Hundreds of pro-Palestine supporters are using the phrase “free Palestine” at rallies around the world.
The term, at first glance, can be used ambiguously—either representing a two-state solution or alternatively the complete overthrow of Israeli control.
The exact phrase is related to the expression, “from the river to the sea, Palestine shall be free,” which is known to carry anti-semitic connotations in certain contexts.
