EPA: Red Tape Rising

Morning Bell  "Next January the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is set to issue new regulations on emissions from boilers used in facilities like oil refineries, paper mills, and shopping malls. The EPA claims their new regulations will only cost the economy $9.5 billion by 2013. But the American Chemistry Council says the cost will surpass $20 billion and kill 800,000 jobs. Who is right? We don’t know. But what we do know is that if you total up all of the new regulations already passed by the Obama administration last year, using their own cost estimates, fiscal 2010 saw the largest increase in regulatory burdens placed on the U.S. economy in the nation’s recorded regulatory history." Emphasis added.

EPA Funnels Taxpayer Money to Dozens of Liberal Community Activist Groups   "Environmental Protection Agency recently listed 76 community groups and government agencies that will share almost 2 million taxpayer dollars in the form of "Environmental Justice Grants ". "

U.S. Gives Liberal Activists Environmental Justice Grants "In a crusade to help minority and indigenous communities, the Obama Administration is doling out nearly $2 million in “environmental justice grants” to dozens of leftwing groups, including some dedicated to helping illegal immigrants."

This Is a Referendum, Not an Election

Dennis Prager  If the Democrats win:
-- The American people have announced, consciously or not, that they support the Democratic Party's "fundamental transformation" -- those were President Obama's words when he campaigned, and he has lived up to them -- of America from a liberty-based state of limited government into an equality-based welfare state with an ever-expanding government.
-- America will change from a country that emphasizes producing wealth to a country that emphasizes redistribution of wealth.
....Read more here...."And what would constitute a Democrat victory next Tuesday? Anything other than a Republican landslide. Any other result will be interpreted by the media and by the Democrats as solely a result of the economic recession and as the normal losses of the dominant party in off-year elections.

"In other words, the only way to ensure that the electoral results are seen as a repudiation of the growth of the state and the other Democrat and leftist goals is through an enormous Republican victory.
"Only then will America understand that this election was not first about jobs. It was above all about America."

Voting machines in Clark County, Nevada automatically checking Harry Reid's name; Voting machine technicians are members of SEIU  "Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid's name was already checked.
"Ferrara said she wasn't alone in her voting experience. She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen.
""Something's not right," Ferrara said. "One person that's a fluke. Two, that's strange. But several within a five minute period of time -- that's wrong.""

American Exceptionalism

William Stout "We have been lied to. By the President, by Congress, and by our political parties and they did so with the blessings of the press who cheered them on. Our system is broken, our politicians are corrupt, and our government has turned to tyranny in dictating to the public what we must purchase. Our founders would never have stood for such lunacy. They revolted over a tax on tea and yet we are forced to submit to a tyranny who seeks to beggar us and to dictate to us how to live? I think not."  Via Paladin's Page .

Video: Sink cheats during FL gubernatorial debate

Hot Air  "The first rule of Political Debate Club, at least in Florida’s gubernatorial race? No messages from staff. Second rule of Political Debate Club? Don’t get caught on camera breaking the first rule. It’s one thing to cheat during a debate, but Alex Sink commits the really unpardonable sin of being incompetent at it:"

America Sees Through Jon Stewart: Obama’s Clown No Longer Fooling Anyone

Big Hollywood  "Another way to look at it is that whereas Bill Maher is MSNBC, Jon Stewart is NPR, another media giant hiding behind the false veil of objectivity but only because they believe that particular posture gives them some sort of advantage in the war to destroy the right and advance the left. Thankfully, most people saw through NPR some time ago, and now we’re finally getting a chance to see the phony shine start to fade from Stewart."

Obama to Kids: Stop the Bullying; Obama to Latinos: Punish Your Enemies

JammieWearingFool  "Who's the man who just yesterday urged his constituents to punish their enemies? Oh, right, it was Barack Obama."
Barack Obama gave his marching orders:
"And then there’s this…"
Obama told far left Latinos to go out there and “punish” your enemies.
Unreal. Obama doesn’t even talk about radical Islamists that way.

Culture of Corruption: Harry Reid Staffer Caught in Sham Marriage to Keep Terror Suspect in the U.S.

Pajamas Media  "Two weeks ago, it was revealed that a Reid staffer and other congressional aides were buying or selling shares in companies regulated by Congress.
"Now, Reid’s Hispanic press secretary, Diana Tejada, has been implicated in an immigration scam involving a false marriage to a Lebanese national who was under investigation by the Oklahoma City Joint Terrorism Task Force, according to a FoxNews report."

California's Man-Made Drought

Climate Change Dispatch "Instead of pink blossoms and green shoots along Highway 5 in April, vast spans from Bakersfield to Fresno sit bone-dry. Brown grass, dead orchards and lifeless grapevine skeletons stretch for miles for lack of water. For every fallow field, there's a sign that farmers have placed alongside the highway: "No Water = No Food," "No Water = No Jobs," "Congress Created Dust Bowl.""

Obama's Last-Ditch Strategy

Daily Beast "The White House plans to test Republicans' unity and political resolve on three controversial issues: repealing the Bush tax cuts, implementing the deficit commission's findings, and pushing immigration reform. Obama's team says that these issues will make for good policy—and good politics, forcing Republicans elected in swing districts to choose between placating Democrats and independents and risking a possible Tea Party challenge in 2012."

Democrats’ Favorite Election Strategy Strikingly Familiar to Monty Python Fans    "When confronted with voters over the past year, the Democrats have wielded one consistent message: "I order you to be quiet!" "

Obama Says GOP Has ‘Gotta Sit In Back
"Ask yourself what Republican or conservative political figure could get away with making such a ‘pointed’ remark?   http://sweetness-light.com/archive/obama-says-gop-has-gotta-sit-in-back
He said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, "we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back." …

"Alas, it turns out that Mr. Obama is just as much a post-racial President as he is a post-partisan one. Which is to say he is the most partisan and the most racially divisive President in our nation’s history." Sweetness and Light

Wikileaks's leaks mostly confirm earlier Iraq reporting (Updated)

Washington Post  "The report confirms that the vast majority of Iraqi civilian deaths were caused by other Iraqis, not by coalition forces; claims such as those published by the British journal The Lancet that American forces slaughtered hundreds of thousands are the real "attack on truth." "

Julian "Inconceivable!" Ass-ange "Instead of averting war or preventing bloodshed, Julian Assange has actually increased the chances of civilians being murdered and the possibility of civil war in Iraq..." Blackfive

Big Insurance, Big Medicine

Wall Street Journal  "ObamaCare's once and future harms have been well chronicled, but the major effects so far are less obvious and arguably more important: A wave of consolidation is washing over the health markets, and the result is going to be higher costs." Via Heritage.

Returning the People’s House to the People

Heritage  "The House of Representatives was designed to be a broad-based legislative body, more representative of widespread public opinion and responsive to the people than any other element of the federal government. This is why the Constitution grants the House exclusive power to initiate revenue bills and take the country to war. The Founders intended the House to be a decentralized lawmaking body, not one dominated by a few select leaders."

Four reforms that could change the culture of Congress   "The goal is to strengthen the Constitutional design of “the people’s House,” whereby power is intended to flow from the bottom up, not from the top down, as it currently does." Ernest Istook served for 14 years as a U.S. Congressman and is now a distinguished fellow at The Heritage Foundation.

Thanking Nancy " Now ... let's see. Surely there are other things we can give Nancy credit for! How about that spectacular ObamaCare bill that we had to pass so we could find out what was in it? Princess Pelosi complains that "You have all those forces at work, pouring millions of millions of dollars into the media, and now into the campaigns to mischaracterize everything that we did." Well .. it's government accountants, not the evil media and the hated (but only as long as they're serving Republicans) "special interests," that are now telling us that Obama care is going to cost way more than you said, and that it will be adding to our deficits as early as next year. "
