• Politico predicts a mid-term election dogfight for control of Congress. The cynicism is palpable. To try to lock down the female vote, Socialists are seeking endorsements from the two celebrities that liberal white women admire the most – Luigi Mangione and that crazy woman who strangled her three kids. 

 

" • The Freedom 250 Grand Prix had Indy cars racing around our national monuments in D.C. on Sunday. It had bi-partisan appeal. To thrill the Republicans the event had a patriotic theme, and to thrill the Democrats the race car drivers had to spend 2 hours making sudden and scary turns to the left.

• Hillary Clinton was reported Sunday planning Bill's eventual funeral consisting of a service and the National Cathedral then burial at his library in Little Rock. The toughest part for Hillary is not the emotional loss of her husband, the toughest part is making Bill's death look like an accident.

• Jill Biden on Friday was discussing her husband's condition the night of his 2024 debate with Donald Trump and Jill raised the possibility that Joe had been drugged. It's the only explanation why Joe was so well-spoken and coherent. Hunter always wondered what happened to his stash that day.

• The U.S. Senate will take up the bill sponsored by Ted Cruz that cracks down on the Wild West economics of college football. It limits NIL money, salaries, bonuses and number of transfers. Ted Cruz says he wants to do something to help young people and he can't think of a way to deport them.

• The Supreme Court issued a ruling allowing President Trump to continue building the White House ballroom. The ballroom is already halfway built. I don't know who will provide the music for the first White House ball next year, but as well as ICE is doing their job I doubt if it's a Mariachi Band.

• President Trump trumpeted his success in deportations and shutting down border crossings to a cheering crowd in South Carolina. This spring Trump offered arrivals in sanctuary states $1,000 and a plane trip home and it finally worked. On Friday, Prince Harry and Meghan agreed to self-deport.

• King Charles was petitioned by PETA to remove his name from King Charles Cavaliers due to the dog breed's genetic poor health. His Majesty is busy enough with two new court pets. Prince Harry and Meghan are moving home to England this week in order to spend more time with the King's money.

• President Trump let the war option slide Friday and warned Iran that they now face an economic D-Day. Iran's Mullahs quickly responded by declaring that Iran's military has defeated the U.S. It's the most legendary upset win since Elizabeth Warren defeated General Custer at the Little Big Horn.

• Bill Maher in his HBO monologue Friday slammed Democrats for condoning and promoting anti-Semitism. In addition a report came out saying anti-Semitism is breaking out throughout New York's public school system. Mayor Mamdani reacted to the report by saying he can't take all the credit.

• House Oversight ranking Democrat Jamie Raskin listed the probes he'll launch into Trump if the Democrats win the mid-terms as polls show they could. Republicans mustn't despair and take heart. When you think there is no hope left, remember the lobsters in the tank of the Titanic's restaurant.

• Sen. Jon Ossoff goaded Trump in a speech by bringing up Trump's beautiful blonde assistant Natalie Harp, who is always at his side. It's good that we all get to know Natalie and her role in America's favorite comedy series Get Trump! Natalie Harp will be playing Melania in Seasons 3 and 4."

“'Are you okay with this crap?” they demanded. Yes, I am, but then I’m a mature adult with a sense of humor. More people on X should try developing one. Their lives would be much more enjoyable. Watching the media hop up and down over whatever Trump says is entertaining, and watching heads of state hop up and down because of whatever Trump says or does is endlessly entertaining. Watching totally ordinary people twist themselves into knots over something Trump does is a bit pointless, especially with people who claim to be conservative. Does any of what I just said mean that I agree with Trump renaming Lake Ontario? No, I think it’s silly, but I also think it’s funny. Having parents who worked in the federal government before you could make money doing so has left me with a twisted sense of humor. Reading Bloom County at the age of 12 was educational, to say the least, but definitely didn’t help.

"Downtown Atlanta has an unpleasant grayness to it, as if its architects forgot their charm at home when it was built. I glanced up at the towering corporate buildings that block out any sun that could have reached me, cut through Georgia State University’s greenless college campus, and my route was redirected by the relentless percussion of jackhammers that chipped away at the sidewalks. Finally, I approached the automatic doors to my destination, Azalea Fresh Market, and was welcomed by two security guards.

"At first glance, the store seemed like an ordinary supermarket, but a bit smaller than my usual. Upon a closer look at the items, the prices were anything but ordinary. My eyes darted toward the row of eggs displayed: $3 per dozen. Next to the eggs was a gallon of milk, $4. Behind me was a loaf of Sara Lee Honey Wheat bread, $5, and a 12-pack of canned sodas, $10. I trudged up a nearby set of stairs to see a modern café that featured a sushi counter, a sandwich shop, and a smoothie stand with several iPads to place an order. The sleek wooden tables and chairs were filled with professionals and students typing away on their computers while enjoying a sip and a bite. If you were anything like most Atlantans, given the prices and atmosphere, you probably thought that I was at the newest semi-luxury food market that I spotted on TikTok. In reality, I went to a government-funded grocery store that socialists are raving about.

"Azalea Fresh Market opened last September to address a growing demand for a grocery store in downtown Atlanta. Its opening was the result of a partnership between the City of Atlanta, the Independent Grocers Alliance, and a successful local mini-grocery store chain, Savi Provisions. With no major grocery company inclined to open a location in the downtown area, the City of Atlanta managed to contribute roughly $8 million in cash, loans, and grants to provide the infrastructure needed to help open the business (as well as a second location that is under construction), while the owners of Savi Provisions operate it independently, hoping that the ongoing success of the store will eventually allow it to run on its own. To reach that goal, the store keeps the prices of staple food items as close to those at other supermarkets as it can (though $3 for a dozen eggs and $5 for a loaf of bread can really add up for the more budget-conscious shopper), while operating the café upstairs to generate higher-margin sales from college students and professionals.

"Given the intent behind the establishment of this store, it’s difficult to imagine why it’s gaining so much praise from advocates for Zohran Mamdani’s proposed government-owned markets. Mamdani’s goal isn’t to target food deserts; he aims to outprice private grocers in areas where supply is abundant because he’s convinced that businesses are price-gouging consumers."
