"In today’s WSJ, Bret Stephens headlines his weekly column, “Israel Alone”.

Recent conversations with senior Israeli officials are shot through with a sense of incredulity. They can’t understand what’s become of U.S. foreign policy.

They don’t know how to square Barack Obama’s promises with his policies. They fail to grasp how a president who pledged to work toward the abolition of nuclear weapons is pushing an accord with Tehran that guarantees their proliferation. They are astonished by the nonchalance with which the administration acquiesces in Iran’s regional power plays, or in al Qaeda’s gains in Yemen, or in the Assad regime’s continued use of chemical weapons, or in the battlefield successes of ISIS, or in Russia’s decision to sell advanced missiles to Tehran. They wonder why the president has so much solicitude for Ali Khamenei’s political needs, and so little for Benjamin Netanyahu’s.

In a word, the Israelis haven’t yet figured out that what America is isn’t what America was. They need to start thinking about what comes next.  Read more...

A tree dedicated to the memory of Michael Brown has been destroyed by vandals just hours after being planted.

The sapling was planted in January-Wabash Park in Ferguson, Missouri on Saturday as a dedication to the teenager, who was gunned down in the street by a police officer last August[ed.- ‘gunned down’ = shot after attacking police officer].

It was called ‘a symbol of peace, comfort and hope for all who gather around its branches’ at a small ceremony led by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association, which donated the tree.

But by Sunday morning, the branches had been stripped, leaving behind just a shard of the trunk.

To be able to freely demonize and attack people you hate just because without fear of consequences, be recognized and rewarded for it by prog fascists and their tools and to make a handsome living doing it, is, to be blunt about it, weasel heaven. Mikey Weinstein has achieved all three, from his posh offices to the Lotus he drives. The president is making sure the Pentagon has his back and he can destroy the careers of far better men with a phone call. Like I said, he’s in weasel heaven. He deserves this statuette and it belongs on the shelf with all the other awards he’s received for his war on Christians in the military." . . .

The John Doe Law:  Revealed: How Partisan Prosecutors Harassed and Intimidated Wisconsin Conservatives

" Read the whole thing (and here's what SWATing is, for those who haven't heard of it).  French's reporting identifies the chief culprit in all of this as hardcore Democrat and Milwaukee District Attorney John Chisolm, who was skewered in this lengthy piece by Stuart Taylor last year.  Taylor quoted a former prosecutor explaining how Chisolm, at the prodding of his wife -- a fanatical Walker opponent -- made bringing down Walker his "personal duty."  Posters depicting the pro-union 'blue fist' emblem hung on the walls of Chisolm's supposedly nonpartisan office.  Milwaukee's top prosecutor became the Democratic Party's top hatchet man, abetted by a rubber-stamp judge (who has since recused herself), and vested with the full powers of the state. Wisconsin’s Shame: ‘I Thought It Was a Home Invasion’.

. . . “ 'This is a taxpayer-funded, opposition-research campaign,” one source said. “This is not a question of what conservatives did wrong. It’s a question of one party in this state using prosecutorial powers to conduct a one-sided investigation into conservatives.' ”

John Does come with strict penalties for those who violate the terms of the secret proceedings.

The knock on the door in the dead of night is the stuff of Darkness at Noon, and of the state of Wisconsin. . . . "Wisconsin legislators are considering scaling back the law enabling John Doe investigations to prevent future abuses. The John Doe process might make sense for unraveling a dangerous criminal syndicate; it isn’t appropriate in a tenuous campaign-finance investigation, let alone as a tool of intimidation against people on the wrong side of a political argument."

Legal Insurrection: Wisconsin Dems used battering rams against Scott Walker supporters – literally. . . Power Line  . . . "By the time we reach the phrase “we agreed on parameters” in the second sentence of the column, we have reached the end of the line for true words. It was only last week when Zarif’s ultimate boss blasted Obama for “lying” about the White House fact sheet setting forth the parameters. See Tom Joscelyn’s Weekly Standard column reporting the relevant comments. Who ya gonna believe, John Kerry’s friend or the man they call the Supreme Leader?
