"Another former colleague posted an article on Facebook from some random internet site I’ve never heard of called “Raw Story,” which, I am sure, is known for its non-partisan, award-winning journalism. The title of the piece? “Evangelical church urges Trump admin to ‘execute’ LGBTQ Americans.” I chuckled to myself. No one of sound mind would take this headline seriously. But my Facebook friend’s comment on the piece was even more hysterical. “Like all the sane people in America told you. First they come for one group. Then it keeps getting bigger. As a person who had family and friends escape the holocaust. We are telling you. This is just the beginning. To those who voted for this, a big FU.” Remind me, please, how they are the sane ones.
"It takes a decent amount of self-control not to fire back at posts that are this stupid. Sometimes, I become particularly snarky and fire off a response like “OMG. I was just down on the White House front lawn and you should see the camps they are building for all the gays!” Other times, I have the urge to explain that two of Trump’s top cabinet officials are gay and that he is more liberal than conservative, particularly when it comes to social policy. However, I know any efforts to appeal to their rational mind will be futile. If they ever had one, Trump has killed it.
