We’re only teaching half the Holocaust. Here’s the lesson our kids are missing
Our children should grow up knowing that people chose goodness even when the cost was immense. And they should hear, from us, that choosing goodness is a responsibility they can begin to fulfill today.
"The stories of the Righteous should be central to what we teach the next generation because remembering evil must also carry a responsibility to recognize and practice goodness. Children deserve to know what evil has done. They also deserve to know the names and choices of people who refused to surrender to it.
"The Righteous Among the Nations were non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. Their actions offer something every generation needs: evidence that conscience can become courage, and that one person’s decision can change the future of people they may never meet.
"We ought to treat that inheritance as a responsibility.
"A recent conversation with Jonny Daniels, founder of From the Depths, brought that responsibility into focus for me. His documentary, The Righteous Road Trip, follows his visits to rescuers whose extraordinary choices deserve to be carried into our families, communities, and public life. Their stories give us a way to speak about goodness with the seriousness it deserves.
"One story Daniels shared concerned Jozef Jarosz, who was a boy when his family hid Jews in the Polish mountains. According to Daniels, Jozef’s father encountered Jews seeking help while visiting a nearby town for market day. He brought two people home. Eventually, the family was sheltering 14." . . . More.

Andrée Geulen didn't show any fear and when the German asked her if she wasn't ashamed to teach Jews, she brazenly responded: 'Aren't you ashamed to make war on Jewish children?'.
