About [Tuesday] Night: A Little Instruction on Progressives Can Be Helpful
. . ."Why all the rancor? Why did they snub a kid battling cancer and people who have lost loved ones? Why did they stay sullen and silent when they should have been applauding accomplishments that benefit the nation? Why were they defiant over the prospect of a war ending? Well, let your friendly, neighborhood recovering Democrat break it down for you. This is old territory for me, so walk with me while I take you down the dark corridors of the Progressive mind. It has been a while since I declared myself to be what used to pass for a liberal, but I think I remember enough to guide you through the weirdness. Allow me to be the Virgil to your Dante." . . .
From obnoxious booing to childish protest signs to a sitting member of Congress having to be physically removed from the chamber, Democrats turned what should have been a solemn, dignified event into a bad reality show. And for what?
Two polls show the public is thrilled with Trump's address to Congress ..."No wonder the public isn't buying it.
"Every childish thing Democrats have done in these last 24 hours has been toxic for their prospects as Trump rises in the polls, just by addressing things people care about.
"Deep down, they seem to know this.
"I was struck by how official Democrat respondent, Sen. Elissa Slotkin, seemed to go out of her way to appropriate President Trump's ideas as if they were her own. She spoke of border enforcement. She nattered on about being against government waste."
Slotkin’s unserious reply to Trump’s 2025 joint address to Congress ..."Slotkin’s meaningless abstractions about “who we are” as a country and a democracy are nice pablum but, unfortunately, the Biden-Harris administration forgot who we are as a country and forgot about our national security when they stoked inflation with reckless spending, opened our borders and lied about it for four years, and ignored the rise in crime. That’s why Democrats were decimated in the 2024 election.
"Slotkin warned that “We need to bring down the price of Groceries, Housing, Healthcare, cars.” Unfortunately, that is precisely what the Biden-Harris administration did not do for four years. And we thought that Obamacare was supposed to bring down the price of health care. In fact, it doubled it. That is why Kamala, comically, had to campaign on bringing down the price of healthcare." . . .
