The Real Problem with the Bruce Springsteen Super Bowl Ad

National Review

"There was a fair amount of buzz last night and this morning about Bruce Springsteen’s Jeep commercial during the Super Bowl, which traveled to a deep-red small town in Kansas to call for unity:" . . .

. . . "The real problem is this: Bruce is, by now, well-known as a Democratic partisan. He hit the campaign trail for John Kerry, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden. He performed for Biden’s inauguration. For a celebrity so identified with one party to go to the other side’s turf after his side has won the election and call for unity is not really an effective tactic. People see it for what it is: We won, now get together behind us. I don’t doubt that Bruce is disturbed by where the descent into mad tribalism has taken us in the past twelve months — who isn’t? — but you can spend your credibility on partisanship, or you can spend it on unity. Either is an honorable choice. But nobody can do both."

Where were the calls for unity back during the Trump Administration?

Biden Stabs Us All in the Back, Removes Terrorist Designation from Group Whose Motto Means 'Death to America'

The Houthi movement, which is officially called Ansarallah (or Ansar Allah, for “supporters of God”), brags a slogan which reads: “God is great, death to the U.S., death to Israel, curse the Jews, and victory for Islam.”

Western Journal  "The Biden administration on Friday announced that it would no longer designate Yemen’s Iran-supported Houthi movement as a terror group, despite the fact the group’s slogan calls for the death of Americans and Jews.

"The terrorist designation was made just last month by former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to NBC News. It was slated to take effect by the State Department on Jan. 19, the day before President Joe Biden was inaugurated.

"The Houthi movement, which is officially called Ansarallah (or Ansar Allah, for “supporters of God”), brags a slogan which reads: “God is great, death to the U.S., death to Israel, curse the Jews, and victory for Islam.”

"Designating the Houthis as terrorists would certainly seem appropriate. That slogan doesn’t exactly elicit a great deal of warmth from the group which brags tens of thousands of anti-American and anti-Semitic members.

"“These designations will provide additional tools to confront terrorist activity and terrorism by Ansarallah,” Pompeo stated last month when officially designating the group as one motivated by violent ideology, NBC reported.

"Apparently, the Trump administration didn’t come to the conclusion lightly. The Houthis are at war with the Yemeni government, and the situation has created a large-scale humanitarian crisis. Still, the move from the outgoing administration was the right call." . . .

A massacre of the innocent in Yemen

Experts react: The United States designates Houthi rebels as a Foreign Terrorist Organization

. . . "Ansar Allah must be held accountable by the international community: “Career State Department experts and a full-time UN negotiator have worked tirelessly throughout the Trump years to bring the Houthis to the political table with realistic expectations. This has not been successful. While the Houthis believe the incoming US administration supports Houthi backers and opposes their adversaries, their continued intransigence is to be expected.”

Honor the heroics of AOC

Cartoons by Ian Macfarlane

AOC Is Not the Victim. She's the Perp.   ". . .I’m more concerned with the morons holding power who are currently working to undermine the country and individual liberty. All those people have a (D) after their name."

"One of the most vocal, if least effective and dumbest, leading that charge is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez." . . .

"Her latest scam is another twist on her default position: claiming victim status. Any criticism she faces is met with a “You’re only saying that because I’m a woman” or a “You’re attacking me because I’m Hispanic.” When really desperate, she combines the two.

"I don’t know if she really is or not, it’s irrelevant to the point of how she operates." . . .

Tom Brady Called 'Racist' on Social Media for Winning Super Bowl During Black History Month

 PJ Media

. . . "Brady is no stranger to criticism, of course. Last week, Nancy Armour attacked him in USA Today for not only being white, but for his apparent support for Donald Trump. Now, Twitter users are calling his victory over Patrick Mahomes “racist” … because it happened during Black History Month.

. . .  President Joe Biden made clear in an interview leading up to the Super Bowl that he favored Mahomes over Brady, though he did not outright predict a winner in the game. Brady has been particularly close with now-former President Donald Trump over the years, and a red “Make America Great Again” hat was spotted in his locker when he played for the New England Patriots during the 2016 presidential campaign — though Brady never formally backed Trump’s campaign. . . .

Incredibly, none of these people complained when Imbecile Joe and his family didn't wear a mask in public...

Or when Nazi Pelosi didn't wear a mask to the hair solan...

Or when "doctor" Fauxi didn't feel the need to wear a mask to the ball game either...

Tom Brady winning during black history month is so racist

If Tom Brady beats Patrick Mahomes during Black History Month then we have to double whatever we're demanding from reparations

Nah, every time Brady wins a Super Bowl it's six more years without reparations. . . .

"Gun control advocate Lisa Hendricks, a verified Twitter user whose account identifies her as an “organizer” for leftist groups Everytown and Moms Demand Action, also mask-shamed Brady.

“ 'Tom Brady could have used his platform to wear a mask and be a role model for responsible behavior. But nooooooo, he had to be a maskhole. #SuperBowl,” Hendricks said in a tweet that is now hidden because she has since made her profile private."

UPDATED: The 3 Worst Things About That Terrible Jeep Super Bowl Ad

Mollie Hemingway

How could a major corporation not see how propagandistic it comes off to suggest that when Republicans win a national election, that's divisive, but when Democrats win one, that's unifying?

"In a generally weak year for Super Bowl commercials, Jeep’s stood out for being particularly obnoxious and tone-deaf. Called “The Middle,” left-wing political activist and world-famous singer Bruce Springsteen narrated and starred in the ad about how the country has been divided, but now it has a bright future as the “ReUnited States of America.”

"While advertisements that appeal to virtues in order to increase sales and profits can work — see Toyota’s beautiful ad about the joy in adopting a child with special needs — this one fell flat and faced mockery and opposition from many viewers. Here are the three main reasons the ad didn’t work.

The Messenger Is Known For Hating Republicans

"Many Americans love Springsteen’s music. His successful career has spanned four decades. Many liberals love that he shares their political views and works so hard as a political activist. Springsteen, like so many other wealthy celebrities, regularly speaks ill of Republican voters and politicians.

"Just before the 2020 election, Springsteen called for “an exorcism in our nation’s capital” as dark music played on his radio show. Of Trump’s presidency, he said, “I thought it was a f—ing nightmare, but it was true.” The episode, titled “Farewell To The Thief,” also insulted President Trump’s family.

"The 71-year-old Springsteen told Australians that he would leave the United States and move there if Trump was re-elected.

"Springsteen’s posture against Republicans is well known and goes back decades. He was angry at President Ronald Reagan’s positive mention of Springsteen’s “Born In The U.S.A.” He endorsed and campaigned for John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden." . . .

My TW post from 2013: Springsteen writes for the wrong generation  . . . There was a video some time back of Springsteen doing solo acoustic on a British street and asking people to make requests. If only someone could have said to him, "Man I love anything you do as long as you aren't trashing our country!"

"The man just sees a different America and I don't know where he gets his impressions. Perhaps it is when he leaves his mega-million dollar estate through its locked gates to rub elbows with Pete Seeger, Bill Ayres, Reverends Wright and Sharpton, along with other liberal and entertainment elites.

"Whomever has influenced "The Boss", the Great Depression is the America Springsteen visualizes and writes about, making him the darling of the guilt-ridden limousine liberals:" . . .

UPDATEDemocrat Shill Bruce Springsteen in Super Bowl Ad by Jeep Calls for ‘Meeting in the Middle’ of ‘ReUnited States of America’; Four Years Ago Boss
Proclaimed ‘New American Resistance’ to Trump  . . . "Springsteen, who has campaigned for every Democratic Party presidential nominee since 2004 (Kerry, Obama, Obama, Clinton and Biden) did not make any such appeal to ‘meet in the middle’ during the four years of the Trump presidency, instead becoming a leader of the Resistance. But now, with Biden in office, Springsteen and Jeep are calling on Trump supporters to submit to their “ReUnited States of America” as if they are victors of a civil war. A week before the 2020 election Springsteen called for an exorcism by voters (via the NY Daily News):

“It is time for an exorcism in our nation’s capital,” Springsteen told his SiriusXM audience. “Welcome to our Halloween/Election Day monster mash. This is Vol. 14 of ‘From My Home to Yours’ titled ‘Farewell to the Thief.’ In just a few days, we’ll be throwing the bums out. I thought it was a f—— nightmare but it was so true.”

UPDATED: House Republicans Troll Rep. Ilhan Omar With New Bill...Named For Her.

darylcagle.com
RedState  "Trolling isn’t just for social media, folks. In fact, two Republican members of Congress just introduced a bill that will put a smile on your face while annoying the far left.

"The Daily Caller reported, “Two House Republicans introduced a bill Friday to prevent members of Congress from using campaign funds to pay their spouses, a measure they named after Rep. Ilhan Omar.”

"Wisconsin Reps. Tom Tiffany and Mike Gallagher proposed the Oversight for Members And Relatives Act, otherwise known as the OMAR act. The proposal is intended to address reports that Omar’s campaign paid $2.8 million to a consulting firm that her husband, political consultant Tim Mynett, owned. (See: Ilhan Omar Has Now Paid Her Husband’s ‘Firm’ Over $1 Million In Corrupt Scheme)

“ 'For too long, lawmakers of both political parties have engaged in the ethically dubious practice of pocketing campaign funds by ‘hiring’ their spouses and laundering the money as campaign related expenses,” said Tiffany in a press release.

“ 'Loopholes that allow members of Congress to funnel campaign funds to their spouses are despicable and erode trust in our government,” Rep. Gallagher noted. “There’s simply no logical reason for allowing this practice to continue, and I’m proud to join Rep. Tiffany in this common-sense effort to ensure members can’t profit off running for Congress.” . . .

UPDATE: Republicans’ ‘OMAR Act’ Seeks To Stop Lawmakers From Enriching Spouses

"The “background” portion of Tiffany and Gallagher’s press release reads:

Fox News reported how an incumbent House member from Minnesota took advantage of this loophole “paid nearly $2.8 million to her husband’s political consulting firm so far in the 2019-2020 election cycle, including nearly 70% of her third-quarter disbursements.” To put this huge sum in perspective, it appears to be more than all members of Congress paid their immediate relatives during the entire 2012 election cycle, combined.

In 2007, Rep. Adam Schiff called for House approval of a ban on campaign payments to spouses “an important step forward in restoring the public’s confidence that elected officials are working in the public’s interest and not their own.” Speaker Pelosi, too, praised the House action, saying it would “increase transparency in election campaigns and [prevent] the misuse of funds.” Majority Leader Hoyer also applauded the measure, adding that it would “restore high ethical standards to Washington and clean up the culture of corruption.”

How's that for "unity"?

Joe Biden is Not My (Catholic) President

Sorry to be a downer, but Biden is indeed our president, for better or worse. TD

American Thinker  "It is hard to imagine a worse start to a presidency than Joe Biden signing 42 executive orders in a fenced-in Washington D.C. The inauguration showed a strong military presence, but few actual citizens.  This presidency bears no resemblance to democracy. None at all. And now, with the stroke of a pen, Biden has alienated American Catholics and other Christians who hold strong values about life. When asked about the abortion policies of the new administration, White House press secretary Jen Psaki responded that Biden is a devout Catholic who had gone to Mass on inauguration day. Yet, one week later, Biden proved that he is not devout or even Catholic on the issue of abortion. It is baffling why he considered it an urgent matter to end the Mexico City Policy that restricts taxpayer funding of abortion providers overseas. Originally promoted by Ronald Reagan, the Mexico City Policy enjoys broad, bipartisan support of Americans. Over three-quarters of the population, including people who are pro-choice, support this policy.

"There is no pressing need, then, to revoke this popular, longstanding policy, yet this is exactly what Biden did on January 28, the day before the annual March for Life. Why is this cruel extension his first priority when it shatters the unity he spoke about? In Catholicism, abortion is a grave evil because it takes a life." . . .

CNN Tries to Shame Daily Caller for Asking About Biden's Catholicism, But It Backfires

. . . "The presumptive Democratic nominee does not just support abortion — he supports a wide array of extremely radical policies promoting the killing of unborn babies in the womb. According to his campaign website, Biden supports repealing the Hyde Amendment (which protects pro-life taxpayers from funding a practice they consider to be murder), rescinding the Mexico City Policy (which prevents abortion funding overseas), striking down state limits on abortion, and restoring federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

"Biden has also bragged about his character assassination of Robert Bork, the Supreme Court nominee whose last name became a verb thanks to the vitriol he endured. The former vice president insisted that he protected Roe v. Wade (1973) by defeating Bork." . . .

9+ Democrats Who Should Be Ousted From Their Committees by the Marjorie Taylor Greene Standard

PJ Media  "On Thursday, House Democrats, with the help of a few Republicans, took the unprecedented step of voting to strip Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) of her committee assignments, for her past embrace of QAnon conspiracy theories.

"Their action came with a warning from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who said of Democrats, “I would remind them what Leader McConnell said when Democrats voted to nuke the judicial filibuster: ‘You’ll regret this. And you may regret this a lot sooner than you think.'”

“If people are held to what they have said prior to even being in this House, if the majority party gets to decide who sits on what other committees, I hope you keep that standard, because we have a long list you can work with in your own,” McCarthy added.

"Make no mistake about it, 2022 is fast approaching, and I’d put money on the GOP retaking the majority. Remember, the GOP managed to gain seats in 2020, despite predictions of losing more seats. Also, historically speaking, midterm elections are usually pretty bad for the party in power. So, in the event that the Republican Party gains control, they will now have a precedent giving them the green light to strip Democrats of committee assignments for embracing conspiracy theories and other unseemly behavior. Here’s a list of Democrats they should start with." . . .Keep reading... The most obvious to me are Waters, Schiff, and Swalwell.
