Was Rush set up?

By Thomas Lifson "So the question has to be asked: was Rush lured into a manufactured controversy? Now, he has to devote time and energy to defend himself from widely reported slanders and outdated photo ridicule. Meanwhile, his political enemies on the left get that much less scrutiny from the nation's most prominent conservative analyst."

Rush Limbaugh: The Search for the Wikipedia Libelist

American Thinker "The quotes were added by a user with the IP address of 69.64.213.146. This address has been used mostly to make changes to the article about Rush, but also Karl Rove, Sean Hannity,.. James Dobson and Sara Palin from 2005 until earlier this year. "While others have noted this in various forums, no one seems to have made the connection that this IP address is used as a gateway by the law firm Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP ..."

An Open Question to Osama Bin Laden — or Any Other Islamist

by Raymond Ibrahim "This threefold choice, then — conversion, subjugation, or the sword — is the ultimate source of problems. All Islamist talk of jihad being a product of U.S. foreign policy is, therefore, false. When bin Laden asserted in this last message that it is the “neocons” who “impose the wars upon you — not the mujahideen [i.e., jihadis],” he lied. Islamic law, as he himself delineated, imposed war between Muslims and non-Muslims well over a millennium before the “neocons” — let alone the state of Israel — came into being."

Group Bidding to Buy St. Louis Rams Drops 'Distraction' Limbaugh

WaPo "ESPN reported later that a spokesperson for Limbaugh indicated that Limbaugh had no immediate comment about the announcement by Checketts. The developments came one day after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed wariness about Limbaugh's bid. " This article will be obsolete in a matter of minutes when Rush comes on the air.

The Media’s War Against Liz Cheney

By Ron Radosh "Actually, as anyone who has met Ms. Cheney knows, she is a knowledgeable and serious advocate of a tough foreign policy that she believes needs to be articulated and fought for. One can disagree with her, but to date, the critics have not done this. You can’t win with liberal supporters of a weak dovish foreign policy, especially if you are a woman."

Why Bin Laden Really Turned to Terrorism

By Phyllis Chesler, feminist writer: "But what was it that sent Osama totally over the edge? What compelled him to plan the mass murders of civilians on every continent? Omar tells us. When Osama saw American female troops on Middle Eastern Arab soil, he cried out. “ Women! Defending Saudi men!” That was the ultimate shame, the only shame that mattered, greater than the shame of having no mother, no father, the shame of being known as the “son of the slave.” "

Italian bribes to Taliban gets 10 French soldiers killed

By Rick Moran "Because the Italians had suffered only one combat death the previous year, the French assumed the area was relatively peaceful and quiet. They sent a patrol of 60 men into the hills, lightly armed and without adequate air cover or communications. About 150 Taliban fighters ambushed them, and it was only sheer luck that a couple of American special forces happened by and were able to call in air support. Otherwise, all 60 would have been lost and their bodies mutilated - just as their unfortunate comrades were."

Zogby poll of Mexicans raises concerns over Mexican immigration

American Thinker "A clear majority of people in Mexico, 56 percent, thought giving legal status to illegal immigrants in the United States would make it more likely that people they know would go to the United States illegally."...."An overwhelming majority (69 percent) of people in Mexico thought that the primary loyalty of Mexican-Americans (Mexico- and U.S.-born) should be to Mexico. Just 20 percent said it should be to the United States. The rest were unsure."...."Also, 69 percent of people in Mexico felt that the Mexican government should represent the interests of Mexican-Americans (Mexico- and U.S.-born) in the United States."

Backlash to Limbaugh smear campaign?

By Thomas Lifson "There is at least a chance that a backlash to this libel will build. Rush has the resources to pursue those who have libeled and slandered him in court. Yes, a public figure has little protection, and must prove actual malice. However, CNN and other media sources compete with Rush, so he may be able to prove malice."

California appears poised to be first to ban power-guzzling big-screen TVs

LA Times "California's estimated 35 million TVs and related electronic devices account for about 10% of all household electricity consumption, the Energy Commission staff reported. But manufacturers quickly are coming up with new technologies that are making even 50-inch-screen models much more economical to operate."
