Flashback: Chuck Schumer Thoroughly Mocked for His 'TACO Trump' Post on Iran

 Townhall

"On Saturday night, as Townhall has been covering, President Donald Trump announced an assault on Iran's nuclear program. Democrats have not been taking the news well. They haven't been taking Trump's handling of Iran well at all, and that includes putting out many outrageous takes. Chief among them, as many have reminded over X, is Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

" 'When it comes to negotiating with the terrorist government of Iran, Trump's all over the lot. One day he sounds tough, the next day he's backing off," Schumer claimed in a post from June 2, not exactly sounding tough himself.

"He also complained about finding out about U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio's role in negotiations. "What kind of bull is this?!" Schumer wondered. "They're going to sound tough in public, and then have a side deal that let's Iran get away with everything? That's outrageous! We need to make that side deal public!" Schumer continued, once more going for that idea about being "tough" and gesturing this time for even more emphasis.

"As he continued to rant and rave about a "side deal," Schumer went for that particularly cringeworthy line of attack used against Trump by mentioning "TACO Trump," which supposedly refers to "Trump Always Chickens Out."

" 'If TACO Trump is already folding, the American public should know about it," he continued towards the end of his clip. . . ."

On Iran, Democrats -- Except Fetterman -- Have Gone Underground

"Editor's note: This syndicated column was written and published before Donald Trump ordered US strikes on Iran's nuclear-weapons development facilities."

Larry Elder

"Why have many big-voice Democrats gone into an underground bunker rather than offer even the faintest praise or encouragement for Trump? It's about not giving Trump credit for anything, including accomplishing an objective they supported."

People will DIE!

"When it comes to criticizing President Donald Trump -- and refusing to give credit for virtually anything -- it's full speed ahead for Democrat politicians.

"On the economy, Axios just reported: "The stock market had been recently scraping new highs ... The unemployment rate was 4.2%, and inflation was well-contained near the Fed's 2% target." Gas prices are down, as is the retail price of eggs. Inflation, despite the tariffs, is at a four-year low. Wages are up.

"That southern border has become a nonissue for much of the media. The New York Post recently wrote, "Border Patrol agents didn't release a single migrant into the US last month -- a staggering drop after the Biden administration allowed 62,000 illegal crossers in the country in May 2024. ... Agents caught 8,725 migrants crossing illegally at the southern border last month. That's a 93% decrease from May 2024, when 117,905 were nabbed, according to internal data obtained by The Post."

"Last April, then-Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas testified before Congress insisting, "With the authorities and the funding that we have, (the border) is as secure as it can be."

"Democrats attack Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" not only as a supposed danger to the so-called entitlements but as an existential threat to the republic. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said, "People will die if the GOP tax scam ever becomes law."

Trump ends Iranian nuke program

 Don Surber

"I asked readers this morning, “What should we do about Iran?” "64% said whatever Trump decides. They are not sheep. They are realists. He’s earned our trust and the Lord didn’t spare his life just because he likes orange people." . . .

"Oh sure, I finish Monday’s post (which will be a terrific read) and President Trump decides to end the FAFO War thinking I won’t post tomorrow because it is Sunday. Well too darned bad, Orange Man.

"No one said I couldn’t post a second one on Saturday to criticize him.

"And what President Donald John Trump did was end the FAFO War—and 46 years of “Death to America” BS from Iranian ayatollahs who have turned some of the most beautiful women on Earth into walking garbage bags.

" 'How well did Trump do? Meghan McCain tweeted, “Trump really doesn't give two shits what Tucker Carlson thinks.”

"Chris Houck tweeted with video, “CNN guest and retired General Mark Kimmitt on President Trump bombing Iran: ‘Well, I’m fascinated and candidly, I’m impressed. I never really could understand what the two week pause meant or what it was for, what was left to negotiate. What were we going to expect the Iranians to offer? . . .I think the use of deception and trickery in this case, first of all, was successful. But second of all, saved the potential loss of American lives.’ ”

"Also on CNN, Van Jones said, “I think progressives underestimate how dangerous Iran is. Iran is not a normal country. Normal countries don’t blind women because they showed some hair. They don’t empower little gangs and proxies to surround a country and fire rockets and rape people. They cannot have a bomb because they say death to America, death to Israel and death to all the Jews. One of those should offend you if you're progressives—at least one should offend you. We cannot have a nuclear-armed Iran.”

"We won’t.

"The colonel, Kurt Schlichter, tweeted, “Been waiting 45+ years for this.” . . .

Can the WNBA act in its own interest?

 Mike McDaniel

My Kendo—Japanese fencing—sensei taught that when beaten, the only thing to do was to bow and say: “thank you for teaching me I must be better.” A little of that humility could go a long way toward building the WNBA.

"Children trained in a variety of sports learn the aphorism: “there is no “I” in team.” That they must use their talents while subordinating their egos for the good of their team is relentlessly drilled into them. They quickly learn there are always others bigger, faster, stronger and more talented and if their coaches are people of common sense and integrity, they’re also taught they should appreciate those people because they make the team stronger.

"Coaches also say playing sports is all about building character, about learning to work and play with others, which inevitably takes a backseat to winning.

"That’s why study of Caitlin Clark and the WNBA is such a useful morality tale.

"Prior to Clark, the WNBA was the fringiest of fringe sports. On pain of death, few, if any Americans could name a single player. Now they can name at least one. Almost immediately upon joining the league, she single-handedly raised interest, and revenue, to previously unimagined levels. Suddenly, athletes making a pittance could see a future of increased salaries and perhaps even lucrative endorsement deals. Clark is the tide raising all boats.

"But how could a single athlete do that? In his 1992 movie, Leap of Faith, Steve Martin said you never mess with the genuine article. That’s Caitlin Clark. She has it all. She’s pretty, smart, reads the court like no one else, has every skill required, is relentlessly hard-working, is a born leader, and is genuinely nice. She passes the ball, helps her teammates score and as a guard routinely makes rebounds. People are watching the WNBA in record numbers because she’s the genuine article, and she has made her team a winner." . . .

Maybe Caitlin should start her own league

"As you can see, the girls in the league have decided to declare war on Caitlin Clark, the new kid on the block. Caitlin is not only a great player, but she is also the only reason that people are watching on TV. One would think that these young women want Caitlin to play as many minutes as possible. She fills the arena! Not these girls. It’s all-out war on her, and no one is winning.

"It’s time to face these actions and behaviors and call them out for what they are—black racism:" . . .

Hilarity Ensues After Desperate Gavin Newsom Challenges JD Vance to a Debate

Sister Toldjah

"Last time you debated all it took was taking a poop map out."

"Like his boss, President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance has a knack for oftentimes triggering his political opposition, which was evident Friday when Vance referred to Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) as "Jose Padilla" in remarks made during a visit to the Golden State.

"As we reported, Vance's comments, made in Los Angeles in context of a question about Democrats arrested by the Trump administration, sparked a response from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who said, "You served with him today, and how dare you disrespect him and call him Jose, but I guess he just looked like anybody to you. Well, he's not just anybody to us. He is our senator."

"California Gov. Gavin Newsom, too, reached for the (insinuated) race card, tweeting, "JD Vance served with Alex Padilla in the United States Senate. Calling him 'Jose Padilla' is not an accident."

"But that's not all Newsom said about Vance on Friday night. 45 minutes later, a desperate Newsom challenged Vance to a debate:

Hey @JDVance — nice of you to finally make it out to California. Since you’re so eager to talk about me, how about saying it to my face? Let’s debate. Time and place?

"Obviously, the guy who is all but certain to officially commence with a 2028 presidential run at some point forgot how things turned out when he issued a similar challenge to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2023." . . .

No Kings, Except In California

. . ."Newsom’s excess was recently restrained by Congress and President Donald Trump through the proper lawmaking process. Trump signed a bill that he said “will kill, totally kill” California’s EV mandate “forever.”

"Newsom’s response was not only to sue, which is certainly within the scope of his position, but to also behave as if, again, he is accountable to no one. He defiantly shot back on June 12 with an order that “reaffirms” the state’s “commitment to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission technologies, including passenger, medium and heavy-duty vehicles.” He recognizes no one’s authority but his own." . . .
