Woke Bed Bath & Beyond to shutter 150 stores and cut workforce

Woke Bed Bath & Beyond to shutter 150 stores and cut workforce – PJ Media

According to CNBC, the retailer announced this week that it will close down 150 namesake stores, as well as plans to hand out pink slips to a whopping 20% of its workforce, mostly in the supply chain and corporate sectors of the business.
" The moves were announced ahead of an expected investor update on Wednesday in the company’s seemingly desperate bid to stay afloat.
"As you’ll recall, BBB made headlines in early 2021 after it was confirmed by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell that the retailer had canceled his legendary MyPillow line at the same time he was involved with conservative activism on behalf of former President Donald Trump, specifically working on issues related to election fraud claims. At the time, Business Insider reported: Bed Bath & Beyond has cut ties with My Pillow, the pillow manufacturing company founded by Trump supporter Mike Lindell, the retailer confirmed to Insider.
" Lindell first reported the retailer axing his products, telling a Fox News affiliate and right-wing media outlet RSBN about stores dropping the brand. In the interviews, Lindell attributed the retailer’s decision to social media pressure led by “leftist groups.” “They’re trying to cancel companies now,” he told RSBN.". . .

Lindell Gets Last Laugh: Bed Bath and Beyond Closes Up More Shops After Break Up With Popular ‘My Pillow’ | FRONTLINE AMERICA    . . ."Recall, in 2021, when CNN  Business reported that Bed Bath and Beyond had stopped selling My Pillow products after the pressure received from leftist Cancel Culture mobs- to discontinue their association with Mike Lindell because of Lindell’s support of President Donald J. Trump.

"In their reporting, CNN took the opportunity of highlighting Bed Bath and Beyond’s business decisions to stop selling a handful of products, at the time, to insert their anti-Trump propaganda about Lindell.;"And it seems that Bed Bath and Beyond never recovered or tried to recover from the political messaging that CNN put on their product. Bed Bath and Beyond was branded as Anti-Trump, anti-America First, and anti–Republican   "CNN saw that as a winning strategy for Bed Bath and Beyond and harmful to My Pillow.   "Nevertheless, while My Pillow business has surged ahead- Bed Bath and Beyond has collapsed."

Judging Biden's diatribe

First and foremost I was disgusted by Biden's use of the Marines and the Presidential Seal in this speech. The implication was that the US Marine Corps supported his words and stood with him in this accusation made by the government of the United States and with the vitriol in the words and facial expressions of this dangerous man.  TD

Biden’s Hail Mary Fascist Speech - The American Spectator | USA News and Politics "By every metric, Joe Biden is a failed president, and that’s less than two years into his terrible tenure. Tonight, he will spend his time speaking to the nation doing what he does best: insulting everyone. He’ll accuse his enemies of being fascists, insulting them. He’ll reveal his supporters to be fatuous fools, insulting them.   Here’s a list of things that Biden can’t talk about honestly:

  • Inflation
  • Job creation
  • Recession
  • Closed schools
  • Foreign policy
  • COVID
  • Vaccines
  • Border crisis. . .

. . .“And, again, we see a majority of Americans who disagree. And so when you are not with where the majority of Americans are, then, you know, that is extreme,” she claimed. “That is an extreme way of thinking.”

Biden ignored the numerous crises that erupted under his watch—historic gas prices, skyrocketing inflation, a historic flood of illegal aliens into the U.S., disastrous foreign policy decisions, and more—as he sought to portray his presidency as a success.. . .

Joe Biden delivers “one of the most menacing, bitter, angry and divisive speeches in modern US political history” (legalinsurrection.com)    "Joe Biden’s speech tonight, claiming to be a presidential address demanding free network coverage, was so far over the top its almost indescribable. It wasn’t just an attack on another candidate, it was a Declaration of War in demonic terms on the roughly half of the electorate who voted for that candidate.

"Nile Gardener had it right:

“Joe Biden’s address in Philadelphia tonight is one of the most menacing, bitter, angry and divisive speeches in modern US political history. Hard to believe that a US president can stoop to this level, condemning tens of millions of Americans as enemies and a threat to democracy.”. . .

Teen Girl Enthusiasms: Twitching, Cutting, and Trans

 Ann Coulter

"Remember the twitching girls in upstate New York?
" About a decade ago, more than a dozen teen girls, crazed with puberty and hormones, developed a weird medical condition. Despite the utter scientific implausibility of their alleged illness, the mania soon spread to other girls at their school. And then it all just disappeared, giving us a road map for dealing with teenaged girls today, who demand the right to mutilate their sexual organs and inject themselves with infertility-inducing drugs.
"We'll get back to the twitching girls. First a political point.
"At brunch this weekend, a couple remarked, with some irritation, that in any gathering of Republicans, everybody always starts talking about transgenders. Evidently, it's not just Republicans. The same topic was vexing Democrats at brunch the next day. The couple's point was: STOP TALKING ABOUT TEENAGE TRANSGENDERS! On the other hand, any politician with three functioning brain cells will hear the same story and think, The electorate is inflamed! I better start talking about transgenders! It's nothing big, just the greatest medical malpractice in history currently being perpetrated on America's youth.". . .

This Is How Government Breeds Mistrust

Why Obama Is Out to Get Trump

Why Obama Is Out to Get Trump | NoisyRoom.net   "Professor Jonathan Turley was on Fox saying he had supported the confirmation of Merrick Garland as Attorney General but now says he is disappointed in Garland’s political pursuit of Trump. Turley still doesn’t get it.   Garland is an agent of Barack Hussein Obama, who approved Hillary’s plan to launch the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation of Trump.

"Turley is the Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law at The George Washington University Law School who once gave testimony denouncing “Eugene McCarthyism” before Congress. He was supposed to be an expert on “disinformation and extremism in the media.”

"McCarthy’s first name was Joe, not Eugene. Eugene was a peacenik Democrat.

"The Fox channel calls him a “constitutional scholar.”

"Every day the media talk about Trump, in terms of a secret affidavit authorizing the FBI raid, the Marxists win. What we should be talking about is the Marxist president who got us into this mess and was briefed on Hillary’s Russia-gate plan by his CIA chief, John Brennan.

"Two-term president Barack Hussein Obama is a not-so-secret Marxist whose communist proclivities were carefully concealed from the American people. Brennan’s Marxist proclivities were out in the open since he had talked about voting for the Communist Party as a college student.

"It was Obama, as president, who had to approve Russia-gate. He also happened to be the president who tried to get Garland on the Supreme Court.

"Garland is a political fixer.". . .

Who Are You Calling A Fascist, Mr. President?

Who Are You Calling A Fascist, Mr. President? (thefederalist.com)  "The other day Joe Biden accused voters of the opposition party of turning to “semi-fascism.” This is probably the first time in American history a president has openly attacked the opposing party’s constituents in this way. Grammatically speaking, the accusation could use a little work. What Biden probably meant to say was that 74 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump in 2020 are “quasi-fascist” or “increasingly fascistic.”

"Then again, Biden, who once alleged that the chaste Mitt Romney was harboring a desire to bring back chattel slavery, is prone to stupid hyperbole. And it’s true that most people who throw around the word “fascist” fail to do so with much precision.* Anyway, our president will probably further explain his thinking on the matter of “semi-fascism” when he gives a prime-time speech about threats to our “democracy” this Thursday—a week after he broke millions of existing contracts and unilaterally “forgave” student loans by executive decree. Biden has engaged in historic and unprecedented abuses of White House power. Sometimes, the chutzpah is staggering.

"These days, the word “democracy,” like “fascism,” has lost all meaning. According to Democrats, asking someone to show ID before voting is an attack on “democracy,” but so is the Supreme Court’s handing back power to voters on the abortion issue. When you have no limiting principles of governance, anything that inhibits your exertion of power is seen as anti-“democracy.” If students have loans to be paid, “forgive” them. If you can’t pass a bill, the executive branch should do it by fiat. If the court stops it, pack it. Power is only to be limited when the opposition holds it. When Donald Trump wants to divert money to secure the southern border, it evokes images of 1930s Germany. When Barack Obama unilaterally bestows amnesty on millions of newcomers, without any debate or due process, it is just and moral … and shut up racists.

"A microcosm of this confused thinking can be found in the recent spate of hysterical media pieces about alleged Republican “book banning.” The use of “ban” by the media is more than a category error, it’s an effort to paint parents who use the very same exact democratic
powers the left has relied on for decades as book burners. Public school curricula and book selection are political questions decided by school and library boards. Neither have a duty to carry every single volume on racial identitarianism or sexually explicit material simply demanded by some busybody at the American Library Association. We can debate whether these books are harmful or not, but it is neither fascism nor authoritarian to make those decisions.". . .

They Want Her Dead: Marjorie Taylor Greene Swatted for Second Night in a Row

The Gateway Pundit

FrontpageMag  . . ."As Stephen Green reported Wednesday, the first caller told cops that someone had been shot inside Greene’s home. The Rome News-Tribune said that the call led cops to think “a man who had been shot multiple times was in the bathtub at Greene’s home. The caller also stated there was a woman inside the home and possibly children with her. When officers arrived, Greene assured them there was no issue at the home.”

"For that call, we know the motive. The Rome Police Department stated: “After we cleared the call and went back in service, Rome-Floyd 911 received a call from the suspect, claiming responsibility for the incident and explaining his/her motives. It was a computer generated voice. They explained they were upset about Ms. Greene’s stance on ‘trans-gender youth’s rights,’ and stated they were trying to ‘swat’ her. The report also stated that the caller claimed they are connected to a website that police said supports cyberstalking and gave the police their user name on the site.”

"This makes it clear yet again: radical Leftists are totalitarians. They want their opponents silenced. They want their opponents dead. They will brook no dissent.

"Greene’s spokesman Nick Dyer said: “Right now, Congresswoman Greene’s safety is our number one concern. Late last night, she was a victim of a political attack on her family and home. Whoever committed this violent crime will face the full extent of the law.” To that, MSN sneered that “a statement from Greene’s office… described the calls as ‘violent crimes’ even though no violence occurred.”

"It’s only conservative speech that is violent, you see. Leftists actively trying to fool cops into committing an act of violence and kill a sitting congresswoman? That’s not violence. Violence is only something the other side engages in.". . .

Three Signs We’re in a Banana Republic - American Thinker

. . ."Even though there is now “record-low confidence across all institutions,” confidence in the Office of the Presidency suffered the largest year-over-year drop in 2022 — cratering 15%!  In other words, not only do Americans believe the country is lawless, they’re also convinced that it is being run by a barrel of monkeys!  Clearly, Americans “get” that we’re living in a “banana republic” today.

Here’s the White House’s Excuse for Why Biden’s Been Ignoring Israel’s Calls

Here’s the White House’s Excuse for Why Biden’s Been Ignoring Israel’s Calls (townhall.com)

. . ."Prime Minister Yair Lapid has requested a meeting with US President Joe Biden during his visit to the US for the UN General Assembly next month," The Post reported, "amid deep concern in Jerusalem over an impending nuclear deal between Washington and Tehran."
"Evidently, "Lapid hopes to meet with Biden on September 20, the day that the US president is set to address the General Assembly," but no meeting has yet been confirmed — but it's worse than that. "Lapid has yet to be able to speak to Biden on the phone, despite recent advances in Iran talks, according to multiple sources," The Post noted.
"That is, America's greatest ally in the Middle East can't even get Joe Biden on the phone as the White House works — through Russia, lest we forget — to negotiate a massive payday for the Iranian regime and more normal relations between the tyrannical regime and the rest of the world.
"So why the radio silence from Biden? "At first, the White House cited Biden’s summer vacation," the Post said, "but the president returned to Washington on Wednesday." Never mind, apparently, that Biden's spokespeople have repeatedly insisted that the president is able to do all necessary work required of him whether he's in the White House or off on one of his frequent trips out of town.
"Israel continues to ramp up its military capabilities — with both defensive and offensive weaponry — "in [the] face of Iran’s nuclear program as well as its regional aggression," Defense Minister Benny Gantz recently said after a meeting with Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan". . .

What is 'gain-of-function'?

Why would researchers do gain-of-function work on potentially dangerous pathogens?

Phys.org  . . ."Much of the discussion surrounds "gain-of-function" research. So The Conversation asked David Gillum and Rebecca Moritz, who work closely with virologists on a day-to-day basis to ensure the safety and security of the research, and Sam Weiss Evans and Megan Palmer, who are science and technology policy experts, to explain what this term means and why this kind of research is important.

What does gain of function mean?

"Any organism can acquire a new ability or property, or "gain" a "function." This can happen through natural selection or a researcher's experiments. In research, many different types of experiments generate functions, and some pose certain safety and security concerns.

"Scientists use a variety of techniques to modify organisms depending on the properties of the organism itself and the end goal. Some of these methods involve directly making changes at the level of genetic code. Others may involve placing organisms in environments that select for functions linked to genetic changes.

"Gain of function can occur in an organism in either nature or the laboratory. Some lab examples include creating more salt- and drought-resistant plants or modifying disease vectors to produce mosquitoes that are resistant to transmitting dengue fever. Gain of function can also be useful for environmental reasons, such as modifying E. coli so that it can convert plastic waste into a valuable commodity.". . .

Updated: Alan Dershowitz Sees Sufficient Evidence to Indict Trump in Affidavit

Alan Dershowitz Sees Sufficient Evidence to Indict Trump in Affidavit (resistthemainstream.org)  "Attorney Alan Dershowitz, who has previously defended former President Donald Trump in public and in the congressional chambers, argued there is enough evidence to indict the former president.

"While discussing revelations from the heavily redacted affidavit released Friday, Dershowitz argued that despite there being enough evidence, prosecutors won’t charge Trump due to precedents he dubbed the “Nixon-Clinton standards.”

" 'There is enough evidence here to indict Trump. But Trump will not be indicted, in my view, because the evidence doesn’t pass what I call the Nixon-Clinton standards,” Dershowitz said during a segment on Hannity.

“ 'The Nixon standard is: The case has to be so overwhelmingly strong that even Republicans support it,” he said. “And the Clinton standard is: Why is this case more serious than Clinton’s case, where there wasn’t a criminal prosecution?”

"Dershowitz cautioned that his assessment could change if redacted portions of the affidavit were revealed to the public, but he underscored that there “should not be an indictment based on what we’ve seen up to now.' ”. . .
