Now wait just a minute here: A note to the Newseum about its 'Fake News' t-shirts  . . . "The Newseum, despite its financial struggles and uncertain future, remains my favorite museum anywhere. It first captured my attention in 2000, when my eighth-grade class visited the museum at its previous home in Rosslyn, Virginia. As someone who was a news consumer at an early age, the museum appealed to me.

"One inherent consequence that so-called "Death with Dignity" advocates seem to ignore is the possibility that doctors and family members will pressure people into euthanasia or assisted suicide for convenience. A case in the Netherlands takes that one step further, as an elderly woman was euthanized against her will by family members eager to move on with their lives.

When the doctor came in to euthanize her, the patient was not informed of what was going to happen to her, to 'avoid unnecessary distress.' She was given coffee with a sedative in it, but she refused to drink it — and then struggled as the doctor tried to kill her. She fought so fiercely that the doctor ordered her own family to physically hold her down, and she was forcibly euthanized.

"Comedian Tim Allen discussed Fox’s revival of his show “Last Man Standing” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Thursday and also commented on the state of comedy in today’s political climate.

"Allen addressed ABC’s cancellation of “Roseanne” after Roseanne Barr aimed an offensive tweet at former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett.

" 'I go way back with Rosie and that's not the Roseanne that I know," he said. "She was the most diverse and tolerant woman I've ever known for a long time. So, whatever got in her head isn't the Roseanne that I know."

"Allen, who is a conservative Trump supporter, discussed the climate for comedians in the current hyper-partisan political era.

" 'It's a very icy time,” he said. “I've been a comedian for 38 years. What Lenny Bruce said at the Purple Onion in 1951 … we've gone backwards. There's things you can't say, there's things you shouldn't say. Who makes up these rules? As a stand-up comic, it's a very dangerous position for me to be in because I like pushing buttons.”

"Anti-white racism is endemic among liberals.  For liberals, it is permissible to show disdain for white people in a way that would be totally, totally unacceptable to show for blacks, Hispanics, or people of other "colors" of the liberal rainbow.

"This is clearer than ever now that we have been exposed to the ravings of The New York Times' latest hire, editorial writer Sarah Jeong.  Jeong, who is Asian (a word I despise for its P.C. vagueness), has a long history of making racist comments about white people on Twitter.  When confronted with the fact of this, the Times doubled down, releasing a statement saying it knew about Jeong's comments but was okay with them because Jeong was just using "satire" to bait people who were making racist comments against her.

"Can you imagine the Times excusing such naked racism as "satire" if directed against any other ethnic group?  I think not.  I think Jeong was hired not in spite her racist rants, but rather because of them.  Because I think Jeong says exactly what liberals feel.

3-D Plastic Gun Hype Misfires

"A few items of note here.  While individuals can download blueprints and "print" a gun using expensive equipment, they cannot be sold by anyone other than a licensed firearm dealer.  Without serial numbers, etc., no dealer would sell them.  Purchasers would still have to undergo background checks.  And the unreliable guns are not undetectable.  The likelihood of some disgruntled student showing up at his old school with a plastic 3-D gun he printed in his mom's basement is extremely low:

First off, as Stephen Gutowski of The Washington Free Beacon points out, it is easy and legal to find gun blueprints online – and it should be, given that the First Amendment problems with barring the ability to post and consume such blueprints are quite serious.  Gutowski also points out that the "vast majority of 3D printed gun designs are not undetectable to metal detectors," because they are made of metal, their parts manufactured by gun manufacturers.  It's actually illegal to build a gun that's undetectable, Gutowski explains – the ban on creation of such weapons was extended to 2023 under the Undetectable Firearms Act.

"If the guns fall apart and you need to have expensive equipment to make them, where's the "easy access"?  Wouldn't criminals just obtain one of the hundreds of millions of guns, real, reusable, and relatively cheap guns, already in existence?  If they want a gun, they aren't likely to buy a 3-D printer first." . . .
