Liberals maneuver to raise your gas prices
Washington Times "Long-anticipated climate-change legislation is scheduled to be unveiled in the Senate today. The ostensible purpose is to clean the air by cutting carbon emissions 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020. If the bill becomes law, though, consumers will get smoked as they are forced to pay more for a fill-up." Annnnd: Repackaged Cap and Trade Bill To Be Made Public Wednesday " “Well now they realize it’s not selling, so they’re changing the title,” said Horner. “It’s exactly what they did in Wisconsin; I know it’s now called the Clean Jobs Bill, yeah, that’s it, it’s about jobs. No it isn’t it’s about power. These guys have always wanted to control your lives. ” The latest proposal by Senators John Kerry (D-Massachusetts) and Joe Liebermann (I-Connecticut) is expected be marketed as a pollution reduction and investment plan."
Just be silent and we won’t call you a racist
Faithwriters "It appears that the racist label can be used in a very selective way. Recent black on Asian violence in the sanctuary city of San Francisco raised no cries of racism. "
Sam Waterston Tells Congress to End Off-Shore Drilling
Big Hollywood "I’m sold. It’s the glasses propped at the end of Waterston’s nose that closed the deal for me. The authority and intelligence that comes with such a precarious propping makes it impossible for me to support off-shore drilling any longer." And from the Comments section: "But Hollywood pinheads are a dime a dozen, and Waterston just mouths lines that might ordinarily be given to, say, Danny Glover or Sean Penn. Doesn't make the lies any better. We may not drill- but guess what? Others will, and are. A partial list of nations drilling offshore the continental US: China, Mexico, UK, Vietnam(!), Russia, Angola (!!) and others. They will drill, retrieve the oil- and sell it to us. "
The People Around Obama

The Anti-Everything Mood
Cook Political Report "When one party has control of the White House and both chambers of Congress, a midterm election is pretty much a referendum on that party. The electorate's anti-everything mood is likely to manifest itself only one way in November -- that is, against Democrats. Between now and then, however, a different dynamic could be in play. Republicans in particular should watch upcoming primaries apprehensively to see whether their party is nominating candidates with the potential to attract broad-based support and take full advantage of the anti-Democratic tide, or if it is opting for candidates who might be too extreme even in what should be a great year for the GOP. But have no doubt: The anger is real. The only question is precisely how it will be channeled."
Slavery Reparations: A Dead Issue, and Well-Deserved
Clayton E. Cramer " There’s plenty of shame and horror to go around. Slavery has been the norm for most of human civilization, and while the horrors of the Middle Passage and the cane fields of the Western Hemisphere are remarkable, there is no shortage of horrors across the centuries. At a certain point we need to inform and educate, while recognizing that seeking reparations for crimes committed by persons now dead, against persons also now dead, will lead us to reparations claims against Italy for Caesar’s crimes in Gaul." Clayton E. Cramer is a software engineer and historian. His sixth book, Armed America: The Remarkable Story of How and Why Guns Became as American as Apple Pie (Nelson Current, 2006), is available in bookstores.
The hits just keep on comin' with Obamacare
Rick Moran "What would we do without Nancy Pelosi? It was she who told us we'd find out exactly what was in the health insurance reform bill once it was passed, and by God, she was telling the truth! Unfortunately, what we're finding is making the hair stand on end of most businesses in the this country:"
Federal rule makes joining unions easier
Washington Times "The new rule, which amends the Railway Labor Act of 1926, calls for the recognition of a union chapter if a simple majority of workers who cast ballots approve organizing. The previous rule required a majority of the entire work force to favor unionizing, which meant that workers choosing not to vote at all were effectively counted as "no" votes."
MORE STRIKES - WORSE SERVICE - THANK YOU OBAMA! "This is huge. Yesterday, the Obama administration delivered a big, fat thank you to the unions that got him elected. Obama's National Mediation Board announced a change to a 76-year-old rule on union elections. Now you'll remember said that he was going to "fundamentally transform" America ... and this is one of the ways he's doing it." Neal Boortz

Food-stamp tally nears 40 million, sets record
Reuters "Nearly 40 million Americans received food stamps -- the latest in an ever-higher string of record enrollment that dates from December 2008 and the U.S. recession, according to a government update." Via Heritage.
What’s Worse Than Energy Taxes? Renewable Electricity Standards
Heritage "The inconvenient truth is this: nearly half of America’s electricity is generated from coal. Natural gas and nuclear energy add about 20 percent each. Most of the rest is provided by renewable sources, primarily hydroelectric energy at 6 percent. Non-hydro renewables like wind, solar energy and biomass total only 3 percent. And this is after decades of existing generous renewable subsidies. If electricity created by wind and other renewables were cost competitive, consumers would use more of it without a federal law to force consumption. But renewable energy is not cost competitive, hence the need for government coercion to force the American people to buy it."
Penn Jillette Defends Tea Party Against Rachael Harris’s Charge of ‘Racism’
Newsbusters "On the April 22 Larry King Live on CNN, which was rebroadcast on Saturday, magician and comedian Penn Jillette – who is a self-described libertarian – challenged assertions by actress Rachael Harris that the Tea Party movement is motivated by "racism" against President Barack Obama. Jillette: "Well, that's the magic word. Once you say ‘racism,’ the other side loses automatically. And I don't think we have very much evidence that that's what it is. Don't they have to be doing racist things besides you just saying that they're racist?" "
