"Well this was certainly unexpected. The leftist Washington Post dropped a devastating op-ed Friday by its editorial board that ripped into democratic socialist mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani and said that he would be “bad for New York.”

"As we reported, the political novice won a shocking victory in Tuesday's Democrat NYC mayoral primary, beating disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo and putting himself in prime position for the November general election.

"Usually the liberal rag is little more than a mouthpiece for the DNC, so to see them go after a Democrat this hard is a stunner and reveals two things: 1) Mamdani and his extremist policies are truly a danger to the Big Apple, and 2), leftists are scared right now. As I wrote earlier Friday, Mamdani could turn out to be a “big, beautiful gift” to the GOP because we can and will pound away the narrative that this guy is the new face of the Democrat party.

"Even for many libs, this permanently-grinning specter with his socialist utopia visions, grand tax schemes and antisemitism is a bridge too far.The Post agrees, and they give the entire game away in their headline: Zohran Mamdani’s victory is bad for New York and the Democratic Party.

"The WaPo was just getting started, saying that almost all other Democrats are “better” than Mamdani." . . .

Zohran Mamdani, the charismatic 33-year-old who is now the front-runner to be the next mayor of New York, might seem like a breath of fresh air for a Democratic Party struggling to move past its aging establishment. In fact, New Yorkers should be worried that he would lead Gotham back to the bad old days of civic dysfunction, and Democrats should fear that he will discredit their next generation of party leaders, almost all of whom are better than this democratic socialist.

"Our South Carolina neighborhood has green cans for garbage and blue cans for recycling. All our neighbors dutifully separate their garbage. We don’t, and we don’t for a very specific reason. What I discovered a couple of years ago is that, while different trucks drive around collecting blue and green cans on garbage day, at the end of the shift, the trucks dump all the garbage into the same landfill. It’s a scam that, according to my local representative, makes people feel good about themselves.

"When I lived in Marin County, California, we also had to separate our garbage. That wasn’t surprising, though, given that Marin County is one of the most hardcore Democrat regions in America. There, it wasn’t voluntary, with municipal codes mandating separation, a mandate enforced with financial penalties. Since I left California, the state got into the action, too.

"It turns out, though, that in Tiburon, California, the garbage collectors haven’t gotten the message. This wonderful video shows that, while good citizens dutifully separate their trash according to complex instructions carefully written out on the garbage cans, the efficient trash collectors are unimpressed. Everything goes into the same bin, then to the same truck, and from there to the same landfill: This is the practice in Tiburon, CA as posted by Ms. Widburg.

ANN ARBOR, MI — On Monday, May 1, the Thomas More Law Center (“TMLC”) filed its written opposition in the Michigan Supreme Court challenging the wisdom of a proposed amendment to Michigan Court Rule 1.109, which would require all judges in the state to refer to parties and attorneys by any personal pronoun they select.

"Erin Elizabeth Mersino, TMLC’s Chief of Supreme Court and Appellate Practice, authored the eight-page opposition to the proposed rule.  She commented that the proposed amendment “is the ACLU’s latest attempt to destroy the very fabric of our nation by subjugating our inalienable right to free speech to mandatory endorsement of its transgender agenda.”  The proposed amendment is so extreme, judges will no longer be able to make judgments on a case-by-case basis.  Failure to use a requested pronoun could result in the judge being punished for violating the court rule by the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission.

"The pronoun controversy erupted when Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Mark Boonstra criticized the other two members of the three-panel court over their use of the Defendant’s preferred pronoun in a concurring opinion in People v. Gorbick.  The Defendant, convicted of multiple counts of criminal sexual abuse on children and self-identifying as having multiple personality disorder, told the court he wanted to use the preferred pronoun, “they” and “them.”  Judge Boonstra expressed his concern for blindly following such a request and wrote that the court “should not be altering its lexicon whenever an individual prefers to be identified in a manner contrary to what society throughout human history has understood to be immutable truth.” . . .

Indeed, even Sotomayor and Kagan wouldn’t join her dissent, while six of the justices signed on to the main decision.

Blame must be assigned where it belongs; to the witless Biden and his unlearned handlers who placed Judge Jackson in this unfortunate position and set her up for predestined failure. Sadly, I see her on the opposite end of the spectrum from Justice Clarence Thomas.TD

His personal work experience is extremely limited and there are no notable accomplishments marking his life since he graduated from Bowdoin College.

"As a true Marxist, his campaign derives its impetus from the communist slogan of “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” Since life is sustained at a basic level by the air we breathe and the food we eat, he has promised to have government run grocery stores where food prices will be kept down because the stores will not pay property tax or rent. As someone who had many students from the former Soviet Union after it collapsed in 1991, I heard many stories about obtaining food in the USSR under communism where all the grocery stores and butcher shops were government-owned.

"Students regaled me with stories of how family members would have to line up for hours at butcher shops to obtain even one chicken. Furthermore, to even be certain that a decent chicken awaited the customer after a long wait, bribes had to be paid ahead of time to those running the shops. The range of items for sale was quite limited. There was a pathetic lack of choice in the former USSR, a country big on promises but weak on delivery." . . .
