Blowhard Obama Is Back to Stoke AI Fears

 J.B. Shurk

"If the Democrat Party takes control over AI, all the “politically correct” lies that run amok today will become cybernetic “truths.”  AI will tell us that some women have penises and that some men give birth."

"If you needed another reminder why this year’s midterm elections are so important, Barack Hussein Obama II is back to make the case: Democrats intend to seize control over artificial intelligence and shape it to their advantage.  The former president, who has refused to exit the political stage a decade after leaving office, wants his communist-curious comrades to scare voters about potential threats from AI in the final weeks of election season (Remember when we used to vote in person and tally all those votes in a single day?).

"Obama is a blowhard, but he knows how to tap into voter fears for maximum political leverage.  When he entered the White House, race relations between black and white Americans were at a historic high.  Obama enjoyed extremely high approval ratings because Republicans who voted against him hoped that his presidency would heal any remaining racial wounds.  Instead of embracing that goodwill and uniting Americans in common purpose, Obama and his attorney general wingman, Eric Holder, jumped at every opportunity to pour salt in those wounds.  Even though crime statistics proved otherwise, Obama and Holder insisted (with the help of a compliant news media) that law enforcement officers were abusing and murdering black Americans.  By the time his divide-and-conquer presidency came to an end, race relations between black and white Americans had deteriorated; Democrats were screaming, “Black lives matter!” and, “Defund the police!” in the streets; and domestic terrorists had assassinated numerous police officers across the country.  Obama used the imaginary problems of “systemic racism” and police brutality to stoke fears, resentments, and racial divisions.

"Obama has a long track record of inciting public fears and using those fears as political weapons.  His decision to start banging the apocalyptic drum over AI is no different.  Just as he inexcusably convinced half the nation that police officers were murdering black Americans, he is now working to convince voters that unregulated AI means certain doom.  Obama’s not against the technological reality of artificial intelligence; he just wants to make sure Democrats are in complete control of it." . . . More.

Lindsay Clancy ‘holdout hero’ breaks his silence on what really happened...

 Revolver News

"Sadly, this trial, which should have been about three precious children who were murdered before they ever had a chance to live, turned into a circus, thanks to a pack of wild-eyed feminists who turned Lindsay Clancy into their own hero and woman’s rights leader. It was truly the downfall of the entire feminist movement."

"The Lindsay Clancy trial ended with one hero holdout, who refused to vote for an acquittal. He believed Lindsay should be held criminally responsible for murdering her three children, and he didn’t change his position when the rest of the jury turned against him.

"Then, all the attention turned onto him.

"Other jurors began publicly discussing what happened during deliberations. Thanks to one pro-Clancy female juror, his identity as a black man started circulating online, and his personal history became part of the coverage. Questions about why he voted the way he did were piled high with an accusation that he hid a previous arrest so he could land in the jury box.

"Now, the man many are calling a “hero” has given his response to Fugitive TV host Ray Marcel. According to Marcel, he says he actually disclosed the arrest and answered questions before being selected. And he sets the record straight on his final vote.

He’s also describing what happened after his identity became public. Marcel reports that people have been approaching the juror’s home and relatives’ homes, leaving the family fearing for their lives.

"What began with a summons for jury duty has turned into a controversy that’s totally changed his family’s life. And now that he’s speaking out, we have a much better understanding of what happened in that jury room." . . . More.

Were Cavemen more civilized than Millennials?

 Intellectual Takeout

"Who is more civilized? The artist in the cave or homo-millennial in his dead-end life?"

"In a previous article for Intellectual Takeout, I commented on G. K. Chesterton’s complaint that the modern world’s perception of the so-called “Cave Man” was based on a supercilious prejudice, or what might be called a chronological snobbery, which was akin to racism. The stereotype that we’ve created for our Neolithic ancestor is of a brute, scarcely superior to a chimpanzee, who treated his wife with sadistic cruelty, killing her when he tired of her and finding himself a replacement “mate” whenever he felt like it.

"Insisting that we overcome this objectionable prejudice with a little scientific perusal of the actual objective evidence, Chesterton, writing in The Everlasting Man, suggested that it might be a good idea to take a look in the cave. “What was found in the cave,” Chesterton wrote, “was not the club, the horrible gory club notched with the number of women it had knocked on the head. The cave … was not filled with female skulls all arranged in rows and all cracked like eggs.” What was actually found in the cave was art, “drawings or paintings of animals,” which, Chesterton added, “were drawn or painted not only by a man but by an artist.”

"Our ancient ancestors studied the natural world and were inspired enough to paint it. While the animals grazed, men gazed. Unlike the creatures he observed, the Cave Man was not a slave to instinct. He was born to wonder and admire the things he saw. He looked up. He saw the stars and wondered what they were and what they signified. He lived up to the label that the Greeks would give him. He was anthropos. The one who looks up. This was what separated him from all other creatures. He was a philosopher, a storyteller, a worshipper of the supernatural, and, last but not least, an artist.

"Compare him to homo millennial, that peculiar creature who has only emerged in the past decade or so. Homo millennial never looks up. His eyes are fixed on the screen in front of him or the screen he holds. He spends all of his time in a cave, probably a basement, in a room in which the light of day, if it penetrates at all, is studiously ignored. He does not wonder at the magnificence and majesty of the stars because he never looks at them." . . .  More.

Sydney Sweeney Is Setting Women’s Sports Back, But Not How You Think

The American Spectator | USA News and Politics

. . . "About 1000 words in, with lots more to say,  I realized I was on track to write a book rather than a column and I needed to stop. Find a more succinct take on that controversy here. So I settled on this latest Sydney Sweeney kerfuffle."

Regarding the Sydney Sweeney ad, the left used to like coyly selective nudity - American Thinker

"It turns out I have my pick of stupid controversies to weigh in on this week. I actually started this column off with the idea that I’d dive into the fracas surrounding University of Texas quarterback Arch Manning, who found himself beset by the harpies of sports media over the fact that he confessed to finding humor in an off-color and absurd AI meme on Tuesday. About 1000 words in, with lots more to say, I realized I was on track to write a book rather than a column and I needed to stop. Find a more succinct take on that controversy here.

So I settled on this latest Sydney Sweeney kerfuffle." . . .

. . . "The people throwing a fit over Sydney Sweeney’s buxom, er, personality gracing a sports betting ad and aggrandizing themselves as the gatekeepers for what women in sports can and should be might want to take a beat and think things through.

"Because you’re going to want to avoid irritating the target market for Novig’s ad. Alienate those people, and you will find the small audience for your athletic endeavors has shrunk even more.

"Especially when female athletes posing nude, or nearly so, as a way to promote their own personal brands is something that has gone on since before Sydney Sweeney was around. At whom do you think those covers of ESPN the Magazine or Sports Illustrated were aimed, after all?

"Becoming a joyless scold at Sydney Sweeney’s intrusion into this space has the effect of telling those men — a big chunk of the audience you have, after all — who they can look at and who they can’t. What makes you so sure they’ll choose you instead of her?

"I don’t have numbers to back this, but it’s my sense that there are more men interested in women’s sports because they get a thrill out of watching hot, athletic women play golf or tennis or basketball than there are women watching, or men who appreciate the quality of play.

"And if I’m right about this, then the real pushback against Sydney Sweeney is that she’s horning in on their action. I don’t know that this gives them the high ground.

"I especially don’t know where female athletes get the idea they somehow are the gatekeepers when it comes to sex appeal and men’s sports people bet on.

"Continue pushing this, and don’t be surprised when lots of people roll their eyes and say “I’m done.” And support for women’s athletics begins to wane, because who wants to further empower a class of whiny, screeching, and scoldy feminists who insist on equality right up to the point where the price has to be paid for it?. (RELATED: Feminism, the Nose-Ring Theory, and Our Potential Extinction)   More.

Regarding the Sydney Sweeney ad, the left used to like coyly selective nudity

"The left’s newest source of outrage is a cheeky (literally) ad that Sydney Sweeney did for Novig, a sports betting app. How dare Sweeney sexualize women in sports? But of course, the feminists’ problem isn’t sexualizing women, whether in sports or out; it’s that Sydney Sweeney refuses to play the woke game by politicizing everything. Instead, she uses her sexuality for entertainment like a wholesome 1950s sex goddess, not like an in-your-face woke lesbian athlete.  It all began with Sweeney’s “good genes” ad for American Eagle, which was hugely successful, but that Democrats insisted was an ad for white supremacy:" . .  .  More.

The Two-State Solution Is Dead — President Trump won’t tolerate this. To him it is obvious that recognizing Palestine is a reward for terror.

"Britain and Europe push Palestinian statehood despite October 7, Palestinian rejectionism, and the grave security risks it would pose to Israel." (By means of the western left.)

The American Spectator | USA News and Politics

"Boiling blood indeed: the authors write that “October 7 was neither uniquely Hamas nor distinctively Islamist. It was Palestinian through and through.'”

Bob Englehart

"Did the Palestinians groan for a state? Did they plead to be lifted from the dung heap and raised from the dust? No. What they did was celebrate every watershed atrocity from 9/11 to Oct 7.

"Enigmas do come wrapped in mysteries. But really. First the United Kingdom, along with countries of that provoking sort, recognized pie in the sky “Palestine” as a country. Now a member of Britain’s government has punished Israel for aborting the newly born Palestine.

"So what’s it to be — real or unreal?

"Recognizing a country with no borders, no elected government, no economy, and no way of standing on its own feet was manic to begin with. Now the European Union’s foreign minister compounds the enigma by calling on member countries to join Britain’s trade ban on Jewish communities in what they call the  “West Bank” and Israel, keeping the name from Roman rule, calls “Judea and Samaria.”

"And that is where things stand with the creaky “Two-State Solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. With plans to construct new settlements in area E1 (to complicate name calling) Israel has given the West a new excuse to boycott the Jews and Palestinians new impetus for the brutal violence that always defined their identity.

"But this grim yet ironic picture conceals the real kicker. Ever since Israel’s own 9\11 — the Oct 7 atrocity — Israelis can’t stomach the Two State Solution. And thus join the Palestinian Arabs who never could stomach the concept.

"It is entirely fair to say that Israel tried and retried the peace process route to a Palestinian state which the world believes will solve the conflict. No go. Essentially it remains in 2026 what it was in 1947: the Jews said Yes and the Arabs said No.

"It is undeniable that Arab blood boils at the very thought of two states living side by side in harmony.

"No one would know that better than Hussein Agha and Robert Malley. The book Tomorrow is Yesterday: Life, Death, and the Pursuit of Peace in Israel/Palestine tells about their decades of effort, singly and together, promoting Palestinian statehood." . . . More.

Hamas in Its Own Words | ADL

Does Cory Booker practice his rabid face in front of a mirror?

92-Year-Old Grassley Has Enough of Young Whippersnapper Cory Booker: 'Are You Ready to Shut Up?'

Booker had gone full-on Hamlet monologue mode, frothing at the mouth and emoting and performing with all his heart as he personally attacked the FBI director with innuendo and insinuation. You could tell he thought he was killing it in the above nearly four and a half minute clip, but Grassley was obviously embarrassed that this guy is a sitting United States senator, because he’d probably be cut from his local community theater program for overacting.

Booker suffers from a rare disability eye doctors call: “Insane Eye Balls” or IEB. “It’s when the brain is so corrupted the eye balls actually try to escape directly through the sockets,” Dr. Simons explained. “In extreme cases, like with Booker, the eye balls become so desperate they can easily break glass.”

Give Us a Monopoly or Everyone Dies!

Ann Coulter

"At least those demands were direct: Don’t let anyone compete with us. But all regulation imposes costs that are going to be harder for startups to bear."

"Does Artificial Intelligence pose a threat to humanity? Absolutely! But only assuming humanity is defined as “the billionaire owners of A.I. companies intent on crushing their competition.” [Ed: I don’t think that’s the definition.]
"You don’t need to be a super smart A.I. machine to know that large corporations love government regulation. Compliance is a fixed cost for them, but often an insuperable barrier to new entrants. Regulations allow the incumbents to maintain their market dominance by blocking up-and-coming rivals.
"University of Chicago Economist George Stigler won a Nobel Prize for pointing this out fifty years ago. It wasn’t just a theory. Stigler’s argument has been demonstrated over and over again. In fact, it seems so obvious, I’m not sure he even deserved a prize. But people probably think the same thing about gravity, our heliocentric world, or selling books over the Internet. Today, those seem obvious, too.
"As Stigler said, regulation is fantastic for oligopolists, and also great for the politicians they buy. It’s only a disaster for consumers. That is precisely why these unwarranted gifts to greedy companies are always preceded by florid scaremongering.
"From 1938 to 1978, existing airlines warned that allowing others to compete with them would cause planes to fall out of the sky. The industry would be under so much pressure to offer low prices, they would sacrifice safety to cost-cutting. In fact, since deregulation, not only is flying a lot cheaper, but fatal plane crashes have declined exponentially.
Licensed taxi drivers predicted that ride-share companies like Uber would be a “sexual haven for predators.” Getting into an Uber would be like “swimming in a sea full of sharks—one day you are going to get bitten.” They lost, which is why today it’s possible to ride in a car that doesn’t reek of curry and body odor and to end up with a driver capable of finding Grand Central Station.
"At least those demands were direct: Don’t let anyone compete with us. But all regulation imposes costs that are going to be harder for startups to bear.
"Philip Morris lobbied heavily for The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, which prohibited cigarette companies from offering branded merchandise, free samples, or putting up billboards—i.e., all the marketing tools that might have allowed newcomers to break into the business.
"This had absolutely nothing to do with Philip Morris wanting to lock up its undisputed 50% share of the tobacco market. I don’t even know why the law became known as the “Marlboro Monopoly Act.” It was for the children!" . . .

. . . "And once AI is “regulated,” it’ll be the legacy incumbent AI players who dominate the market in collusion with the government. Just like the automotive industry, and practically every other former center of capitalist innovation.
"President Trump is railing against these people. He’s correct to. This is such a nakedly corrupt play that it stings the nostrils. Let’s just hope the public is wise enough to see it after everything we’ve been through that it falls flat."

Protect the public by releasing 3,500 violent criminals.

Roy Cooper Released Thousands of Violent Criminals and Claimed Doing So Was About 'Public Safety'

"Public safety means keeping violent, dangerous criminals behind bars where they cannot hurt innocent people. Roy Cooper failed to do that, and he wants to take his pro-criminal policies to the U.S. Senate."

That worked so well over the border in South Carolina.

"During his tenure, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper freed thousands of violent criminals including murderers, rapists, and child predators. Many of those criminals went on to reoffend, including Tyrell Brace who killed 23-year-old Elante' Thompson and Brandy Kachelle Wilson, who stabbed 36-year-old Scott Stroup to death after her release.

"Cooper also vetoed legislation that would have required North Carolina Sheriffs to cooperate with ICE. Because of that, Fletcher Harris and Skylar Provenza are dead. They were killed by illegal alien Juan Alvarado Aguilar, who also had a lengthy criminal record when he hit the car in which Harris and Provenza were traveling. Harris was 20 years old; Provenza was 19.

"With the election nearing and polls showing Michael Watley gaining on Cooper, Cooper is now trying to frame his soft-on-crime record as a public-safety issue. That's what Cooper is saying now of his decision to release thousands of murderers." . . . More.

Philly DA Larry Krasner, Who Threatened to Jail ICE Agents, Slapped With DOJ Criminal Referral

"Krasner is a left-wing nutjob who pushes soft-on-crime, pro-criminal policies. He even threatened to jail federal immigration officers because he’s opposed to President Trump’s deportation agenda. He’s a self-described progressive prosecutor, which should be an oxymoron. His lack of candor and professionalism has been documented.

George Soros-backed Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner referred for DOJ probe

"A Philadelphia federal judge referred the City of Brotherly Love’s George Soros-backed District Attorney Larry Krasner to the Justice Department Tuesday for investigation into whether he violated the law while trying to protect the reputation of his top underling."

Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Leaders Meet to Plot Break-Up of the United Kingdom

 The Daily Sceptic

"All three parties will agree that their nations should be in the EU, Scotland and Wales as new members and Northern Ireland as part of the Republic of Ireland."

Great Britain Maps

"The leaders of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are set to gather on Monday to sign a deal aimed at kick-starting the break-up of the United Kingdom. The Telegraph has the story:

At an unprecedented summit in Cardiff, the three first ministers will put pen to paper on a joint declaration demanding the right to hold independence referendums.

The meeting comes after Andy Burnham suggested to MPs that he would authorise another Scottish referendum if there were a “clear consensus” in favour of one. …

John Swinney, the SNP leader and Scottish First Minister, claimed Mr Burnham was “facing up to the idea that he will go down in history as the final prime minister of the United Kingdom”.

Labour’s rout in Wales at May’s elections means there are now pro-independence parties in power in all three devolved nations for the first time.

Plaid Cymru surged to become the largest party in the Cardiff Senedd, with Rhun ap Iowerth, its leader, taking over as the country’s First Minister.

Meanwhile, the SNP fortified its position as the dominant power in Scotland, despite losing six Holyrood seats as Reform and the Greens made gains.

Sinn Fein won the Stormont elections in 2022, though a walkout by the DUP meant that Michelle O’Neill had to wait until 2024 to become First Minister. Sinn Fein is widely expected to hold on to power when the nation votes again next year." . . .

"Ed Sheeran's tour of North and South America was plunged into chaos Tuesday"

"The moves by his fellow artists put enormous pressure on Sheeran, who has tried to avoid politics and taking a side in the Gaza conflict, arguing that his fans don't come to his shows to hear politics.

Ed Sheeran's tour in trouble after opening acts drop out : NPR   . . . "Ed Sheeran's tour of North and South America was plunged into chaos Tuesday when four of his supporting acts abruptly quit in solidarity with the rapper Macklemore, who was dropped for making pro-Palestinian comments onstage.

Hours after Sheeran posted on social media about Macklemore's ouster and attributed the decision to the tour's promoters, Irish acts Aaron Rowe and Beoga, the Danish band Lukas Graham, and Finneas posted on Instagram that they were leaving the tour.

Rowe and Lukas Graham would have been replacements for Macklemore on Sheeran's remaining U.S. dates, while Beoga had been performing several songs — including some the Irish folk band co-wrote — with Sheeran around the middle of each set. Finneas, who is Billie Eilish's brother and musical collaborator, was due to tour with Sheeran in South America later this year.

"Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed," Finneas said on Instagram. "I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people."

Assemblyman Warns the 'Free State of California' Is Laying Groundwork for Gas Appliance Ban

California Restaurant Association says Berkeley will halt ban on natural gas piping in new buildings | AP News

"The city of Berkeley, California, has agreed to halt enforcement of a ban on natural gas piping in new homes and buildings that was successfully opposed in court by the California Restaurant Association, the organization said.
"The settlement follows the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ refusal to reconsider a 2023 ruling that the ban violates federal law that gives the U.S. government the authority to set energy-efficiency standards for appliances, the association said in a statement last week.
"“While the Ninth Circuit’s ruling renders this particular ordinance unenforceable, Berkeley will continue to be a leader in climate action,” Berkeley City Attorney Farimah Faiz Brown said in an email to The Associated Press.
"The restaurant association said Berkeley agreed to settle the case by taking steps to repeal its ordinance, but because the process will take several months, the city will immediately stop enforcing the ban to comply with the court ruling.
"In 2019, Berkeley became the first U.S. city to adopt a ban on natural gas in new homes and buildings, starting a climate change-driven move in many other cities and counties that morphed into a culture war over the future of gas stoves..
"The California Restaurant Association filed suit in federal court to overturn Berkeley’s ban."

Assemblyman Warns the 'Free State of California' Is Laying Groundwork for Gas Appliance Ban

"Not long ago, California Gov. Gavin Newsom touted his state as "free" in a failed attempt to attack the Trump administration. California is anything but free, of course. Newsom has been handed multiple losses in courts over unconstitutional laws that violate Californians' right to free speech and guns, he's poised to sign more unconstitutional legislation that would unfairly punish federal ICE agents and bar them from state jobs, and Democrats in Sacramento want to limit what sort of tires you can buy for your car, which they're also imposing a mileage tax on.

"Free."

"Sure, Gavin.

"The state is also on the brink of banning all natural gas appliances in the state, in every single home. This will cost the average California homeowner tens of thousands of dollars to remove gas connections and install electric. On a grid that's notoriously unreliable anyway. Imagine not being able to cook during rolling brownouts.

"Carl DeMaio, a member of the state assembly, is sounding the alarm." . . .

Parody*: Sydney Sweeney Tries To Gain Support Of Liberal Women By Murdering Multiple Children

* Labelled for those who need instructions on their shampoo bottles. TD

Babylon Bee

LOS ANGELES, CA — Scandal struck Hollywood this week, as actress and businesswoman Sydney Sweeney attempted to gain support among liberal women by murdering multiple children.
"After facing increasing backlash from progressive women due to her overtly sexualized public image, Sweeney opted to curry their favor by engaging in one of the activities they are most passionate about, namely child murder.
'"It's a gruesome way to do it," Sweeney admitted. "But I really want them to like me, and that seems to be what they're really into. I feel bad doing it, but I need to capture every demographic I can."
"Following news of the killings, liberal women flocked to Sweeney's website to buy clothes and lingerie and started following the actress on social media.
""I didn't like that she coded sort of right-wing," leftist Clarissa Maloy said. "But when I found out she murdered some kids, I realized the two of us probably have a lot in common."
"Sweeney came under fire this week after she posed in the nude for an online advertising campaign, prompting critics to rail on the actress for supposedly objectifying women.
"'We can get behind women who murder their own kids but not behind women who show their bodies to the world," Maloy explained.
"At publishing time, liberal women had announced that they were withdrawing their support from Sweeney after reports surfaced that she had lied about killing any kids."

The Left Is Having a Meltdown Over Sydney Sweeney Again

"Oh my god, everyone, shut up. It was an ad, and she was naked in it. Given the Left’s tolerance for depravity, which has now seeped into child murder, why is everyone guffawing over Sydney Sweeney’s ad for Novig, a sports-betting app? I was going to write about this as a joke, but I decided to shelve it. Now, stupid white liberal women are whining about it, as they did with Sweeney’s jeans ad for American Eagle, so here we go again." . . .
