What's Going on Near Plano, TX? Former Detective Introduces Us to 'EPIC City'

Break out the "racism"accusations. My first encounter with Muslim no-go zones was in Toulon, France where we were warned to stay out of the area known as The Sullies, where non Muslims had been killed. Shore patrol was stationed at the entrance streets to keep us Americans out.

RedState

"In Europe, the result of the refusal to assimilate into a country's culture by many Muslim immigrants is on full display. "No-go zones," in predominantly Muslim areas that are openly hostile to the natural-born citizens of a country, especially Jewish citizens, are well documented across Europe. If this is happening in Texas, it can happen elsewhere in the U.S."

"We have heard it time and again: America is a nation of immigrants. We pride ourselves on the fact that millions of people from all over the world have seen America, as Ronald Reagan said, as the "shining city on a hill," the place where they could find a better life for themselves and their families. But something is happening. The immigrants of the last century came to America because they wanted to assimilate into American culture. They wanted to become Americans. Now, there is no such intention. And in one case, isolation, not assimilation, appears to be the goal.

"On Sunday night, Fox News Host Mark Levin, on his show "Life, Liberty, and Levin," had on as his guest former Plano, Texas detective, now private investigator Douglas Deaton. Deaton came on to tell Levin about a very curious proposal that could happen in Plano. The proposal is for a massive 400-plus acre development called "EPIC City." What's the problem with EPIC City? Potentially, a lot.

"For starters, the "EPIC" in EPIC City is an acronym that stands for "East Plano Islamic Center." Deaton explained that the Center is already in existence. There are already some 74 single-family homes near a large mosque in East Plano, a suburb of Dallas. The proposal is for a massive 402-acre expansion of the site, which would contain around 1,000 homes and other mixed-use developments. However, the fear is that the true nature of this site is for it to become an exclusive Muslim-only community. Deaton went on to say that this fear has been brought about by the development's own promotional materials.

"But an even bigger problem than the massive growth of the site is talk that the idea behind EPIC City would be a Sharia law-only community. Deaton says that those behind the Islamic Center deny that both publicly and through attorneys. However, EPIC is working with something called the UIF Corporation, which has on its website a Sharia-compliant Supervisory Board. UIF also has an office at the current Islamic Center. It gets better; a past UIF Corporation president is a co-founder of the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research, which Deaton describes as "very, very serious about making sure that Sharia has a seat at the table when it comes to reimagining Islam in the West.' " . . .

No Go Zones: How Sharia Law Is Coming to a Neighborhood Near You:  "No Go Zones. That's what they're called. And while the politically correct try to deny their existence, the shocking reality of these "No Go Zones"—where Sharia law can prevail and local police stay away—can be attested to by its many victims.

"Now Raheem Kassam, a courageous reporter and editor at Breitbart, takes us where few journalists have dared to tread—inside the No Go Zones, revealing areas that Western governments, including the United States, don't want to admit exist within their own borders.

"With compelling reporting, Kassam takes you into Islamic areas you might not even know existed—communities, neighborhoods, and whole city districts from San Bernardino, California, (a No Go Zone of the mind) to Hamtramck, Michigan (essentially an Islamic colony in the Midwest); from Malmö, Sweden, to the heart of London, England—where infidels are unwelcome, Islamic law is king, and extremism grows.

"In
No Go Zones, Kassam reveals:

  • How in No Go Zones a blind eye is being turned to polygamy, female genital mutilation, sexual assault, segregation, and even honor killings
  • Why Muslim ghettos in the West aren't the equivalent of Little Italy or Chinatown, but a serious cultural and political threat
  • How the welfare state actually funds and supports a Muslim subculture of resentment
  • How to identify extremist mosques
  • A matter of numbers: how mass migration could transform Europe into a Muslim-dominated continent within our own lifetimes
  • The alarming speed at which No Go Zones are coming to America

"Compelling in its reporting, shocking in its detail, Raheem Kassam's No Go Zones is one of the most frightening true stories you will read this year."

Cornyn asks DOJ to investigate whether proposed Muslim-focused community violates federal law    "Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) is asking the Department of Justice to open a civil rights investigation into a proposed Muslim-focused community development in Josephine, Texas.

"In a letter to the Justice Department sent Friday, Cornyn asked the agency to investigate whether the community, which would cater to Texas’s Muslim population, would violate the constitutional rights of Jewish and Christian residents by prohibiting them from living in the community and discriminating against them." . . .  Sadly, the full article is behind a paywall.

DOJ to investigate Texas Muslim-led development as antisemitic and anti-Christian

I see the place becoming a great, big Ivy League campus; Judenrein. In 1960, I experienced this in Toulon, France where we were told the area, then called "The Sullies" was a Muslin no-go zone with shore patrol guarding the entrance streets. Apparently non-Muslims tend to be killed in that area and those trendy Palestinian scarves are not knife-resistant. TD

Angie Orellana Hernandez

Cornyn wrote to the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division on April 11 requesting an additional investigation into the project that he said was an "exclusive religious settlement" governed by "Islamic principles."

"Texas Republicans claim the development would impose Islamic law on residents"

"The Justice Department will investigate whether a planned real estate development around one of North Texas's largest mosques violates federal law, Sen. John Cornyn (R) said Friday after weeks of calling the project antisemitic and anti-Christian.

"Attacks over the development outside Dallas have been amplified by Cornyn, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), Gov. Greg Abbott and right-wing bloggers who baselessly claim it would create a Muslim-only community and impose Islamic law on residents.

"Leaders for the East Plano Islamic Center, the mosque that is backing the project dubbed EPIC City, have repeatedly denied the accusations and called the attacks on their planned development Islamophobic. If built, EPIC City would span about 400 acres and create housing, day care facilities, medical clinics and schools, according to marketing material.

" 'I am grateful to Attorney General Bondi and the Department of Justice for hearing my concerns and opening an investigation," Cornyn said in a statement. "Religious discrimination and Sharia Law have no place in the Lone Star State. Any violations of federal law must be swiftly prosecuted, and I know under the Trump administration, they will be."

"Dan Cogdell, an attorney for EPIC City, said the development would cooperate with the federal investigation, noting that the Muslim community behind the project had nothing to hide.

" 'From day one, their intention was to comply completely and wholeheartedly with the law," said Cogdell, who defended Paxton during the Republican firebrand's 2023 impeachment trial. "And they've just been vilified, assailed and attacked."

"Cogdell added, "What is crazy to me is how far we haven't come since 9/11. The words 'mosque,' 'Islam,' 'Muslim' in the year of our Lord 2025 are still such a triggering event."

"The Justice Department did not respond to a request for comment.

"EPIC City was announced about a year ago, according to its social media pages. Developers said they would use empty land in Josephine, Texas, northeast of Dallas, to build a "vibrant, multigenerational, and inclusive master planned community."

"As EPIC City was selling shares and building out its plans, none of which featured materials that required residents to be Muslim, an uproar by conservatives overshadowed the project. Cogdell said the first incidents came from right-wing accounts on X, which caught the attention of senior Republican leaders in Texas." . . .

"Will we have to wait another decade to decry what the jihadists have accomplished, or will we stop their depredations once and for all?"

And we in Texas were worried about Californians taking over Texas!

Eileen F. Toplansky

"Islam’s modus operandi is as follows: when Muslims are in a minority in countries to which they have migrated they claim Islam is a religion of peace. Once their numbers increase they start to agitate for considerations unavailable to non-Muslims in those countries under the guise of obtaining civil liberties. When they gain power it’s, “Do as we say or we will kill you.” That is how a country loses its culture, its values and its traditions."

. . ."The Islamic takeover of America has been steadily proceeding.  It is now accelerating in Texas.  EPIC City in Plano, Texas is, in essence, America’s “No-Go Zone.”  In fact, “it is an already-functioning Sharia-based parallel society inside Texas.  Sharia-based finance and governance are at the core of the site.”

"Consequently,

the developments surrounding EPIC City mirror patterns observed in parts of Europe. Such initiatives resemble those seen in areas like France, particularly around Paris, where the lack of assimilation has led to societal fracture lines Europe is now collapsing under.

"Moreover,

Allies of Islam
newly surfaced promotional videos reveal that a Christian church in the Dallas suburb of Rowlett has been converted into a mosque by the Islamic Center of Rowlett. The building, purchased for $2.2 million, is now being repurposed into
a full-scale Islamic center and madrasa. To raise funds for the purchase, the mosque enlisted Siraj Wahhaj, a controversial imam who was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

"Moreover, “Muslim leaders themselves now identify Texas as one of the most desirable destinations for Hijrah—the religious migration commanded by Islamic tradition to spread Islam and establish its influence. And they’re not hiding that ambition. On social media, in fundraising campaigns, and in mosque programming, they openly describe Texas as fertile ground for Islamic growth.”  See also here.

All this is being done quite deliberately.  “This is not about religious freedom — it is
Useful idiots
about strategic replacement.”  There is a “calculated precision often under the guise of a moderate intellectual façade.”  But the ulterior motive is to mobilize the Muslim community for territorial and ideological expansion.  America must become sharia-compliant.  Coupled with this is election jihad, which shows how “thoroughly Islamists have infiltrated our political system and the threat that they pose.”living in the area at that time.  And, he asked, “where is all this money coming from?”  . . .

TEXAS Mayor gives radical mosque leaders special access to school board to ensure enforcement of so-called “Islamic values”

A newly surfaced video reveals Plano Mayor John B. Muns offering the radical fundamentalist East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) special access to public school officials—exposing once again how this mosque has transformed from a religious institution into a powerful political force shaping education, demographics, and public policy in Texas.

Planned East Plano Community Rebranded The Meadow, County Says

Tests such as this should manifest how deep is Gen Z's contempt for our nation and its founding. Given the educators among the radicals in the streets, one must fear for America. The Tunnel Dweller.

 Prism News

"Officials and local reporting said the development long known as EPIC City was rebranded as The Meadow, and developers may pursue filings that could move the project forward. The change matters to Collin County residents because the 402 acre proposal would add homes, a mosque, a school and commercial space in unincorporated Collin and Hunt counties, bringing potential impacts on infrastructure, services and local governance."
"County leaders and local outlets reported on November 20 that the large planned community associated with the East Plano Islamic Center has been renamed The Meadow. Collin County Judge Chris Hill posted updates indicating developers Community Capital Partners, known as CCP, may file applications with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for a municipal utility district and could submit plats to the county, steps that would begin formal county review and approval processes.
"The site covers roughly 402 acres spanning unincorporated areas of Collin and Hunt counties. Plans tied to the project have included residential neighborhoods, a mosque, an educational campus and commercial areas, defining it as a mixed use development with both civic and private components. Local reporting has noted the project generated controversy during earlier stages, and as of the November 20 update no final county filings were publicly available." . . .  More...

What to know about the 'Sharia city' development planned in Texas

. . . "Unlike more overt extremists, Qadhi operates with calculated precision, presenting a moderate, intellectual facade while actively mobilizing the Muslim community for territorial and ideological expansion. However, throughout the years, his mask has slipped on several occasions, exposing his true agenda. In rare moments of candor, he has openly declared democracy incompatible with Islam, refused to condemn terrorist groups like Hamas, and preached that Islamic law—not Western governance—should dictate every aspect of life. These moments provide a rare glimpse into the real Yasir Qadhi, a man whose ultimate goal is the systematic transformation of American society under Sharia." . . .
"Texas has become the testing ground for Qadhi’s long-term strategy, and Republican leaders have remained alarmingly silent. While other states, such as Michigan and Minnesota, have garnered media attention for their rising Islamic populations, Texas has largely been overlooked despite being home to one of the most well-organized Islamic expansion efforts in the country."   . . .  More...
In my own experience from 1960 Toulon, France, an Islamic area of the city we pronounced "The Sullies" were declared a No-Go area and it's entry streets were blocked by shore patrol. We were told of non Muslims entering and being murdered.

. . . "Muslim enclaves in European cities are also breeding grounds for Islamic radicalism and pose a significant threat to Western security."
  • A 120-page research paper entitled "No-Go Zones in the French Republic: Myth or Reality?" documented dozens of French neighborhoods "where police and gendarmerie cannot enforce the Republican order or even enter without risking confrontation, projectiles, or even fatal shootings."

  • In October 2011, a 2,200-page report, "Banlieue de la République" (Suburbs of the Republic) found that Seine-Saint-Denis and other Parisian suburbs are becoming "separate Islamic societies" cut off from the French state and where Islamic Sharia law is rapidly displacing French civil law.

  • The report also showed how the problem is being exacerbated by radical Muslim preachers who are promoting the social marginalization of Muslim immigrants in order to create a parallel Muslim society in France that is ruled by Sharia law." . . .

"The Hungarian presenter then asks: "What if we went to the suburbs?" Obertone replies: "I do not recommend this. Not even we French dare go there anymore. But nobody talks about this in public, of course. Nor do those who claim, 'long live multiculturalism,' and 'Paris is wonderful!' dare enter the suburbs.' Immobilize the Mamifada

 Ann Coulter

People who care what happens to New York City — which apparently does not include Cuomo and Sliwa or they wouldn’t need to be asked — have got to pressure the two spoilers to suspend their campaigns and endorse Adams.

"In New York City’s Democratic primary for mayor last week, Andrew Cuomo, the former governor, son of a former governor, once married to a Kennedy (that’s admirable in Democrat circles), lost to the preposterous creature, Zohran Mamdani, who promises government-run grocery stores, free child care, free buses and other great ideas that made the Soviet Union the powerhouse economy that it was — not counting those 70 years of bad weather.
"Mamdani calls himself a socialist, but that’s like Lia Thomas calling himself a woman. Socialism evokes nice Scandinavian countries, like Sweden. Except even Sweden doesn’t have government-run grocery stores, free child care and free buses. Sweden doesn’t proclaim — as Mamdani does — that the “end goal” is “seizing the means of production.” (And by the way, Sweden’s gentle socialism hasn’t been working quite so well ever since 800,000 people who look like Mamdani moved in.)
"Why can’t we call a communist a communist? The word is treated as a meaningless slur used only by right-wing kooks. It is a slur, but when a candidate is lobbying for seizing the means of production and pushing for government-run breadlines, it’s anything but meaningless. Does Mamdani have to be holding a copy of “The Communist Manifesto” for us to call him one?
"But why dwell on the negative? We’ll get back to Zohran. First, let’s take a moment to enjoy the good news: Cuomo is finished. He’s so far down the Anthony Weiner Highway, all that’s left is some dick pics being sent to teenage girls.
"Like a Shakespeare play, there’s something for everyone in former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s epic defeat. So many reasons to hate him, so little column space!
"There was his grandstanding idiocy as head of Clinton’s Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he pressured banks to take big risks in order to issue more mortgages to minorities. This was a crucial first step toward the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis that wrecked the economy, wrecked Lehman Brothers, wrecked Bear Stearns, and wrecked countless neighborhoods abandoned due to underwater mortgages.
"And let’s not forget the millions of New Yorkers cowering in their homes today, unable to leave after dark, take the subway or enjoy public parks, thanks to the no-bail law Cuomo pushed through in 2019. As Democrats were about to take control of both houses of the legislature for the first time since 1964, Cuomo announced that one of his top priorities would be to release violent criminals immediately after their arrest, without their having to spend a night in jail. Good to get them right back to menacing innocent taxpayers.
"His argument was that people were being put in jail “for the crime of being poor.” Yes, it seems that only the rich could afford to pay bail after knifing bodega owners, pushing New Yorkers in front of oncoming trains, sodomizing grandmothers, etc. Despite Cuomo’s no-bail law turning the city into a McDonald’s Play Place for criminals, he never questioned it, much less apologized.
"Cuomo’s indifference to public safety could have been because he was so busy killing thousands of nursing home residents — in addition to killing businesses, careers, childhoods and entire industries — with his disastrous COVID policies." . . .
Naturally, therefore, Fox News is encouraging people to waste their votes on him, splitting the non-lunatic vote. Since Mamdani’s primary win, Fox has promoted Sliwa in several flattering, primetime interviews.

The Pope’s Pitiful Reign of Error

The American Spectator
. . . Whatever the future of Islam, at least Muslims have enough regard for God to keep Mecca and Medina from turning into Touristville. Not so for FrancisChurch, which is hastening the death of Catholicism by self-indulgence, if not suicide.

"I arrived in Rome this week in anticipation of another defining liberal moment of this pontificate: the Pan-Amazon Synod, Pope Francis’ latest pretext to fiddle with Catholic discipline and doctrine. I haven’t been to the Vatican in some years. It was hardly a golden age under Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI, but at least back then Vatican City had recognizably Catholic features. Now it looks like the United Nations Plaza.

"As I walked down the hill to the Vatican, from the convent turned inn where I am staying, I noticed graffiti about “comrades” on the walls surrounding it — walls, by the way, far more imposing than Trump’s. One would have to be a criminal with Olympian talents to scale them. Yet what’s the first sculpture one encounters in St. Peter’s Square? A depiction of illegal immigrants, unveiled recently by Pope Francis. The immigrants are huddled together on a kind of ark — certainly not Noah’s, for the sculpture contains almost no religious content, though some interpret a Hasidic Jewish couple on board as Joseph and Mary. The sculpture looks completely out of place, plopped randomly near the arms of Bernini, which now appear more like the forearm of George Soros."
. . .
"One small example of FrancisChurch’s death wish is the ubiquity of a gay calendar sold in tourist shops throughout the city featuring handsome priests, some in suggestive poses. Women no doubt buy the calendar, but one suspects its primary consumers are the bishops, vocation directors, and clerical colleagues of these priests. I don’t know what is more depressing about the calendar: that the priests would voluntarily pose for it, or that their superiors are likely to buy it. In any case, it is a hideous illustration of a gayed-up religion, screwing around while the Church collapses under the weight of a gay pederasty scandal of epic proportions." . . .

Updated: God uses this American President to Fulfill Prophecies and Move Our Embassy to Jerusalem.

Apparently not so much the man but the time. TD

May 14, 1948 State of Israel proclaimed  "On May 14, 1948, in Tel Aviv, Jewish Agency Chairman David Ben-Gurion proclaims the State of Israel, establishing the first Jewish state in 2,000 years. In an afternoon ceremony at the Tel Aviv Art Museum, Ben-Gurion pronounced the words “We hereby proclaim the establishment of the Jewish state in Palestine, to be called Israel,” prompting applause and tears from the crowd gathered at the museum. Ben-Gurion became Israel’s first premier." . . .

Rabbi Aryeh Spero
"The U.S. embassy will move to Jerusalem, May, 14, 2018, 70 years after the founding of Israel, resurrected as the Jewish state, in May, 1948. Seventy years is a completed life time, as the Psalmist states: "The years of our life are seventy years". Seventy years in Jewish outlook is an historical time unit, representing a significant chapter in human history. Seventy years after the first Temple was burned by the Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar and the Jews were driven into Exile, the exile ended and many returned to Israel and rebuilt Jerusalem. Seventy years signifies completion and full circle."

"In but a few moments ancient prophecies will be fulfilled and veritable truths realized when the United States moves its embassy to Israel’s capital, Jerusalem. It will also be a day when we will remember the strength and courage of the man who made it happen: President Donald Trump.
"Over the past decades the United States Congress was sincere when voting overwhelmingly to relocate our embassy from Tel Aviv, Israel’s largest city, to Jerusalem, Israel’s dedicated capital. It made sense; after all, every country in the world decides the location of its capital and embassies are located in those capitals.  It also was the right thing to do. Jerusalem has been the capital of Israel ever since King David 3,000 years ago consecrated Jerusalem as Judea's capital. Soon, he drafted the plans for The Holy Temple and almost immediately thereafter his son, Solomon, built the palaces and ancient temple on those lofty hills. Everyone knows this.
"As far back as Abraham, the hills of Jerusalem and Mt. Moriah specifically have played a pivotal role among the Hebrews in their ancient biblical land. For millennia Jewish hearts and prayers were directed toward a return to Zion, Zion being the synonym for Jerusalem itself. No other people or nation who temporarily traversed the land between the Mediterranean Sea and Jordan River has made Jerusalem a centerpiece of their theology, history, spiritual yearning, nor the zenith of their joy and celebration. No one but the Jewish people has cultivated it and made the land blossom and its cities flourish. Yet, until now the embassy move did not happen." . . .

"The surprising history of one of modern Judaism's most important songs."
Last year, this year, next year -- All the years in Jerusalem...rebuilt  . . . "And so it is only fitting that the day after the May 13, 2018 Jerusalem Day, on May 14, 2018 the United States admits reality and moves its embassy to Israel's capital, Jerusalem.  All over the world, embassies are in the country's capital; consulates are in the other important cities.  Israel is the only country in the world whose capital does not host embassies, and so President Donald J. Trump (R) is righting a great wrong while leading other countries to rectify their gross mistake." . . .

"Exodus is a 1960 epic film on the founding of the modern State of Israel. It was made by Alpha and Carlyle Productions and distributed by United Artists. Produced and directed by Otto Preminger, the film was based on the 1958 novel Exodus by Leon Uris. The screenplay was written by Dalton Trumbo. The film features an ensemble cast, and its celebrated soundtrack music was written by Ernest Gold.
"Often characterized as a "Zionist epic", the film has been identified by many commentators as having been enormously influential in stimulating Zionism and support for Israel in the United States. While Preminger's film softened the anti-British and anti-Arabsentiment of the novel, the film remains contentious for its depiction of the Arab–Israeli conflict." . . .

The fourth anniversary of Faucism

  Don Surber

We should learn from this because we failed to learn from the London Plague in 1665The plague was spread by fleas. Rats carried the fleas. The Lord Mayor of London did not fully understand this. He ordered the slaughter of all the dogs and the cats in the city. The rat population rose. The human population withered.

This week marks the fourth anniversary of the birth of Faucism, in which an elfin bureaucrat uses a health emergency to shove people around and show what a big man he was. The birth was in Barbra Streisand’s backyard where police valiantly pursued and subdued a flagrant violator of the high and hideous crime of surfing on the high seas.
"Gidget and the Beach Boys were hardest hit.
"No, this was not a joke. This was an attack on the liberty of every American.
"The Faucists succeeded in using fear to remove us from our beaches and to strip us of our president, who so loved America and so wanted to make her great again that they impeached him twice.
"Let us review as I go over an old post from my old blog. (And I thank Ed Driscoll at Instapundit for reviving it yesterday because we must remember the evil they unleashed in the name of protecting public health.)
"Here is that post.
"On April 3, 2020, the Daily Breeze reported, “Malibu surfer in handcuffs after enjoying empty, epic waves.”
Los Angeles County sheriff deputies arrested a man who was by himself in the ocean, in the name of stopping the spread of covid. The deputies were unmasked. It was a crazy time in which authorities erred on the side of authoritarianism to stop the spread of a virus.
The experts sided with closing down the world.
The LA Times reported, “Kim Prather, a leading atmospheric chemist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, wants to yell out her window at every surfer, runner, and biker she spots along the San Diego coast.”
She told the paper, I wouldn’t go in the water if you paid me $1 million right now.”
Why?" . . .

“Few have ever had so little accountability for their inadequacy in addressing the task at hand, while being handed so much unconstitutional and unwarranted responsibility for doing so.” — Faucian Bargain: The Most Powerful and Dangerous Bureaucrat in American History.  . . .

The COVID Survey That Should Have Rocked the World

https://www.terrellaftermath.com/
Rothwell’s quote should have set off alarm bells in the Times newsroom. As the survey made clear, a misinformed and paranoid electorate was driving policy decisions in Washington as well as in every blue state and in every major city within a red state. Editors should have asked just who was misinforming these people and why.

American Spectator  "In March 2021, a year into the Covid-19 pandemic, the New York Times shared the results of a comprehensive survey of 35,000 Americans done by Gallup and Franklin Templeton. True to form, the Times refused to face the survey’s epic implications.

"The Times started pulling punches in the headline, “Covid’s Partisan Errors: Republicans tend to underestimate Covid risks — and Democrats tend to exaggerate them.” This equivocation papered over the real news hook of the story, namely that health officials and their media enablers scared policy makers, especially in blue states, into making catastrophic, fear-based misjudgments.

“ 'To many liberals, Covid has become another example of the modern Republican Party’s hostility to facts and evidence,” wrote reporter David Leonhardt, unaware that he just delivered a laugh line. In assessing the GOP worldview, Leonhardt, like most of his media colleagues, saw hostility in just about every Republican gesture.

"Later in the article, for instance, he observed, “Conservatives tend to be more hostile to behavior restrictions and to scientific research.” An unbiased copy editor might have rewritten that sentence, “Conservatives tend to have a strong belief in individual freedom and can be skeptical of scientific research.” Unfortunately no such copy editor exists at the Times.

"To his humble credit, Leonhardt surprised his audience by admitting that “conservatives aren’t the only ones misinterpreting scientific evidence in systematic ways.” Yes, Virginia, “Americans on the left half of the political spectrum are doing it, too.”

"As noted in the subhead, conservatives appear to underestimate Covid risks while Democrats overestimate them. Leonhardt assured the reader that “underreaction has been the bigger problem with Covid.” Yet every bit of evidence he presented subverts his thesis."...

Doctors are getting angry at their patients  "One of the more bizarre twists in the saga of the COVID pandemic has been doctors growing increasingly frustrated

and even angry with patients asking for medical treatment rather than wholesale vaccination. We have been told for almost two years that COVID is a deadly disease. Naturally, when people test positive for COVID, they want to be treated to avoid serious illness. Instead, they are sent home to quarantine, with no medical treatment until they become seriously ill.

"Some patients take exception to this approach and ask for ivermectin, which is being used outside of the United States to treat early COVID. There is a significantly lower incidence of serious cases of COVID in countries that use ivermectin for early exposures.". . .
