(trendingpoliticsnews.com) "Pixar is set to layoff an unspecified number of staffers in the second half of 2024, according to a report from Variety magazine. The layoffs come after a number of box office bombs such as Lightyear and Elemental, both of which contained leftist social ideologies.
"News of the upcoming cuts was first reported by TechCrunch, who reported that the studio was considering layoffs for 20 percent of its staff. This would leave Pixar with less than 1,000 employees, though a Pixar representative told Variety that the cuts being considered by parent company Disney are not as dramatic.
"Discussions surrounding layoffs are currently underway as the studio finishes up a number of projects that were started in the second half of 2023. Cuts have reportedly been considered for awhile, though discussions were put on hold in order to allow current projects to wrap up.
"Pixar is currently slated to release Inside Out 2 in 2024 and Elio in 2025, with two unnamed films planned for 2026.
"Cuts at the once mighty animated studio — which has produced box office hits such as Finding Nemo, Cars and Toy Story — are part of wider cuts at Disney. The parent company has laid off more than 8,000 workers over the last year, accounting for roughly 3.6 percent of its workforce.
"On the box office front, Disney lost more than $1 billion across nine film releases, a run that concluded with the disastrous Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny. The run included two woefully underperforming Pixar productions — Elemental and Lightyear — the latter of which featured a same-sex kissing scene." . . .
