"Searchers in Mexico are following up on an anonymous tip about a possible grave site connected to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie, according to a volunteer group leader.
"Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, who leads the missing-persons search group Buscando Corazones Nogales, said her organization received a report Wednesday indicating that a burial site possibly linked to Nancy's case may have been located, prompting an extensive search effort in Mexico, near the Arizona border, she told the outlet El Imparcial.
"Officials have not verified the claim, and it remains unclear whether investigators have established any connection between Nancy Guthrie's case and Mexico, or whether the alleged grave has any link to her at all. It comes after a former FBI agent predicted the exact occupation of Nancy's kidnapper.
"Volunteer search teams, who have spent weeks scouring isolated areas in the region as part of the broader hunt for the 84-year-old, were reportedly the ones to investigate the new information about a possible grave near the Mexico border.
"Nancy disappeared from her residence near Tucson in February. Investigators have said indications of a struggle at the property point toward an abduction.
"Shortly after she went missing, reports indicated that investigators discovered blood at the home, though its source has not been identified." . . . More...
