Obama and his pen; disaster in the making

Obama to go after air conditioning next

 Emissions Overreach
. . . "Like so many other destructive initiatives, this executive overreach has been enabled by an overly indulgent Supreme Court, which in 2007 put its imprimatur on the preposterous notion that carbon dioxide — the stuff you exhale — can be classified as a pollutant under the Clean Air Act, which was designed to help combat things such as smog and to regulate poisonous emissions from industrial facilities.
" The president is coming out swinging here, and Republicans ought to swing back twice as hard, for instance by moving to amend the Clean Air Act, stripping the president and his EPA minions of their ability to engage in this mischief. Indeed, the Clean Air Act is very much in need of reform: Despite the fact that many of the law’s goals have been met and exceeded — on ozone, on particulates, etc. — the rules promulgated under the act get ever-tighter and more expensive to comply with rather than the other way around."  Read more

Obama in Africa: ‘The Planet Will Boil Over’ If Everybody Has a Car, Air Conditioning and a Big House  . . . "The president made the comments while speaking at the University of Johannesburg-Soweto on Saturday, one day before announcing his “Power Africa” initiative for a “sustainable” African energy strategy." . . . Video

Obama's pen strikes again
. . . "There are several problems here:
1) Aren't you sick and tired of watching a U.S. president govern by decree?  The EPA has become a wrecking crew attacking U.S. companies.  Where did the president get that authority?  Or what about the EPA?
2) What about the impact of all of this on jobs?  Are companies in a position to adopt all of these ideas from people who have never run a company or met a payroll? " . . .Read more

"Incredibly, and dangerously, 45% still approve of the job he's doing."

Reparations? How about ~7 trillion?

Richard Butrick   "Flop or not, it has cost the American taxpayer $22 trillion.  On a raw basis, more of that money has been spent on whites, since whites outnumber blacks ~9:1.  But on a percentage of population basis, three times as much has been spent on blacks.  It wasn’t done in the name of reparations, but to the extent that the higher rate of poverty among blacks is the result of discrimination, the effect is the same.  If that is not – stupid and misguided though WoP may be – reparations, then what is?  Throw in forced sub-prime loans to “minorities” and the banking collapse of 2008, and who knows what the real cost of WoP is – a testament to the failed feel-good social policies of self-anointed white liberal champions of black Americans.

"But there it is – failed or not – an attempt to break the poverty cycle for blacks and America’s underclasses generally, who are perceived as not getting a “fair shot” and a “fair shake.”  What else should reparations do?"    Read more

Iran Publishes Play-by-Play on How to Defeat US, Destroy Israel

"REMINDER: We negotiated with these people"

Legal Insurrection
 iran palestine book cover

"Right on cue, Iran has proven just how woefully ignorant western powers are to the true motives of those pushing for controversial nuclear concessions.

"Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has released a 416 page book blasting the existence of a Jewish state and touting a plan to “reclaim Muslim lands.” “Palestine” labels the Holocaust “a propaganda ploy,” describes Israel as a “cancerous tumor,” and details how Khamenei believes Iran can bring about the end of both Israel, and the United States’ claim to global hegemony.

"The crux of Khamenei’s plan? The insane assertion that Israel has no right to exist as a state:
"He uses three words. One is “nabudi” which means “annihilation.” The other is “imha” which means “fading out,” and, finally, there is “zaval” meaning “effacement.”

"Khamenei claims that his strategy for the destruction of Israel is not based on anti-Semitism, which he describes as a European phenomenon. His position is instead based on “well-established Islamic principles.”

"One such principle is that a land that falls under Muslim rule, even briefly, can never again be ceded to non-Muslims. What matters in Islam is ownership of a land’s government, even if the majority of inhabitants are non-Muslims.

"Of course, Khamenei isn’t suggesting that he’ll simply push a button and sink Israel into the Mediterranean. Oh no—he’s planning on dragging this out in the worst way possible." . . .

From 2011: Why Obama Betrayed the Iranian People

Feckless: lacking initiative or strength of character; irresponsible:
In 2009, demonstrators filled the streets of Iran, denouncing the regime and crying out for freedom.  It was a glorious opportunity for the leader of the free world to demonstrate his support for free people everywhere and strike a decisive blow against the bloody regime that had considered itself at war with the United States for three decades.

"But Barack Obama didn't help them.  Quite the contrary.  The leader of the free world was too busy extending his hand to those same mullahs.

"It was monstrous when Obama stood by and did nothing during the abortive Iranian revolution; instead, he bought ice cream and posed for photo ops on the golf course while the only revolution against Islamic rule in a Muslim country was taking flight in Iran.
"History will not be kind to Obama for his siding with evil and brutally aggressive oppression over freedom."
Obama sided with the oppressors of these Iranians.

The Cop

"Darren Wilson was not indicted for shooting Michael Brown. Many people in Ferguson question whether justice was done." says this New Yorker writer.

Wilson hasn’t read the Justice Department’s report on systemic racism in Ferguson. “I’m not going to keep living in the past,” he said.New Yorker   "Darren Wilson, the former police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown, an eighteen-year-old African-American, in Ferguson, Missouri, has been living for several months on a nondescript dead-end street on the outskirts of St. Louis. Most of the nearby houses are clad in vinyl siding; there are no sidewalks, and few cars around. Wilson, who is twenty-nine, started receiving death threats not long after the incident, in which Brown was killed in the street shortly after robbing a convenience store. Although Wilson recently bought the house, his name is not on the deed, and only a few friends know where he lives. He and his wife, Barb, who is thirty-seven, and also a former Ferguson cop, rarely linger in the front yard. Because of such precautions, Wilson has been leading a very quiet life. During the past year, a series of police killings of African-Americans across the country has inspired grief, outrage, protest, and acrimonious debate. For many Americans, this discussion, though painful, has been essential. Wilson has tried, with some success, to block it out." . . .

In case you forgot, the big man on the left is who was shot by Officer Wilson.

Obama To Unveil ‘Biggest Step Ever’ In Climate Fight…

"Your electricity bill will necessarily sky rocket."
"Via Discovery"
. . .. The White House will release the final version of America’s Clean Power Plan, a set of environmental rules and regulations that will home in on the pollution from the nation’s power plants, setting limits on power-plant carbon emissions.. . .
"But even as natural gas gains in popularity, coal remains a key component in the American energy landscape.
"Hundreds of coal-fired power plants dotted across the country provide about 37 percent of the U.S. electricity supply, ahead of natural gas and nuclear reactors.

Sheikh Preaching Radical Islam to Young Children Gets Interrupted by Bold Bystander

 WZFWgW1438453241
The Federalist Papers  "The Middle East Media Research Institute posted a video of a sheikh preaching Islam to a bunch of little kids in Jerusalem during his so-called summer camp.
"When the video starts to make your heart hurt once you realize what horrible things the sheikh is teaching the impressionable children, an unexpected twist occurs.

"One man, who appeared to be a Muslim as well, didn’t appreciate the sheikh teaching the young kids about how to be a martyr and attain 70 virgins in paradise.
. . .
“ 'Shame on you,” the man continued, undeterred. “You can teach these lessons to [adults] like us, not to them.” "The woman then encouraged the children to yell a phrase which, translated to English, means, “We shall sacrifice our souls and our blood for you, Al-Aqsa!” The children also obediently and loudly obliged by repeatedly screaming the phrase.
"The onlooker continued to speak with the sheikh. “Look at these children! Look what you are planting in their minds,” he said.
"However, the sheikh waved the man away, telling him, “May Allah reward you,” to which the passerby responded, “Shame on you!” before walking away. The sheikh then continued to indoctrinate the children."

Be aware the man had no problem with the sheikh's teachings - only that he was teaching them to children.

Department of Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson says that the Islamic State wants to be viewed as Islamic, but they aren’t. (Video)
Even more disturbing (and once again, watch the video for yourself), Johnson says he can’t call Islamic terror “Islamic terror” out of deference to American Muslims because they won’t cooperate with homeland security efforts if he does. So the head of DHS believes American Muslims will stand by and watch their fellow Americans die in bomb blasts over a vocabulary dispute?

Why the Democrats Should Dump Hillary and Nominate Trump

(A 2012 Washington Post “fact check” reported that “Planned Parenthood does not perform mammograms or even possess the necessary equipment to do so. . . . Instead, its clinics provide referrals and direct low-income women toward resources to help pay for the procedure.”)

Clarice Feldman

. . ."Let’s be honest with ourselves. Hillary is tanking and we need to find a replacement. I know this sounds shocking -- and certainly you’ve been considering throwing your support behind Joe Biden -- but I think we should enlist Donald Trump as our nominee."
Let me explain.
We need Black voters and they like him.
They really like him. I know Hillary’s been doing her best to curry favor with Black voters, but it’s not working well and if she does more than what she’s done we can expect a rush to the exits by other voters.
Even if she could persuade some of the usual race baiters (excuse my bluntness but we need some plain talk), she cannot match the enthusiastic responses which twice put Obama over the top.
Despite what you might be reading in the papers -- you know the ones who earlier had been promoting Jeb and Hillary as inevitable -- Republicans are not really that crazy about Trump , and we can use this to get him to jump ship.

. . .
On the other hand, Trump seems to be far more likely to draw a great deal more Black support than Hillary:

But, more crucially, his stance on immigration would immeasurably benefit African-Americans. It is they who suffer when America does nothing to stem the tide of illegal aliens pouring over the border: it’s harder for them to get jobs, and wages are pushed down even further.

Normally what happens with sizeable immigrant populations is that existing groups start to move up the ladder: they become middle-class while the immigrants take low-paid and menial jobs. In LA, even in very black neighborhoods, the construction workers are all Latino.

Yet that upward ratchet doesn’t seem to be happening in the overwhelmingly Democratic-run black ghettoes so in flux in America today. Blacks aren’t benefitting from the Hispanic invasion: in fact, it’s making their lives even worse.

That Boss Who Set Minimum $70,000 Salaries for All Employees? Here’s How That’s Working Out So Far

The Blaze

Dan Price, after the big announcement in April. (Image source: New York Times screenshot)

. . . "Apart from the hit his own salary took — $1 million down to $70k — Price began renting out his house to help with his diminished income. He also had to hire a dozen new employees at much higher wages to handle new clients intrigued by his stance. And then some older clients backed out believing fee spikes were around the corner, while others walked away because they took Price’s announcement as political.

"More from the Times:
Two of Mr. Price’s most valued employees quit, spurred in part by their view that it was unfair to double the pay of some new hires while the longest-serving staff members got small or no raises. Some friends and associates in Seattle’s close-knit entrepreneurial network were also piqued that Mr. Price’s action made them look stingy in front of their own employees.. . .
The new pay scale also helped push Grant Moran, 29, Gravity’s web developer, to leave. “I had a lot of mixed emotions,” he said. His own salary was bumped up to $50,000 from $41,000 (the first stage of the raise), but the policy was nevertheless disconcerting. “Now the people who were just clocking in and out were making the same as me,” he complained. “It shackles high performers to less motivated team members.”

To Trump Disciples: You’re Embarrassing Conservatism and Yourselves

"Conservatives don’t need a blubbering, narcissistic nitwit making a mockery of their positions."

The Blaze   . . . "Please. I think it’s unseemly for a man to beg, so I’m not begging, but I’m as close to begging as you can get. I’m pleading. I’m imploring. I’m beseeching. I’m doing other things I could list if I had a thesaurus handy. I am strongly urging you to drop this Donald Trump nonsense. For your own good, friends. For the good of the planet. For the good of the universe itself. Just drop it.

"Donald Trump is a fraud. I’d call him a fool, but he’s worse than a fool; he’s a phony who makes fools out of other people. And, no, he’s not making fools out of liberals — trust me, they couldn’t be happier with the guy — he’s making one out of you." . . . Hat tip to Cindy ONeill, Pennsylvania

“Donald Trump: Poster Child of American Decline”

Donald Trump caricature.
Donald Trump caricature adapted from Gage Skidmore's flickr photostream by Donkey Hotey,

Robert Spencer
. . . "American politics has turned into an Oprah show of celebrity worship, lurid grandstanding, logorrheic superficiality, and tabloid scandalmongering.

"But Trump’s popularity is also a sign of how tired the American people are with the political establishment.

"It is the very fact that Trump is both blowhard and boor that, paradoxically enough, has catapulted him to the top of the polls. Americans are tired of mealy-mouthed career politicians talking platitudes. They want a real person as president — someone who is unafraid of the politically correct media establishment, and willing to take on the issues that most politicians don’t dare touch.

Donkey Hotey
"Trump has shown himself willing to do that regarding immigration. But his opposition to freedom of speech in the wake of our American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI)/Jihad Watch Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest in Garland, Texas — arguably motivated, as Pamela Geller recently showed, by his extensive business interests in Dubai — renders him unsuitable as a candidate." . . .
. . . Nonetheless, his Republican opponents would be well-advised to dispense with their focus groups and pollsters and carefully calibrated and professionally packaged presentations, and to begin talking squarely and honestly with the American people. It’s working for Trump, and it will, if they have any substance and any courage, work even better for a candidate with even a modicum of the decency, good grace, and intelligence that Donald Trump so obviously doesn’t have.
Trump's presidential bid draws scorn and bemusement in Europe
