Washington Examiner "It is long past time for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) to be held accountable for the inflammatory misinformation he spread during his time in office. Arguably one of the worst Democrats in congressional history, Schiff has a long track record of distorting facts, manipulating data, and not telling the truth. As such, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) introduced a resolution to expel Schiff from the House after the release of special counsel John Durham's report earlier this week.
"Luna called Schiff a "dishonor" to the House, and in actuality, that's probably an understatement. Schiff served as the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee from 2019 to 2023 and played a prominent role in advancing the hoax of collusion between former President Donald Trump and the Russian Federation. In 2017, he proclaimed there was "more than circumstantial evidence" of collusion. He continued this charade even after Robert Mueller's report and numerous other investigations proved no collusion.
"Knowingly using your position on House Intel to push a lie that ripped apart our country, cost taxpayers millions of dollars, and authorized spying on a US President and then proceeding to double down on the lie within days of the Durham report coming out makes you unfit for office," Luna said in a press release (and tweet). "Ethics should investigate."
"Make no mistake about it: Luna was absolutely justified in issuing this resolution. Given Schiff's atrocious history of telling the truth and advancing lies, this is an action Republicans should have taken a long time ago. All one must do is examine this dishonorable man's words and actions. His shenanigans routinely riled the public behind inflammatory claims he could never substantiate. Consider just some of his sordid history as the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.
"As mentioned above, Schiff said that he had had "more than circumstantial evidence" of such wrongdoing between Russia and Trump and would eventually show it to the public. However, this didn't happen because he never had such proof.
"Then, in 2018, Schiff attempted to obstruct the release of former Rep. Devin Nunes's (R-CA) memo. This document detailed the FBI spying on a Trump campaign staffer in October 2016 after obtaining warrants based on misleading "politically motivated or questionable sources." It turned out Nunes was telling the truth — once again, Schiff was lying."Additionally, Schiff's dishonesty was on display for all to see during the second impeachment trial of Trump. He read an alleged phone transcript of a call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that turned out to be entirely fake. He was also dishonest regarding contact with the whistleblower from Trump's second impeachment trial." . . .
