Joe Biden’s Misery Index Rises;

Highlights in this week of continuing political disappointment.

Conrad Black  "This column is becoming a weekly checklist on the descent of American public policy and attitudes further into the depths of frivolity, chaos, and national self-dislike. I was honored to make a small contribution last week to the edition of this website celebrating its fifth anniversary. In the editors’ statement on that anniversary, they renewed their hostility to the ineptitude and moral decrepitude of the bipartisan ruling class, their “opposition to the unaccountable administrative state,” their dislike of an American oligarchy, particularly the “Big Tech monopoly to suppress disagreement,” and their contempt for “pernicious utopian ideologies.” It is a privilege to be associated with such opinions.

"In this past week, we’ve seen the absurd spectacle of a group of Texas state legislators commandeering a private plane as they fled from Texas to escape the ability of the governor of Texas to require them to return to Austin and discharge the duty they were elected to carry out, in this case, vote on a voting reform bill.

"The selfies they took on the planes as they swilled beer—maskless despite masking regulations the Democrats are particularly fervent about upholding, given that they are the party of COVID terror—and the subsequent positive COVID tests of several of the fleeing legislators are almost too ludicrous to believe." . . .

Mr. Biden, with eyes narrowed to angry slits, declared the efforts to assure just and fair elections equal the dead of over half a million men in the War Between The States:

The man who accosted Tucker Carlson has an interesting background

Andrea Widberg  "It’s already old news that an obnoxious leftist verbally assaulted Tucker Carlson, who was in a fly fishing shop in Montana. Leftists celebrated one of their own throwing mindless insults in Tucker’s direction. Conservatives appreciated how Tucker kept his calm and his sense of humor. Now, though, some interesting information is emerging about the leftist yahoo, a guy named Dan Bailey, thanks to his having outed himself on his Instagram account. It turns out that Dan Bailey worked for an organization that was closely associated with the CIA.

"We’ll begin with Bailey doxing himself by proudly posting the video on his own Instagram account, including a rehash of the insults he spouted while following Tucker around the store:" . . .

It’s probably just a coincidence that Dan Bailey, of all people, hunted down Tucker Carlson, a man hostile to the Deep State, and berated him in a threatening manner, saying “I don’t care” when Tucker asked him to show respect for the fact that Tucker’s young daughter was watching Bailey’s bullying unfold. But have you noted that, lately, none of the “coincidences” in 2021 America have proven to be that coincidental?

Tucker Carlson Shuts Down Leftist Confronting Him in Montana Store: ‘Settle Down, Son’

"Tucker Carlson was recently approached in a Montana fishing tackle store by a man who berated him as the “worst” human being. Tucker handled it well, but the left is positively giddy about this.

"I can’t help but recall Maxine Waters telling leftists to confront their political opponents in public." . . .

. . . "The left despises Tucker because they fear him, and if you watch his show, you know why. He has a massive reach and is asking questions that Democrats do not want mentioned out loud.

"You’ll notice that the HuffPo piece smears him as “noted vaccine skeptic.” Funny, I don’t recall the left using such words about Kamala Harris and Joe Biden." . . .

NSA Confirms Unmasking Tucker Carlson, Gives Inconsistent Denial on Spying Allegations  . . . "A month ago, Fox News host Tucker Carlson reported that a whistleblower who was “in a position to know” had reached out to him to alert him that the National Security Agency (NSA) was “monitoring our electronic communications and is planning to leak them in an attempt to take the show off the air.” . . .

Certain aspects of Carlson’s story were later confirmed by other news outlets like Axios, which backed up his claim that the NSA had unmasked him:

Will the man ever return?

DOJ agrees that Durham's report should be released to the public when complete  "The Department of Justice under President Biden agrees with former Attorney General William Barr's October 2020 special counsel order that John Durham's report on the Trump-Russia investigators should be made public upon completion."...

An Insult': GOP Senator Apoplectic Over Tree-Spiking Biden Nomination

A Tree Spiking Incident From The 1980s Is Looming Over Biden’s BLM Nominee

. . . "But the decades-old incident is pretty muddy. The two men who were convicted of tree spiking told E&E News that Stone-Manning wasn't involved, but offered differing accounts for when she learned about it. Republicans note that a federal employee who investigated the case alleged that she was actually a target of the investigation. They have asked Biden to withdraw Stone-Manning’s nomination. And they point out that former Obama BLM Director Bob Abbey agrees with them. Stone-Manning supporters note Obama's other BLM Director, Neil Kornze, and former Clinton BLM head Jim Baca both continue to support her nod." . . .

"So a rational Republican Senator has to explain what tree spikes do, based on EXPERIENCE, not philosophy... Dems pay attention.

Tree-spiking an eco-terrorist tactic  1990:    . . . "It was May 1987, and Alexander was 23. His job was to split logs. He was nearly three feet away when the log hit his saw and the saw exploded. One half of the blade stuck in the log. The other half hit Alexander in the head, tearing through his safety helmet and face shield. His face was slashed from eye to chin. His teeth were smashed and his jaw was cut in half." . . .

'Most Popular Ever' Joe Biden Gets Heckled and Can't Draw an Audience

"We love you, Joe!" Very much unaware of who the hecklers were and what they were saying.

RedState

. . . "Despite the fact that Biden has bent over backwards to the left and pretty much given them everything they’ve wanted, it’s apparently still not enough. Biden was heckled by folks on the left pushing to “Stop Line 3,” referring the 1,097-mile crude oil pipeline extending from Edmonton, Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin, that Enbridge is going to replace with newer pipe. The line is already there, so basically what these folks seem to be saying is they don’t want to have it replaced/updated, which seems a pretty poor argument. But Biden has stopped the Keystone XL Pipeline, killing thousands of jobs and harming our energy position, so who knows how radical he still might go, if pressed?" . . .

Poll: Americans Think Blacks Are More Racist Than Whites…

Such a loss to us all; I meet constantly, every day, black people who are friendly, courteous and uplifting, at church and elsewhere. Yet the news shows us only scowling, angry faces on the streets and in Congress of those who stoke anger and violence among this nation. TD

 Weasel Zippers

"And yet libs claim blacks can’t be racist." The racism I fear is that of young black people who notice my white face as I approach them. If a victim of a previous mugging, or the "knock-out game" such as many Asians have been crosses the street to avoid being too close to a group of African-Americans, are they racist? Or if I am a store owner? TD

"Via Rasmussen:

Americans believe Blacks are more racist than whites, and think Hispanics and Asians are less racist.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 70% of American Adults think the term “racism” refers to any discrimination by people of one race against another. Just 16% say it refers only to discrimination by white people against minorities. Another 14% are not sure...

Texas Weighs Divestment From Ben & Jerry’s Parent Company Over Israel Boycott

Washington Free Beacon  "Texas may divest from Ben & Jerry's parent company after the ice cream manufacturer announced it will end operations in Israeli-controlled territories, the state's head financial officer said Thursday.

" 'I've directed my staff to determine whether any specific action taken by Ben & Jerry's or Unilever would trigger a listing under Chapter 808 of the Texas Government Code," which prohibits the state's pension fund from investing in companies that refuse to operate in an "Israeli-controlled territory," State Comptroller Glenn Hegar told CNBC.

"The move follows Ben & Jerry's announcement Monday that the company will no longer sell its products in "Occupied Palestinian Territory," referring to the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Texas statute applies to parent companies and could force the state to divest its multibillion-dollar retirement fund from Unilever, which purchased the ice cream company in 2000.

"Ben & Jerry's boycott could also force a dozen other states with similar laws, including New Jersey, Illinois, and Florida, to divest from the British conglomerate. Florida chief financial officer Jimmy Patronis, who manages his state's pension fund, said his office is evaluating the issue, according to CNBC. More than 30 states have anti-boycott laws and executive orders, including measures that could prohibit state governments from working with Unilever and Ben & Jerry's." . . .

Meet Ben & Jerry’s Board Chair: Anti-Israel Activist Has Published Defenses of  Hezbollah, Hamas  . . . "Ben & Jerry's is under increased scrutiny for its decision to join the anti-Israel boycott movement, which follows criticism over the ice cream maker's partnership with anti-Semitic figures during the Women's March in 2018. At the time, the company defended its work with Linda Sarsour, one of the march leaders who was ousted for anti-Semitism. Multiple state and local governments, including Texas and Florida, are considering sanctioning Ben & Jerry's and its parent company, Unilever, over the boycott decision.

"Mittal published an article written by Green Party Senate candidate Todd Chretien during the Israel-Lebanon war in 2006 arguing that progressives should support Hezbollah.

Kamala Harris Has No Future

The most powerful woman in D.C. is actually the weakest.

Daniel Greenfield

. . . "The Biden administration is officially the Biden-Harris administration, Kamala has received a raft of important assignments covering everything from illegal migration to election rigging, and the man at the top was suggesting that he might just stay one term before stepping down for her.

"Before the election, Biden’s people were quoting him as saying, “I want to find a running mate I can turn things over to after four years.” Kamala isn’t that mate because Biden more recently announced, “My plan is to run for reelection.” So much for the Biden-Harris administration.

"Poll numbers show that Kamala remains unpopular and administration officials keep leaking damaging materials about her to a media that appears curiously eager to run with them."

"The campaign is the work of Biden’s allies who have calculated that the more they weaken Kamala, the less likely their boss will face pressure to step down on her behalf. Kamala Harris went from embodying the woke cultural moment as the first black woman in the White House to recapitulating her humiliating primary race in which she raised $36 million and dropped out without even trying to compete in a single primary election while blaming racism." . . .

Thomas Barrack, a Trump ally, released on $250,000,000 bail

Fear this Democrat Party!

Andrea Widberg

"There are so many things wrong with the story of Thomas Barrack that it's hard to know where to begin.  Briefly, Biden's DOJ charged Barrack, the man who chaired Trump's inaugural fund, with illegal lobbying for the UAE.  Then, for the 74-year-old Barrack to get out of jail, a federal magistrate imposed a $250,000,000 bail on him, along with other serious restrictions on travel.  This is a travesty of justice and a clear threat to Trump allies, past, present, and future.

"As always, the Daily Mail has a good summary:

Donald Trump's billionaire ally Thomas Barrack is being released on $250 million bond after being charged with illegally lobbying the Trump administration on behalf of the United Arab Emirates. . . .

. . . "Four: What's happening to Barrack has nothing to do with law or justice.  This represents the left's continued persecution of anybody who worked with Donald Trump.  The clear intent is to make sure that everyone gets the message that, if Trump runs again, whether he wins or loses, those who work with him will be completely destroyed — not just shunned and barred from the "right" parties, but ground into dust.

"The peaceful, constitutional transition of power in America cannot include hunting down every ally of the previous administration and destroying those people.  But if it does — if that's what the Democrats have set as the new standard — game theory says we win by doing this twice as hard (and on much better evidence) when Republicans gain power from the corrupt, feckless Democrats.". . .

Franklin Graham: Marsha Blackburn Is ‘Absolutely Right,’ War Is Between ‘Judeo-Christian Values and Marxism’

Breitbart  . . . “The way I look at this culture war is you’ve got the left and those that are pushing towards Marxism,” Blackburn told Breitbart News Washington Political Editor Matthew Boyle, framing the dynamics of the culture war. “They are lined up on one side. You have

those that are more constitutionalists and traditionalists who want to preserve our American values of faith, family, freedom—preserve free markets—they are on the other side.”

Blackburn personally attributed her political grounding as being rooted in faith and family.

“ 'Faith is very important to me, that Judeo-Christian ethic is very important. If we stepped into the den to where my piano is you would see the Baptist hymnal that is there,” she said during the interview at her home just outside of Nashville. “I played for my church growing up. I still have that. And it reads into your life—it kind of becomes your centering, those values that you realize that you are not one unto yourself but you are part of a community.”

“ 'You are part of a country. Then you have your natural rights that come to you from God and our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, it is there to protect those rights that are yours,” she added." . . .

‘Disgraceful & Ungrateful’: U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Blasted for Woke Protests

The Swedes, who also kneeled, were the victors of this shutout.

. . . “Disgraceful & ungrateful,” Ingraham wrote. “Always all about them—their woke brands are joke brands.”

“I’m so happy they lost,” the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh wrote in a tweet. “I’m actively rooting against US women’s soccer. I want them to be humiliated and embarrassed, just as they humiliate and embarrass our country.”

“Every time the US Women’s National Soccer team loses a game, I will proudly play the US National Anthem and stand with my hand over my heart singing every word,” said Act for America founder Brigitte Gabriel.
