Caught Pushing An Apocalyptic Scenario They Knew Couldn’t Occur, Climate Scientists Are Now Claiming Their Policies Prevented It

"Clique of stealth activists, including the former head of the National Academies of Science, claimed a high-emissions future was possible long after it had been falsified"

Michael Shellenberger

Zeke Hausfather, climate scientist and IPCC lead author; Marcia McNutt, geophysicist and former
president of the National Academies of Science; Gavin Schmidt, climate scientist and director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies

"Climate policies saved the world from catastrophic warming, say leading climate scientists. On September 1, a consortium that produces analyses for the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released new scenarios. They say the new worst-case scenario is just 3.3 degrees Celsius of warming by 2100 over pre-industrial temperatures. That’s down from 4.6 to 4.9 degrees of the last three generations of climate scenarios used by the IPCC. “Our business-as-usual projection of 3C of warming – rather than 4 or 5C – is a testament to the progress in global decarbonization over the last few decades,” wrote climate scientists Zeke Hausfather, Glen Peters, and Piers Forster back in May.

"Others agreed. Chris Smith, a modeler at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis who helped build the new scenarios, told Carbon Brief that “back in 2010, RCP8.5 wasn’t an implausible future, we’ve now made it an implausible future.” Gavin Schmidt, the longtime director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, argued that scenarios shifted “in light of what we (as a society) are doing,” so that “we have already done things and so ‘business’ is no longer ‘usual.’” Robert Vautard, cochair of the IPCC working group on physical science, said the old high scenarios “assumed no climate policies,” while “there ARE now many climate policies in many countries, developed in particular with the Paris Agreement signed in 2016.”

"But the high emissions scenarios were never plausible."  More.

Florida’s Curriculum on Communism — Every State Should Follow Suit

DeSantis wants students to learn what socialism looks like after the slogans meet reality.

The American Spectator

"If our educational system was working better … Marxism would have the same evil connotations as Fascism."

Mike Rowe: Supporters of socialism are mostly college grads pissed they're buried in debt because they swallowed the 'get a degree' kool-aid"

"Florida’s middle and high schools are expanding instruction on communism for students in grades 6 through 12. Last November, Florida’s Board of Education approved new History of Communism standards to be implemented during the 2026-2027 school year."

"In 2024, the Florida legislature passed, and Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law, measures requiring schools to teach about the “evils and dangers of Communism.” DeSantis started this process back in 2021. One goal of the law and new standards is to prepare middle school and high school students to “withstand indoctrination on Communism at colleges and universities.” Every state in the country should follow Florida’s lead, despite those on the left who characterize Florida’s move as a “dangerous recasting of McCarthyism” and designed to teach students “what to think, rather than how to think.” (RELATED: Meet America’s New Un-Americans… the DSA)

"A history professor at UCLA said: “If I were a teacher, I would feel really scared by this” — apparently teachers should be scared to tell the truth about communism. A retired Yeshiva University history professor expressed concern that the curriculum would downplay or ignore “McCarthyism,” which she described as “the longest lasting and most widespread episode of political repression within the United States,” ignoring the extent of communist infiltration of our government and society that even McCarthy underestimated. (RELATED: The Communist Warnings Conservatives Ignored for Years)

"A history professor at the University of Central Florida claimed that the new standards are a “rewriting” of history. The daughter of blacklisted communist Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo criticized the legislation last year as an effort to downplay the Red Scare of the 1940s and 1950s.

"These are examples of a phenomenon known as “anti-anti-communism,” which portrays anti-communists as greater threats to liberty than communists. For this group, Joe McCarthy was a greater threat to America than those domestic communists who worked on behalf of Josef Stalin. . . ."  More.

The Scott Bessent Fireside Chat in Pictures

"Socialism never works. Free enterprise always does. November is coming."

"The Wall Street Journal sat on the story for months. Cable news buried it. But the numbers don’t lie - and the numbers are stunning. In a chat at the G20 with Larry Kudlow, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent offered a recap of the economic success stories that have been hidden from the public. This is the story Americans need to read before the midterms.
"Since1/20/2025, the American economy has ripped. Profits are up 53%. 900,000 new private-sector jobs created. Meanwhile, half a world away, a regime that spent forty-seven years chanting “Death to America” is watching its currency turn to confetti. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent calls it Operation Economic Outcast. Iran is a snake with its head cut off.
"The bond market, the stock market, the oil fields, the semiconductor fabs — all soaring. In 2026, drug prices have seen the largest one-year price drop since 1963.
"The doctrine is simple: cut taxes, cut red tape, drill, onshore, and hunt the bad guys down to their last offshore trust.

California Spent Years Banning Christmas From Schools and Now Wants to Celebrate Islam

  Renewed Right

"Democrats are moving Assembly Bill 2017 towards Gavin Newsom to sign. This will make Muslim holidays states holidays. Public schools and Universities CAN CLOSE to observe Muslim holidays. Democrats are the party of Islam"

"California schools erased Christmas.

"They renamed it "Winter Break" and told Christian parents the state had to stay neutral on religion.

"But now Gavin Newsom is about to sign a law forcing those same schools to celebrate Islam.

The Asymmetry Written Into the Law

Assembly Bill 2017 does three things California has never once done for Christians or Jews: it makes Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha official state holidays, authorizes school closures on those days, and directs the State Board of Education to build a model curriculum guide for classroom exercises marking the holidays.

"The bill passed the California Assembly 64-1.

"Sixty-four lawmakers voted yes.

"One had the nerve to vote no." . . .

. . . "The bill cleared the Assembly in May and ran through the Senate committee.

“California is home to one of the largest and most vibrant Muslim communities in the country,” said bill author Assemblymember Matt Haney. “AB 2017 is about making sure Muslim Californians are seen, valued, and treated with the same dignity as every other community in our state.”

"The legislative session ended Monday – which means Newsom either signs it or lets it die.

"He's going to sign it.

"Newsom has spent his entire political career building the coalition that wrote this bill – San Francisco Democrats, CAIR, progressive advocacy groups.

"The assemblymember who introduced AB 2017, Matt Haney, represents San Francisco."  More.

UPDATED Thursday, Sept 3;  UPDATE: California seeks to honor Islam - American Thinker   "Following this outrageous act by California, we now learn the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) has done one better. Its store, which sells customized WNBA jerseys, has banned any mention on them of “Jesus Christ” while authorizing the use of “Muhammad” and “Allahu Akbar.” And, despite the socialist influence destroying the Democrat party, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who is Jewish, says Jews may need to sacrifice their own future to save humanity by voting Democrat."

Beauty and Destruction: Wartime London in Art

Imperial War Museums;..... Imperial War Museums  via Military History Matters

Louisa Puller captures an area of total devastation north of St Paul's Cathedral after intense aerial bombardment
 in the winter of 1940-1941.

"The German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, conducted aerial raids against Britain between May 1940 and the early part of 1945. The most intense period, known as the Blitz, came between May 1940 and September 1941.

"Though the Blitz saw towns and cities across Britain subjected to bombing raids by the Luftwaffe, London received the heaviest and most sustained assault, with 57 consecutive night raids.

"The War Artists’ Advisory Committee was set up in 1939 to compile a documentary record of the war. As the bombs rained down on the capital, the WAAC and its artists were eager to get to work documenting the scenes that played out night after night.

"Some of the WAAC artists even served in the Auxiliary Fire Service - their understanding of the work evident in their art." . . . More...

Matvyn Wright, working for the Auxiliary Fire Service, witnessed with his colleagues the extraordinary strange silhouettes and falling forms of the Thames Blitz; here he captured the fear of waiting and destruction. The bomb almost appears to be held up by the crane-like structures of the barge. In reality, this is a fragile snapshot before the inevitable explosion, with the fire crew poised to respond."

Hunter Biden reveals he used Burisma cash to buy drugs, Joe Biden ‘showed up’ to his drug den flanked by Secret Service

 The Post Millennial

"The younger Biden said that his dad would always be there for him [and selected grandchildren] with that unconditional love, no matter what Hunter did."

"Hunter Biden admitted in a new interview that his lucrative board appointment at Burisma as well as other roles helped him to fuel his crack cocaine addition. Biden sat on the board of the Ukrainian energy giant Burisma earning $80,000 per month for his services.
"Biden appeared on the "Dopey" podcast, where he talked about how he embarked on a two-month bender but "never went broke" while he was staying at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. He said that he tried to "go out with a bang."
"Speaking to host Dave Manheim, who asked him how could afford the long stay at the ritzy hotel in California, Biden replied, "Well, I still had the residual. Like for instance, I still was on the board of Burisma."
"The younger Biden was appointed to the board of the Ukrainian energy company in 2014 while his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, was dealing with Ukraine policy in the Obama administration."
"Although he had no experience in the energy industry, the younger Biden argued that he was qualified for the role and that he wasn't “running some kind of international crime syndicate.” . . .   More.

Randi Weingarten fought Texas to let teachers celebrate Charlie Kirk's murder. It didn't go her way.

 Conservative Review

"'Sadly, Texas officials, unlike their colleagues in Utah, decided to exploit the tragedy of Mr. Kirk’s senseless murder, rather than deescalate," said Weingarten, a leftist who was instrumental in keeping schools shuttered in 2020."

"It's been almost a full year since Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University. In that time, numerous liberals have outed themselves as bloodthirsty extremists, expressing joy over the murder of the young father of two.

One of her teachers
"The Lone Star State made abundantly clear that it would not tolerate such extremism — especially not among public servants and those charged with educating the youth.

"This evidently vexed American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten and the Texas American Federation of Teachers, who announced a lawsuit in January challenging the crackdown on Texas educators' public expression of pro-assassination sentiments.

"The lawsuit did not go over as planned.

"Two days after Kirk was assassinated, Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath sent a letter to district superintendents, warning that his agency was aware that some Texas public school educators had posted or shared "reprehensible and inappropriate content on social media" about Kirk and his death.

"A Klein Independent School District employee had, for instance, apparently called Kirk a "racist, homophobic, a misogynist, transphobic nasty person." A high school teacher in the Midland Independent School District allegedly told students that Kirk "deserved what he got." . . . More.

Judge Who Tossed Confession For 9/11 Mastermind Outed As Left-Wing Ideologue

 Daily Wire

“'The prosecution has failed to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that Mr. Mohammad’s statements to the F.B.I. were voluntarily given,” Schrama wrote, according to the ruling’s conclusion."

"The military judge overseeing the long-delayed prosecution of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed recently threw out the terrorist’s confession to FBI agents, dealing a major blow to the government’s case. Now, the judge’s writings have come under scrutiny for his criticism of conservatives in the military.
"Lt. Colonel Michael Schrama, an Air Force judge presiding over the military commission at Guantanamo Bay, ruled Friday that statements Mohammed made to FBI agents in 2007 were not given voluntarily and could not be used against him at trial. The ruling came just days after Schrama set June 5, 2028, as the start date for Mohammed’s trial, nearly 27 years after the September 11 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans.
"Mohammed had previously been subjected to CIA interrogations, including 183 instances of waterboarding, after his capture in 2003. Prosecutors had already excluded statements from those interrogations. Schrama went further, finding that the effects of the earlier interrogation continued to influence Mohammed when he was questioned by FBI agents at Guantanamo in 2007.
"But scrutiny of the judge has also revived a 2023 essay in which Schrama argued that the military needed new legal tools to combat what he described as a growing domestic extremism which he attributed to the military’s “conservative tendencies.” . . .   More.

Understanding the Democrats’ Weird Relationship With Islam |

The American Spectator   "What do Democrats like Kathy Hochul, James Talarico, and Gavin Newsom have in common? All three are paying homage to Islam for political gain.".

Toon added by TD

. . . "California Governor Gavin Newsom is set to sign legislation recognizing two Muslim holidays, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, as state holidays and allowing public schools to celebrate their significance.

"There are over 12 million Catholics in California, yet schools have no similar authorization to celebrate the religious significance of Christmas, Easter or Good Friday."

Prosecutors Say Tyler Robinson Killed Charlie Kirk over Politics |

"Fascist is a common derogatory label that those on the left give to those on the right to try and categorize them and group them with the famous evil dictators and fascists of the 20th century.” Eva Terry

David Hitch

National Review  'Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, will face a trial for all seven charges originally filed against him, District Judge Tony Graf ruled on Tuesday evening.

'Following Graf’s ruling, Robinson’s attorney pleaded not guilty on his behalf on all counts.

The closing arguments in Robinson’s preliminary hearing focused on his alleged political motivation to target Kirk and whether he knowingly created a risk of death to others when he fired a high-powered rifle into the crowd at Utah Valley University last September.

'Utah County Attorney Ryan McBride noted during the hearing that Kirk, the co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, was known for “debates and discussion on traditional family values, orthodox Christian views on sexuality, marriage, gender, and sex, as well as other political doctrines.”

''We knew what Charlie Kirk stood for, and those ideas were repugnant to the defendant, who was in a homosexual relationship with a man who was considering transitioning genders,” McBride said. “It doesn’t take a lot to connect the dots.”

'Prosecutors argued throughout the hearing that they have “overwhelming” evidence that Robinson killed Kirk while the conservative activist was speaking at UVU. Lawyers for Robinson have tried to keep the case from going to trial on the charge of aggravated murder, which is punishable by death.' . . .More.

Trump to meet with oil refinery reps to discuss expanding US refining capacity to lower gas prices |

Just The News

"President Donald Trump is expected to meet Tuesday with oil and gas executives at the White House to discuss how to expand U.S. refining capacity with the goal of reducing gasoline prices.

The meeting will include Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and National Energy Dominance Council Executive Director Jarrod Agen, CNBC reported, citing unnamed sources.

Joining the group will be representatives from small, medium and large refiners and distributors, according to CNBC's source.

White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers said in a statement that Trump will discuss ways to expand refining capacity, which has changed very little over the past 40 years. Trump will also discuss expanding energy production across the supply chain in order to bring down costs for consumers, Rogers said.

“President Trump is laser-focused on ensuring his successful energy dominance agenda translates into the most cost savings possible at the pump for consumers,” Rogers said."

Oil prices spike as fighting between U.S. and Iran resumes, gasoline price jump likely to follow   "Typically, gas prices don't respond immediately to changes in oil prices. It can take a few days before drivers see the impact at the pump, the New York Times reported

"West Texas Intermediate futures, the American benchmark, climbed from $83.40 per barrel on Friday to $85.67 per barrel on Monday. Brent Crude prices, the European benchmark, were over $90 per barrel on Monday, up from $89.23 Sunday evening. " . . .

Talarico in 2020: Capitalism Is White Supremacy and Texas Oil Is Kinda Racist

"As a Texan, James Talarico makes a pretty good ... Californian. Politically speaking, Talarico's appeal would be even more limited to the Berkeley/San Francisco/Hollywood version of California. And now that the general-election season has kicked off more or less officially, Ken Paxton and the GOP want to make sure everyone in the Lone Star State understands just how poorly Talarico fits."

"I’m an alleged national treasure. I won’t be bullied by actors over my views on Israel"

 Maureen Lipman

"Why did he have to release a lengthy, moralising statement attacking views I have “publicly and repeatedly” expressed?"

"I am in Corfu, on a yacht that is not sailing to Ithaca and Zakinthos. The skipper went AWOL and the chef is in hospital. So much for our delayed honeymoon.

"Meanwhile, back home, a young actor by the name of Gerard McCarthy (apt, you might say), has withdrawn from his role in a West End play because ... I am in it, and my “views” on Israel and Palestine are beyond the pale.

"It is a rather curious decision, given that six weeks ago Mr McCarthy came to see me perform in the first night of Allegra, a play which has just finished its London run. He was pictured at the after-party and even posted (now deleted) glowing praise for the play and my performance on Instagram.

"I am joining a cast that Mr McCarthy was already part of. We are reading out letters and poems about suicide, to generate awareness of the issue and raise money for the cause.

"So what prompted this man to now refuse to share a stage with me for one day in Right Before I Go? If he was scared away (I’ve no idea that he was) over fears of what friends and colleagues may think of him, I want to know about it.

"He was not going to have to brush up against me in the wings for six weeks. He would not have had to inhale my partisan support for the state of Israel.

"I might add that my appearance as Evelyn Plummer in Corrie a few times a week does not give me a back channel to Bibi Netanyahu, despite the fact that yes, I am Jewish.

So Mr McCarthy, I challenge you to meet me in an Ottolenghi branch of your choice for a hummus and mint tea. We can swap certainties about the world.

"But I also want you to explain your rejection of the things which make our business viable and comradely. Why are you refusing to work with an 80-year-old, experienced actress (allegedly I’m a national treasure) for the benefit of young people who are struggling to find the strength and courage to go on living?

"We are in a business which is all about diversity. If we spit on art, we are being fascistic.

"There are a lot of Jewish actors who won’t speak up for Israel. They keep quiet. That is up to them. But I will not countenance juvenile, immature posturing.

"Why didn’t Mr McCarthy just say he had a hernia if he really could not face working with me?"  More.
