Not the Babylon Bee: LA County Bans Televisions in Outdoor Dining Spaces in New COVID Safety Rules

RedState  "Governor Newsom’s about-face regarding the state’s draconian stay-at-home orders last week threw a lot of people for a loop. While business owners were excited to have the opportunity to resume some form of normalcy, they were also angry at the lack of reasoning or explanations coming from Sacramento. Why the sudden change? None of the available data has changed.

"Of course, we know that this was a political move on Newsom’s part. Administration insiders are whispering to the press that Newsom has finally started taking the current recall petition against him seriously. Rumors were floating around earlier in the week that the Biden team was furious at Warden Governor Newsom for defying their official line on COVID closures, accusing him of making the move purely for political purposes.

"Of course, Newsom’s backtrack didn’t mean that the entire state would open immediately. It simply means that counties are out from under state stay-at-home orders and can regulate their businesses according to the situation on the ground in their own municipalities. Los Angeles, however, is Sacramento on steroids. While they have been on the harshest lockdowns in the state, their COVID numbers have continued to grow exponentially, most notably among the senior population. Their county regulations have been every bit as insane as the state guidelines underpinning them." . . .

Democrats Outraged at Maxine Waters' Comments...They Just Don't Know She Said Them

Townhall  "Democrats are outraged after a Twitter troll exposed the rank hypocrisy of the Democratic Party for the umpteenth time. It didn't take much to trigger Democrats. The troll simply used a quote by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) calling on her supporters to harass

members of the former Trump administration but altered the quote to target Gov. Andrew Cuomo's (D-NY) administration. Suddenly, Waters' words are "way way way over the line," "totally unacceptable," and a clear "incitement" to violence.

"Waters called on her supporters to harass members of the Trump administration when they see such individuals out in public.

""Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up," Waters said in 2018. "And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere."

"The Twitter troll, using the handle @CuomoWatch, published the Democrat congresswoman's quote but substituted the Cuomo administration for the Trump cabinet.

"If you see anybody from the Cuomo Administration in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere," the tweet read.

"Various Democrats believe the words, now that they are directed at a Democrat, are totally unacceptable. And it only took a parody for Democrats to see the light.

"Lis Smith, a former senior adviser to Pete Buttigieg, said the words are "way way way over the line," given what happened at the Capitol on Jan 6. As a reminder, Maxine Waters made her comments after a Bernie Sanders supporter shot congressional Republicans at a baseball game." . .More...

Bed, Bath & Beyond stock collapses by 36% after Mike Lindell canceled

Daily Wire

Shoppers at a Bed, Bath & Beyond are informed of a
 boycott against the chain.

"Amid a boycott in response to its politically motivated decision to drop Mike Lindell's MyPillow products, shares of Bed Bath & Beyond plunged 36.4% at the close of trading Thursday.

"The retail chain suffered its biggest one-day loss since going public in June 1992.

"The consumer organization Media Action Network launched the boycott of Bed, Bath & Beyond after the retail chain stopped selling Lindell's products due to his support of President Trump's claim that fraud affected the outcome of the 2020 election. Retailers Wayfair and Kohl's also have stopped selling MyPillow products.

"Lindell, famous for his TV ads, employs more than 1,500 people at his Minnesota plant. He recounted to WND last May the remarkable transformation in his life through his faith in Jesus Christ.

" 'This isn't about pillows. It's about the continual punishment of conservative speech," Media Action Network founder Ken LaCorte said in an announcement of the boycott." . . .

Mike Lindell Targeted, Help Him Today!

Twitter Drops The Hammer, Announces Permanent Ban On Another Popular Conservative, Mike Lindell  "Twitter didn’t say which of Lindell’s posts pushed it over the edge. But he had used his personal account and My Pillow’s corporate account in recent months to post and share bogus rumors about widespread election fraud that appeared aimed at undermining President Biden’s victory."

My Pillow Announces Delays in Shipments Following “Overwhelming Support” for Company and Its Founder Mike Lindell   "Last week news broke that Dominion Voting Systems threatened My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell with a letter dated December 23, 2020, from defamation lawyers. In the letter, Dominion lawyer Thomas A. Clare called Lindell’s attacks on the voting company used in all six contested states “implausible,” adding they have “no basis in reality.”

"100 Percent Fed Up later reported – Mike Lindell is not the only person who received a threatening letter from Dominion—at least one GOP poll challenger in Michigan (who never even mentioned Dominion in her affidavit) received a threatening letter from Dominion.

"Mike Lindell, a devout Christian, is not worried about a letter from Dominion lawyers threatening defamation. Like President Trump, Lindell is a fighter and is vowing to fight back, telling Axios that he’s looking forward to Dominion’s lawsuit. “I want Dominion to put up their lawsuit because we have 100% evidence that China and other countries used their machines to steal the election.' ”

"Among those orders were the termination of the Keystone XL Pipeline and the end of President Donald Trump’s border wall construction.

Biden’s ‘racial justice’ agenda: Judge everyone by the color of their skin

NY Post

"On Tuesday, six days into Joe Biden’s administration, it became clear why Susan Rice, hitherto a foreign-policy specialist, was named director of the Domestic Policy Council. Rice — unconfirmable for a Cabinet post after her unembarrassed Sunday-show lying about the Benghazi terrorist attack — ventured into the White House press room to preview Biden’s “equity” initiative.

"With one possible exception, the specific policies announced were less important than the word “equity,” invoked 19 times by Rice and nine by Biden. Ending federal private prison contracts and combating “xenophobia” against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are small potatoes as federal policies.

"Not so, perhaps, with the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing initiative, started under former President Barack Obama, repealed under former President Donald Trump and now due for spirited revival. The idea is for the feds to reverse local zoning laws and plant low-income housing in suburbs deemed insufficiently diverse.

"Actually, discrimination in housing has been reduced since the 1968 federal Fair Housing Act, to the point that in metropolitan areas from Washington to Atlanta to Los Angeles, most blacks now live in suburbs, not in the central cities.

"But for Rice and Biden, “equity” requires not equality of opportunity but equality of results. That’s one of the fundamental tenets of critical race theory training banned by outgoing Trumpites and reinstated by Biden on Day 1." . . .

“It is grievous that one of President Biden’s first official acts actively promotes the destruction of human lives in developing nations."

“This Executive Order is antithetical to reason, violates human dignity, and is incompatible with Catholic teaching.

"We and our brother bishops strongly oppose this action."

O'Rourke mulling run for Texas governor

The Hill   "Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) said this week he is considering a 2022 gubernatorial run, setting up a potential challenge against incumbent Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R).

"It's something I'm going to think about," O'Rourke told Buzz Adams on Texas radio station KLAQ on Monday.

"O'Rourke went on to hit Abbott's handling of the coronavirus pandemic, accusing him of having a "complete indifference" to steps local leaders are trying to take to save lives amid the public health crisis.

" 'This state has suffered perhaps more than any other in the midst of this pandemic, in the midst of the worst recession since the Great Depression. And it is particularly galling to you and to me and everyone who is listening that El Paso in one of the hardest-hit states was, if not is, the hardest-hit city," O'Rourke said.

" 'I want to make sure that we have someone in the highest office in our state to make sure that all of us are OK," he said. "Whether I'm a candidate for governor or I support someone who's a candidate for governor, I want to make sure that we have excellence in leadership and that excellence goes to every single part of the state, including ours.' " . . .

So now we're going to tax miles driven?

Democrats: every morning we wake up wondering what they will do to us next. TD

American Thinker  "Last week, Pete Buttigieg began confirmation hearings for his appointment as Transportation secretary.  During the question-and-answer session, we discovered why President Asterisk favors Mayor Pete for this position.  It seems he has a radical new idea for how to fund highway maintenance and development, which the new administration favors.  Funding for our highway infrastructure is currently supported via a fuel tax — 18.4 cents per gallon of gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon of diesel.  Mayor Pete's proposal is to move to a tax on miles driven rather than fuel consumed.

It seems that the administration is concerned that drivers of electric cars are not paying their fair share.  Thank God we're past the silliness of the Trump administration.  The adults are back in town, and the Harris/Biden administration is tackling the inequity of highway funding head on.  I'm sure racism is involved somehow.  I haven't figured that angle out yet, but I'm sure that the white privilege of owning an electric car has something to do with it." . . .

..."The next time I'm out in my pickup truck and come upon a slow-moving hybrid with a Biden/Harris bumper sticker, I'll find great comfort in knowing that its driver is paying as much to use the highway as I am." ...

Off to a Bad START: Putin Schools Biden with One Phone Call

The DIANNY Image Vault

 Lynn Corum

Whatever Biden actually said during that phone call, it has inspired Putin to embark on a whole new weapons program. Hail to our Commander-in-Chief!

"According to Russian news service Ria Novosti, on Tuesday, the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, held a telephone conversation.  During the conversation, Biden and Putin agreed to a five-year extension of START-3, until 2026, “100% on Russian terms, without additions, in the form in which it was originally signed.”  As a result of the call, the authorized Duma committees were ordered to urgently take the necessary steps to extend START-3.  On that same day, Putin submitted to the State Duma a bill on the ratification of START-3 through 2026; it immediately passed.  Putin’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov enthused that “START-3 is being extended on Russian terms, for 5 years, without any conditions or additional requirements, without attempts to change the START verification regime, without those, in our view, absurd and unacceptable aspirations of the previous administration to make sure to draw the PRC [China] into this process without fail."

"Biden ran on a platform that was endorsed by the entire American security and foreign policy establishment. The platform stand was to rebuild international multilateralism, taking no actions without coordination with our allies. Trump was routinely condemned by the establishment for insisting on the “America First” approach in foreign policy. Biden’s promise of multilateral cooperation with allies didn’t last a week. Indeed, he showed even more disregard for America’s NATO allies than Trump ever did. Biden’s phone call to Russian President Putin was his first serious test of foreign and security policy; he flunked. In the course of that one phone call, he casually agreed to a five-year extension of the New START Treaty, a treaty that originally took months to negotiate." . . .

Danger and Disgrace on Inauguration Day

What’s even more disturbing about the military presence is that, as Tucker points out, it appears that the Pentagon has thrown its weight entirely to the Democrat party. Certainly, it is following the ludicrous ‘insurrection’ narrative. We see clearly that the one institution in America that was entirely non-partisan, at least at the upper levels, has become just another part of the Deep State. It seems that Obama succeeded in changing management in the Pentagon.

Intellectual Takeout   . . . "This military occupation of Washington D.C. also raises some questions.

"When some in the previous administration advocated putting National Guard troops on our border to prevent what amounts to an invasion of our country, why did so many on the left resist that measure?

"When rioters were burning and looting our cities all summer long, and some wished to send the Guard to put a stop to those thugs and vandals, why did some governors refuse to use the military to quell these riots?

"How long will the National Guard remain in Washington? What exactly is their mission statement? All military units have mission statements, but do we know what our leaders intend to do with this force once Inauguration Day has passed?

"The swell of troops to our nation’s capitol is a disconcerting sight. Is this show of force based on real information and apprehension about an armed mob entering the city? Or is it intended to go hand-in-hand with the recent attacks on some members of our Congress and Big Tech’s silencing of thousands of Americans, including a presiding president, to drive home the point that the government now in charge will brook no nonsense about such freedoms as those of speech and assembly? Do we still live in a republic or are we now in a dictatorship?

"On Monday evening, Jan. 18, Tucker Carlson rightly railed against this massive turnout of soldiers and the dangerous suggestions of a Congressman and a retired colonel, with the latter advocating for the military to put down domestic terrorists. In this case he apparently meant those who voted for Donald Trump. You can watch this video and read Andrea Widburg’s accompanying article here." . . .

Female Athletes Explain How a Biden Executive Order Threatens Women’s Sports

And regarding women's gymnastics in Olympics trials.....?

Alliance Defending Freedom "Last week, President Joe Biden wasted no time in pushing policies that threaten to gut legal protections for women and girls.

"Unfortunately, we’ve already gotten a glimpse of what this means. The past few years, we’ve watched as female athletes have increasingly lost out on championship titles and opportunities to advance to the next level of competition. All because of policies like those President Biden is pushing."

"Take Connecticut for example, where a state athletic association policy permits male athletes who identify as females to compete on girls’ athletic teams. Under this policy, two male athletes in the state won 15 championship titles and over 85 chances to advance to higher levels of competition that belonged to deserving girls.

"Alliance Defending Freedom has stepped in and filed a lawsuit on behalf of several of these female athletes.

"But now, that threat could be taken nationwide.

"On January 20, President Biden signed an executive order instructing federal agencies to reinterpret federal laws and regulations that prohibit sex discrimination—including Title IX, which prohibits sex discrimination in schools that receive federal funds—to include “gender identity.”

"With this executive order, the Biden administration is declaring that the real, biological differences between men and women don’t matter.

"But those female athletes in Connecticut know that isn’t true. And they appeared on Fox News over the weekend to share how policies like these threaten equal educational and athletic opportunities for women and girls.

"Ultimately, when our laws ignore the differences between men and women, it is most often women and girls who get hurt. Selina, Chelsea, and Alanna can attest to that.

"Under President Biden’s executive order, situations like theirs would become a nationwide reality. And that should concern us all.

"Our country was founded on the principle that we are all created equal. But policies like those laid out in Biden’s executive order do not treat women equally."

A political agenda should never trump the equal opportunities of women and girls. And if it does, you can rest assured that ADF will be there to stand up for their rights—all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary."
