Remember Obama's Vindictive shutdown?

 Remember Obama's Vindictive shutdown?

"While there may be parks where a shutdown poses a genuine threat to visitor safety and security, the administration has carried the shutdown to vindictive lengths, inviting these instances of peaceful civil disobedience around the country. "

"As the sun came up over Washington on Monday, National Park Service workers were busy replacing barricades around the National World War II Memorial.

The previous ones, erected ostensibly because of the government shutdown, had been removed by peaceful protesters over the weekend.

Using the supposedly scant resources of the federal government to re-erect barriers around an open-air memorial on public land in this way trumped even the original placement of the barriers in ridiculousness. It also came a day after police in riot gear were dispatched to guard against the protesters — many of them elderly or disabled veterans — who traveled to the nation’s capital to express their displeasure at what they saw as a politically motivated abuse of power by their government.

Welcome to the government shutdown, Obama-administration style. The government has shut down 17 times since the modern budgeting process took effect in 1976, according to The Washington Post. But this time is different, under a president who puts politics before all else. There simply is no reason to close many parks and memorials that never are under lock and key to begin with, especially since it requires more manpower to “close” them than to keep them open.

Both political parties share blame in the current budget impasse, which began Oct. 1. But after announcing weeks in advance that he would flatly refuse to negotiate, President Barack Obama has proceeded to use American citizens, from schoolchildren to elderly veterans, as pawns in his battle with Congress.

This playbook is familiar. After an earlier failure of leadership that led to the sequester cuts, Obama halted White House tours and cut back the number of air-traffic controllers at major airports. The administration’s efforts proved too ham-handed even for his hometown paper, the Chicago Tribune, which slammed “the stunt pilots in the Obama administration” for making a “terrible miscalculation” in encouraging the Federal Aviation Administration’s “phony crisis.” It was easily resolved through Congress authorizing the FAA to shift around money — something the president could have championed himself, had he wanted to.

A number of outrageous stories have emerged from the parks shutdown. At Yellowstone National Park, a tour group composed largely of senior citizens from around the world was kept in lockdown in a park hotel under armed guard after the shutdown went into effect. They were told they could not take photographs of wildlife outdoors. When they were allowed to leave, their bus was not permitted to stop during the 21/2-hour trip out; they were even prohibited from stopping at private bathroom facilities." . . . More...

Why Trump Wants to Ban the Muslim Brotherhood – And Why America Should Care

Kim Ezra Shienbaum and Jamal Hasan

"The way forward is simple. When “charity” is a mask for jihad, it is not charity. When “outreach” is designed to conquer, it is not dialogue. America cannot afford to keep pretending otherwise."

"When Americans consider “charity” they picture their contributions providing clothing for the poor or food for the hungry. When they hear the word “missionary" they picture Christians going abroad to save souls. However, these terms mean very different things to the Muslim Brotherhood, an organization that President Trump has twice attempted to label as terrorist. In radical Islamist teaching, zakat (charity) is not simply about helping the poor; it is about advancing Islam. The aim is to expand the ummah -- the worldwide Muslim community -- through dawah (proselytizing).

"Americans are right to be deeply concerned about what is happening in our own country. Radical Islam is now embedded here at home, cloaked in citizenship and political power.

"In Dearborn, Michigan, the city’s Muslim mayor publicly berated a Christian pastor -- one of his own constituents -- labeling him “Islamophobic” and declaring him unwelcome in Dearborn. The pastor’s supposed offense? A respectful protest at a City Council meeting against renaming a major road after an open supporter of terrorism.

"In Washington, D.C., one of President Trump’s rare outings to a local restaurant was disrupted by protesters waving “Free Palestine” placards in the streets. Months earlier two civilians were gunned down at a public event by yet another pro-Palestinian agitator repeating the same slogan.

"And who can forget October 8, 2023 -- the day after Hamas terrorists butchered Israeli families in their homes? Before Israel could even count its dead, or bury its bodies, America’s elite universities -- including Columbia -- erupted in demonstrations supporting Hamas." . . .

. . . "And Obama and Biden hosted CAIR at the White House. All the while, their own documents -- seized in FBI raids -- describe their mission in America as a “civilizational jihad,” designed to “destroy Western civilization from within.” . . .

Super Bowl Boycott Backlash Grows After NFL Taps Anti-Trump Pop Star Bad Bunny for Halftime Show

 Breitbart

"Further enflaming Americans, the rapper recently said he would no longer perform concerts in the U.S. because he opposes Donald Trump’s immigration policies."

"The NFL is facing growing boycott calls after announcing its decision to tap anti-Trump pop megastar Bad Bunny as the headliner for next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

"Social media erupted this week when the Puerto Rican rapper, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was announced as the main attraction for Super Bowl LX coming up next February.

"Photos began circulating showing the singer dressed in a pink mini skirt and high heels and another in a voluminous white dress as football fans blasted the NFL for once again not understanding their own audience." . . .

Spanberger Refuses To Condemn Male Sex Offender Using Girls’ Locker Rooms

The Federalist

"These policies are in violation of U.S. Department of Education policy, as previously reported by The Federalist."

"Virginia’s Fairfax County claims there is no “probable cause” to charge Richard Cox, a Tier III registered sex offender, for allegedly exposing himself to women and girls.

"Fairfax County’s refusal to charge Cox comes despite an Arlington detective’s testimony that Cox was in possession of child pornography and Fairfax County children’s swim class schedules, Cox’s previous alleged admission of his own compulsions to expose himself, and witnesses claiming that he exposed himself to women and girls in Fairfax County recreation centers’ locker rooms, ABC 7 News’ Nick Minock reported.

"Abigail Spanberger, the Democrat candidate for governor in Virginia, did not respond to The Federalist’s inquiry asking whether she believes it is appropriate for males to have access to sensitive female spaces such as bathrooms and locker rooms, and whether she supports allowing men like Cox to use their supposed “transgender” identities to access
sensitive women’s and children’s spaces. Spanberger has previously refused to condemn men’s access to sensitive women’s spaces, as reported by The Federalist.

"In a statement Friday, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares explained that Cox’s status as a sex offender extends back to the 1990s, and that he was convicted on child pornography charges in 2006. Since then, Miyares noted, Cox has taken advantage of Virginia law that allowed him to change his driver’s license sex description to female, letting him exploit his claimed “transgender” identity and access to female spaces where he allegedly repeatedly exposed himself to women. Cox appealed to this so-called identity in a preliminary hearing in Arlington County Thursday, repeatedly claiming to be a woman and complaining that he was being “misgendered.” . . . More...

Speaking of Virginia: Woke officials in tony DC suburb refused to charge trans sex offender who went ‘hunting’ for little girls, Virginia AG says

"Following last week’s bombshell revelation about Cox having Fairfax County children’s swimming schedules on his phone, Fairfax County police said they still don’t plan to pursue charges."

Winsome Sears Absolutely Nukes Abigail Spanberger in Devastating 'RAGE' Ad   "Republican Winsome Earle-Sears, current lieutenant governor of Virginia and candidate to become the commonwealth's next governor, has released a brutal new campaign ad calling out her Democrat opponent for pouring gasoline on the unchecked rage that's driving too many on the left to commit acts of political violence.

"That opponent, Abigail Spanberger, has been caught on camera several times in recent weeks urging her supporters to  let their rage fuel them into taking action. As we've seen all too often in recent weeks, months, and years, that action has been less "let's talk it out and find common ground" and more "grab your weapon of choice and take to the streets." Or worse." . . .

The undeclared cold civil war in the West.

The Wentworth Report

Richard Fernandez.

The undeclared cold civil war in the West is everywhere coming out of the closet. Both the Woke and Populist coalitions in every country have declared political war on each other at the level of ideology, generation of voter base and economic policy.

The moment of open conflict can be dated from Charlie Kirk’s assassination and the MAGA coalition crossing ‘Red Lines’ on border policy domestically and Palestinian recognition internationally. There were other similar lines of departure in the UK, France and Germany.

The eerie thing about it is not that the kinetic level of confrontation has increased; even the Kirk assassination followed a string of attempts on other figures. It’s just that no one pretends not to see the conflict any more. It is still a cold conflict in the West — for now.

But the conflict is now an open one and to some extent that will redefine politics in the West. It has already broken the old Tory/Labour duopoly in the UK. In the US the Bill Kristols and John Kennedys of the the GOP and Dem parties are gone with the wind.

EndWokeness:

These are not revolutionaries. These are all regular leftists you see every day, outright advocating for murder.  Video

 Anthony Galli:

The biggest political shock I’ve had in my lifetime is seeing just how many Facebook friends and family lamented the fact the assassin missed.

I vastly underestimated their hatred for me as a MAGA conservative.

People Will DIE!

"House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) kicked off a "Stop the Republican Shutdown" live stream overnight, and it may be the least-watched political event in modern history." . . .

. . . " None of this is setting up well for Democrats. When I wrote on Tuesday that they are walking into a trap, I wasn't being hyperbolic.

"It was written in bold letters, rhetorically speaking, that Trump would take full advantage of any shutdown to cull the bureaucracies. With one now underway, hundreds of thousands of government workers, almost all of whom are Democrats, can be fired with little or no recourse. Meanwhile, very little will happen that Americans will notice other than a few bathrooms closing and some interns being laid off, leaving Republicans no real reason to make any real concessions.

"Just how badly are Democrats losing the narrative war? Even The New York Times is framing this shutdown as their fault because there's no other rational way to frame it." . . .  More...

Comey Faces Indictment, but His Real Crimes Remain Untouched

Victor Davis Hanson

"The final irony? All of them have posed as our moral censors, whether peddling the Russian collusion hoax, the laptop disinformation caper, or the lawfare walls-are-closing-in-on-Trump farces."

Rich Terrell

"We have no idea whether the current DOJ indictments will lead to a conviction of James Comey, namely that he authorized FBI subordinates to leak to the media and then lied about it, obstructing Congress in the process.
"It may come down to the word of Comey, a known fabricator, against the testimony of his former subordinate, Andrew McCabe, an admitted liar. Take your pick.
"We know, however, that Comey is not facing a Trumpian $500 million in potential fines, nor 93 indictments, nor the scrutiny of five different local, state, and federal prosecutors. Nor, like some of the J6 arrested, will he be sent to solitary confinement to await a trial in a year or two or be charged with “illegal parading.”
"We also know of the crimes or unethical conduct for which James Comey is not currently being indicted or investigated.
"He is not being charged with pleading amnesia or ignorance in 2018—e.g., “I didn’t know,” “I couldn’t recall,” “I didn’t remember”—a reported 245 times while under oath to House investigators and misleading them.
"He is not being charged with leaking in 2017 a confidential FBI memo of a conversation with then President Trump—which he improperly stored in his personal safe, in violation of FBI protocols—to the New York Times via a third-party Columbia professor.

"He is not being charged for falsely assuring the President of the United States in 2017 that he was not the object of the current Crossfire Hurricane “Russian collusion” investigation—when, in fact, Trump, as the Mueller investigation revealed, was the real target of almost that entire ruse.
"He is not being charged for deliberately leaking an FBI memo of a conversation with President Trump for the purpose of injuring him by prompting the appointment of his friend and predecessor, Robert Mueller, as a special counsel to investigate the supposed crimes of Donald Trump. Comey’s gambit resulted in a 22-month and $30 million administration hiatus, only to find no actionable wrongdoing by Trump.
"He is not being investigated for usurping the role of the DOJ in 2016 when, as an FBI investigator, he served simultaneously as investigator and prosecutor, creating a conflict of interest.
"He was tasked with both finding evidence of Hillary Clinton’s alleged wrongdoing and also making the federal prosecutorial decision whether to indict her for transmitting classified material over an unsecured email server. And after finding evidence of her culpability, he chose not to indict her on the grounds that her candidacy at the time meant no reasonable prosecutor (of which he was then not supposed to be one) would bring such a case against her." . . . More.

The Week In Pictures: Seashells Redux Edition

Power Line Blog

"It was quite a week. The biggest story was the indictment of James Comey, about which I have reservations. But the indictment was a boon to memesters, who recalled Comey’s earlier art project featuring seashells.

"Much more happened, too. The Trump administration adopted recommendations by the Harvard School of Public Health on the use of Tylenol by pregnant women, which were immediately denounced by leftists, even though it turned out that the manufacturer of Tylenol said the same thing. Jimmy Kimmel returned to television and garnered massive ratings in his first show back, mainly due to people tuning in to see whether he would apologize. He didn’t.

"Donald Trump visited the United Nations, only to be greeted with mechanical malfunctions.

"And left-wing violence continued apace, with yet more victims and with zero sign of remorse from liberal leaders.

Newsom Attacks Stephen Miller, Calls Him ‘A Fascist’

"California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) launched an attack on White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, labeling him “a fascist,” in a social media post." . . .

"Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Joel Pollak reported that in an X post from Monday, Newsom “launched an antisemitic attack” on Miller, who is Jewish. In Newsom’s post, he “referred to Miller as ‘SS,’ using an acronym for the Schutzstaffel, the elite Nazi corps:”

The epithet came in a post on X by the “GovPressOffice” account, the official public account of the governor’s press office, which alternates between serious information and attempts to troll President Donald Trump.

The all-caps posting referred to Miller as “SS,” using an acronym for the Schutzstaffel, the elite Nazi corps that was primarily responsible for the murder of millions of Jews in the Holocaust. Miller is Jewish.

Several people responded to Newsom’s post, calling Miller a “fascist” and for Newsom to “stop.” Others criticized Newsom for “inciting violence.”

“You’ve got to stop this,” Andrew Kolvet, the executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show wrote in a post.

Newsom Spends Entire Day Defending ‘Fascist’ Attack on Miller
"California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) spent all day on social media Saturday, defending his incendiary claim that White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller is a “fascist.”

"Newsom decided to call Miller a “fascist” just days after the same accusation was carved into the bullet casings apparently used in the assassination Charlie Kirk. He had also called Miller, who is Jewish, “SS” — a reference to the Nazis who led the Holocaust.

"As Breitbart News reported, several prominent commentators called on Newsom to stop the hateful rhetoric, including Andrew Kolvet, who co-hosted Kirk’s radio show and was close to the late conservative leader.

"But Newsom persisted, and spent the entire day on Saturday defending and doubling down on “fascist.”

"Often, Newsom appeared to imitate President Donald Trump’s rhetorical style, as he has done in the past." . . .

Gavin Newsom’s New Low; He will stop at no cost.

 The American Spectator

"Gavin Newsom’s track record of brazen and unconstitutional efforts to undermine other states’ bans on abortions suggests that, if he was elected president, he would push to force red states to allow abortions up to the point of birth."

"Gavin Newsom has a sick obsession. It is the foundation upon which his entire governing philosophy rests, the animating principle behind all that he does.
"It is a philosophy of death: He is driven to do everything within his power to bring about the murdering of unborn children. This desire for death extends far beyond ensuring that young Californians can be killed up to the moment of birth. It reaches the point that he actively seeks to increase the number of out-of-state killings — even if his tactics violate the Constitution.
"And now, the governor has a new method to enable the large-scale slaughter of unborn children outside his own state’s boundaries. He will aid and abet criminal doctors trafficking in the murder of babies by allowing them to leave off their identifying information from the abortion drugs they ship nationwide en masse. On Friday, he signed a law that will allow abortion pills to be dispensed without the name of the doctor who prescribed it, the person who receives it, or the pharmacy where the medication comes from.
"A pipeline of untraceable drugs that stop unborn children’s beating hearts will now flow freely from California. We will not know who is responsible for this illegal drug trade, only that Gavin Newsom has chosen to enable this criminal activity, so determined is he that these actors kill more and more babies.
"In one sense, Newsom’s new law is a tacit admission that so-called “shield laws,” which purport to protect doctors who illegally ship abortion drugs out of state, are unconstitutional and will not hold up.
"Such laws, including several in California signed by Newsom, claim to protect from extraditions and lawsuits those who kill unborn children in places where this is outlawed. But these laws clearly violate the Full Faith and Credit Clause and the Extradition Clause of the Constitution, because they do not give “full faith and credit” to other states’ judicial proceedings. And they violate the Extradition Clause as well, because they claim to prevent the extradition of persons to the states where they are accused of committing crimes. As a number of state attorneys general put it, shield laws “are blatant attempts to interfere with States’ ability to enforce criminal laws within their borders and disrupt our constitutional structure.”
"This new law will allow Newsom to hide these rings of unborn child killers from justice and responsibility. Thus, the new law is a declaration that, even if the Supreme Court holds that California must give “full faith and credit” to other states’ judicial proceedings, California won’t care and will instead build up covert networks that are enabled to kill more and more." . . . More

Supporters Ask Gavin Newsom To Stop Doing Meth Before Posting On Social Media
"According to sources, Newsom, who has taken to modeling his own life after Trump, began taking meth in an effort to keep up with Trump's chaotic social media schedule. "The man never sleeps. I need something to give me a little more edge," Newsom reportedly confided in his wife shortly before ranting on social media in all caps about how everyone who wants to shut down illegal immigration is a literal Nazi from 1940's Germany."

The legacy left by Democrat presidents

Presidential libraries serve as a historical marker, and in President Reagan's case, a monument to one of the most effective, transformative presidents of the 20th century. President Reagan was instrumental in bringing the Cold War to an end by facing down the Soviet Union. His policies ushered in a generation of American prosperity. His presidential library reflects that."  RedState

Obama Library Funds Are Secretly Flowing to Dark Money Networks – PJ Media  . . . "While community members struggle, insiders at the Obama Foundation are doing just fine. The foundation’s CEO, Emeka Jarrett, earned over $750,000 last year. The executive vice president, Rob Cohen, pocketed nearly $650,000, and also maintains ties to the Pritzker Realty Group. His connection to Penny Pritzker—sister to Governor J.B. Pritzker—only highlights the tangled web of Democratic powerbrokers who are thriving while the project supposedly dedicated to “the people” spirals out of control.
. . . "This entire project reeks of the kind of carefully crafted con job only career political operators could pull off. Sell it as a beacon of unity, then funnel millions to radical, antisemitic causes, all while insiders pocket obscene salaries. It’s a true reflection of the same kind of corruption that plagued Obama’s presidency."
