Five Musicians Who Hate Bruce Springsteen

Studio Number Six

Comments to this post: "First saw Bruce in 1974 and twice since then. His performances are legendary for a reason - he gives every ounce of energy for 3+ hours, every concert. He incorporates sax, piano, organ and electric guitar into a blend of melody that starts slow, changes beat mid-stream and then finishes by bringing it all back together. He is a poet who tells a story and paints a picture with words, nick names and metaphors that some can't understand. I get that his music may not be for everyone, but I don't get the hate."

"Springsteen is a hypocrite. He lives his life like a millionaire rock star should, but he wants everyone to think he is the common man. The common man's daughter doesn't compete in the most expensive sport there is in the Olympics. That is equestrian if you didn't know. His daughter rides around on horses worth a half a million dollars. I don't have a problem with that, he has earned his money, but don't act like you are working for minimum wage."

"I couldn’t care less about what Richards says about anything. He can’t sing and his lyrics are pedestrian. Springsteen doesn’t profess to be blue collar. He acknowledges he’s rich. That doesn’t mean he can’t comment on the blue collar life that he experienced as a child. I think it’s noble that, in spite of his wealth, he continues to have empathy and writes songs about those less fortunate. The overrated Richards still plays blues music. He’s also rich. Does that make HIM a phony? No. Lyrics are a form of literature. Was Bowie ever a spaceman or a Spider from Mars?" . . .
