Congressman recalls trouble during Hastert speakership

WND   "There has been much made of former Speaker Hastert’s indictment this week. Most of us who knew him on any level (I’m a member of the press who covers Congress) feel horrible for him.
I asked my friend and colleague former Rep. Bob Ney, author of “Sideswiped: Lessons Learned Courtesy of the Hit Men of Capitol Hill,” to give me his perspective.
Full article here

. . . "Besides some better staffers, he also could use a good mental health therapist. I have seen people destroy themselves time and time again in Washington, D.C. It often happens after taking public office, although Speaker Hastert’s problems may have begun years before the thought of public office entered Mr. Hastert’s mind.
"This self-destruction usually has to do with the self that is displayed to the world verses the inner self. Choosing young men/boys may be an attempt at working out internal conflicts from long ago. Some may see it as a reflection of internalized homophobia, but that would not encompass choosing someone as young and innocent as a high-school student. Some theories see this kind of sexual abuse not as sexual but as an abuse of power. This might fit into his need to seek high office and deal with his inner demons.
"Former Rep. Bob Ney saw one Denny Hastert, and at least one of Hastert’s high-school students saw another. Now the task former Speaker Hastert is to reconcile the two parts of himself. It is a large task, and he is going to need lots of help to do it.
Some things Mr. Hastert could do:
  • Publish any letters of admiration for him by his victim;
  • Have a surrogate remark that Hastert got his victim by dragging a dollar bill through a trailer park
  • Publicly deny he had sex with that boy
  • Have surrogates claim this is all a left-wing conspiracy
  • Tell his victim to put ice on any wounds from their encounters.
  • Consult Barney Frank for advice
("In a third blockbuster scandal, Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Barney Frank admitted a lengthy relationship with a male hooker who ran a bisexual prostitution service out of Frank's apartment.")
  •  One other thing Mr. Hastert can do: become a Democrat

When District Attorneys Attack ; The GOP should turn its attention to prosecutorial misconduct.

"As the old Vulcan proverb has it, “Only Nixon can go to China.” And only Nixon’s political heirs can fix the persistent — and terrifying — problems that continue to plague this country’s law-enforcement agencies and prosecutors’ offices.

Exhibit A: Orange County, California.

. . .
"Democrats may have ruined Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland, etc., and they are well on their way toward doing the same thing to Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York, etc. If Republicans want to show that they can do better, then fixing the mess in Orange County, a community more populous than Chicago, would be an excellent place to start."

Obama’s “Waters of the U. S.” EPA Power Grab

All your puddles are belong to us

"While presented as a means to protect drinking water and “hold[ing] polluters accountable,” the Obama administration’s latest EPA rule, Waters of the United States, is rather more far-reaching than many conservatives like.
"According to the document (full text embedded below), the rule itself is not intended as regulatory (that probably comes later), but is instead “a definitional rule that clarifies the scope of the ‘waters of the United States’ . . . .”  Essentially, almost all fresh water, including that in “water-filled depressions,” is now under the federal government’s purview and subject to government oversight and regulation."
 Politico reports:  . . .

Obama’s emphasis is on safety and clean water; the rule, however, greatly expands the definition of what waters “belong to us all,” including that on privately-owned property.

ISIS Marches On Jordan, Israel In The Cross Hairs!

They are estimated to cover the 250 km from Palmyra to the Jordanian border Tuesday, May 26, passing through Deir el-Zour in the east, which they already occupy.

"After the border crossing, ISIS is expected to seize villages and towns in northeastern Jordan, especially Ar Ruwayshid, where 800,000 Syrian refugees shelter.

"The Jordanian army, our sources report, had the foresight earlier this month to reinforce its western frontier against a potential ISIS assault on the frontier from point where it links with the Israeli and Syrian borders and up to the Tanaf border crossing. However, the Islamists are heading for the eastern sections which the Jordanian army did not fortify with extra troops." . . .

LAPD Anti-Terror Cops Arrest Suspect Dawud Abdulwali In Massive Downtown Fire

"The fire was so massive that hundreds of firefighters were called in, and it was termed ‘historic’. We weren’t the only ones to notice it, as you can see from our report, ISIS also commented on it, although did not claim responsibility for it.
Via Breitbart:
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has arrested a suspect, Dawud Abdulwali, 56, on arson charges connected with the massive downtown fire last December that consumed the Da Vinci apartment complex. The Los Angeles Times reports that Abdulwali was arrested Tuesday morning during a traffic stop, and after a lengthy investigation.
Mayor Eric Garcetti announced the arrest Wednesday, saying: “This arrest illustrates that crime will not be tolerated in Los Angeles.”

Some Race Activists Are Harming Their Own Cause

The black-on-black violence in Baltimore and other cities is running rampant, yet all the activists want to talk about is racism -- systemic or individual -- and they refuse to demand accountability from the perpetrators of the violence.

David Limbaugh   " There was a mostly minority-on-minority bloodbath in Baltimore over the Memorial Day weekend, with 26 people shot and nine dead, and the main reaction we hear from the left is "racism."

"How do perpetual race activists ever expect to be viewed as credible when they react to every incident, irrespective of the facts, as racially motivated?

"Take Ferguson, Missouri, for example. Though a grand jury refused to return a criminal indictment against police Officer Darren Wilson in connection with what authorities concluded was his legally justifiable shooting of Michael Brown, racial activists continue to cite the tragedy as if it supports their case against racially motivated police misconduct. But is it honest for these activists to chant "hands up, don't shoot" concerning this case?" . . .

Pics From The Circus With Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby And Family As Ringmasters

Via Baltimore Sun:
What a busy few weeks Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby has had.

She appeared onstage with Prince. Sat down for an interview with Vogue.

And, of course, she made national news by pressing charges against six officers in the death of Freddie Gray, who suffered a severe spinal injury while in police custody.

Now Mosby and her husband, City Councilman Nick Mosby, are about to be guest ringmasters for the UniverSoul Circus.

The couple is also slated to accept the “UniverSoul Circus Community Service Award for their commitment to the well-being of the Baltimore community” at Friday afternoon’s performance, according to a press release from the circus. . . .

"Five reasons why the Dennis Hastert scandal disgusts me"

. . . "That said, there are other, [less] obvious reasons why this entire affair disgusts me.

"2. The indictment of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert could not have come at a better time for Democrats. Counting Up Obama’s Cataclysmic Foreign Policy Failures

President Obama, in describing his foreign policy doctrine in private conversations to reporters, said, “We don’t do stupid sh*t.” He actually does, quite a lot, and in ways that may be unmatched by any president in our history. Over the course of his presidency, Mr. Obama has implemented the policy he’s wanted. As a result, in several nations and in some regions, he has helped open the gates of hell.

Peter Wehner    "With the Islamic State expanding its reach after two key victories in Ramadi, the capital of Iraq’s Anbar Province, and Palmyra, a strategically important city in Syria, it might a good time to ask: What are the worst foreign policy failures of Barack Obama’s presidency? The list is long; here are several to choose from.

"1. The Rise of ISIS. President Obama failed to anticipate the rise of ISIS, which he ridiculed as a “jayvee team” as recently as last year, and he has since failed to do anything effective to impede it. ISIS had established territory in large parts of Syria and Iraq; it now “controls a volume of resources and territory unmatched in the history of extremist organizations.” Under Mr. Obama’s watch, a jihadist caliphate has been established in the heart of the Middle East — and the president has no strategy to deal with it.

"2. Losing the War in Iraq. President Obama’s predecessor handed to him a war that had been won." . . .  Read the full article.

I feel other nations must worry more about the American voters - legal or otherwise- who put this man into office not once, but twice. The second time after knowing what kind of president he has been!
If the next time we elect an intelligent, courageous foreign policy leader, many of our allies may still be reluctant to follow our lead because they realize the very next administration will be another leftist, ineffectual one like that which Obama voters chose in 2008 and 2012.

If Hillary becomes president, who will make her obey the law?

Washington Examiner  . . . "Ultimately, the Presidential Records Act depends on the honesty of the president. That's not Clinton's strong suit. Recent polls have shown substantial numbers of Americans do not believe she is honest and trustworthy. After the State Department experience, they would have good reason to be suspicious of her in the White House.

Most Democrats Think Illegal Immigrants Should Vote

Rasmussen Reports
"Are voters ready to let illegal immigrants vote? A sizable number, including most Democrats, are.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that one-out-of-three Likely U.S. Voters (35%) now believes that illegal immigrants should be allowed to vote if they can prove they live in this country and pay taxes. Sixty percent (60%) disagree, while five percent (5%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

"Fifty-three percent (53%) of Democrats think tax-paying illegal immigrants should have the right to vote. Twenty-one percent (21%) of Republicans and 30% of voters not affiliated with either major political party agree." . . .

Voters under 40 are twice as likely as their elders are to favor allowing illegal immigrants to vote, but they, too, draw the line at counting illegal immigrants when setting up legislative districts.

Krauthammer: Why doctors quit

. . .The newly elected Barack Obama told the nation in 2009 that “it just won’t save billions of dollars” — $77 billion a year, promised the administration — “and thousands of jobs, it will save lives.” He then threw a cool $27 billion at going paperless by 2015.
Period.

Charles Krauthammer

About a decade ago, a doctor friend was lamenting the increasingly frustrating conditions of clinical practice. “How did you know to get out of medicine in 1978?” he asked with a smile.

“I didn’t,” I replied. “I had no idea what was coming. I just felt I’d chosen the wrong vocation.”

"I was reminded of this exchange upon receiving my med-school class’s 40th-reunion report and reading some of the entries. In general, my classmates felt fulfilled by family, friends and the considerable achievements of their professional lives. But there was an undercurrent of deep disappointment, almost demoralization, with what medical practice had become.

"The complaint was not financial but vocational — an incessant interference with their work, *a deep erosion of their autonomy and authority, a transformation from physician to “provider.”
*(Emphasis added, TD)

"As one of them wrote, “My colleagues who have already left practice all say they still love patient care, being a doctor. They just couldn’t stand everything else.” By which he meant “a never-ending attack on the profession from government, insurance companies, and lawyers . . . progressively intrusive and usually unproductive rules and regulations,” topped by an electronic health records (EHR) mandate that produces nothing more than “billing and legal documents” — and degraded medicine." . . . The government argues that “established by the State” is at worst a drafting error and that Congress clearly wanted subsidies to be available in all of the states.

Report: U.S. Pilots Waging Anti-ISIS War Claim ‘Micromanaging’ Slowing Them Down

Guardian Eagles

“The ultimate guidance rests in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” he declared. “We have been applying air power like a rain shower or a drizzle — for it to be effective, it needs to be applied like a thunderstorm.”
Breitbart National Security

"American military pilots charged with carrying out airstrikes against the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) in Iraq and Syria are complaining that stringent rules of engagement are interfering with their mission, Fox News reports.

"Unnamed sources, reportedly close to the U.S.-led air campaign against ISIS, told Fox News that on average, strike missions take under an hour, from when the pilot requests authorization to strike an ISIS target to the time the ordnance actually leaves the aircraft’s wing.

"Some pilots, Fox News notes, blame a bureaucracy that hinders their ability to make decisions on the fly.

“ 'There were times I had groups of ISIS fighters in my sights, but couldn’t get clearance to engage,” a Navy F-18 pilot participating in the U.S.-led campaign against ISIS frustratedly told Fox News.

“ 'They probably killed innocent people and spread evil because of my inability to kill them. It was frustrating,” added the unnamed pilot." . . .

After backlash from LGBT activists, Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney cancels appearance at Christian foundation fundraiser

Truth Revolt
"Under pressure from LGBT groups and the South Carolina House minority leader, Clemson University Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney has announced that he will no longer attend a fundraiser held by a Christian nonprofit organization.

"The June 2 fundraiser will be hosted by the Palmetto Family Council, a South Carolina-based Christian nonprofit which describes itself as dedicated to promoting "biblical principles," particularly "the values and virtues of marriage, the traditional family model, and sexual purity."  The group supports traditional marriage, endorsed the state's partial birth abortion law, and is dedicated to promoting religious freedom.

"Swinney was to be honored at the fundraiser for his work with his own All In Foundation, which focuses on raising awareness around the state about health issues. Though Swinney explained that he had not official association with the Palmetto Family Council and was attending on behalf of all involved in the work of his foundation, the uproar from gay rights activists had made attending too much of a "distraction.' “ 'It bothers me to think my own country is a strange land,” Jackson said Friday at the pastors’ retreat. “I never thought there would be a day when my nation would persecute the Bible-believing Christian for standing for what the word of God says and reward those who come against it as if they are heroes; as if they are great Americans for standing up against God, but that’s where we are." . . .

Investors.com   "Lawlessness: Fueled by this president's anti-police policies and race-baiting rhetoric, thugs are attacking cops and terrorizing major cities. Horrible violence is breaking out all over. We are witnessing a national crime wave.

"Law enforcement expects to see an escalation in criminal activity over the summer. Already we've seen a disturbing trend in May, including:
Baltimore police attempt to enforce a curfew on April 28, 2015. AP• The deadliest month Baltimore has seen in more than 15 years, with almost 30 shootings and nine deaths just over the holiday weekend. That makes well over 100 murders this year, compared with 71 at this time last year, the fastest the city has reached 100 homicides since 2007.
• Any time Baltimore officers respond to calls on the city's west side, scene of the Freddie Gray riots, as many as 50 people threaten them, Police Chief Anthony Batts says. "We have to send out multiple units just to do basic police work," he said. "It makes it very difficult to follow up on violence that takes place there."
• In Melbourne, Fla., likewise, police have reported mobs surrounding and striking cops trying to handcuff suspects in two separate cases in the past two weeks.
• A similar spike in violence was reported in Chicago, where 12 people were killed and at least 44 — including a 4-year-old girl — wounded in mostly gang-related shootings over the Memorial Day weekend.
• In Manhattan, 16 people have been murdered this year, a 45% jump over the same period last year, while the number of shooting victims nearly doubled, from 33 to 61. That doesn't include a rash of Central Park muggings, subway assaults and vandalism.
• In the nation's capital, the so-called "D.C. Mansion Murders" have gripped the city, which is suffering a similar surge in homicides.
. . .  In Omaha, Neb., a white female police officer was shot and killed by a black gang member as she tried to serve him a felony arrest warrant.
• A New Orleans housing authority cop, also white, was gunned down as he sat in his patrol car — the first on-duty death in the department's history.
• In Rio Rancho, N.M., another white police officer was gunned down after pulling over a gang member during a traffic stop — the first officer shot and killed in the line of duty in the department's 34-year history.
"Victims can blame the crime surge on politicians who give criminals "space" to break the law. Who order cops to stop "stop and frisks." Who tie their hands while giving thugs license to loot and kill."

Obama's EPA metasticizes into our every day lives

Governor of Texas: EPA overreach a new level of absurdity…   (CUSA) – Governor Greg Abbott recognizes this new executive order for what it is—a power grab. Today he released the following statement regarding the federal Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Water Rule:"
The EPA’s latest regulatory overreach represents a new level of absurdity by attempting to define ditches and ponds as part of the ‘navigable waters’ under the Clean Water Act.
Is it clear this rule serves the sole purpose of enabling the federal government to regulate businesses and property owners on an increasingly granular level.
The EPA’s action is contrary to multiple rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court limiting its jurisdiction, and represents yet another power grab by the Obama Administration seeking to impose heavy-handed regulations on every facet of the lives of Americans.
The real reason the EPA wants to regulate puddles and ditches   . . . "A puddle or a ditch filled with water on a property certainly won't harm anyone outside the property.  But the EPA wants to regulate it because it feels that without guidance, a private property user will do something with it to harm the Earth.  For example, a private property owner might want to demolish a pothole, or a ditch, to build a commercial or residential building, one that could use electricity, increase consumption, and further "global warming."  By extending its control to puddles and even totally dry areas where water once flowed years ago, the EPA can prevent development and further its global warming ideology.

"That's what it's all about.
Destroy Capitalism, Save the Climate?
Economic growth provides resources for solving problems– restoring organic carbon in agricultural soils, conserving and restoring ecosystems, better sanitation and safer water, better health and education, updating the diesel fleet and other productive assets to emit less black carbon, developing better and cheaper ways of producing electricity, replacing cooking fires with better ways of preparing food, etc.

Maryland Sheriff – Race Relations Have Gone From Best To Worst Ever, Obama And Holder To Blame (Video )

"Wicomico County, MD Sheriff Mike Lewis describes the current situation in Baltimore and elsewhere, in which police are hesitant or fearful to proactively do their job out of concerns of not being supported in the event something goes wrong, as is the case in Baltimore where the police were targeted by racist, politically opportunistic city officials.
"Responding to a question of that fear factor playing a role in the surge in violence, Lewis said, “Sean, the Baltimore City Police Department, the officers particularly on the street, have been eviscerated, they’ve been disemboweled, their guts removed to have the courage to go out there and do this job. They’re very fearful that if they go out there and be proactive, which we all should be doing in law enforcement today, we can’t afford to be reactive, especially in urban areas. Those officers are no longer being proactive, and as you see, the violence has surged.”

Will Obama, Sharpton and their voters condemn this?

Baltimore Residents Fearful Amid Rash Of Homicides  . . . "“Before it was over-policing. Now there’s no police,” said Donnail “Dreads” Lee, 34, who lives in the Gilmor Homes, the public housing complex where Gray, 25, was arrested.

“ 'I haven’t seen the police since the riots,” Lee said. “People feel as though they can do things and get away with it. I see people walking with guns almost every single day, because they know the police aren’t pulling them up like they used to.”

"Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said last week his officers “are not holding back” from policing tough neighborhoods, but they are encountering dangerous hostility in the Western District.
“Our officers tell me that when officers pull up, they have 30 to 50 people surrounding them at any time,” Batts said'." . . .
Veronica Edmonds, a 26-year-old mother of seven in the Gilmor Homes, said she wishes the police would return and focus on violent crime rather than minor drug offenses.
“If they focused more on criminals and left the petty stuff alone, the community would have more respect for police officers,” she said

Mosby’s favorites. . . "Evidence of Mosby’s animus may also be evident in two tweets written by third parties that she favorited on her personal Twitter account. The first of the two tweets asks: “Didn’t I say last week that Marilyn Mosby, prima facie, INFURIATES a certain kind of white person?” The second of the two tweets asserts that, in her press conference announcing the charges she had brought, Mosby “only revealed what was RELEVANT to charge those 6 THUG cops.”
Mosby now claims that her personal Twitter account was hacked. Although the states’s attorney’s office account appears to have been hacked last week, the Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross suggests why doubt is in order with respect to the alleged hacking of Mosby’s personal Twitter account." . . .
