“NATO will never be the same” – The Right Scoop

New York Times draws scorn for bungling meaning of NATO in headline: 'How embarrassing and sad'

  • "JUST IN: President Trump PUMMELS the New York Times after they called
NATO the “North AMERICAN Treaty Organization” “The Failing New York Times, whose lack of credibility, and their constant Fake News attacks on your favorite President, ME, has caused its circulation to absolutely PLUMMET, referred to our severely weakened and extremely unreliable “partner,” NATO, as the North American Treaty Organization.” “The correct name is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization – A very interesting mistake! The hiring and educational standards have gone way down at the NYT. Bring back, “ALL THE NEWS THAT’S FIT TO PRINT” and, Make America Great Again!” – Eric Daugherty
  • When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done – showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause. – Ari Fleisher
  • It was fascinating to watch the reactions to that fake New York Times headline misnaming NATO. As one would have expected, leftists and other apologists ranged from “they were tired” to “just an innocent mistake” to “I feel so bad for the editor.” But the reactions on the right were far more varied, from “that’s sloppy,” to “their newsrooms are staffed with morons,” to “nothing about this is accidental,” and everything in between. It’s easy to overlook, but calling NATO the North American Treaty Organization was the entire premise of the story. Without that, there would have been no story at all, which makes any innocent explanation impossible to swallow. So of course it was not an accident. Perhaps it was not total fraud in the sense of hoping no one would notice, but it was certainly performative fraud. In law, it would be called reckless disregard for the truth. The pattern is always the same. They are so consumed by their hatred of Trump that they convince themselves whatever is bad for Trump must be true, thereby satisfying both their audience and their own ego. – Hans M

It looks like President Trump may pull the United States out of NATO because of Europe’s abject refusal to support him in taking out the IRGC terrorist regime in Iran. Ukraine will soon become their problem to deal with and not his. “I don’t need Congress for that decision.” . . .

The Mysterious Solitude of Christ in His Passion and Death on the Cross

The American Spectator | USA News and Politics

In some faiths the Cross emblem has Jesus still attached to it; others show an empty Cross representing the Messiah as risen from the dead; His work is finished. TD

. . . "Christ praying in the most agonizing solitude in the Garden of Olives — his disciples had fallen asleep. He was also alone in the unjust and savage trial. He carried the cross alone, with only Simon of Cyrene to help him. He was alone during the scourging, and alone at the end, atop the cross; although it must be acknowledged that the presence of the Virgin Mary — and Saint John and the holy women — was more numerous than any human crowd.

"On the cross, Jesus knew himself to be so alone that he even stopped addressing men with words for the first time. It is true that he spoke to the good thief and to the Virgin Mary and her disciple, but the rest of the words spoken on the Cross seemed destined for Heaven, as if they were no longer of this world. Even his “I thirst” can be interpreted only as the final step in fulfilling his promise; but it is to God the Father that he asks why He has abandoned him, to whom he asks forgiveness for his executioners, and to whom he speaks to entrust his spirit into His hands.

"It is as if, at that crucial moment in the history of salvation, what truly mattered was now only between the Son and the Father. Even so, Jesus has not forgotten humanity; for each and every one of them, he is receiving this pain. So when a soldier offers him a sponge soaked in vinegar, he drinks from it; it is his silent way of accepting such a pious service in the midst of his agony.

"His cries, his gestures, and his words are already reaching Heaven, at the moment of the consummation of the greatest of sorrows, the greatest of injustices, the great sin that suddenly shrouded the earth in darkness; a sin that, moreover, was also yours and mine." . . . Full article here...

From space, Artemis II astronauts remember their Creator as they orbit on Easter

 Monica Showalter - American Thinker

"The astronauts look upon their place in the universe with humility toward their Creator, just as previous astronauts did.

"A spectacular double rescue in Iran. And the great news of American astronauts once again orbiting the moon.

"It's great to be an American again.

"And like the Founders invoking their Creator in America's Founding documents, on Easter Sunday, the American astronauts once again look to God as they sojourn in space.

"Yesterday, or perhaps today as space travel goes, one of the astronauts, Artemis II mission pilot Victor Glover spoke of God and God's connection to all humanity as he looked to the blue jewel of Earth:

"According to Space.com

: "You guys are talking to us because we're in a spaceship really far from Earth, but you're on a spaceship called Earth that was created to give us a place to live in the universe," Glover said." . . .

Apollo 8's Christmas Eve 1968 Message   "Apollo 8, the first manned mission to the moon, entered lunar orbit on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1968. That evening, the astronauts--Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot Jim Lovell, and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders--held a live broadcast from lunar orbit, in which they showed pictures of the Earth and moon as seen from their spacecraft. They ended the broadcast with the crew taking turns reading from the book of Genesis."

The best news: The second airman has been rescued. UPDATED

Andrea Widburg - American Thinker

"This Passover and Easter season is a time of rescue, liberation, rebirth, and great hope. Here, in the non-religious realm, I cannot think of anything more aligned with this special season than yesterday’s rescue of the weapons systems officer.

"Events unfolded on Friday, when a lucky Iranian shot hit a U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet, manned by a pilot and a weapons systems officer (WSO). (Contrary to what ill-informed media outlets are saying, this was not a sign that the U.S. and Israel lack air supremacy over Iran. Even with complete air supremacy, it is still possible for an enemy to get lucky.)" . . .

. . . "For the left to pretend that our troops are victims is delusional, as well as demeaning and infantilizing to the men involved. They’ve taken on this risk and, when all goes well, they’ve had an adventure, something young boys were once taught to crave.

"And today, patriotic Americans celebrate that, after a harrowing adventure, everyone made it safely home.

"UPDATE: This tweet has more detailed information, for those who are interested"

The WSO evaded Iranian forces for more than 24 hours, at one point hiking up a 7,000ft ridgeline, a senior U.S. military official said. U.S. attack aircraft dropped bombs and opened fire on Iranian convoys to keep them away from the area where the airman was hiding. As U.S. Special Forces converged on the downed airman, they fired their weapons to keep Iranian forces away from the rescue site, but did not engage in a firefight with the Iranians.

In a final twist after the officer was rescued, two transport planes that would carry the commandos and the airmen to safety got stuck at a remote base in Iran. Commanders decided to fly in three new planes to extract all the U.S. military personnel and the airman, and they blew up the two disabled planes rather than have them fall into the hands of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

What are you doing here? Thief- “The man on the middle cross said I could come” Alistair Begg

Alistair Begg - The Man on the Middle Cross

"This is a great way to explain Christianity and the afterlife to a non believer. None of us are good enough to go to Heaven, but by the Grace of Jesus, we can. He is the bridge between us and God. What a great way to start the day! Look to the cross, as a self check. Everyday is a new one. He has us all here, at this time, for a reason. He chose us all to be here, right now. Amen." Search for missing American pilot continues—US and Iranian forces race to find crew member

Conor Murray, Forbes Staff (live updates)

The U.S. military continued its search Saturday for a missing American pilot whose aircraft was shot down Friday by Iranian forces, one of two U.S. warplane crashes in the region, while Iran conducts a competing search as it urges locals through state media to find the “enemy pilot.”   More...

Images of the alleged downed aircraft were circulated widely on social media

US special forces enter Iran to rescue downed airman  . . . "Instantly, anti-Maga social media lit up with memes contrasting Donald Trump’s claims with Tehran’s surprise success. With two-thirds of Americans in favour of ending the war fast, Trump’s enemies laughing at every pratfall and knives drawn between isolationist zealots and mainstream Republicans, the latest setback was seized as an emblem of failure.

"Yet it also cuts the other way. The lost airman has loomed large in the American psyche ever since the Vietnam War, when downed pilots were tortured in the notorious “Hanoi Hilton” jail. This catalysed the Prisoners of War/Missing in Action movement, with bracelets inscribed with the names of the missing becoming hugely popular. The black “you are not forgotten” flag, which emerged in the Vietnam era, flies above federal buildings to this day." . . .

Late update: Nancy Guthrie case suffered when authorities rushed 'to judgement' she had 'wandered off,' source alleges

UPDATE:  Embattled Nancy Guthrie sheriff to be dragged before a public hearing as scandalous details about his past emerge | Daily Mail Online

"The sheriff leading the search for Nancy Guthrie has been called on by local officials to answer questions about his past as he faces growing scrutiny over his handling of the case.

"Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has come under fire for allegedly mishandling the probe into NBC Today Show host Savannah Guthrie's missing 84-year-old mother.

"Nancy was abducted from her $1 million Tucson, Arizona, home in the early hours of February 1, and there have been no arrests or suspects named in the two months since.

"In the wake of the bungled investigation, Nanos has been accused of workplace retaliation and of lying about his employment history

"The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted on March 24 to require Nanos to submit a sworn statement addressing those concerns, according to public records.

"It is part of an effort that could see Nanos removed from office, the Arizona Daily Star reported." . . .

Entertainment Weekly

"An anonymous source alleges that the investigators in the case were inexperienced." Beware "anonymous sources".

"The Nancy Guthrie case has been bungled from the start, an anonymous source alleged in a Thursday interview with NewsNation.

" 'Speaking with some people, that actually know the intimate knowledge of this investigation, told me that there was a rush to judgment of what was happening at that scene, and it was that Nancy had somehow wandered off," the source said. "So they rushed to that judgment, stayed with that judgment, and then ran this investigation as if it were a search and rescue issue, as opposed to a possible criminal issue."

"The anonymous source also alleged that the people on the scene were not "tenured homicide detectives" and that they "didn't have a lot of experience," which happens when people install their friends into positions.

"The individual said they don’t get the sense that there are suspects.

"The people I've talked to that are still in the know on this investigation tell me that there’s no direct suspect right now," the source said. "No name on the table."

"The unnamed source said there was "extremely low" morale tied to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.

"When asked what the department would say to Savannah, the source answered, "Just because we have an incompetent lead doesn't mean that we don't care. That we don't want Nancy to be brought home safely and that we're not with her in this. We are completely with her and her family on this.". . .More...

NBA Doubles Down On Woke By Punishing Player For His Faith

 The Federalist

"The NBA’s players should defend Ivey and demand that all franchise owners keep out of politics and let their players prove themselves on the court."

"After Jaden Ivey expressed opposition to the NBA’s promotion of “Pride Month” on the basis of his Christian faith, the Chicago Bulls immediately waived him. This means that after a 48-hour period, he will become a free agent who can try out for other teams. Lest anyone misattribute this cut to Ivey’s inability to play due to injuries, the Bulls made it abundantly clear they waived Ivey due to purported “conduct detrimental to the team.”

"Nevertheless, the word “conduct” is misleading here because it implies some sort of egregious activity, like committing a felony or assaulting someone. But, as we all know, the NBA is perfectly fine with giving a pass to violent felons. Where the league draws the line is speech that goes against its leftist agenda.

"Ivey is certainly not the first player to be targeted for dissent. In 2021, the Brooklyn Nets benched star point guard Kyrie Irving for refusing to take the Covid shot — he was entirely justified in his objections, by the way — which ended up costing him more than $100 million. Although the team’s leadership pretended this had to do with health concerns, it seemed more like a pretext to force an outspoken player into submission. This is just one example, but the NBA had long distinguished itself as the “wokest sports league,” even as it routinely kowtowed to Chinese authoritarians." . . . More...

Spencer Pratt zooms to second place in Los Angeles mayoral poll following That Video about taking out the trash

Monica Showalter

"Is Los Angeles waking up?

"According to the California Post, there's been a change in the polling pattern for the Los Angeles mayor's race, which in a crowded field suddenly shows a conservative in second place, with most voters still undecided. The primary is in June and a runoff will be held in November if no candidate manages to break 50% of the vote." . . .

. . . "Pratt has been making impressive television appearances and writing with a nerd's knowledge about the Hollywood moviemaking industry on his substack, which undoubtedly contributed to his rise. Somehow, the underdog is getting word out on his own efforts.

"The polling period also concided with the release of this video by an independent group called LatinosPorPratt which came out on March 27 and rapidly went viral, drawing 168,000 views on X alone, and many more beyond that as influencers shared the video with much higher numbers. They were just freelancers doing their bit to support Pratt on their own dime, saying they had no connection to him." . . .

Spencer, Saca La Basura!

"The video packs a punch and is extremely well made, describing the problems that affect everyday Angelenos (of all nationalities actually) with a splendid Cuban soundtrack and some cute salsa moves featuring a cartoon Spencer and his wife, as well as Spencer sweeping out the trash, repairing potholes, focusing on economic growth, and highlighting Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass's execrable record as mayor -- boondoggle projects, Hollywood shutting down and fleeing, and of course, the Palisades and Altadena fires."  . . . Spanberger Facing Pressure to Cooperate With ICE After Slew of Heinous Illegal Alien Crimes Rock Virginia

Debra Heine › American Greatness

“When will sanctuary politicians wake up and begin putting American lives FIRST?” the agency asked.

*Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy

"Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger (D.) and other local authorities are under fire over a recent string of very high profile and preventable crimes committed by illegal aliens in the sanctuary state.

"One of Spanberger’s first actions as governor was to sign an executive order barring state and local authorities from cooperating with federal authorities for federal immigration enforcement.

"Since then, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has pleaded with Spanberger and Fairfax County officials to stop releasing dangerous criminals back into the community without notifying ICE.

"In the past few weeks, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged four hold requests for illegal immigrants charged with murder and other heinous crimes in Northern Virginia.

"Just this week alone, ICE has issued two detainers for two Guatemalan nationals charged in separate murders in Fairfax County.

"Misael Lopez Gomez, 28, was charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse for allegedly beating his 3-month-old daughter to death. The baby was reportedly  found unresponsive at the home on March 27, and died from blunt-force trauma. Gomez admitted to illegally crossing the United States’ southern border in July 2023 near Albuquerque, New Mexico, under the Biden administration.

“This cold-blooded killer murdered his own three-month-old daughter. We are calling on Governor Spanberger to commit to not releasing this barbaric animal from jail into Virginia communities,” Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement on April 1. “This monster should have never been allowed in our country by the Biden administration. We need cooperation from sanctuary politicians to stop criminals from being released from jail to perpetrate more crimes and create more innocent victims.”

*"Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, 38, was arrested on March 30, 2026, and charged with second-degree murder following a fatal machete stabbing of a man in Bailey’s Crossroads, Fairfax County, Virginia. According to DHS, he entered the U.S. illegally at an unknown place and time." . . .  More...

Bernie Sanders Is Lying To You About Taxes And The Rich

 Issues & Insights

"It’s easy enough to dismiss Sen. Bernie Sanders’ endless lament that the rich don’t “pay their fair share of taxes,” but he should still be held to account when he flat-out lies about how much the rich do pay.

"In an op-ed published by the Guardian, Sanders repeats a number of leftist tropes: income inequality has never been greater, the Trump tax cuts benefited the rich and big corporations, the middle class is getting screwed. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

"But then he starts making some remarkable claims.

"He says that Warren Buffett’s tax rate is 0.1%, “while the average schoolteacher paid 9.8%.”

"Elon Musk, he says, faced a tax rate of 3.3%. Jeff Bezos’ is less than 1%. Michael Bloomberg’s is 1.3%, while “the average registered nurse paid 13.3%.”

"If that seems too outrageous to be true, that’s because it is.

"Those numbers are based on an analysis by the leftist ProPublica, which compared the taxes paid by these billionaires with their wealth, not their income.

"But as anyone who pays taxes knows, the government taxes income, not some fanciful measure of wealth.

"That same ProPublica report shows that from 2014 to 2018, Buffett paid $23.7 million in taxes, against an income of $125 million. That’s a tax rate of 19%.

Jeff Bezos paid $973 million in taxes on income of $4.22 billion. That’s a 23% tax rate.

"Musk’s tax rate was even higher – 30% – since he paid $455 million on income of $1.52 billion.

"So how did ProPublica manage to force their “true tax rates” down to near zero? Simple, they estimated how much their wealth had increased over those same years using estimates compiled by Forbes of the value of their stock, property, and other holdings, then said that, because those “gains” weren’t taxed, their “true” rates are super low." . . . More...
