So much for that two-state solution in Israel (Video restored)

Neil SnyderWar in the Middle East May Be Inevitable   "According to Arens, the Israeli public's mood has changed dramatically as a result of the failure to achieve anything that even resembles peace despite repeated unilateral efforts by the Israeli government to win the cooperation of Palestinian leaders.  To buttress his point, Arens discussed these failed attempts to move the peace process forward:"

1. The Oslo Peace Accords: Arens calls them "an abject failure."
2. Ehud Barak's unilateral withdrawal from Southern Lebanon in 2000: it led to the Second Lebanon War in 2006.
3. Barak's attempt to buy off Yasser Arafat by offering him the Temple Mount and much more in Jerusalem: Arafat flatly rejected the offer and launched "an unprecedented wave of terror against Israeli civilians."
 4. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's unilateral withdrawal from Gush Katif in the Gaza Strip: it was a "grave mistake" because it led to "Hamas taking control of the Gaza Strip and the subsequent rain of rockets on southern Israel."
   5. The Arab Spring: it brought "Islamic fundamentalist rule to the Arab world" and "strengthened the skepticism of many Israelis regarding the presumed advantages of offering territorial concessions to our Arab neighbors."
Snyder follows up with this column:  "Israeli citizens are moving to the right because that's what the evidence indicates they must do."

(Video restored) Imagine Israel living next door to a nation of these people:
I
She recounts with much relish the Hebron Massacre
"There were also stories of Arabs who risked their own lives to save Jews. Rivka Slonim Burg -- the daughter of Rav Slonim and the sister of Eliezer Dan Slonim – recalls [16] that before the massacre there were good relations with the Arabs in the area. “We were even invited to each other’s semachot, joyous occasions.” She was only eight years old when, together with the rest of her immediate family, she hid behind Abu Shaker, the Arab neighbor who stood in the doorway of her family’s home in Hebron, protecting them from the mob."

...."After the massacre, which came to be known as “Meoraot Tarpat --The Events of 5689,” Rav Franco and Rav Slonim made a list of those Arabs who saved Jews during the massacre. The list is published, along with other documents, in Sefer Hevron. Out of a community of 18,000 Arabs, there are nineteen names on the list"

Case of Obama-bashing Marine renews debate over First Amendment rights

The Hill  ...."Stein called Obama a “domestic enemy”  and said he would not follow orders from the president, though he later clarified that he was talking about not following unlawful orders.
" "This is what he's putting out to the public, and he's a sergeant of the Marines, on active duty," said Capt. John Torresala, according to the Los Angeles Times. "How can this not be prejudicial to good order and discipline?" '
...."Hunter, who wrote that Stein should not be discharged for an opinion shared by the majority of Marines, said that Stein was acting as a private citizen “in a forum that encourages civil interaction between family, friends and acquaintances.”
" “He did not appear to be representing the Marines Corps,” Hunter said in his letter to the Marines, “or creating the illusion that he was speaking in some official capacity.” "
Though TW agrees with this Marine's feelings, his words could be construed as inspiring mutiny and could well cause big problems in future critical missions. The Marines are a crack outfit; don't mess with what works well.

Western Journalism Center

" “Good order and discipline require the military maintain respect for the chain of command,” Glazier said. “That includes prohibiting speech critical of the senior officers in that chain of command — up to and including the commander in chief.”
"According to Pentagon directives, military personnel in uniform can’t sponsor a political club; participate in any TV or radio program or group discussion that advocates for or against a political party, candidate or cause; or speak at any event promoting a political movement.
"Commissioned officers also may not use contemptuous words against senior officials, including the defense secretary or the president."
WESTERN JOURNALISM.COM  [Sgt. Stein] "is the founder of the Facebook page called the Armed Forces Tea Party, which he formed in 2010 as an expression of free speech. The page  currently has more than 26,000 followers  and according to its description is ”in no way affiliated with the military, or United States Armed Forces.” He has spoken at several tea party events in southern California during the last two years outside of uniform."
By way of contrast with Sgt Stein:

Obama's friend, Bill Ayres on the military: ENTITLED DOMESTIC TERRORIST MIFFED THAT TROOPS TREATED WITH RESPECT  "Ayres seems to think it is his self-appointed job to “marginalize it and discourage” respect for the military.  Because showing respect to those who guarantee Bill Ayers the right to sound like an entitled and pompous jackass is something beyond his intellectual grasp.
"My guess is among the Bill Ayers of the world, war is never the answer.  Unless of course it is his moth eaten hide that’s in jeopardy.  And then, by God, he’d be the first demanding those who serve in the military put their lives on the line for his lousy existence."

Bill Ayres should love Stein's principles because decades ago he was trying to get our GI's to disobey orders from the chain of command and praising those who did. Though I feel Sgt is worthy of far more honor than Ayres and his Woodstock generation, I can't help but fear Ayres would love to see the military structure disintegrate.

Victor Davis Hanson: Beware of the Mob led by a demagogue

Victor Davis Hanson  "The role of a president is to rein in the mob, not to unleash it. The latter is what community organizers do; the former is what makes statesmen. Yet on issue after issue — anti-terrorism, global warming, government ethics, and racial relations — a frenzied mob, egged on by the media and demagogues like Barack Obama, have almost stormed the jail, only to dissipate when met by either evidence, or the knowledge that the incarcerated was one of their own — as if they had never screamed and threatened in the first place."

Charles Krauthammer: Obama v. SCOTUS

Charles Krauthammer  "The president’s preemptive attack on the court was in direct reaction to Obamacare’s three days of oral argument. It was a shock. After years of contemptuously dismissing the very idea of a legal challenge, Democrats suddenly realized there actually is a serious constitutional argument to be made against Obamacare — and they are losing it.

"Here were highly sophisticated conservative thinkers — lawyers and justices — making the case for limited government, and liberals weren’t even prepared for the obvious constitutional question: If Congress can force the individual into a private contract by authority of the commerce clause, what can it not force the individual to do? "

NEW BLACK PANTHERS: RACE WAR FOR TRAYVON APRIL 9TH 'DAY OF ACTION'

Breitbart.com   "On the organizing phone call for their Trayvon Martin April 9th National Day of action protest The New Black Panther Party engaged in violent, racist, hate filled speech."
Language advisory.

The Rules of Outrage — Or Why the Trayvon Martin Tragedy Divides the Country
"The majority, of citizens, however, sees the current civil rights hierarchy as much of the problem with, not the solution to, the Martin tragedy. No, it is worse than that still: the Martin case has evoked renewed interest not in disproportionate rates of black crime alone, but in the civil rights leadership’s apparent lack of concern about it."

Hope n' Change: Supreme Irony

"Because the dark, ugly heart throbbing at the center of Obamacare is the Independent Payment Advisory Board - known as IPAB to the politically correct, and as The Death Panel to realists. This is Obama's 15-member board of unelected people who will decide what medical treatments the government will and won't pay for, and who will (and importantly, who won't) get treatment. These are the unaccountable individuals who will take Obama's euthanistic threat to pass out painkillers instead of pacemakers and give it the power of law. Law which is specifically not subject to review by any court."

"I Just Cancelled My Subscription To TIME Magazine"

American Glob  "I’m not just saying that.
"Last Christmas, I was given a subscription to TIME Magazine as a gift.
"I just called TIME and cancelled it.

"I’m done.
"I refuse to be called a woman hating racist by woman hating racists.
"You should too."

Media leftism destroys what's remained of it's honor

Thomas Lifson:  The Left is Losing the Media Wars  "The left is taking serious casualties in the Zimmerman affair. Two lefty media operatives lost their jobs, we learned late Friday afternoon. Heads are rolling in the wake of failed attempts to politicize the death of Trayvon Martin. At NBC, a producer has been fired*.  And now Media Matters senior analyst M.J. Rosenberg, having humiliated the organization, is leaving the Soros-funded media bully outfit."

*NBC's 'Rosemary Woods' defense of fired producer  "Tom Maguire points out that NBC is virtually forced to say that the editing was a "mistake" because to admit to a deliberate act would leave them open to legal issues -- like a fat, juicy defamation suit from Zimmerman."

EDITGATE: NBC'S NAMELESS SCAPEGOAT RAISES MORE QUESTIONS  "To think that this biased, irresponsible, race-baiter can now freely move about the cabin and get a job anywhere in the news business, free from public scrutiny, is a cover up.

"Moreover, if NBC won’t name the producer, how in the world are we supposed to know someone has actually been fired?
"But the biggest problem for NBC News is that a single unnamed sacrificial scapegoat doesn't begin to pay for the deliberate crime of throwing gasoline on a racial fire that was already raging."

'Fakegate': Climate Change Fanatics Wage War on Dissenters

By Nancy J. Thorner at  American Thinker  "Why would Dr. Peter Gleick, president of the Pacific Institute, a MacArthur Foundation Fellow, and chairman of an American Geophysical Union task force on "scientific ethics and integrity," break the law to engage in a smear campaign against a small think-tank called The Heartland Institute that resulted in "Fakegate"?"
...."An economist by training, Klaus made the following statement in 2011:
I'm convinced that after years of studying the phenomenon, global warming is not the real issue of temperature.  That is the issue of a new ideology or a new religion.  A religion or climate change or a religion of global warming.  This is a religion which tell us that the people are responsible for the current, very small increase in temperatures.  And they should be punished.
"In light of Heartland's worldwide recognition as a global warming/climate change skeptic of merit, it was only a matter of time before rage would ensue among climate alarmists to single out Heartland for discrediting and destruction."

Alan Caruba: Fakegate: The War on Science  "In the meantime, the mainstream media has swept Fakegate under the rug, says little of the vast implications of Climategate, and continues to pander to the EPA and other elements of the Obama administration despite the obvious fraud, waste and failure of its “Green” programs.

"
The Heartland Institute has already paid a big price for its efforts and needs donors to replace General Motors’ support. It needs your support. "

The Utter Desperation of Global Warmists  "Didn’t like the warmist’s bogus science? A former member of the Clinton administration, Joe Romm, defended a comment on his Climate Progress website that warned that a generation of brain-washed youth would see to it that skeptics would “be strangled in their beds.”
...."Consider this, if they were in charge, anyone who voiced dissent from their global warming-climate change lies would be in concentration camps, undergoing “re-education”, being “treated” with mind-altering drugs, or dead."

All history-challenged members of the Western Left and their useful idiots on American campi and/or defecating on various public places should learn the following:
Political abuse of psychiatry in the Soviet Union
In the Soviet Union, systematic political abuse of psychiatry took place. Soviet psychiatric hospitals were used by the authorities as prisons in order to isolate hundreds or thousands of political prisoners from the rest of society, discredit their ideas, and break them physically and mentally. This method was also employed against religious prisoners and most especially against well-educated former atheists who adopted a religion. In such cases their religious faith was determined to be a form of mental illness that needed to be cured. Formerly highly classified extant documents from “Special file” of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union published after the dissolution of the Soviet Union demonstrate that the authorities of the country quite consciously used psychiatry as a tool to suppress dissent.   Wikipedia
So this is a considered tool of leftists.

"Good" Friday: The Opinion of Thieves

Faith Readers  "He listened only to Jesus. He tuned out the pain, the suffering and all that was going on and in that public place he found himself alone with Jesus and he said, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." There were no words of doubt. Now he knew that Jesus was about to receive a kingdom that few understood and he wanted with everything in him to be a part of it. Jesus responded, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." So much could be said about this. But for now I only want to ask you, "What is your opinion?" "
AMAZING LOVE

He is risen, INDEED!    In the early Church, when one Christian would greet another, often he would say: "He is risen."
And the other would respond, "He is risen, indeed!"
....
Finally, René López observes that Christianity itself would have died, along with its Founder, if it all ended at the cross: "Christianity would have died if Christ had not risen from the dead. There's no possible way to explain the growth of the church....That in itself must be answered by the critics today."
He is risen. He is risen, indeed!
