Terrorism chic; UPDATED

 Matthew Karl

"The answer is for us on the right to articulate our beliefs well, lead by example, stand firm for what we believe in, and engage thoughtfully and respectfully with our fellow citizenry, winning hearts and minds."

"Tom Wolfe, the celebrated author of The Right Stuff and The Bonfire of the Vanities, famously skewered New York’s cultural elite in his 1970 essay “Radical Chic.”  He brilliantly satirized a high-society dinner party where wealthy Manhattanites, dressed in their finest, toasted their own virtue while feigning solidarity with the Black Panthers.

"The posturing that Wolfe’s original critique targeted has since devolved into something far more chilling: a modern cynical flirtation with violence and extremism, best described as terrorism chic.

"Mind you, our cultural elite don’t do the actual terrorism.  They leave the dirty work to their more fervent devotees, like the assassin of Charlie Kirk and the killer of the schoolchildren praying in a Catholic church in Minneapolis.

"Today’s cultural elite wield their influence not by reasoned debate, but through a constant drumbeat labeling political opponents as Nazis, extremists, and dictators.  In this rhetorical war, even a benign phrase like “Make America Great Again” is weaponized, its four words recast as a slur expressing fascist ideology.  This relentless vilification is a calculated effort to inflame passions and obliterate common ground.

"One of the casing from Charlie Kirk’s killer reportedly bore the inscription “Hey fascist, CATCH!”  The alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, was likely convinced he was a hero, extinguishing a “hater” and striking a blow for justice.  The profound irony is lost on both him and the cultural forces that shaped his belief: In silencing a public debater and vocal proponent of free speech with a bullet, they adopted the playbook they claim to despise.  In this brutal act, the ultimate tool of fascism was used to eliminate a voice they could not defeat rationally.

"Nor is Charlie Kirk the only victim.  How many impressionable adolescents’ lives have been ruined by being taught gender nonsense and queer ideology?  Throw in all the innocent people harmed by terrorism chic in other ways, such as homicide victims from the open border push from our cultural elite or by their patrons, blue municipalities, who have a revolving door for violent criminal offenders.  When you add it up, the body count is staggering, with no end in sight." . . . More.      Matthew Karl is a pseudonym.

Dallas Shooter Searched for Apps That Track ICE Activity, Hoped Attack Would Cause ‘Real Terror’ Among Agents

 National Review

"One person who was arrested while fleeing the scene, Bradford Morris, claimed that the attack was meant to be a peaceful protest."  Comment to the post.

PBS News

"The man who orchestrated a “targeted attack” on a Dallas, Texas, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement facility this week searched for apps that track ICE activity, and sought to cause “real terror” among agents, the FBI revealed.

"Joshua Jahn, 29, is suspected of shooting at an unmarked transport van driven by an ATF agent on Wednesday, killing one detainee and injuring two others. Jahn took his own life after the attack. Next to his body, authorities found shell casings with anti-ICE messages engraved on them.

"Authorities have described the shooting as “an attack on ICE law enforcement,” a description bolstered by new evidence that “indicates a high degree of pre-attack planning,” FBI Director Kash Patel said on Thursday.

"On Jahn’s personal devices, the FBI found a document downloaded titled “Dallas County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management,” which listed DHS facilities. Jahn also conducted multiple searches of ballistics, according to the FBI, and searched for “Charlie Kirk Shot Video” just one day before the Dallas shooting.

"A handwritten note recovered from Jahn read, “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?'”

"Between September 19-24, Jahn also searched for apps that track ICE activity.

"Numerous apps that alert individuals to the presence of ICE agents in their area have been launched since President Donald Trump began his crackdown on illegal immigration. It is unclear which apps Jahn used.

"Anti-ICE tracking platforms are “no different than giving a hitman coordinates,” Acting Executive Associate Director of Enforcement and Removal Operations for ICE Marcos Charles said on Thursday." . . .

. . . "As always, the left is the party of violence. The media is trying to blame Trump, or claim that the gunman was a registered independent, or make other excuses, first for its words of violence which set the tone, and then for its series of bullet-spraying killers. They got Charlie Kirk. They have launched innumerable attacks on lawmen doing their jobs. They keyed Teslas. Everywhere, everywhere, there is violence, even on people they claim to champion." Does California Want To Start A Civil War?

 Issues & Insights

"But wars are often primed by what at the time seemed like an inconsequential event – maybe something so minor as an armed standoff between California law enforcement officers and federal agents in which a nervous trigger finger or accidental discharge set off a gun battle."

Broc Smith

"The California Legislature passed, and Gov. Gavin Newsom eagerly signed, a bill that forbids law enforcement officers from concealing their identities with masks. The law applies to local as well as federal officers, but it’s clearly intended to make it easier to dox federal immigration agents. Of course the administration says it will ignore the law. So what happens when local and state officers try to enforce it?

"A war?

"California also forbids federal agents from enforcing immigration lw in state courthouses. Again, the potential for blue-on-blue violence is ramped up by a Democratic majority that believes immigration law should be ignored.

"We admit that masked-up federal agents wearing paramilitary garb is a bit unsettling. While they carry badges and credentials, and identify themselves when needed, it’s not the ideal way to enforce law in this country.

"But we fully understand why they conceal themselves. They don’t want to get doxxed. This is exactly what they are afraid of, Gov. Newsom. And you knew that when you asked the question, and Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries knew it when he said “every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes, will be identified.

"The Democrats are clearly in the intimidation business.

"According to Homeland Security, there has been a 1,000% increase in violence against ICE agents. By hiding their faces, they are protecting themselves and their families from feral gang members, cartel cutthroats, Antifa and the many loose-screw leftists who solidly anchor the Democratic Party’s base.

"They are hunted even within their own spaces. A man targeted the Dallas ICE facility Wednesday, sniper-style, shooting three detainees with anti-ICE messages on his ammunition, killing one before taking his own life, authorities say." . . . More.

Qatari Prime Minister: Donald Trump Is ‘Only One’ in the World Who Can Achieve Peace in Gaza

Matthew Boyle

"Asked if he means that Trump has the power to succeed here unlike anyone else, Al Thani simply replied: “Yes. He’s the President of the United States.' ” Well, so was Biden. TD

"NEW YORK — Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani told Breitbart News exclusively in an interview here on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that the entire Arab world is looking to American President Donald Trump as the “only one” who can help bring peace to Gaza.

“ 'I believe that the meeting with the Arab and Muslim leaders that took place with President Trump was a very important meeting,” Al Thani told Breitbart News exclusively. “It was a very important event during the UNGA. Basically, the main purpose of that is to highlight for the president the danger for the region and that we need to put a stop to what Israel is doing. Basically, it’s not only jeopardizing the security of the region, it’s jeopardizing even the U.S. interests in the region and jeopardizing the partnerships that the U.S. has built throughout decades in that region. The president was very receptive. He listened to all the leaders and he wants to work together with them to find a solution to this and put an end to it. We believe that everything should start with Gaza — stopping the war in Gaza and build out from there — because if you look at it today Israel and Netanyahu, it’s not the entire country but it’s Netanyahu, is setting the stage for the region that he has no boundaries and no red lines. He will do whatever he wants wherever he wants.”

"Al Thani sat for about half an hour with Breitbart News at the Qatari permanent mission to the United Nations early on Thursday afternoon for a wide-ranging discussion on a number of major issues. Al Thani’s interview with Breitbart News came after Trump met earlier this week with Arab leaders here after his address to the UNGA, and in the aftermath of Israel’s decision to conduct a military strike on Doha — Qatar’s capital — in an apparent effort to eliminate Hamas negotiators. While much is still unknown about the Israeli attack’s effectiveness, the fact that many Qataris were injured and at least one — a security official — was killed has enraged Qataris and the Arab world. Trump himself issued a statement afterwards saying he did not think the attack was productive or in the U.S. or Israeli interest.

“ 'Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals,” Trump said on Truth Social in the immediate aftermath of the strike.". . .  More

DOJ Reportedly Prepares Soros-Funded Group Investigation

 GlobEye

"Whether the plans described by the Times develop into an official inquiry or remain behind closed doors, this story highlights the way Soros continues to be at the center of global political debate." . . . "For now, with the facts still uncertain and no formal DOJ action announced, this remains a developing story that will continue to draw intense attention in the weeks ahead."

"The New York Times has reported that multiple U.S. Attorneys have been directed to draft potential plans to investigate an organization linked to billionaire George Soros, a figure whose name has long sparked heated debate in American politics. Soros, known for founding the Open Society Foundations, has poured billions of dollars into causes ranging from education to public health and democratic development around the world. At the same time, his activities have made him one of the most polarizing names in political discourse, often the subject of both praise and suspicion.

"According to the Times, the Department of Justice’s interest stems from recent concerns raised about groups funded by Soros. A 2025 analysis from the Capital Research Center alleged that more than $80 million had been funneled since 2016 into organizations with ties to political unrest or extremist violence. However, no peer-reviewed studies or formal DOJ findings have confirmed such claims. What exists so far are allegations and secondary reports, which makes the situation murky and controversial.

"This latest development comes against the backdrop of President Trump’s renewed criticism of Soros. Earlier this year, he suggested that Soros might be investigated under RICO laws, the same statutes used to pursue organized crime. For Trump and his allies, the argument has been that Soros is not just a donor but an orchestrator of unrest in the United States, funding activism and protest movements that they believe destabilize the country. For critics of the president, these moves represent something else entirely: the politicization of federal law enforcement and an attempt to weaken progressive infrastructure by targeting its most prominent funder.

"The international context adds another layer. Soros was indicted in Hungary in 2018 for allegedly destabilizing the government there, though that indictment was widely criticized as politically motivated and lacking in evidence. For many observers, the parallels are clear. Once again, a powerful government is training its sights on the billionaire, not necessarily on the strength of hard evidence but because of the political weight his name carries." . . .More...

Gavin Newsom signs law banning most law enforcement officers from wearing masks during operations

Context of the Law

  • "The legislation, known as the “No Secret Police Act,” aims to enhance transparency and accountability in law enforcement, particularly addressing concerns raised during immigration raids where federal agents masked their identities.
  • "This law is part of broader package intended to curb the aggressive immigration enforcement tactics increasing under the Trump administration, which sparked fears and protests in
  • California communities.

Key Provisions

  • "The law prohibits local and federal law enforcement from hiding their faces with masks such
  • as ski masks and balaclavas during official operations, with some exceptions for undercover
  • work and medical masks.
  • "It aims to restore trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve, especially
  • in areas heavily impacted by immigration enforcement.
  • Implications

    • "While fostering sense of accountability and visibility, the law has faced criticism from law
    • enforcement for potentially endangering officers in the field.
    • "Governors’ actions have elicited strong responses from federal authorities, with claims that the regulations may interfere with necessary operational procedures and put officers at risk." . . .

Jasmine Crockett: A demagogue after Joy Reid's own heart.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett Goes on Ugly Racist Rant About 'White Tears,' Gets Zero Pushback from CNN Anchor  CNN allowed Texas Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett to go on a racial tirade against white people with no pushback.

While appearing on CNN's "Laura Coates Live" program on Monday, the sophomore lawmaker slammed "mediocre white boys" who complain about diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

"The coddling is for the white boys. That's what's happening right now. I am tired of the white tears. Listen, if you are competent, you are not concerned," Crockett said." . . .

Davy Crockett must be ecstatic knowing he is unrelated to Jasmine!  . . . "But making things up is all part of Crockett’s modus operandi. On the day of Charlie Kirk’s funeral, she proved unable to demonstrate a scintilla of respect for the conservative legend during a CNN interview. Well aware that she is rarely queried to back up what she claims with facts, when asked if she bears any responsibility to tone down her language after his assassination and the two attempts on President Donald Trump’s life, she responded absolutely not.

"Referring once more to Trump as a “wannabe Hitler” and claiming to use “accurate language,” she offered no proof other than to say his administration was “using Hitler’s playbook.” Going on to claim, incorrectly, that Kirk had once suggested, “who should live and who should die,” she rejected any responsibility for inciting violence against conservative voices.

"If anyone is using a propaganda playbook, it is Crockett. She uses it to go as far as to suggest any reports of Black Lives Matter riots following the death of George Floyd are simply propaganda."

"Crockett is reckless with her facts and callous with her hatred."

The Absurd Nazi Label on American Christians; How critics turn faithful Christians into fascist foes.

 American Spectator

Mark Agard: Unsplash

"James Wood’s recent essay in Plough sets out to warn against the dangers of Christian nationalism but reads more like a sermon looking for sinners than a work of careful theology. The tone is lofty, the language charged, yet the argument falters under the weight of exaggeration. His central move is to enlist the French Jesuit theologian Henri de Lubac as a weapon against Christians today who express loyalty to nation or culture. But in doing so, Wood reveals less about de Lubac and more about his own unease with contemporary Christianity.
"From the outset, Wood chooses caricature over clarity. He suggests that Christians who raise questions about immigration, demographic shifts, or cultural cohesion are, in effect, crypto-Nazis hiding in plain sight. This is not analysis but alarmism. To equate ordinary believers concerned about preserving traditions with fascistic forces is reckless. It trivializes genuine historical evil while demonizing those trying to grapple honestly with complicated social realities. Even commentators outside the church would hesitate to draw such wild associations.
"This tendency is on display in his historical comparisons. Wood draws a line between French Catholics under Vichy and American Christians today. The analogy falls apart on first inspection. Vichy collaborators were complicit in genocide; evangelicals advocating border enforcement or celebrating cultural heritage are engaged in politics, not mass murder. One was a moral catastrophe, the other a contest over policy. To fold the two into a single tale of Christian failure is not only absurd, it cheapens the memory of real victims while insulting those who hold legitimate concerns about the present.
"His theological case suffers from the same lack of balance. Wood insists that because Christians are destined for a supernatural end beyond this world, any strong sense of national or cultural belonging is necessarily idolatrous. Yet the Bible tells a richer story. Revelation describes a multitude gathered before the throne, drawn “from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages.” Distinctiveness is not erased but embraced in redeemed form. Christianity does not require the rejection of cultural loyalty; it requires its reordering. Earthly ties are not ultimate, but neither are they meaningless." . . .

Now Even Stay-At-Home Moms are Fascist
"If we’ve learned anything from the last several weeks, it’s not just a petty, nonsensical label; it’s a dangerous threat."
‘Fascist’ Is the Dumbest Political Insult in the World Today
‘Fascist’ is not a synonym for ‘someone you don’t like.’  "But one thing can be said for the American Left — they are not into persuading anyone anymore. They’re into emoting."

MSNBC went so woke, it literally broke

And they were fine with the ugliness of Joy Reid's bitter thoughts. TD

 Joseph Ford Cotto

"Cut off from NBC’s resources, burdened by plunging ratings, and abandoned by advertisers, MS NOW represents the fate awaiting media empires that mistake partisan fervor for a sustainable business plan."

"Once upon a time, MSNBC was the crown jewel of progressive media, a cable empire drawing millions of loyal viewers by selling a steady stream of anti-conservative narratives. In its glory days during November 2020, the network averaged 2.6 million primetime viewers, the highest in its history, riding a wave of Trump-versus-Biden hysteria.

"Yet that period of cultural dominance and advertising gold have long since vanished. What remains is a network rebranded as “MS NOW,” struggling to stay solvent and increasingly cut off from the very resources that once allowed it to punch above its weight.

"The unraveling has been swift. By 2022, MSNBC’s primetime audience had already dropped by 25 percent from 2021 highs, falling to just 1.2 million viewers. That collapse brought with it steep ad revenue losses, costing NBCUniversal’s news division hundreds of millions. The writing was on the wall: trendy ideological programming might stir a base, but it alienates advertisers and broader audiences.

"By 2023, the network’s primetime audience hovered around 1.22 million, a mere shadow of its 2020 glory, with total-day viewership stuck below 800,000. Despite fleeting bumps during election cycles, MSNBC had already become a financial liability.

"The downfall accelerated after Trump’s 2024 victory. Ratings nosedived as disillusioned viewers fled the echo chamber. In the first quarter of 2025, primetime ratings sank to 1.024 million, an 18 percent year-over-year decline, with total-day audiences cratering 27 percent to 593,000. Such hemorrhaging translated into staggering losses, with projections estimating NBCUniversal’s cable news arm bleeding over half a billion dollars annually.

"The network’s response was desperate cost-cutting. In January 2025, MSNBC initiated layoffs affecting around 75 employees across divisions. The following month, nearly 100 union staffers from flagship shows like The Rachel Maddow Show were let go. Joy Reid was shown the door as The ReidOut collapsed under abysmal ratings." . . . More

Rachel didn't want to hear about the risky gay  . . . "Her other problem is a raw dishonesty. Maddow confronted her and she started walking it back: "No, no, no, that’s not what I said, that he couldn’t be on the ticket because he is gay."

"Of course it was. The VP's campaign team did not want to run the risk of having a man married to another man raising two kids on the ticket.

The five bills Gavin Newsom signed made California the first state to bar federal officers, including ICE, from hiding their identities

Gavin Newsom signs bill banning ICE agents from wearing masks during operations - MEAWW News
For now, the spotlight remains on ICE. Whether the agency complies or fights back in court could determine how much power California truly has to set its own ground rules when it comes to immigration enforcement

."SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA: On Saturday, September 20, 2025, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a controversial new law that bans most law enforcement officers, including federal immigration agents, from covering their faces while carrying out official duties."Senate Bill 627, known as the No Secret Police Act, will take effect January 1, 2026, and already has sparked heated debate across the country.

New law cracks down on masked agents
"The bill, authored by state Senator Scott Wiener, specifically prohibits ski masks, balaclavas, gaiters, and similar face coverings worn by officers during enforcement actions. It applies to local police, state troopers, sheriffs, and even federal agents such as ICE operating in California.
"Exceptions include undercover assignments, tactical raids, or medical face coverings like N95s.
"In addition, the law requires officers to clearly display their badges or identification unless a valid exemption applies. Supporters argue this will make it harder for officers to intimidate residents while concealing their identities.". . .
"Federal officials were quick to push back. The Department of Homeland Security blasted the law as “despicable,” warning that removing masks from agents leaves them vulnerable to retaliation.
"ICE representatives say anonymity is essential because officers often face harassment, stalking, and threats against their families.
Legal experts also warn that the law may not stand up in court.
"Federal supremacy laws generally override state rules when conflicts arise, raising doubts about whether California can force federal agents to comply. Lawsuits challenging SB 627 are widely expected." . . .

No, Newsom’s California police cannot arrest masked ICE officers: Former cops   . . ." 'When a federal officer is acting within their official capacity and doing what they believe is ... within the scope of their employment, they cannot be prosecuted, even if it in fact violated a state law," said Fahey, now partner with the Holtzman Vogel law firm in Washington. "Everyone knows that [California] can't do this."

Bill Johnson, executive director of a national police organization representing more than a quarter of a million officers, agreed with Fahey.

" 'It seems pretty clear from a constitutional perspective that any efforts by California to thwart federal law enforcement actions will fail under the federal constitution's Supremacy Clause," said Johnson, who leads the National Association of Police Organizations. "No doubt the governor and his advisers are aware of this, but once again have chosen the cheap theatrics of another ill-advised state policy that will be quickly struck down." . . .

Was The Escalator ‘Failure’ At The UN A Pre-Meditated Snub Against The POTUS?

"If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the President and First Lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately."

"Just one day earlier, the London Times talks about the escalator at the UN accidentally-on-purpose failing to make a political point and then he shows up and … well wouldja look at that!

Wild of the Times to report on a nutty conspiracy theory even BEFORE it really happened, isn’t it?

"Let’s go back to the beginning. Yesterday was the day for Trump’s big address to the United Nations. Right off the top in his speech, he called out two ‘malfunctions’ he had encountered since he arrived. First, the elevator ‘malfunctioned’ while he and the First Lady as soon as they stepped on it. Second, was the teleprompter mysteriously not working… until it did partway through his speech.

"Undaunted, he used both as part of the framing of the UN’s own poor judgment and failure to get things done properly. If it was an attempt to fluster him or make him screw up his speech, it backfired.    Just one day earlier, the London Times talks about the escalator at the UN accidentally-on-purpose failing to make a political point and then he shows up and … well wouldja look at that!" . . Trump Gets a Letter From Maduro. Venezuela Gets More Trouble at Sea. Democrats Melt Down.

But back to Maduro. We learned over the weekend that the shaken dictator sent a letter to Trump, begging for diplomacy." Sarah Anderson

PJ Media  "Every time I write something about our current entanglement with Venezuela lately, something else explodes just after we publish it. Sometimes literally. On Friday, I gave a little update on, among other things, how many cartel boats out of the South American country that our military has blown up and then walked away from my computer for the day, only for President Donald Trump to announce via social media that we got another one. This time, we killed three narco-terrorists. " . . .

"If you're keeping track at home, that's the fourth cartel boat out of Venezuela that the United States has blown up this month. Both the president and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have suggested that it won't be the last and that the action is actually deterring cartels from taking to the Caribbean Sea to spread their poison to the rest of the Hemisphere and more specifically, our country. Meanwhile, officials in the Dominican Republic say they seized "377 packages of cocaine" from one of the boats destroyed last week.

"The words and actions of Venezuela's illegitimate president Nicolás Maduro prove that he's rattled, and he should be. He's on the brink of losing everything, and there is a $50 million reward out for him.

"Apparently, Democrats are equally rattled. Last week, Sens. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Tim Kaine (D-Va.) introduced a resolution that would stop these strikes on the drug boats, even though most Americans agree with the president's actions. The bill won't pass, and even if it did, Trump would veto it, but it does, as The Hill points out, force Republican senators to praise or condemn the actions on the record. Schiff and Kaine both spoke on the measure on Friday, and it sounds like they're both just sad that they're not involved." . . .  More
