Meghan McCain/ UK Daily Mail: John Fetterman's painful debate performance exposed a cynical political and media cover-up of a Senate hopeful's health. Voters and the candidate HIMSELF deserved better   "Tuesday night's debate between John Fetterman and Dr. Mehmet Oz was one of the most difficult that I have ever sat through in my life.

It made me extremely sad. It was uncomfortable to watch. Quite frankly, it never should have happened. But most importantly, Americans cannot pretend that we didn't witness what we witnessed last night.

"We saw a man in the throes of a difficult recovery from a stroke. And we were exposed to a political and media scandal. I would go so far as to call it a cover-up.

"Now, you cannot be human without feeling for John Fetterman. Above all else, he is a man with a family and a compelling political career. He is a man with hopes and ambitions, who was nearly killed by a stroke as he was on the verge of realizing - no doubt - a dream. And nonetheless, as he said last night, he got back up.

"Of course, we've known for weeks that John Fetterman had lingering problems from his stroke.". . .

John Fetterman debate was painful and shameful — he is physically incapable of being a senator  . . ."It’s an act of personal malpractice on the part of those who encouraged him to continue because this singularly upsetting performance is not the way any person on this Earth — and particularly not someone who suffered a calamitous brain shock — should become famous or notorious or be remembered."

Fired-up Lee Zeldin brings the fight to Gov. Hochul, decisively wins only NY governor debate  "If Gov. Kathy Hochul was going to give him only one debate, Rep. Lee Zeldin wasn’t going to waste a second making nice. The Republican challenger brought the fight and focus that he has displayed on the campaign trail and scored a decisive victory Tuesday night.

"This wasn’t a knockout, but a victory on points because he made specific and realistic promises to improve life in New York. Hochul, meanwhile, mostly played defense.

"Even when she played it well, she never really laid out a vision of what four more years would look like and how they would be different from now.". . .

Gretchen Whitmer left thrashing after tangling with Tudor Dixon in Michigan debate

Elections are won, not just with bad Democrats with bad records that are badly defended, but by having good candidates on the other side.  Without the latter, Democrats stay in power forever.  Dixon did a good job forcing Whitmer to answer for her hideous record as governor.  Whitmer was able only to deliver insults such as "conspiracy theorist" in return, which has the strength of a popgun on armor.  Not surprisingly, polls are now showing Dixon a point or two ahead of Whitmer, in what has been considered a fairly "safe" blue state.  Whitmer's debate performance and Dixon's willingness to fight may have sealed Whitmer's fate now.  It couldn't come to a more oppressive and arrogant governor.

WELL, THAT WAS WEIRD  . . ."The debate was hosted by two (lame) moderators. The format presented questions that required answers in quiz-show bites ranging from 15 to 60 seconds as dictated by the moderators with an old-fashioned call bell marking the expiration of the time afforded. “Mr. Oz, I’ll give you 15 seconds to respond.” “Mr. Fetterman, you have 30 seconds.”

"I thought the format worked to Fetterman’s advantage. He was repeatedly saved by the bell when he only had a three-second thought. And yet it is difficult to see how he or the falsehoods peddled on his behalf can be taken seriously after last night.

"Fetterman could not understand the questions posed to him in oral form. He was served by a mostly unseen large screen behind the moderators. The screen presented a running transcript of the debate in closed captions. Questions posed to Fetterman were frequently followed by delays of several seconds as he read them on the screen before answering. The time delay made it seem like the questions were phoned in from outer space.". . .Scott Johnson, Powerline

Kathy Hochul on the Need to Lock Up Criminals: ‘I Don’t Know Why That’s So Important to You’  “We’re halfway through the debate, and she still hasn’t talked about locking up anyone committing any crimes,” Zeldin said, to which Hochul responded, “Anyone who commits a crime under our laws, especially with the change we made to bail, has consequences. I don’t know why that’s so important to you.”
