Fight Racism: Lock Up Criminals, Even Black Ones

 Ann Coulter

. . .This is the cautionary note for black people. The Democrats' Free All Criminals policies have hurt black people in myriad ways -- mostly by getting thousands more of them robbed, assaulted and killed each year -- but also in other, more subtle ways, like this. . .

"This is a cautionary tale for all Americans, both white and black.
" Last Sunday, a college couple, 22-year-old Adam Simjee and his 20-year-old girlfriend, Mikayla Paulus, were driving through Talladega National Forest when they were flagged down by a black woman having car trouble. If I tell you the good Samaritans may have been National Review readers, you can probably guess that one of them ended up dead.
"As they were trying to fix the car, the woman, Yasmine Hider, pointed a gun at them and demanded they walk into the woods and hand over their phones and wallets. At some point, Simjee pulled out his own gun and started firing at Hider, wounding her. She shot back, killing him.
"The reason I suspect the couple were National Review readers is that the "good Samaritan" ruse was one of the bullet points in John Derbyshire's famous "The Talk: Nonblack Version," which got him fired from National Review in 2012 -- standing athwart history and mewling, "Please like me, liberals."
"Derbyshire hadn't even published the piece in NR. He was responding to a spate of lachrymose accounts of black parents describing "The Talk" they have to give their sons, instructing them to be super polite to police officers -- smile and say, "Yes, sir" -- lest the officer shoot them to death for no reason whatsoever. (Ask any police officer, and they will tell you black arrestees, to a man, are the politest people you will ever meet.)
"In the piece, Derbyshire issued exhortations about treating black people with "the same courtesies you would extend to a nonblack citizen," but then listed "some unusual circumstances," requiring extra vigilance due to "considerations of personal safety."
"The "personal safety" rules concerned only complete strangers. His point was that when you have no other information to go on, you have to rely on statistics.". . .

. . .Back in the halcyon days of Mayors Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg, we had one other fact to guide us: Criminals were in prison. Unfortunately for black people, a small percentage of their community commit a boatload of crime. But as long as criminals went to prison, New Yorkers could pass black men with little concern because if they were criminals, they'd most likely be locked up, not standing on a subway platform next to you...

Trump (and AOC) Endorsement Record

Trump Endorsement Record: Wins and Losses of 2022 Candidates (marketrealist.com)

AOC Endorses Candidate Who Promptly Gets Crushed In Primary… | Weasel Zippers

"Via NYP:  Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, the head of the House Democrats’ campaign fundraising arm, had no trouble holding off progressive rival Alessandra Biaggi following a hard-fought primary for the newly drawn 17th Congressional District.

"With 55.9% of the expected vote in as of 10 p.m. Tuesday, Maloney had 67.3% of the vote compared to 32.7% for Biaggi.

"The contest pitted Maloney, 56, the Democratic Party establishment candidate with ties to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, against the 36-year-old Biaggi, one of the voices of the progressive left with backing from democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Working Families Party.

"Biaggi entered the race with designs on doing to Maloney what she did to former state Sen. Jeff Klein to win a seat in Albany four years ago."  Keep reading…

Biden Claims Economic Success as U.S Enters Recession: 'We Are on the Right Path'

Biden Claims Economic Success as U.S Enters Recession: 'We Are on the Right Path' | Neon Nettle  "After destroying America's economy with his failed policies, Democrat Joe Biden is claiming economic success as the United States enters a recession, arguing that "we are on the right path."

Biden's comments come despite White House data published on Thursday showing the second straight quarter of contracted economic growth in the United States.

Thursday's data reveals that the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis’s (BEA) first estimate of the nation’s gross domestic product was worse than the predicted expansion of 0.5%, FXStreet noted.

The economy shrank by a 0.9 annualized rate.

Economists widely define a recession as two consecutive quarters of negative growth.

Despite that, Biden claimed in a statement that the contraction was unsurprising and the economy is heading in the right direction.

Mob Harasses 80-Year-Old Who Demanded Man Leave Women’s Bathroom

Meet the 80-Year-Old Woman Who Refused to Shower With a Man | FrontpageMag  " 'Do you have a penis?" Julie Jaman innocently asked through a shower curtain to the person next to her at her local YMCA-run swimming pool locker room in Port Townsend, Washington. The 80-year-old had been swimming at the Mountain View community pool for the past 35 years and had never had to deal with a situation like this.

" 'I was showering [after a swim] and I heard a man's voice … it was quite deep," Jaman told Reduxx, a feminist news and opinion site. "So I looked through the shower curtain. There was a man in a woman's bathing suit, and he was near four or five little girls who were taking off their bathing suits. He was standing there watching them."

"The deep-voiced person in question ignored Jaman's genital inquiry whereupon she demanded the person leave the women's locker room.

"When Jaman complained to the pool's manager, it was the octogenarian grandmother who felt the wrath of woke, transgender authoritarianism.

" 'She said, 'You are being discriminatory, you are banned from the pool, and I am calling the police.' I was totally stunned," Reduxx reported.

"Granny's a bigot because she doesn't think little girls should have to get undressed in front of a dude.

"A local blog, The Port Townsend Free Press, discovered that the biological male in question goes by the name Clementine Adams, a first-year college student and employee of the YMCA". . .

. . ."If our society is to avoid collapse, we must jettison belief in a "trans reality" and instead embrace cis reality.  We must abandon pursuit of "trans truth" — and seek the truth.  Period.

"And some truths are remarkably easy to see.  Like the difference between men and women, for example."

Swalwell threatens Trump supporters

Trump Fans Put This Hypocritical Congressman in His Place After He Comes For Them – Patriot Alerts

While critics have mocked Swalwell for the apparent hypocrisy after he spent the past several years pushing the connections between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign, Cruz mocked the Democrat by indirectly referring to the California congressman’s illicit relationship with the Chinese spy. Cruz tweeted: “More than once, I’ve said, ‘screw the Chinese communists.’ Little did I know how closely Swalwell was listening.”

Trump Fans Put This Hypocritical Congressman in His Place After He Comes For Them (trendingpolitics.com)   "Hypocritical California Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell took to his social media to pass threats to Trump Lovers and was immediately put in his place by fans who are not intimidated by him.

"This happened on Friday following the FBI’s raid of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home to allegedly recover classified documents he was not supposed to have. The democrat congressman threatened Americans who still had Trump’s back, warning that they had one last opportunity to get “off the Trump train” before it gets “ugly.” He added that if they failed to adhere to his warnings, they’d find themselves in the “wreckage,” as he put it. In addition, he accused the former president of stealing classified U.S. government material and endangering law enforcement.

"He said, “If you’ve been aboard the Trump Train the last 7 years, you’ve been given an unexpected stop. Time to get off. Wherever you think this is going, it’s not. Trump stole Top Secret documents. He’s put a target on the backs of cops. This is getting ugly. Don’t be in the wreckage.”

"Following the presidential act, the sitting president has the power to declassify any document he wishes to. Trump has also insisted that he had previously declassified all the documents the FBI claimed to retrieve from his residence.

"However, Biden’s FBI said, “the bureau uncovered classified records from former President Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago… including some marked as top secret,” making it seem like Trump had broken the law. Following this development, the FBI began investigating whether Trump violated the Espionage Act." . . .

Liz Cheney’s Defeat Taught Her Nothing

GOP Rep. Andy Barr On Liz Cheney’s Blowout Primary Loss: ‘Seats Do Not Belong To Politicians In Washington’ | The Daily Wire

“They’re talking about not being able to afford putting food on the table, putting gas in their trucks, and not being able to see their grandson again because he died of a fentanyl overdose because we don’t have control over our southern border. That’s what the American people care about. And politicians who obsess about the past are not in touch with the American people.”

"In 1980, when the voters of Arkansas denied Bill Clinton a second term as the state’s governor, he responded by apologizing to the voters for the poor decisions he had made and asking them how he could have done a better job. This humble approach allowed him to regain the trust of the voters, and he was reelected in 1982. The rest, to coin a phrase, is history. There’s a lesson for Rep. Liz Cheney in this story, but she refuses to learn it. Indeed, on Sunday, she literally dismissed the Wyoming voters who rejected her as “sick.' ”. . .

Then there was Liz Cheney, the (barely still) Republican anti-Trumper, January 6 hearing co-host, and failed congressional candidate.  She lost renomination by a landslide in a Wyoming primary vote.  Having built her miscarried political career around hating Trump, she's now talking about being the reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln, even while preparing to run for president.  In which party she'd run isn't clear, but regardless, running for president after losing your seat in Congress is admittedly not the usual path on which an ambitious politician can move forward.  Perhaps instead of comparing herself to Lincoln, she should have said she's the (allegedly) Republican clone of failed Texas candidate for damn near everything, Beto O'Rourke.

“They can’t come for her the same way to try to go after others, because the day that someone calls Liz Cheney a RINO, you just have to laugh in their face because that’s the weakest argument possible. So, Liz Cheney unleashed, I’m here for it. And the Republicans, she’s gonna be a thorn in their side for the immediate future, in these midterms, and going into the presidential election. And I don’t think they’re ready for her.”

Not now, not ever -

American Thinker   "Florida congressman Matt Gaetz made some interesting comments last August 17 on the Tucker Carlson Tonight show.

"He said: "You can't eat your way skinny, you can't drink yourself sober, and you can't spend your way out of inflation, which is why every Democrat senator from Joe Manchin to Bernie Sanders is saying the 'Inflation Reduction Act' won't reduce inflation."

. . .

"Finally, we must consider the government-condoned racial assault against a significant portion of American society.  No, not blacks, Asians, Latinos, or Native Americans.  This is against Caucasians — whites, if you prefer.  An example of this behavior: The Minneapolis School System has reached an agreement with the teachers' union that mandates that all Caucasian teachers, regardless of seniority, must be laid off first, before any "person of color."  That they would even consider doing this tells you how far down we have fallen as a nation.  Do these idiots think whites will docilely sit back and have their lives destroyed?  It is almost as if the left is pushing for a race war between Caucasians and blacks.  Does anyone doubt what the outcome of such an action would be?

"In Europe, prior to and during the Second World War, the Jewish population was devastated during the Holocaust because Jews couldn't conceive that a civilized society, which had previously existed in Germany, could do such a thing.  Six million deaths later, many of the survivors emigrated to Palestine and fought a bloody war to establish the modern state of Israel.  Their motto was, and is, "Never Again." . . .

in one form or another....

Afghan Women Are Back to Square One Under Taliban Rule

Does Joe Biden even remember what he has wrought?

The American Spectator | USA News and Politics
"One year after the Taliban took over Afghanistan, women and girls have been effectively removed from the Afghani public life. On August 15, 2021, the Taliban entered Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and took control of the country. While initially, the Taliban promised that women would be able to “exercise their rights within Sharia law”, including being able to work and study, these promises were merely empty words and the women and girls began to disappear from the public square. As Angelina Jolie emphasized

, “Overnight, 14 million Afghan women and girls lost their right to go to high school or university, their right to work, and their freedom of movement.” Ms. Sima Bahous, UN Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director, stressed that “[Afghanistan] is the only country in the world where girls are banned from going to high school.” She further added that “there are no women in the Taliban’s cabinet, no Ministry of Women’s Affairs, thereby effectively removing women’s right to political participation. Women are, for the most part, also restricted from working outside the home, and are required to cover their faces in public and to have a male chaperone when they travel.” As it stands, the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan is unlikely to change anytime soon.". . .

Come On, McConnell, Republicans Need You To Step Up And Lead

 The Federalist

As the top elected Republican in the country, Mitch McConnell has an obligation to immediately and dramatically improve his performance.

"Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was asked yesterday about Republican prospects for the November elections.

“ 'I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different, they’re statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome,” McConnell replied.

"The media and others on the left were of course thrilled with the Republican leader’s “notable quotable” disparagement of Republican candidates and the voters who chose them, which somehow came off even worse on video.

"What was McConnell thinking? What in the world was he thinking?

"Unnecessarily ceding an incredibly winnable Senate to Democrats three months before an election is a great example of the leadership choices that have led McConnell to be the least popular national politician in the country, according to the RealClearPolitics average. And it’s a good example of why so many Republicans — grateful as they may be for his successes — think it’s time for new leadership.

"Still, for the time being, McConnell is the top elected Republican, and he has an obligation to effectively lead the Republican team, respecting the voters and who they have chosen.

"In this case, having a nearly opposite response about Republican prospects rather than the pouty and clinical one McConnell offered would have been strategically and politically wise. It also would have matched much more with the reality of the political environment.". . .

Job One For The GOP: Kill The Inflation Reduction Act

Job One For The GOP: Kill The Inflation Reduction Act – Issues & Insights

Simply put, the IRA is jam-packed with Democratic Party crackpot ideas that couldn’t get passed on their own. It is the most rancid of rotten policy stews cooked up in more than aofore deployed by the climate crowd as possible vehicles to re-engineer the U.S. economy,” says author and attorney Chris Horner.

"Joe Biden’s $700 billion Inflation Reduction Act passed both the Senate and House without a single vote from Republicans. It has zero redeeming value and is the most wretched bill out of Washington since Obamacare was approved in 2010. The GOP has to take it off the books.

As we pointed out in this space weeks ago, the entire bill is a lie. It has nothing whatsoever to do with inflation and, in fact, won’t reduce it at all. The University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Wharton Budget Model says the IRA’s “impact on inflation is statistically indistinguishable from zero.” Bill Adams, chief economist for Comerica Bank, says it won’t rein in rising prices “over the short run.” Even the Congressional Budget Office says it does nothing to address inflation.

What it will do, however, is:

  • Enact much of the New Green Deal, a counterproductive bill that was conceived as a means to redistribute wealth rather than save the environment through green initiatives (anyone sensing a pattern here?), and was estimated to cost $51 trillion to $93 trillion over its first decade.
  • Raise energy costs and, says James Agresti of Just Facts, “make America poorer by subsidizing products that are much more expensive.”
  • Outright rob millions of Americans of their livelihoods by requiring businesses to hire workers rather than letting them work as independent contractors, which many prefer. This provision of the bill is based on California’s 2019 Assembly Bill 5, which has stolen Californians’ right to work and hurt small businesses. The law is so depraved that it’s likely to require the state’s 70,000 independent truckers, who are key to moving goods from West Coast ports to the rest of the country, “to sell their trucks and either retire from the business or drive as an employee of a shipping company,” says Edward Ring of the California Policy Center. It’s nearly impossible to overstate how cruel and malevolent AB5 and the similar provision in the IRA are.
  • Enact hidden taxes that hit Americans across all income groups (Agresti again).
  • “Reduce the incentives of some people to work, mainly because of the enhanced health insurance subsidies, pushing down output and pushing up inflation,” says the CBO.
  • Create a small army of IRS shock troops who will abet the progressive-socialist political complex’s consolidation of raw political power while wrecking families, individuals, and small businesses.
  • Use its 40 pages of amendments to the Clean Air Act “to arm litigants hostile to the energy industries” and employ “various provisions of the Clean Air Act not heretofore deployed by the climate crowd as possible vehicles to re-engineer the U.S. economy,” says author and attorney Chris Horner.". . .

Has the Great Reset Reminded Us Why Freedom's Worth the Fight?

Has the Great Reset Reminded Us Why Freedom's Worth the Fight? - American Thinker

. . ." Looking around today at this rumbling, raging contest between individual freedom and State-imposed control has me pondering that early childhood memory once again.  Can people imagine the costs of securing freedom without having to endure its attendant struggles?  Or is it necessary, from time to time, for some contingent of humanity to suffer through tyranny just so that it might subsequently fight for personal liberation?  "Freedom isn't free."  It's a great bumper sticker, a message of sublime truth.  Do most people actually understand it, though, if they haven't become personally acquainted with its painful meaning?  Or must they first lose what they were freely given before learning why liberty is so dear?  The past two years of COVID-1984 madness and Western governments' increasing obsession with "climate change" fear porn necessitating today's food and fuel rationing suggest an obvious, if dispiriting, answer. ". . .
