Lori Lightfoot bids farewell as Chicago Mayoral tenure comes to a close

"Lightfoot, a former federal prosecutor who had never before run for political office, became the city’s first black female and first openly gay mayor when she defeated another black woman, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, in 2019.

"She joined Chicago’s top prosecutor and police chief as black leaders in a city that continues to struggle with race relations.

"Mayor Lightfoot had a record of achievements that included pushing through a $15 minimum wage that labor unions had sought for years and approval of a long-sought casino that’s expected to bring millions in revenue and thousands of jobs. She also had budgeted over $3 million to protect access to abortion, including for people who travel to Chicago from states where the procedure is illegal.". . .

Elderly Passenger Prays For Subway Hero Marine Who Protected Her

Elderly Passenger Prays For Subway Hero Marine Who Protected Her – IOTW Report  . . ."Jordan Neely, a horrifying violent monster who had assaulted a 67-year-old woman, a 64-year-old man, and a 7-year-old girl, threatened to kill a ticket agent and his grandfather (his grandparents wouldn’t even let the deranged murderous monster in the house) is the new George Floyd.

"Democrats and their media are busy turning him into a saint because in between assaulting innocent people, he also impersonated Michael Jackson.

"Daniel Penny, the heroic former marine who put his body between Jordan Neely and any more innocent victims, restraining the deranged monster who kept on fighting to break free and hurt people until he died, was arrested and is to be tried by DA Alvin Bragg’s racist lynch mob." . . .

“Shortly after 8am this morning Daniel Penny surrendered at the 5th Precinct at the request of the New York County DA’s office,” Mr Penny’s attorney Thomas Kenniff told a reporter. “He did so voluntarily and with the sort of dignity and integrity that is characteristic of his history of service for this grateful nation.”

Legal Insurrection

. . ."While the Usual Suspects feel Penny should have been charged with murder, others view Penny as a Good Samaritan for stepping in to protect fellow passengers from someone who reportedly acted erratically and aggressively at the time.

"According to the New York Post, one alleged witness, a 66-year-old female, said Penny did not take action until the situation reached a boiling point:

The subway rider said Neely, who had a history of mental illness, was threatening passengers after he hopped on an F train in Manhattan.

“He said, ‘I don’t care. I’ll take a bullet, I’ll go to jail’ because he would kill people on the train,” the woman said of Neely. “He said, ‘I would kill a motherf—er. I don’t care. I’ll take a bullet. I’ll go to jail.’”. . .

Massive outpouring of GiveSendGo support for Daniel Penny… Soros-prosecutors must be sweating bullets… - Revolver News  "Given the unpredictable nature of this disturbed and violent individual, it was impossible to anticipate the extent to which he would escalate. However, Mr. Penny, a former Marine and a compassionate individual, selflessly endangered himself to safeguard others by restraining the extremely foul-smelling Mr. Neely in a chokehold. Sadly, Neely’s disruptive behavior caused him to lose his life, and now the Soros-backed DA, Alvin Bragg, who also arrested Trump, has filed second-degree manslaughter charges against the heroic Marine.

"This is just more weaponization of our judicial system by the usual radical left wing zealots."

UPDATE: Legal Defense Fund for Hero Marine Charged in Jordan Neely Case Tops $1 Million – PJ Media

While most people would consider Penny a hero for stepping in to keep his fellow citizens safe from a man who was clearly out of his mind, the race hustlers on the left saw another opportunity to inflame racial tensions by protesting the death of Neely — a career criminal with over 40 prior arrests for various offenses, including drug-related charges, disorderly conduct, and fare evasion. At the time of his death, Neely had an outstanding warrant for assaulting a 67-year-old woman.

Will the Media Ever Acknowledge the Biden Family Bribery Scandal? -

The American Spectator | USA News and Politics

It’s in cahoots with the White House to deny, deny, deny.

"The Biden family — Joe, Hunter, and all — are guilty of bribery, but the media is hiding it.

“My son has done nothing wrong.” It’s the mantra Brain-Dead Biden repeats regularly about his son Hunter as the president tries to cloak the Biden family’s greed behind the family’s grief. (RELATED: George Santos Guilty, Biden Family Not?)

(When I speak of the Bidens’ greed, I think of Crackhead Hunter Biden’s refusal to live on the honest six-figure compensation.)

"Crackhead Hunter Biden, 53, has dealt with horrific loss in life. When he was 2, his mother and baby sister were killed in a car accident. Then, in 2015, his brother and soul mate Beau died at age 46 from an insidious form of brain cancer.

"Those awful losses, however, do not excuse Crackhead Hunter Biden’s reckless behavior or his shameless cashing in on the family name, as the House Oversight Committee reported Wednesday. (READ MORE: Bribery Probe May Sink Biden Reelection Bid)

"Committee Chairman James Comer released information about a web of more than 20 shell companies used to conceal money paid by foreign entities, including Chinese and Romanian nationals, to the Biden family. Not just Hunter.

"The committee noted on Twitter, “[W]e can now confidently trace at least $10 million in total from foreign nationals’ and their related companies going to the Biden family, their business associates, and their companies.” Most of the transfers occurred when Biden was vice president.

"According to the report, nine Bidens received payments, including Hunter, the president’s brother James, and Beau’s widow Hallie, who was romantically involved with Hunter after her husband’s death."

"Brandon Administration, Media Downplay and Deny

"In a statement to Fake News CNN, White House spokesman Ian Sams responded, “Comer has a history of playing fast and loose with the facts and spreading baseless innuendo.”

"Crackhead Hunter Biden’s lawyer Abbe Lowell dismissed a Comer memo as “repackaged misstatements of perfectly proper meetings and business by private citizens” with “no evidence of wronging.”

Our American Suicide

 Our American Suicide (townhall.com)

These comments were delivered by Abraham Lincoln, who predicted in his January 27, 1838 speech to the Young Men’s Lyceum of Springfield, Illinois, “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.”

"America is in a fighting mood. Hardly a day goes by without video of a fight among airline passengers or fans at some sporting event surfacing on the Internet. Mobs block subway tracks to disrupt service. Still larger mobs gather at statehouses from Montana to Florida, angry and violent enough to suspend the legislative process. Retailers lock products behind plexiglass fearing hoards of looters.

"Those causing such mayhem often avoid arrest, prosecutors routinely fail to prosecute offenders, and the results are anarchic. “The lawless in spirit are encouraged to become lawless in practice,” noticed one 28-year old state house representative. “Having been used to no restraint but dread of punishment, they thus become absolutely unrestrained.”

"Disorderly scenes today are so common, we’ve become desensitized to them. “Such are the effects of mob law; and such as the scenes becoming more and more frequent,” observed this junior legislator. “The stories of which have even now grown too familiar to attract anything more than an idle remark.”

"The idle remarks on Twitter and elsewhere only exacerbate this climate as mobs grow in number and size, and the danger extends to the nation itself. “By the operation of this mobocractic spirit, which all must admit is now abroad in the land, the strongest bulwark of any government, and particularly of those constituted like ours, may effectually be broken down and destroyed,” warned the young lawmaker. Parents Have Constitutional Rights To Protect Their Children From Leftist Madness Part I -

  Bookworm Room

Leftist states give the government ever greater power to interfere with parenting, but legal history establishes parents’ and families’ long-standing, non-textual constitutional rights.

"This is a two-part series.  Part I examines whether parental rights exist in constitutional law.  Part II will examine the substance of constitutional parental rights.

"With the American family under full-scale assault from those who want to destroy the family and brainwash children in their own toxic ideology, it is more important than ever to establish that parents have constitutional rights to raise their children without government interference. Indeed, a strong argument can be made that what progressives are doing, between the overt sexualization of children and interference with parental rights, is not merely unconstitutional, but criminally so.

"The Supreme Court has held multiple times that parents have constitutional rights to raise and teach their children. These rights, although not explicitly stated in the Constitution itself, are still good constitutional law, even though they are spoken of in the case law as being based on the now discredited legal theory of “substantive due process of law.” That is, the holdings are constitutionally valid even without that “substantive due process” gloss.

The Fifth Amendment and Due Process of Law at the Founding

"In the 18th century, English law clearly defined the phrase “due process of law,” which the Founders incorporated into the Fifth Amendment of the Bill of Rights.

No person shall…be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law….

"That phrase, “due process of law,” has roots stretching back to the Magna Carta of 1215 A.D. The United States adapted it from English law and held the common understanding that the term was a short-hand reference for all of the procedures with which the federal government had to comply before stripping people of their life, liberty or property (e.g., rights to a jury trial, to confront one’s accusers, etc.).

"During America’s first eight decades, state governments were not bound by any of the Bill of Rights’ restrictions. It only applied to and bound the federal government.

"I guess you’re not allowed to be anti-abortion or want to protect kids or the Antifa crowd will try to shut you down. Funny, that sounds kind of — fascist — when you try to shut down the opinion of others and believe that your own opinion is the only one that should be allowed.

"But they found out that things don’t go well when you try to scuffle with the police. This News2share clip shows Antifa dressed in black bloc after they tried to get up in the face of the anti-abortion folks. The police were trying to separate the two groups and that’s when it got out of hand with Antifa pushing back against the cops. Police had their batons and used them to help move the Antifa folks back, pushing some of them to the ground." . . .

“I’m literally recovering from surgery, you fascist f**king pig,” the transgender person yelled.

"Antifa starts with a deficit of common sense, but these characters seem to have won the prize for the bizarre. One of their leaders with a megaphone kept trying to annoy the police as they tried to separate the two groups. He claims he wasn’t doing anything, “I’m just shaking my ass!' ”

Why Republicans Lose All the Time

Republicans lose because Republicans refuse to fight. They – the party and candidates – should be on the air right now with 30 second spots designed to educate the public, giving them “What the Democrats don’t want you to know”

Why Republicans Lose All the Time (townhall.com)  "You can have all the facts on your side and still lose an argument. How? Because the other side is not bound by facts, they’re arguing emotion, and emotion always overrides facts. It sounds stupid, it is stupid, but it’s also true. Think about the things you’ve apologized for in your life – I’d give you odds it was for things you said in the heat of the moment, not after thinking about the situation in a cool, rational way. That emotion factor is a big part of why Republicans always seem to get rolled when it comes to policy debates, but it’s not the only reason."

"Congressman James Comer, who this week laid out a damning case of corruption and influence peddling against the entire Biden family, for reasons unknown, decided to toss in a “this is a bipartisan problem” at the end of his presentation. He threw in, “It is not ethical. And this is why we need legislative solutions. Our purpose here is to provide legislative solutions to prevent this unethical behavior from ever happening again.” No, the purpose should be to weed out the corrupt and, whenever possible, remove them from office and prosecute them. More laws won’t prevent people Derek Hunter May 14, 2023 PRICE DROP inclined to break laws from breaking laws, only consequences will. Has Chairman Comer not been paying attention to cities with progressive prosecutors?
"When you change the focus of an investigation from exposing the corruption of certain people to “everyone does it, so we have to make it harder to do it in the future” you lose your audience, and Republicans already have a hard enough time gathering an audience.

Ketanji Brown Jackson disclosure errors spotlighted in Senate Supreme Court hearing amid Thomas scrutiny

  Washington Examiner

Earlier in the hearing, ranking member Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called the recent reports on the justices a "concentrated effort by the Left to delegitimize the court and to cherry-pick examples to make a point."

"Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's transparency gaps were brought up during a hearing on high court ethics reform by Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), who asked why the Democrats didn't levy the same scrutiny against her as they did with Justice Clarence Thomas.

"Kennedy's questions came during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on ethics after reports revealed Thomas failed to disclose paid trips he went on with wealthy GOP donor Harlan Crow. Democrats have called on Congress to impose ethics rules, while Republicans largely say the justices are capable of governing themselves.". . .

. . ."Justice Jackson made multiple amendments three days after President Biden nominated her. Not one senator brought that up during her confirmation hearings. Not one of my colleagues here walked into her hearings with the buckets of mud that they've thrown against Justice Thomas. Not one," Kennedy said.

"In September, Jackson disclosed that she had “inadvertently omitted” information about self-employed consulting income that her spouse received from consulting on medical malpractice cases. Her revisions also revealed new information about reimbursements for travel and board memberships stemming back to at least 2014, according to Bloomberg."

The media play duck and cover for Joe Biden

 NY Post

The cost is unfathomable, yet activists already are pressing for work papers and citizenship. Next up — Democratic Party enrollment.

"There’s no ducking the central fact — these are hard times in America.

"The combination of domestic and foreign turbulence is creating a crises of confidence in the nation’s leadership, making these days especially difficult for one group of Americans: the media people whose job is to shield Joe Biden from any and all blame.

"Talk about a tough assignment!

"Fortunately for the president, there is a creative cadre of bunco artists who can be counted on to see no evil when he throws open the southern border or when his extended family gets fat checks from foreign potentates and princelings.

""These people used to be known as journalists but then came a man named Donald Trump and, by winning an election, caused them to lose their minds and morals.

"They responded by dividing the world into Trumps and anti-Trumps and declared the Trumps to be permanently ignorant and evil, with the anti-Trumps always virtuous and vulnerable.

"Seven years later, monkeys typing produce more trustworthy reports.

"That’s not to sneer at the considerable skill and strong stomachs required to try to make Biden look like a good president and an honest man.". . .

'That's just not happening': California lawmaker sparks furious backlash after warning black residents NOT to get their hopes up for seven-figure reparations checks - as Gavin Newsom reveals budget deficit is $10 BILLION higher than forecast

California lawmakers warn black residents not to get hopes up for seven-figure reparations checks | Daily Mail Online

"A Californian state senator has urged black residents of his state to be 'realistic' about reparations, a week after the task force - set up to look into the issue - approved its final proposals.

"The task force has not announced how much they think should be given to eligible residents.

"Economists studying the issue have argued the state is responsible for more than $500 billion, due to decades of over-policing, mass incarceration and redlining that kept black families from receiving loans and living in certain neighborhoods.

"Their plan must be approved by the governor, Gavin Newsom, who has already said he does not support the distribution of checks, arguing that there are better ways to deal with the legacy of racist policies.

"On Friday, Newsom said the state's budget deficit is expected to soar to almost $32 billion, nearly $10 billion more than he had projected in January.

"A state senator who sits on the nine-member task force said people should not get their hopes up. ". . .

. . ."Now, however, after a predictable media storm and backlash from the black activists whose hopes he had raised with the reparations task force, Newsom is moving back in the opposite direction. The Sacramento Bee reports:

A spokesperson for Newsom clarified his comments in an email statement to The Bee.

“The sensationalized framing in pieces published by outlets like Fox News and others is inaccurate. The Governor looks forward to reviewing the final report — and all recommendations — when complete.”

Newsom’s chief communication advisor, Anthony York said that Newsom is not backing away from cash payments, but wants to wait for the report in its entirety to arrive on his desk before he makes any decision. . . .

Luxxle: Is this the search engine conservatives have been looking for?

  American Thinker

If I click “Lean Right” and “Freshness,” I no longer get CNN and the New York Times. Instead, the news comes from JustTheNews and Breitbart, and even The Gateway Pundit and Newsmax:

"American Thinker receives hundreds of promotional emails a week. Most swiftly head to the circular file. However, last week I received an email from a woman named Molly Koweek, promising that Luxxle, her employer’s search engine, is truly revolutionary. Her email piqued my interest, so I did something I very rarely do: I set up a phone call. So far, it appears that she didn’t oversell anything; Luxxle really is something different, especially for those who are sick of seeing the major search engines ignore conservative content or give them such a low ranking that they essentially vanish. It’s still imperfect, but it’s better than the alternatives.

"As you can imagine, since I write posts every day, I frequently turn to search engines to help me track down information I know exists, so that I can provide a link to support my factual assertions. And every day, no matter the search engine I use, I run into the same problem: If I saw the facts on a conservative site, the search engines make it almost impossible to locate the source, and that’s true even if I include the site’s name in the search itself.

"Instead, especially for controversial topics (COVID, Trump, J6, etc.), I get pages of content from the New York Times, Washington Post, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, etc.. Sometimes, these sources have the fact I’m seeking but, usually, I have to wade through paragraphs of leftist agitprop to find the fact buried in a paragraph at the end of the article. I waste incredible amounts of time thanks to the search engines’ manifest bias and link to sites to which I’d rather not send traffic.

"That’s why I got interested when Molly’s email said," . . .

. . ."In other words, for some searches, Im no worse off than I am at Bing, Google, or DuckDuckGo, and for other searches, I’m in much better shape. Given that there's no seeming downside and only an upside for making the switch, I’ve set Luxxle as my default search engine."
