Alan Caruba asks, Are Americans Stupid?

"The late comedian, George Carlin, once said, “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.” I thought of that when I heard that Barack Obama had been reelected."

Warning Signs  ..."Let me say that I have long regarded Barack Obama as stupid. His incompetence manifests itself daily. He cannot speak without the assistance of a Tele-Prompter. He has zero experience with the way people make a living or run a business. He has zero experience regarding military affairs and appears to have no knowledge of history. His lack of knowledge about economics has left the nation with the highest debt and deficit in its history, and millions unemployed."...

The difference between Islam and other religions

Bookworm Room  "Libby, a Bookworm Room friend, came up with one of the most accurate statements I’ve ever seen distinguishing Islam from other religions.  I have to share it with you:
The difference between Islam and other religions is that while other religions inspire their followers to control themselves to avoid sin, the followers of Islam seek to control their environment to avoid sin.

Obamacare Website Quietly Deletes Reference to 'Free Health Care'

Weekly Standard   "Even as President Obama and his administration are making a last minute push to encourage enrollment in Obamacare, a quiet change was made on the Healthcare.gov website regarding those who will still not be able to afford coverage after the program kicks in. From at least June 26, 2013 to as recently as September 15, under the topic, "Where can I get free or low-cost care in my community?" the following statement appeared: "If you can't afford any health plan, you can get free or low-cost health and dental care at a nearby community health center." Here is how the page in question appeared:

"However, sometime between September 16 and September 23, the reference to "free" care was dropped. The title of the topic was changed as well, and now reads: "Where can I get low-cost care in my community?" Here is how the page currently appears:"
"The page in question is not a new one, as the webpage's Internet address remains the same, still containing the word "free": www.healthcare.gov/where-can-i-get-free-or-low-cost-care/.  However, there is no notation anywhere on the page that it was revised; the change just appeared unannounced."

Will Congress Stop Obamacare?

Political Cartoons by Henry Payne
Heritage  "Less than 24 hours from now, the government takeover of health care will begin implementation—unless Congress acts to stop Obamacare.

"Over the weekend, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to delay the unpopular law’s implementation by one year. Although the plan falls short of defunding Obamacare, Heritage Action for America called the delay “a step towards preventing the law’s entitlements from taking root.”

"Lawmakers also approved a measure to repeal Obamacare’s tax on medical devices and ensure that the U.S. military would continue to get paid in the event of a government shutdown tomorrow."

You Won’t Believe What Common Core Testing Looks Like on Long Island

independentsentinel.com  "One school district in Suffolk County, Long Island had a parent-teacher conference in which every teacher said the same thing. ‘We are no longer teachers, we are your child’s guides.’
"Under the new regulations, they said, they cannot be referred to as teachers any longer, they are only the child’s guide. The child is no longer an individual either, only part of a team, they explained.
"Collectivism at its best!"

As usual, the program is promoted by those who want the federal government taking over more and more of state functions.

A case can be made for Common Core;  Larry Cuban on School Reform and Classroom Practice   "According to a recent analysis of the Common Core standards there are two justifications for states adopting the standards (Brookings Study of Common Core):"....

'Common Core' In Jeopardy As More States Withdraw   "According to Politico, now that the new math and language tests that are tied to the Common Core national academic standards are almost ready, state officials have found that the exams are too long, too expensive, and require a higher level of computer technology than is often available. Perhaps first and foremost, however, states are fighting back against the standards as a federal intrusion into an area that has historically been reserved for them."
....
"In addition, the House has just passed the Student Success Act (SSA), a proposal sponsored by GOP Reps. John Kline (MN) and Todd Rokita (IN), to rewrite the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law.
"The Heritage Foundation reports that the SSA would eliminate the federal mandate known as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for reading and math proficiency, and thereby allow states to design their own accountability systems."

House Hearing Room Bursts Out Laughing at Obama's ‘Red Line’ on Continuing Resolution

Obama Threatens Senate Democrats: He'll Shut Gov't If They Delay Obamacare  "President Barack Obama is threatening Senate Democrats that if they approve a continuing resolution to fund the government past Monday that also delays Obamacare for one year, he will veto that resolution and shut down the government.
CNS News  "The ensuing exchange between Rogers and McGovern on Obama’s veto threat caused the committee chamber to burst into laughter.

Rogers: “Would the gentleman yield?

 McGovern: "I happily yield."

Rogers: "You say the president has threatened to veto the bill?"

McGovern: "No, he hasn’t threatened. He said he absolutely will veto."

Rogers: "He’s drawn a red line has he?"

 McGovern: "Yep."

"At this point, the small hearing room—which was largely filled with committee members, other members of Congress who had come to testify and congressional staff—burst into laughter. Rep. McGovern then stated his belief that the president was serious about his then-just-issued veto threat. “And, you know what,” said McGovern, “I think he’s very serious about this.”

Netanyahu to Rebut Iran ‘Sweet-Talk’ in Speech to UN

Political Cartoons by Jerry Holbert
Bloomberg  "Israel’s prime minister and his allies expressed concern that President Barack Obama’s phone call with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani may signal that efforts to halt Iran’s nuclear program will stall.
“ 'I will tell the truth in the face of the sweet-talk and onslaught of smiles,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters as he boarded his plane for the U.S., where he will meet Obama and speak before the United Nations. Netanyahu landed in New York early today and will visit the White House tomorrow.
...."Netanyahu has expressed skepticism about the motives behind Rouhani’s initiative and suggested Iran is trying to buy time to develop the capability to make a nuclear weapon. Iran says its nuclear program is for civilian needs such as electricity."

CNN Translates Obama’s Phone Call with Rouhani   " Leftist British-Iranian journalist Christiane Amanpour interviewed Iranian President Hassan Rouhani last week and, relying on Rouhani’s translator, made the president of the Jew-hating and Holocaust-denying Iranian government sound so incredibly “moderate” ...
President Rouhani [Amanpour's Translation:] I too am glad we can talk.  [Actual Translation:] I too am glad we can talk while we finish building our nuclear weapons.

Legendary Journalist, Seymour Hersh calls Obama a Liar. Feels the press enables him

Examiner.com  "Since the 60s, Seymour Hersh has been the bain of presidents from both parties. Seymour broke the My Lai story, was hired by the New York Times to cover Watergate and ended up breaking the invasion of Nixon invasion of Cambodia, and more recently, broke the story Abu Ghraib story. The Republican party once said he was, "the closest thing American journalism has to a terrorist". So what does Mr Hersh think of number 44? He thinks he is a serial liar and the press are a quivering mass of sycophants."

I repeat:  He thinks Obama is a serial liar and the press are a quivering mass of sycophants.

More on this:  "When it comes to Obama, the American media's unrequited crush on the president has turned them into useless fanboys and water carriers:"....

Seymour Hersh on Obama, NSA and the 'pathetic' American media
"Seymour Hersh has got some extreme ideas on how to fix journalism – close down the news bureaus of NBC and ABC, sack 90% of editors in publishing and get back to the fundamental job of journalists which, he says, is to be an outsider."

Sebelius asks for Obamacare Videos: This one is going viral!

How to tell if your dog is involved in a sex scandal...

Are the seeds of civil war in America being sown?

Up until a short time ago, I wouldn't have considered a topic such as this, relegating it to the fringiest of the fringes. But when thoughtful writers such as Alan Caruba write on this subject, I begin to see the signs around us in a new light. Signs such as threats of racial violence, vengeance being promoted against those with opposing political views and the entire pro-Obama entertainment industry aligning to ridicule them with slander and profanity; leftists destroying the reputations and businesses of Americans who do not hold to liberal standards
And, yes, I do blame this president for many things he says to stir anger toward those of us who express fear over his policies; I blame Obama for the things he does not say to calm the angry divisions that are growing more bitter with time.  Tunnel Dweller

Alan Caruba;  A Very Angry America   ..."What is one to make of a White House senior advisor, Dan Pfeiffer, who compared Republicans to arsonists, hostage-takers, and suicide bombers? The Majority Leader in the Senate, Harry Reid, told Republicans that “There’s no need for conversations” telling them to send over a continuing resolution without defunding Obamacare. He has called Tea Party members of the House “anarchists.”...

It's dangerous. It's very dangerous. I believe, Mr. President, we are at one of the most dangerous points in our history right now. Every bit as dangerous as the break-up of the Union before the Civil War.

Walmart Shooter Picked Victims By Race  "A man who shot four people near a Greenville Walmart in June picked out his victims because they were white, according to several indictments handed down against him."
