The Trump-Putin Alaska Summit Is About More Than the Ukraine War

At the Alaska summit, Trump aims to press Putin for a Ukraine cease-fire, vowing “severe consequences” if Russia resists ending the war.

American Greatness

The summit might not be successful. Trump may walk away from a bad deal. But regardless of whether the summit succeeds or fails, this event is another sign of how the global leadership that President Trump is demonstrating indicates that his second term will be a historic and consequential presidency.

"Although the stated purpose of today’s Trump-Putin summit in Alaska is to discuss how to end the war in Ukraine, the meeting will also be an important demonstration of how Trump is restoring America’s leadership on the world stage and establishing himself as one of America’s most powerful and influential presidents.

"Trump’s critics predictably claim Putin manipulated him with his proposal to hold a summit to stop the crippling energy sanctions that Trump was about to impose on Russia and to buy time to continue the war.

"Putin may be planning to use the summit to manipulate Trump. If he does, I believe Trump will abruptly end the meeting and implement the energy sanctions. Indeed, Trump warned this week that there will be “severe consequences” if he determines Putin is not serious at the summit about ending the war. It is clear that in recent weeks, Trump has become increasingly angry with Putin for defying his diplomatic efforts to end the war. CNN reported on Wednesday that Trump’s anger with Putin was “palpable.”

"Given Trump’s much-reported frustration with Putin and several decisive foreign policy moves by the president during his second term, especially Trump’s decision to bomb Iran, I believe Putin realizes that Trump will react harshly against Russia if he does not come to the summit ready to negotiate an end to the war or presses for demands that Trump views as unreasonable.

"Trump is sure to encourage Putin to agree to a cease-fire. He will argue that he is the only leader on the world stage—now and in the foreseeable future—who will ever make the Russian leader a deal to halt the war that will end Russia’s isolation and restore Russia’s economy. This is consistent with Trump’s landmark speech in Saudi Arabia last May, when he said America should no longer have permanent enemies and that he wants to promote a new world order of global security through trade and prosperity.

"Trump will also discuss other global issues with Putin on which the U.S. and Russia might cooperate, such as global trade, the Israel-Hamas war, Iran’s nuclear weapons program, North Korea, Arctic energy cooperation, and terrorism. Such discussions could be part of a broader deal to begin new U.S.-Russia partnerships on global security and economic matters." . . . More...

Democrat betas think the F word will make them alphas

Bet a beta Beto is the best the boy can be.

"So, why are Democrats spouting the F word as eagerly as fourth graders who just learned it?  Several reasons. First, they’ve always been just a step from the gutter."

"There’s a Democrat in Texas (yes, really!) who lost a race for senator, and then lost a race for governor. He’s a designated loser.

"His name is Robert but he has a nickname. Since he’s proven himself not exactly an Alpha, you might assume his nickname is “Beta.”

"Close. It’s “Beto.” Beto has a lot more in common with “Beta” than with “Rambo.”

"Beto/Beta attended elite private boarding schools and then Columbia where he took a degree in English Literature. It was probably Shakespeare that taught him not to be.

"But Beto/Beta has a strategy to show his toughness and finally rise to leader of the pack. He says the F word. A lot.

"When he lost the senate race, he informed his supporters, “I’m so f***ing proud of you!” He and his supporters promptly regrouped and went on to lose the gubernatorial race.

"Offering incisive commentary on Donald Trump, he exclaimed, “What the f***?” Significantly, the object of his invective is now President; Beto/Beta is not.

"His brave response to a mass shooting was, “This is f***ed up.” Shooters everywhere scurried.

"His recent legal argument in opposition to the Texas rules requiring state legislators to, well, legislate rather than flee the jurisdiction, was, “F*** the rules!” The Democrat lawbreaking lawmakers caved yesterday. Beto/Beta fought the rules, and the rules won." . . .More...

Soros-Backed Group, Beto O’Rourke PAC Pick Up Tab For Texas Democrats’ Gerrymandering Stunt

 Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Any Democrat coward breaking the law by taking a Beto Bribe will be held accountable,” said Paxton."

Daddy Soros, Sr.

"Groups tied to billionaire megadonor George Soros and failed candidate Beto O’Rourke are picking up the tab for Texas Democrats who fled the state to block a GOP redistricting plan, according to The Texas Tribune.

"Since Sunday, dozens of Texas House Democrats have taken refuge in blue states such as Illinois to deny the state House a quorum needed to pass a new congressional map that could net Republicans up to five additional seats. The absent democrats face a $500 fine for each day they are absent, but O’Rourke’s Powered by People PAC and the Soros-backed Texas Majority PAC are covering much of the cost, according to The Texas Tribune.

"Since the Texas House Democrats fled the Lone Star State, Powered by People has directed all donations towards supporting the effort, according to the Texas Tribune. O’Rourke’s political outfit has reportedly paid for lawmakers’ expenses, including travel, including private flights, hotel rooms, meals and logistical support, a source familiar with the matter told the outlet.

"O’Rourke personally called lawmakers in recent weeks, urging them to flee the state to block the GOP redistricting efforts, The Texas Tribune reported.

"Meanwhile, the Texas Majority PAC is reportedly coordinating with national Democratic groups to court the party’s biggest donors to fund the lawmakers’ ongoing absence. The PAC is bankrolled by Soros and was founded by alumni of O’Rourke’s failed 2022 gubernatorial campaign.

"Texas Majority spent over $9 million during the 2024 election cycle, with nearly two-thirds coming from Soros, according to the Texas Tribune. Despite significant spending in the state, former Vice President Kamala Harris lost Texas to President Donald Trump by nearly 14 points in 2024, and Sen. Ted Cruz defeated Democratic Rep. Colin Allred by 8.5 points." . . .

They control the streets and do whatever they want, when they want. Jews in Toronto no longer feel safe in their own city as they endure constant harassment, see their schools shot up, synagogues and shops vandalized, and are even shunned by the mayor who didn’t attend the one-year anniversary of the murderous pogrom that saw more than 1,200 Jews and internationals slaughtered and many more taken hostage." . . .

MSNBC's Morning Joe Had the Best Line for Dems Defending the Indefensible Over Trump's D.C. Takeover

 Townhall

"Every liberal journalist excoriating Trump taking charge of D.C. safety is secretly thrilled they won't get carjacked anymore. They see it as their job to lie about what they know is true because they're Democrats and the truth is bad for their side politically. It's so gross." Batya Ungar-Sargon

"MSNBC’s Morning Joe is the lookouts on the Titanic: they see the iceberg but can’t do anything to alter the collision course. That’s the Democratic Party. I think most know their agenda sucks, but they hate Trump so much, or they’re bullied into taking these awful public policy positions, lest they risk having the wrath of the progressive Left bear down on them. The party is now defending crime. They’re booing law enforcement in D.C., who are trying to make the city safer.

Due to rising crime, President Trump federalized the D.C. police force and deployed the National Guard. Co-host Mika Brezinski had the best line to describe the Democrats’ antics during this circus: “It’s a trap.”

Prior, former host Chris Matthews torched liberals for defending the indefensible here: you cannot say crime is down, but the homicide rate is up. The party has yet to learn, incredibly, from their 2024 mistakes, which is telling people what they see isn’t actually happening. How about you guys stop peddling crap agenda items?

The reactions have been insane and oozing with elitism and fake news. Oh, and it doesn't help when even MSNBC reporters admit DC isn't safe." . . .

Murder in D.C.: There’s a New Sheriff in Town

 Richard Blakley - American Thinker

"Knowing people who have young adults in their family who previously received invitations to work as interns at the White House, when 21-year-old intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym was murdered on June 30, it was alarming.  The crime happened just a mile from the White House.  Investigators stated several individuals exited a vehicle and began firing shots at a group of people, striking and killing Eric and shooting a 16-year-old male and adult female, who both survived.

So far in 2025, 91 people have been killed in Washington, D.C.  That is a murder every 2.5 days since January 1.

While the FBI are assisting the Metropolitan Police Department in the investigation of Eric’s death, and a $40,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killers, there are no suspects and no one has been arrested.

Eric’s mother harshly criticized Washington, D.C.’s electeds, saying residents “are not being protected,” and she feels the D.C. council treats violent crime like a “joke.”  She stated, “this isn’t a joke anymore.  People are getting killed.  I don’t care what color you are.  I don’t care if you have money or not.”

Former homicide Detective Ted Williams stated,

Drive-by shootings are always very difficult to resolve.  And yet, there are a lot of individuals who know a great deal, …and some of these individuals, these witnesses, actually know who the shooters are.  But because of the intimidation factor here in the District of Columbia, you will find that these individuals will remain silent.

In addition to murders, beatings frequently occur in D.C.  One recent example is the merciless assault of Edward Coristine, the ex-DOGE teenager known as “Big Balls.”  Elon Musk wrote on X stating,

A few days ago, a gang of about a dozen young men tried to assault a woman in her car at night in D.C.  A @Doge team member saw what was happening, ran to defend her and was severely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her.  It is time to federalize D.C.

Could Trump End War in Ukraine During Meeting With Putin?

Victor Davis Hanson   "We don’t have a very good history of summits. And many summits—as you remember, in March of 2017, Antony Blinken, the Biden secretary of state, and Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser, met with their Chinese communist counterparts. And they were dressed down and humiliated and really didn’t say anything. And what followed then from that was further Chinese aggression toward Taiwan, the Chinese balloon, etc. So these summits are very important." . . .

. . . "One thing that we’re not hearing from the Left and the Never-Trump Right is that Donald Trump is a “Putin asset,” a “Putin puppet.” I’m quoting pretty loosely, but accurately, what former National Intelligence Director James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan have been saying for 10 years on social media and on cable news.

"And the reason they’re not saying that Donald Trump is a Putin puppet and going to be had is that he gave Putin an “Art of the Deal” leeway when he first came into office and he doubled down on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He basically was saying, “Putin, see, I’m giving you an opportunity.” Putin did not take it. Donald Trump pivoted and found out that he had to use leverage against Putin.

"And the leverage he’s going to use, or has threatened to use, is far more deleterious to Russia and far more dangerous and far more ambitious than anything imagined by former President Joe Biden, namely, a secondary boycott. That would be to not trade with countries that trade with Russia. That could include the two largest countries in the world, India and China." . . .

Mamdani--Hardly an Original Thinker

First, be aware: Taqiyya: Muslim scholars teach that Muslims should generally be truthful to each other... unless the purpose of lying is to "smooth over differences" or "gain the upper hand over an enemy."  . . . "These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause of Islam - in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them. Now, on to Mamdani...

Phyllis Chesler

"I am talking about New York City's next possible mayor, Zohran Mamdani. He is a Shia Muslim. He has supported Hamas and Shia Iran's genocidal intentions towards both Israel and America; once founded a chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine at college; called for the "globalization of the Intifada," and is also a socialist communist. Unsurprisingly, he is a privileged guy, one who grew up as the son of Mahmood Mamdani, the Indian-Ugandan professor of Postcolonial Studies at Columbia and the son of the very talented filmmaker Mira Nair." . . .

AfterMath - Home

. . . "Why did Haifa’s International Film Festival wish to honor filmmaker Mira Nair for her film The Reluctant Fundamentalist? The film is just another exceptionally well done piece of anti-American propaganda which justifies Islamic/Islamist terrorism by showing us that America harasses Muslims constantly, even Muslims as brilliant and assimilated as Nair’s “fundamentalist” hero, Changez. According to Nair, America is to blame for Pakistani fundamentalist terrorism.

"Did the Haifa Film mavens really screen this film? If they did, how could they miss Nair’s agenda? Why would they wish to honor one more film that depicts America, the CIA, and American military forces as cruel, evil, and racist and which glorifies the offended dignity of innocent Muslims as a way of justifying the nihilistic terror that Islamist Muslims are unleashing, globally, first against other Muslims, second against infidels. Remember Syriana (2005), Paradise Now (2005), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Babel (2006), The Kingdom (2007), Rendition (2007), and Amreeka (2009)?

"What is wrong with the film mavens who live in Haifa, a jewel of a Jewish city and one with a large Arab Muslim and Arab Christian population? Haifa is a genuinely mutli-ethnic and multi-racial abode. No city in Israel is an “apartheid” city, but Haifa is exceptionally integrated in terms of its demographics. There is nothing like it in Gaza and there will be nothing like it in Judea and Samaria if the world prevails and ethnically cleanses Jews from their historically Jewish land.

"This is truly heartbreaking: The so-called progressives and leftists—the “good” people—want to ethnically cleanse the “occupied West Bank” and East Jerusalem of its Jews—and all in the name of anti-racism. They do not demand that Arabs, including the new ones on the block, the Palestinian Arabs, allow Jews--not even the 800,000 Arab Jews who were forced to flee Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, the Maghreb--after centuries of persecution, to become citizens or even live in any of their twenty-two countries.

"The Arab and Muslim world is almost entirely “judenrein,” cleansed of Arab Jews, and they are persecuting and cleansing themselves of their Christian Arabs; and yet, the “good people” still insist that such Muslim racists and ideologues are the victims, the underdogs, provoked by white—dare I write “Zionist”?-- colonialism into becoming fundamentalist terrorists.

"Just like Mira Nair’s very sympathetic leading character Changez.

"But do Jews and Israelis wish to be defamed year after year? Do we wish to live with the consequences of such defamation which are none other than righteous hatred, increasing isolation, and then extermination?

"Mira Nair has just defamed Haifa and all Israel. She has been quoted as saying: “I will go to Israel when the occupation is gone…when the state does not privilege one religion over another. I will go to Israel when Apartheid is over.” She has tweeted that she supports “Palestine for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel and the larger Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions, (BDS) Movement.

"Nair's film is a deft and emotionally dangerous piece of propaganda. Clearly, Nair cannot see the elephant in the room: Islamic and Arab gender and religious apartheid. The Islamist oppression of women and dissidents.

"Like mother, like son."

The Press Is Lying About D.C. Crime

  Issues & Insights

"We are beginning to wonder if there is anything the public can trust the media to report accurately when it comes to Trump."

"We’ve come to expect that no matter what President Donald Trump says or does these days, the mainstream press will rush out to say he’s wrong. So, we weren’t the least bit surprised when, after Trump said crime in the nation’s capital is out of control and called in the National Guard, news outlets immediately dismissed his claims.

"But who is doing the lying here?

"Crime in D.C. “is getting worse, not getting better,” Trump said. Nonsense, came the chorus of press reports, with headlines such as:

  • “Fact check: Violent crime in DC has fallen in 2024 and 2025 after a 2023 spike,” said CNN.
  • “Trump Takes Control of D.C. Police, Citing ‘Bloodthirsty Criminals.’ But Crime Is Down.” said the New York Times.
  • “FACT FOCUS: Trump exaggerates, misstates facts on Washington crime,” said AP.

"The implicit message is that Trump is making up a crime problem to flex his authoritarian muscles.

"These and countless other stories all cite the same set of police department statistics showing the rate of violent crime in D.C. on the downtrend.

"So, case closed, right?

"Not so fast. Just a few weeks ago, the local NBC affiliate reported that:

A D.C. police commander is under investigation for allegedly making changes to crime statistics in his district. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Michael Pulliam was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May … Pulliam — the former commander of the 3rd District that patrols Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights — was placed on leave with pay and told he was under investigation for questionable changes to crime data, five law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told News4.  . . . More...

VJ Day 2025: Japan’s PM expresses remorse over Second World War

 The London Times

"Japan’s prime minister used a rare word on Friday to mark 80 years since the country’s surrender at the end of the Second World War: “Remorse.”

"Speaking at an annual government ceremony for the war dead at the Nippon Budokan arena in Tokyo, Shigeru Ishiba said Japan would remain committed to peace.

“ 'We should never repeat the devastation of war. We will never ever make a mistake in choosing the path to take,” Ishiba said. “The remorse and lessons from that war should once again be engraved deeply in our hearts.”

"It was the first time since 2012 that a Japanese premier used the word at the ceremony, which is held to mourn the 3.1 million casualties of war in Japan.

"A moment of silence was observed at noon, exactly 80 years after Emperor Hirohito announced Japan’s acceptance of the Potsdam Declaration in a radio broadcast.

"The four-and-a-half-minute address, delivered a few days after the US atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and replayed from a scratchy phonograph recording, stunned the nation in 1945, when Hirohito said that 'the war situation has developed not necessarily to Japan’s advantage' ”. . . 80 years after VJ Day, time to honour the troops who fought Japan. "One by one they are passing away, many of them centenarians whose lives have been scarred for the past 80 years by the unspeakable atrocities they witnessed in the jungle, in prison camps and in forced labour on the Burma Death Railway. VJ Day — victory over Japan — was almost an afterthought for most people in Britain in 1945, who for three months had been rejoicing over the defeat of Nazi Germany. Some 71,000 British and Commonwealth troops died facing fanatical Japanese fighters in Burma, Malaya, in the South Pacific, and on ships targeted by kamikaze pilots. A further 12,000 prisoners of war perished in atrocious conditions, starved, bayonetted, and abused in Japanese camps. An end to the cruellest combat of the Second World War saved thousands preparing for a devastating invasion of Japan itself." . . .  More...
