Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Feb. 1.
"In July, the Pima County Sheriff's Department released two ransom notes that surfaced after Nancy's disappearance, asking anyone who recognized the writer's distinctive style to come forward."
"Authorities have said they are looking into a possible new ransom note linked to the Nancy Guthrie investigation, nearly eight months after she went missing.
"Posting on X on Sept. 28, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said its joint task force with the FBI had been "recently made aware" of the note, adding that investigators are reviewing social media comments about it as they work to "determine its credibility."
"Officials have not disclosed how they found the note or what it says.
"This is the latest note potentially linked to the case. In July, authorities released two ransom notes initially sent to a Tucson TV station and other news outlets days after the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie went missing.
"Nancy, 84, disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on Jan. 31. She was last seen at about 9:45 p.m. when a family member dropped her off after dinner, and was reported missing around noon the next day when she didn't show up at a friend's house to watch a church service online.
"Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said investigators believe she was taken by force, ruling out any dementia-related disappearance. "She is as sharp as a tack," he said early in the investigation, adding that her physical limitations were "based on just age." Guthrie relies on a pacemaker and requires daily medication that could be fatal to miss." . . . More.
