so you finally get the point? Is this Groundhog Day? Why do we always have to start at square one on the question of: Should we have a country?
"The open borders crowd has two counter-arguments: Virtue signaling and lying.
"First, the virtue signaling. While never so much as acknowledging the Americans brutalized, raped and murdered by illegal immigrants, the media are awash with humanizing details about “irregular migrants.”
"Apparently, it’s especially heinous for ICE to arrest an undocumented person if he or she is engaged in some “homey” activity, like “taking their dog to the vet,” or “working on their car” or “shopping for ingredients for a stew.” (Personally, I would accept that defense so long as the migrant can prove that the groceries she was purchasing were actually for a stew. Not “a roast beef sandwich,” or some kind of salad, but a bona fide stew.)." . . . More

The Ironic Curtain

Don Surber

“We do not want allies shackled by guilt and shame. We want allies who are proud of their culture and heritage, and are willing to help us defend it.” —Marco Rubio

Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s speech at the Munich Security Conference shook up the European leadership by reminding them of the dangers of communism. He did this because his grandpa, Pedro Víctor García, a refugee from Castro’s Cuba, taught him well about the dangers of communism.

"Rubio began by reminding his audience of the first Munich conference in 1963:

At the time of that first gathering, Soviet communism was on the march. Thousands of years of Western civilization hung in the balance. At that time, victory was far from certain. But we were driven by a common purpose. We were unified not just by what we were fighting against; we were unified by what we were fighting for. And together, Europe and America prevailed and a continent was rebuilt. Our people prospered. In time, the East and West blocs were reunited. A civilization was once again made whole.

That infamous wall that had cleaved this nation into two came down, and with it an evil empire, and the East and West became one again. But the euphoria of this triumph led us to a dangerous delusion: that we had entered, quote, “the end of history;” that every nation would now be a liberal democracy; that the ties formed by trade and by commerce alone would now replace nationhood; that the rules-based global order—an overused term—would now replace the national interest; and that we would now live in a world without borders where everyone became a citizen of the world.

This was a foolish idea that ignored both human nature and it ignored the lessons of over 5,000 years of recorded human history. And it has cost us dearly.

"Yes it has. Red China is the world’s largest exporter with a trade surplus that last year topped $1.2 trillion—that’s $1.2 million million. That’s an awful lot of Temu junk to peddle online." . . .

Eastern bloc nations such as Poland have embraced nationalism as a shield against the Muslim invasion and creeping communism. Italy, too, now has a leader who rejects the New World Order.

Virtually All Countries Support Voter Photo ID – So Why the Filibuster?

When voting on Tuesday I was asked for my ID; showing it, I thanked them for asking to see it. The worker graciously asking me for it was a black woman.  The Tunnel Dweller

RealClearPolitics

"Many countries in Europe and beyond have learned the hard way that fraud can result from looser voting regimes – and they have instituted stricter voting measures in direct response to it.

“The bottom line is this: voter ID is not controversial in this country,” Harry Enten, the chief data analyst for CNN, recently reported. Nor is it controversial in virtually any other country in the world. Yet despite massive support among both Democrats (71%) and Republicans (95%), only one Democratic member of the House and one in the Senate are supporting the SAVE Act. Unless seven more of the 47 Senate Democrats step forward, their filibuster will kill the bill.
"Democrats argue that requiring free voter photo IDs – even when the ID itself costs nothing – harms eligible voters by creating practical barriers to casting a ballot. They contend that blacks would be especially hard hit. Interestingly, every country in Africa requires government-issued identification to vote.
"They also argue that such requirements would disenfranchise Hispanic voters. Yet Mexicoall twelve South American countries, and Spain require government-issued photo IDs to vote.
"All of these countries have lower per-capita incomes than the United States. If citizens in those nations can obtain the necessary identification to vote, why would American Hispanics and blacks be unable to do the same?
"While 83% of American adults support requiring government-issued photo identification to vote, support is also strong among the very groups Democrats claim would be harmed: 82% of Hispanics and 76% of black Americans favor the requirement. Those figures suggest that most black and Hispanic Americans do not view obtaining a photo ID as the obstacle Democrats describe. Ten U.S. states have similarly strong photo ID requirements.
"Democrats claim that women are disproportionately disenfranchised by voter IDs, but women are also strongly supportive of IDs and have exactly the same level of support as men." . . .More...

Nancy Guthrie suspect could be identified 'in a matter of hours' as cops zoom in on DNA sites

 Daily Mail Online

"Amid mounting pressure on his handling of the investigation, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos insisted on Tuesday that the case is 'far from cold' despite no arrests being made 18 days into Nancy's disappearance."

"A suspect in the Nancy Guthrie investigation could be identified within two days amid a renewed probe into DNA evidence, a former FBI special agent predicted.

"Despite the search for the 84-year-old mother of Today Show star Savannah Guthrie nearing three weeks without any arrests, John Iannarelli said investigators may be closing in.

" 'I imagine we're going to see a fairly quick turnaround. We might even hear something within the next 24 or 48 hours,' he told Fox and Friends on Wednesday.

"On Tuesday, the investigation hit a major set-back as a glove found two miles from Nancy's home in Tucson, Arizona, failed to match suspect DNA from the crime scene or to the CODIS criminal database, shattering hopes of a breakthrough.

"But Iannarelli said the disappointment 'is not the end of the road', and said investigators have other avenues to look into in hopes of bringing the high-profile search to a close.

" 'There's been a lot of ways DNA has been developed through the other systems out there. The 23andMe, Ancestry,' he said.

" 'Any person related to that individual who left their DNA behind at Nancy Guthrie's home, if they've ever taken that test, that DNA evidence is going to be out there and it will link them to other relatives.'

"Asked how long this may take, Iannarelli said investigators may get a hit within two days, as genealogy analysis 'can be a fairly quick process because the DNA has already been tested and it's in the system.' " . . .  More...

[Performance artists] Dems Plot to Make a Circus Out of the State of the Union Address, Because of Course They Do

  RedState

No word yet if Rep. Al Green (TX-09) has any antics planned. In 2024, he ludicrously waved his cane at the president mid-speech, and was escorted out and later censured. Democratic women, meanwhile, have repeatedly worn the same color clothes, as if acting like sheep is some powerful form of protest.

Scowls from the scolds
