Opinion: Obama tries to gaslight America about Abdul El-Sayed Several updates.

“They will use lies, and maybe your name or your faith to somehow suggest you are dangerous and less American than they are,” he said."

Opinion by Batya Ungar-Sargon    "With just over a week to go until the midterm elections, former President Obama joined the campaign trail to remind us of just how smug and condescending he can be. It was Obama at his best: He made fun of the tastes of middle-class Americans, getting into hot water over a joke about how tacky the Cheesecake Factory is. He also bemoaned how divisive our politics has gotten — while of course slamming his political opposition as utterly indecent.

"What's more, he reverted to his trademark gaslighting. It's almost as if we were all back in 2012.

"The comments came over the weekend at campaign stops in Ohio and later in Michigan, where the Democratic nominee, Abdul El-Sayed, is struggling with Black voters. El-Sayed’s efforts to court this traditionally stalwart Democratic bloc have fallen flat; a recent poll had former House Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), the Trump-endorsed Republican candidate, picking up an unprecedented 33 percent of the Black vote.

"Hence Obama’s appearance — a Hail Mary attempt to revive El-Sayed’s support with Black voters.

"At the rally, Obama compared questions about El-Sayed’s connections to the Muslim Brotherhood to the Birther movement — the kooky conspiracy theory that Obama had not been born in the U.S.". . .

. . . "El-Sayed constantly accused his main opponent in that primary, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), of having dual loyalties to Israel. He justified a terror attack that nearly killed 140 Jewish preschoolers by saying that “hurt people hurt people” to explain the would-be mass murderer’s motivations. El-Sayed talks about Israel as an adversary on the scale of Iran. And that is radical." . . .   More.

Pro-Abdul El-Sayed ad sparks fury with claim Israel to blame for high grocery prices: 'Case study in antisemitism'

“Any (of my fellow) Democrats who condemn the disgusting Ramaswamy ad in Ohio but do not condemn this deserve our unflinching contempt.”

“This type of fearmongering about Israel is wrong,” added Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.), who ran against El-Sayed in the Democratic primary. “It is not a winning strategy for any state. It does nothing to help Michigan Democrats win up and down the ballot in eight days."

Campaign Staffer for Abdul El-Sayed Caught on Undercover Camera Saying ‘Americans Are Idiots’ (VIDEO)   "A campaign staffer for , the radical leftist running for Senate in Michigan, was recently caught on an undercover camera saying that ‘Americans are idiots.’

"The staffer is apparently angry about the scrutiny El-Sayed is getting over his family’s reported ties to the Muslim Brotherhood." . . .

Sunny Hostin Resurfaces Kamala Harris' 'Really Problematic' Answer on 'The View' as Co-Hosts Say She's Not the 'Right Candidate' for Democrats in 2028

OK Magazine

A . . . "poll conducted October 2-5 of 2,553 U.S. adults places Harris at the top of potential 2028 Democratic nominees with 32 percent support. The rest of the field follows, with Gavin Newsom at 13 percent (or 15 percent, depending on the specific sample reporting), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at 9 percent, Pete Buttigieg at 9 percent and Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff at 8 percent.

During a "Behind the Table" panel event, The View’s co-host Sunny Hostin admitted her 2024 campaign question to then-Vice President Kamala Harris — asking what she would do differently than President Joe Biden — was meant to be a "gift" to distance herself from low approval ratings. Hostin said she knew immediately that Harris' reply ("There is not a thing that comes to mind") was "really problematic.”
"The co-hosts of The View also debated Harris' viability as a potential 2028 presidential candidate.
"Hostin questioned whether the presidency is the right position for Harris, stating she wished Harris had run for California governor instead. She also noted reports that Harris' husband, Doug Emhoff, has privately said he doesn't want her to run.
""I actually thought the answer was going to be, you know, 'We had a lot of wins in this administration. I was there for those wins, but as a woman of color, a child of immigrants, with a different lived experience, I intend to bring that lived experience into the White House. I will do this. I will do that. I will do this. I will do that. I will do that,'" she spilled. "That was what I was expecting. I was not expecting, 'Not a single thing comes to mind.' And I knew honestly when she said it that it was really problematic.".
"Joy Behar expressed doubt that the U.S. would elect a woman as president, pointing to the losses of Harris and Hillary Clinton, arguing the 2028 Democratic nominee should be a man.
"Ana Navarro defended Harris as a longtime friend and noted that many women remain "scarred" by the outcome of past presidential races." . . .  More.

"In the name of ‘compassion’ and believing in their moral superiority, people, like those on the political Left, have done terrible things."

@MassiveSpectacular:
"Melanie sums it up exactly. Thank you for having her on your program. There is a terrible derangement on the left. I keep telling my 92 year old mom that the danger right now is from the left, and she just can’t come to grips with it since her whole life the danger has been from the right. But as my dad used to say “politics isn’t a straight line, it’s a horseshoe and the further you go in either direction the more hate is enshrined.” . . .

Obama’s tone-deaf, nasty crack about the Cheesecake Factory

"For those who follow politics, this was par for the course for Democrats: They really loathe ordinary Americans."

Andrea Widburg

"To toot my own horn, while I have the design sensibility of a blind frog, I know class when I see it. My mother grew up in a rarefied pre-WWII European world of great wealth, and her father was an avant-garde architect. My childhood home was an exquisite fusion of both. Our family friends shared that sensibility. I raised my children in Marin County, a place of tremendous wealth and style. I’ve been surrounded by good taste my entire life, even though I can't replicate it.

"My background readied me to think that the Cheesecake Factory is lovely. My old Marin neighborhood thought the Cheesecake Factory was lovely. Heck, my whole community thought the Cheesecake Factory was lovely, for it quickly became one of Marin’s most popular restaurants when it opened.

"Beyond the fun menu, the Cheesecake Factory is an inviting place to eat. It has an almost Viennese fin de siècle, Art Nouveau elegance—one of my favorite design eras, with its sweeping lines and luxurious, welcoming warmth. Like the best original fin de siècle Art Nouveau design, it’s satisfying without falling into pointless gaudiness.

"Why do I start this essay by raving about the Cheesecake Factory’s design aesthetics? Because Barack Obama, to denigrate Donald Trump (whose design aesthetic is more Louis XVI than Art Nouveau), trashed the Cheesecake Factory:" . . .

Catherine Herridge Reveals BRAND NEW Path To Prosecute Ilhan Omar — And It’s BIG!

100PercentFedUp  "Catherine Herridge just identified a potentially powerful new lane for federal investigators examining Rep. Ilhan Omar: passport fraud.

"Omar has not been charged, and Herridge is describing a legal theory rather than announcing a prosecution.

"The theory could give investigators a way to examine newer conduct even if allegations involving decades-old immigration records would otherwise face serious time-limit questions.

"Herridge laid out the legal route Wednesday evening." . . .

. . . "The statute Herridge cited is real, broad and more consequential than many casual observers may realize.
"The U.S. Code makes it a federal crime to willfully and knowingly make a false statement in a passport application with the intent to secure a passport. It also reaches knowing use or attempted use of a passport that was secured by a false statement.
"The application offense is complete when a person knowingly supplies the false information for the purpose of obtaining the passport. The government would have to prove knowledge and intent, rather than rely on a clerical mistake, innocent misunderstanding or political accusation.
"The use provision reaches a different act: knowingly using or attempting to use a passport that was issued because of a false statement. For an ordinary first or second offense unrelated to terrorism or drug trafficking, the statute authorizes a maximum sentence of ten years.
"A separate provision, 18 U.S.C. § 3291, gives prosecutors ten years from the commission of a passport offense to bring a case, including a conspiracy to violate the covered passport statutes.
"That is the opening Herridge is flagging." . . .  More.

Why does a Democrat running for Senate in Texas need to borrow the cultural packaging of conservatism?

James Talarico Wants To Win Texas In Republican Drag

"The sign says, “Change My Mind.” Before changing their votes, Texas Republicans should ask what Talarico wants them to believe."

"Democrat Senate hopeful James Talarico doesn’t want you to change his mind. He wants you to change yours, and he’s betting Texas Republicans are gullible enough to fall for the packaging.

"Conservative commentator Steven Crowder has filed a lawsuit against CNN and Jubilee over their use of "Change my mind" , the slogan Crowder made famous through his political debate videos.

"According to Newsweek, Crowder says his trademark brand and format are being used to help Talarico ingratiate himself with conservative voters. Crowder initially threatened legal action against Talarico, CNN, and Jubilee, but the reported lawsuit names the two media companies as defendants. The Louder with Crowder host also argued in an episode of his show last week that CNN is peddling the falsehood that the format, which he created in 2017, is a “unique” concept that will “change town halls” in the future." . . .

The DSA Plans To Incite Violence Ahead Of 2028 Election

"The reported DSA-linked planning treats the Insurrection Act as a trap that works only if Trump walks into it on their timetable and terms."

The Federalist

"Over on X, DataRepublican’s reporting on documents and recordings from the Democratic Socialists of America and allied networks lays out a calculated strategy for the run-up to the 2028 elections. The goal is sustained mass violence and street clashes designed to push President Donald Trump into invoking the Insurrection Act. Once invoked, Democratic governors and progressive organizations would treat the order itself as evidence of “fascism” and a reason to undermine federal authority.

"Groups including the United Democracy Alliance, invoking Erica Chenoweth’s 3.5 percent rule, appear ready to coordinate the street actions, legal support, and media framing. Neville Roy Singham, operating from Shanghai and connected to the Chinese Communist Party’s United Front Work Department, is positioned to amplify the disruption from abroad.

"The plan assumes Trump will choose immediate order over patience, and hand his opponents the optics they have prepared. Whether that assumption holds depends on the costs of each path.

"Policing power in America is overwhelmingly local. The FBI fields about 13,700 special agents nationwide. The New York Police Department alone has more than 34,700 sworn officers. A president can protect federal property, personnel, and functions without becoming the default response for every city whose leaders have weakened policing and tolerated disorder. Broader federal action is also available. Both options carry consequences, and progressive networks are organized to contest either one.

"One set of costs is political. Invoking the Insurrection Act and placing federalized National Guard or active-duty forces in law-enforcement roles inside Democratic cities would supply the “fascism” narrative. Local Democratic officials who have criticized aggressive policing and treated destructive unrest as legitimate expression would likely resist or litigate the deployment. That resistance would become part of the story." . . . More.

Don't Take Marriage Advice From Celebrities and Influencers

Intellectual Takeout

"Women who hang on the words of celebrities like Cooper or Bush will discover too late that these women’s romantic lives are anything but the model for happiness."

"In a recent episode of the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy,” host Alex Cooper interviews Sophia Bush, an actress who is now married to a woman after divorcing her husband in the summer of 2023. Bush and Cooper offered some pretty terrible advice to female audience members who are having second thoughts about ending their marriage.

“We can get really, really in our heads about … maybe I shouldn’t leave this marriage because can I even get [someone] better?” Cooper said.

“Yes! The answer is always yes,” Bush responded. “This idea that it’s too late, or you’re too old, or who are you to want more, that’s patriarchy. That is crazy.”

"It’s sad to think that a podcast as popular as “Call Her Daddy” has undoubtedly influenced many women to make regrettable decisions in their dating and married lives. This episode may have finally convinced a woman whose marriage has lost its “spark” that she needs to leave her husband, raise her children in a broken home, and throw herself at the dating market afresh in her 30s or 40s. Under very limited circumstances, this is a terrible idea, yet Bush insists with ill-gotten confidence that the question of whether to divorce one’s husband is “always yes.”

"Bush’s previous marriage lasted barely over a year. She met her now “wife” at a support group for divorcees. Cooper, who is vocal about her past sexual exploits, married just over two years ago, but with such a low view of the bonds of marriage, the odds are high that she will decide that divorce is the better option. After all, the answer is always yes." . . . More.

Schiff: Dem Oversight Could Led to Trump's Impeachment

 Breitbart

"But it should be with an eye to improving the quality of life for the American people.”

"Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said if Democrats win back control of Congress, an impeachment of President Donald Trump is possible.

"Host Kristen Welker said, “Let me ask you about a big debate right now inside the Democratic party. If Democrats do win back control of Congress, it’s about impeachment. You, of course, led the first impeachment of President Trump back in 2019. As we sit here today, Senator, do you believe that President Trump has committed impeachable offenses?”

"Schiff said, “I feel the same way I did early in the Russia investigation, which is you don’t prejudge the outcome before you even do the oversight. And so what I’m suggesting that we do is, first of all, focus on exactly what we’re campaigning on. And that is—our primary focus needs to be on bringing costs down. So our oversight should focus on that. It should focus on the corruption that is driving costs up. If that corruption leads in the direction of impeachment, it will lead wherever it leads. But we should put our overriding emphasis not on impeachment, but on bringing the cost down for the American people, on our affirmative agenda, on our oversight agenda, yes, our investigative agenda. But it should be with an eye to improving the quality of life for the American people.” . . .

UPDATE:  Here's Where Dem Senate Candidates Stands On Court-Packing

"Once upon a time, calling to pack the Supreme Court with more justices for partisan gain was viewed as such a radical idea that few politicians would even consider it. Today, it has become mainstream in the Democrat Party.

Throughout the past year, Democrats far and wide have resuscitated plans to increase the number of justices on the high court as a means of garnering decisions favorable to their party. From potential 2028 presidential contenders to congressional leadership, these officials have made clear their intention to pack the court should they reclaim Congress and the White House in the next few elections.

With Americans currently heading to the polls for this year’s midterms, The Federalist has assembled a guide assessing where every major Democrat Senate candidate stands on the issue. While some candidates have already openly entertained court-packing, others have chosen to hide their position from voters.

Burning cars, meet CBS’s vocabulary department: X users roast the word ‘scuffles’ in Paris reporting

From the Ali Velshi School of Journalism:

The Daily Bo Snerdley

SPARE ME THE BS (I’ve got things to do).

  • CBS’s October 17 X post described Paris clashes as ‘scuffles’ involving small groups, drawing ridicule over images of fires and destruction.
  • The post was deleted; its roundup featured users mocking the wording with car-fire jokes and insurance-company sarcasm.
  • Independent reporting documented arson, looting and attacks on police. CBS’s current article also describes serious violence.

LAY IT ON ME (I’ve got time).

CBS News handed its critics a one-word punchline for the weekend’s violence in Paris: scuffles.

An October 17 X post, preserved in contemporaneous coverage, began: “Scuffles broke out Saturday in Paris,” and referred to “small groups of protesters.” Readers looking at the burning-car imagery were considerably less delicate.

On Sunday CBS had deleted the post. A Twitchy roundup captured the reaction, with users treating the wording as a fresh entry in the media’s euphemism sweepstakes.

One particularly sharp response came from the account Super Journalist (Retired), @Magnum_CK: “Imagine calling your insurance company and telling them your car was torched during a scuffle.”

Try that one with the claims adjuster." . . .

Americans LIGHT UP CBS After Noticing the Word the Outlet Uses to Describe the Horrifying Islamo-Marxist Riots in France

No effort on the part of CBS to be even as good as the former MSNBC and Ali Velshi.

The Gateway Pundit

"CBS ‘News’ got absolutely destroyed online after using a very poor choice of words to describe the worst riots in the history of France.

"As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Islamo-Marxist riots in France have completely exploded after weeks of mayhem and are threatening President Emmanuel Macron’s home.

Thousands of violent protesters on Saturday overturned cars, set buildings ablaze, and attacked police across the country. One of the most historic structures in the entire country, the 143-year-old Limoges town hall, has now burned to the ground as the police continued to sit on their hands.

"Rioters were also on the verge of reaching Macron’s palace. Just imagine the horror if it were set on fire as well.

"CBS, however, considered the torching of an entire country by Muslims and communists a mere “scuffle.”

"Yes, the outlet really tweeted that word.

Gullible Leftists Receive a Very Rude Awakening After Fleeing Trump’s America for a Life in ‘Progressive’ Europe

  The Gateway Pundit

"Annie says she experienced a high amount of anti-American sentiment straight away. “I found it particularly surprising how people feel so comfortable mocking my accent and culture, even in a workplace environment,” she says. "

"American have long fantasized about how different life would be in ‘enlightened and tolerant’ Europe instead of having to deal with people they regard as knuckle draggers here at home. Well, a few got their chance and what they say should serve as a dire warning.

"Wired magazine spoke to several Americans who fled Trump’s America for the European continent about their experiences.

"Let’s just say the fantasy they were sold turned out to be a lie.

"A progressive woman going by “Annie” had noticed Americans on TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit bragging about how exciting life was in the United Kingdom’s suburbs. “Annie” was particularly enchanted by the promise of ‘free’ healthcare, ‘excellent’ transportation, and the country’s ‘rich’ culture.

"But “Annie” soon received a rude awakening about the ‘paradise’ she thought she was entering.

"She was taken aback by Britain’s garbage NHS, lower salaries, and basic items that the country lacks, such as dryers and dishwashers." . . . More.
