NRO "San Rafael residents will no longer be allowed to smoke in their homes thanks to a new ordinance passed by the city council. Under the new bill, residents of the California city will be subject to the toughest anti-smoking law in the country.
"Under Assembly Bill 746, it would be illegal for people to smoke in their home if it shares a wall with another housing unit.
"The Washington Times reports that supporters of the initiative cite that secondhand smoke can travel through shared ventilation system’s in condos or apartment buildings. “It doesn’t matter if it’s owner-occupied or renter-occupied,” one of the ordinance’s writers reportedly said. “The distinguishing feature is the shared wall.' ”

I don't like cigarettes, and I've never taken a puff. My sympathies aren't with smokers because I am one, it's because of the huge growth in laws and punishments and government restricting people more and more. Illinois' criminal code was 72 pages long in 1965; today it's more than 1,300 pages long.
