Israel: One of Many

Victor Davis Hanson "Once the U.S. blinks, the floodgates open — that is the real lesson from the incremental, but unmistakable shift in U.S.-Israeli relations. Like radical shifts in thinking about healthcare, energy use, and amnesty, so too abroad Obama realizes that the difficult process of "change," in this case of becoming a neutral in the Middle East and deeming Israel's democracy unexceptional in the region, will require all sorts of dissimulation, denials, clarifications, and acrimony." The thought of shooting down Israeli planes is frightening as is the thought of America becoming Vichy France under the feckless Marshall Petain.

The Five Craziest Attacks on Tea Parties

Newsbusters "In case there are any residual doubts about how bad the tea partiers have been treated, here are the Top Five ways the left and the media have abused a grassroots movement. The coverage has been so hateful and so biased, it was almost impossible to narrow the list. Here they are in reverse order, just in time for the big tea party events April 15:"...

Study in Contrast: press treatment of anti-Bush vs anti-Democrat protests. (well, sort of)

Powerline Blog "Barone situates the Tea Party movement at one end of "an argument between the heirs of two fundamental schools of political thought, the Founders and the Progressives." Barone describes it as an old argument that has "been raised again by the expand-government policies of the Obama administration and Democratic congressional leaders." " Powerline Blog "...four minutes of nonstop examples of violent imagery and extremist rhetoric employed by left-wing anti-Bush protesters. He writes: "For some reason, despite it being well documented at the time by me and many others, the media chose to ignore it." "

Spinning Obama’s Foreign-Policy Flops

Commentary " “[Obama] is beginning to face a crisis of efficacy.” In other words, despite all the reverential treatment by liberal elites, Obama has yet to develop effective ties with allies or used public diplomacy to further American interests. His infatuation with dictatorial regimes, his embrace of multilateralism, and his willingness to kick allies ... in the shins have left America more isolated and rogue states more emboldened than ever before. "

War Against the Tea Party Part II

Big Government "Once again, Americans are being pitted against Americans, irrespective of the truth, at a level we have not since the Clinton era. The significant difference, however, is under the Obama Administration, instead of singling out individuals to target, smear and destroy; entire segments of Americans are under attack." Marinka Peschmann

PROTESTING FALLEN MARINES FUNERAL

Nealz Nuze "In 2006, Fred Phelps decides that he and his cult followers were going to show up to protest the funeral of Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who was killed in Iraq. The father of the fallen Marine, Albert Snyder, sued the Phelps and the cult claiming invasion of privacy and emotional distress. " Then the trouble began...

Welcome to the Real Revolution, Alinsky Fans: It Ain’t For Wimps Or Sissies

Big Journalism Will Collier has just explained in exacting detail the most probable explanation for how Nancy Pelosi ... could have staged their “confrontation” with Tea Partiers outside the capitol on March 20. Claims that the N-word and spit were employed as weapons by Tea Partiers have yet to be corroborated by a single witness or video recording."... Kyle-Anne Shiver

Henry Waxman: The Witch Hunter of Capitol Hill

National Review "If he isn’t meddling, he isn’t working. And if he isn’t using his powers to bully, bulldoze, or bankrupt his enemies, he is failing the gods of progressivism." Michelle Malkin

Next Battle: Immigration; How it will all play out

Victor Davis Hanson "We know the boilerplate well after a year of health-care acrimony. First, immigration policy — like health care, and cap-and-trade to come — will be cast as a civil-rights issue. That is, free access to the United States and, for some, its entitlement industry for millions of impoverished Mexicans will be redefined as comparable to ending discrimination in the South in the 1960s. Next, skeptics will be branded “racists” and “nativists,” as is being done now to the tea partiers. A few House members will wade through anti-illegal-immigration rallies, and within minutes the media will announce “racial slurs” and “a scary atmosphere” suggesting “violence” and “hatred.” This polarization is critical for the bill’s passage, since it does not have 50 percent public support — and won’t unless a series of constituencies can be united to see the issue in polarities such as us vs. them, whites vs. people of color, rich vs. poor. Blacks will be told it is Birmingham all over again. The Mexican-American middle class, highly skeptical of open borders, will be told that opposition to amnesty is “anti-Hispanic.” " Much more inside...

Obama to Open Offshore Areas to Oil Drilling for First Time

NY Times "Unlike the Bush plan, however, Mr. Obama’s proposal would put Bristol Bay, home to major Alaskan commercial fisheries and populations of endangered whales, off limits to oil rigs. Actual drilling in much of the newly opened areas, if it takes place, would not begin for years. " Many places, however are off limits. Via Heritage.

Liberal Bloopers: Iowa Town Renames Good Friday to 'Spring Holiday'

ABC News "Citing the Separation of Church and State, Davenport Nixes Holy Day." Bob Newhart had a great line he uttered in one of the "Newhart" episodes featuring a meeting full of local town characters: his character Dick Loudon said he'd never seen so much stupidity concentrated in one place. That comes to mind often when reading about progressive bloopers.
