Wintour openly boasted of a ban on Donald Trump, long ago a perennial attendee of the event, once he became president in 2017. Tim Gunn, a major figure in the world of fashion design, similarly became persona non grata. When asked about the most incredible sight he has seen in his years in fashion, Gunn answered, “watching Anna Wintour being carried down five flights of stairs by two bodyguards — two big hulking men — from a fashion show.”
