Oscar-nominated female movie director jokes about murder of Bank of America VP who'd just completed maternity leave and likens knifewoman, 49, who stabbed her to Luigi Mangione

Alexander, best known for her cult classic Green Street Hooligans and Oscar-nominated short film Johnny Flynton, continued to respond to criticism on X with calls to boycott the bank.

"An Oscar-nominated movie director has sparked backlash after celebrating the murder of a young Bank of America executive who was killed in a stabbing spree in Times Square.

"Alexander posted an image to social media the next day depicting Batman staring up at a bat signal depicting the face of alleged CEO-killer Luigi Mangione, who has since become a vigilante-style hero to legions of twisted fans.

"The post attracted more than 36,000 likes but sparked a furious response from other social media users, but Alexander doubled down on her ridicule.

"She claimed the backlash was being fueled by a 'Hasbara bot farm' – a reference to Israel's public diplomacy arm – as a result of her calls to boycott Bank of America due to its ties to the nation.

"Alexander then shared news articles criticizing her mockery of Piacenti's death, complaining that it is her first taste of relevancy in some time in her filmmaking career. 

"'Can't get this kind of press when I promote a movie, but post a Luigi meme and they're all over you,' she wrote. 'No wonder everybody constantly sounds crazy on here.' " . . . More...
