Republicans slam President Biden for failing Gold Star families who shared 'heartbreaking' testimony after losing loved ones during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal: 'Blood is on his hands'

Cheryl Rex, mother of Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola said during her testimony: 'When [Biden] approached me, his words to me were, 'My wife, Jill and I, know how you feel. We lost our son as well and brought him home in a flag draped coffin.''

"The families of the 13 U.S. service members killed in Kabul, Afghanistan, shared their heartbreaking stories during a public forum in Escondido, California, organized by Rep. Darrell Issa. They said they have been lied to by the Biden administration, which has not taken accountability for the deaths of their children.

" 'We can never get these men and women back, and that blood is on President Biden's hands,' Sen. Joni Ernst told DailyMail.com.

" 'These Gold Star families' voices will continue to be heard as we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and demand accountability for their deaths,' continued Ernst, R-Iowa, the first female combat veteran elected to the Senate.

" 'I've met with some of these families and heard their stories. The heartbreak and anger over the lack of answers from the Biden Administration is palpable,' Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., told DailyMail.com Tuesday.

"Waltz is a former Green Beret who served in Afghanistan during multiple combat tours.  

"A suicide bomber detonated his deadly payload outside of the Abbey Gate at Kabul's international airport on August 26, 2021, killing 13 American service members and at least 170 Afghans amid the chaos of the exit. . . ."
