Ketanji Brown Jackson and the GOP show the foolishness of trying to play your opponent’s game

 Andrea Widberg

"Let me say right off the bat that I like and admire Winsome Sears. She’s a good woman. However, what she ran on was being a black immigrant woman—that is, she tried to out-Democrat the Democrats, and it didn’t work."

"One of the GOP’s great weaknesses is that it always lets Democrats define the terms of the political debate and the rules of the political game. These old-line Republicans just can’t seem to understand that this is like going to a Vegas casino: The house (or, in this case, the Democrat party) always wins.

"Trump won in large part because he refused to play by any of those rules. He didn’t let Democrat shibboleths constrain his speech, and he refused to abide by “norms” that have no other purpose than to hamstring conservatives. Thankfully, many in his cabinet also understand this.

"We’ve just had two recent examples, one from the right and one from the left, of what a mistake it is to try to beat the other side at its own game. (It can be done, but you need to be spectacularly good at it.)

"The first example, which I hadn’t really thought about before, is the Virginia gubernatorial election. That election is coming into strong focus right now because the new governor, Abigail Spanberger, who ran as a boring CIA administrative sheep, is actually a rabid Marxist wolf.

"Aided by a Democrat legislative majority, she’s intent upon turning Virginia into a Minnesota-California hybrid. The Founders, so many of whom were Virginians, are rolling in their graves, while H.L. Mencken, from his perch in the great beyond, is chortling, “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

"Spanberger is playing by her rules. She may ultimately lose, but in the short term, she’s going to get what she wants, which is a state run on Marxist lines with all guardrails against voter fraud removed. That’s how you play the game." . . .   More...

Blue Lives Matter Reveals Pro-ICE Decoy Operation With ‘Combat Veterans, Off-Duty Officers’

 Legal Insurrection

"I think it’s safe to say that Trump 2.0’s immigration enforcement operations have once and for all exposed the radical left’s America-Last priorities, with Minnesota being the current Ground Zero in the battle for the heart, soul, and future of America.

"The reports are fast and flowing in terms of what ICE and the border patrol have to go through on any given day as they seek to take criminal illegal immigrants off of our streets, with organized mobs and their sophisticated communication systems out in full force to impede the mission, goad the officers into viral confrontations, and to help the worst-of-the-worst evade justice – leaving the door wide open to future potential victimization of more innocent people.

"Here’s one of many examples:

"The same agents who put their lives on the line every day also face assaults and doxxing, and are eveI think it’s safe to say that Trump 2.0’s immigration enforcement operations have once and for all exposed the radical left’s America-Last priorities, with Minnesota being the current Ground Zero in the battle for the heart, soul, and future of America.

Homan Plans to Defy Spanberger After ‘Bond Villain’ Blocks ICE Cooperation in VA: ‘Not Going to Stop’  . . . "Tom Homan isn’t exactly known for rolling over, so of course he’s vowing to work around Gov. Spanberger’s order cutting off ICE cooperation. Democrats keep trying to kneecap enforcement, and Homan keeps reminding them he doesn’t need their permission to uphold federal law."

If The Republican Party Wants The MAGA Base To Show Up In 2026 They Better Show Up For The Base Right Now

AND Magazine; Substack

"The Democrats have not gone away. Their party is increasingly dominated by Marxists like Zohran Mamdani, who wish to destroy the republic. What just happened in Virginia with the inauguration of Abigail Spanberger as Governor ought to send chills up and down the spines of every right-thinking American."

"For years, the MAGA base of the Republican Party fought to push the America First Agenda and to return Donald Trump to the White House. Against all odds and in the face of weaponization of the justice system, manipulation of the electoral process, and the intense opposition of the so-called mainstream press, it succeeded. Americans voted for an end to the status quo, an end to the oligarchs, and a return of power to the people.

"And, now, with President Trump back in the Oval Office, we find that the MAGA agenda seems increasingly blocked. The GOP establishment seems determined to prevent meaningful change and continue business as usual in the Swamp.

"The average age of a first-time home buyer is now forty. Many Americans will never be able to own their own home. Washington seems unconcerned. There is no relief in sight.

"Consumer credit debt is crushing. President Trump wants an end to sky-high interest rates on consumer credit to help everyday Americans make ends meet. Republicans in Congress do nothing to make this a reality.

"Healthcare costs are out of control. President Trump wants a comprehensive overhaul of the system that will reduce costs and prevent sending our money to bloated insurance companies. Republicans in Congress vote with Democrats to pass an extension of Obama’s Affordable Care Act instead.

"We are a year into the new administration. There is no sign anywhere of action against those individuals who created the Russiagate hoax and attempted to depose Donald Trump as sitting President during his first term. No one has gone to jail. No one appears headed for jail.

"We were promised for years that the Epstein files would be opened for all to see and that we would finally learn the truth about this scandal. Despite continued promises to date, we have seen only a tiny portion of the documentation held by the federal government." . . .

‘Sparkle Beach Ken’ Is Too Kind To Gavin Newsom

 The Federalist

"The California governor correctly figures that if he stays on offense, his own dismal record will be ignored — even if that offense is odd."

Broc Smith

"Being Gavin Newsom means never having to explain yourself  — being able to hurl accusations and nonsensical claims with nary a follow-up from the press. Newsom’s foray into the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, is a case in point.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent took notice of Newsom loitering around Davos, quipping, “Governor Newsom, who strikes me as Patrick Bateman meets Sparkle Beach Ken, may be the only Californian who knows less about economics than Kamala Harris.” Bessent then noted that Newsom was, “here this week with his billionaire sugar daddy, Alex Soros.”

"But Newsom still made a splash.

" 'Trump,” he weirdly enthused, “Is a T-Rex; you mate with him or he devours you.”

"The California governor, widely expected to run for president in 2028 after he terms out of office this year, correctly figures that if he stays on offense, his own dismal record will be ignored — even if that offense is odd, off-putting, or oblique.

"And what a record it is, from manageable fires that burst into catastrophic wildfires due to bad policy (blamed on climate change, of course) to soaring homelessness to scores of billions of dollars in stolen government assistance, Newsom might have a lot to atone for — if the media-industrial complex decided to do their jobs.

Telling Whoppers

"Instead, Newsom makes claims that are rarely fact-checked, like his last whopper-filled State-of-the-State address on Jan. 8, in which the governor asserted, “We are not retreating. We are a beacon. This state is providing a different narrative. An operational model, a policy blueprint for others to follow.”

"In one sense, Newsom is right — California is the epitome of the progressive left operational model, the blueprint for others to follow — and, home to San Francisco and UC Berkeley, the one place where democratic socialism might first work.

"But as former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Margaret Thatcher noted, “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.” And the Constitution prohibits states from printing money, reserving that for the federal government.

"Unfortunately for Newsom, California is looking at an $18 billion deficit, $5 billion more than last June, “despite improvements in revenue,” according to the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office, which went on to note in its November fiscal outlook report that, “we estimate costs in other programs to be about $6 billion higher than anticipated… (with) structural deficits [growing] to about $35 billion annually due to spending growth continuing to outstrip revenue growth.” . . . More...

Gregg Jarrett Explains Why Don Lemon Could Still Face Charges

 Daily Caller

First this: Report: Magistrate Judge Refused to Sign Off on Charges Against Don Lemon   . . . "The FACE Act [LITERALLY] says in § 248(a)(2) that a person violates the act if they:  "by force or threat of force or by physical obstruction, intentionally injures, intimidates or interferes with or attempts to injure, intimidate or interfere with any person lawfully exercising or seeking to exercise the First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship;. . .' "

"Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett told Fox News host Sean Hannity Thursday that Attorney General Pam Bondi has multiple options to pursue charges against former CNN host Don Lemon after he allegedly stormed a church service Sunday.

"FBI agents arrested Nekima Levy Armstrong and Chauntyll Louisa Allen for their roles in storming Cities Church in St. Paul, which they allegedly targeted because a pastor at that church was an official with United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. A magistrate denied the application for an arrest warrant against Lemon. Jarrett said Lemon’s own livestream, where he explained that Armstrong was leading a “surprise operation,” was incriminating and that Bondi could go to a “real” federal judge to get an arrest warrant. (RELATED: Don Lemon Labels Parishioners Of Church Stormed By Anti-ICE Rioters ‘Entitled White Supremacists’)

“ 'Rejecting the charges against Don Lemon smells fishy to me. We may actually learn more about the magistrate’s motivation, bias and conflict of interest,” Jarrett told Hannity. “Legally, the magistrate would have to decide that these prosecutors did not meet the standard of probable cause. But personally disagreeing with the wisdom of or fairness of bringing the case, it’s not a valid ground for overriding the charging decisions. So, Sean, I thoroughly expect the DOJ to do one of two things. Either bypass that magistrate by going to a grand jury for an indictment against Don Lemon or go to a real district court judge, because a magistrate is really just a ministerial assistant. He handles misdemeanors and warrants and empties the trash cans."

“Obviously here, prosecutors felt Don Lemon was not merely an observer, recording the illegal protest inside of the church, which would be a typical journalist role,” Jarrett said. “Instead, he seemed to be a very active participant, who embedded himself with the mob, tormenting these parishioners. In fact, Lemon’s own videotape incriminates him, as he confronts the pastor with contentious questions, the same way the agitators did. And you can see and hear Lemon defending them all and taking up their cause, arguing that they are allowed to invade the church, disrupt the service, shut down worshipers, which shows a stunning ignorance of the law by Lemon.”  . . .  More...

Jennifer Welch, Irrational, Incensed, And Dangerous, Is The Democrat Party

 The Federalist

"Democrats want retribution and are increasingly uninterested in disguising it with any form of pretense about laws or morality"

"The Democrat who people most need to be paying attention to right now isn’t in Congress and isn’t expected to run for president. It’s Jennifer Welch, the gaunt, puckered up nag who hosts a popular podcast and who now proudly displays on a regular basis just how dark and decayed the left’s collective soul has become.

It’s been fairly obvious for some time that the chief aims of the Democrat Party are to crush the independent American middle class and eliminate the nuclear family. They hate both with equal passion. But until recently, generally speaking, those goals were at least disguised with lies about “climate change” and “equity” and “our democracy.” Now it’s common for Democrats to drop all pretense and simply express their hatred outright for anyone with a different political opinion.

That’s Welch, exhibiting all the distilled irrationality and sulfuric acid contained in the average modern Democrat, but without any effort to conceal or pass it off as some intense form of empathy.

On a recent episode of her podcast with former CNN actress Jim Acosta, Welch spoke for all Democrats as to what the party wants, should it take power in Congress after this year’s midterm elections. “The blue tsunami means that Congress is going to haul Elon Musk, ‘Big Balls,’ and a bunch of other people’s ass in front and say, ‘What crimes did you commit?’ and it’s going to get really serious and the same with Trump,” she said. As a reminder, “Big Balls” is the nickname of a 20-something enlisted by Musk’s D.O.G.E. effort to shrink the federal bureaucracy, and his offenses to-date include asking government employees to describe their day-to-day work life and also interfering in the attempted assault of a female pedestrian being jumped by thugs, resulting in his own hospitalization."     More...
