"The group — whose stores include Foodtown, Key Food, C-Town and other supermarkets — have generally voted for Democrats, Eusebio explained. Yet now they’re desperate to end the city’s shoplifting pandemic and other crimes that have plagued their businesses and city streets.

"They want crooks held “accountable,” not freed to rob again soon after their arrest, as now under New York’s lunatic cashless-bail laws. In stark contrast to Gov. Kathy Hochul, Zeldin vows to fix those laws on Day 1, if elected.

“ 'We are frustrated and tired of Democrats saying that bail reform has not affected crime negatively,” rails Carlos Collado, a registered Democrat who owns two Bronx markets.  

"Who can’t feel their pain? Hochul wants them to think New York has no crime problem — that “master manipulators” and “data deniers” have conspired to get everyone to believe otherwise. Yet these entrepreneurs watch with their own eyes as shoplifters walk off with their merchandise nearly every day.". . .

They don’t want voters to know that fascism’s father Benito Mussolini said that “socialism is in my blood,” or that the Nazis were national socialists.
• Politicians and media figures hungry for raw power will call those who question an election that they won “deniers” while themselves denying that they did exactly that in previous elections.
• A party that wishes to destroy America would, as Walter Russel Mead wrote a month after Donald Trump took office, limit fracking as much as possible, block oil and gas pipelines, and try to tamp down tensions with Russia’s ally Iran. The GOP has done none of that. The Democrats are guilty of all three.
• A party that would abolish democracy would crush dissenting voices and opinions, and constantly smear its opponents – which is what the Democrats have done. (And yet again we have to reiterate that the U.S. is not a democracy. That is an infantile construction used to deceive. We are a republic.)
• White supremacists don’t appoint minorities to their Cabinet. Trump had one black Cabinet member, two Asians and one Native American. George Bush had four black Americans in his Cabinet. Neither do white supremacists brag that during their administration, black unemployment reached a record low. Trump did.  . . .

 A man called Adam Benfield allegedly shot his wife dead in Buffalo last month while their children watched, and he did so a day after he’d been released on domestic abuse charges because state law prevented the judge from setting bail. All over the country, cities and states run by Democrats are allowing criminals to roam free and unpunished, and crime rates are spiking as a result.

"If she has, it will replicate former Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s monumental gaffe in 2021, when he accidentally told the truth and revealed that he neither understood nor cared about parents’ deep anxiety over Virginia schools indoctrinating children with extreme left-wing propaganda on race and gender.

"In a prime-time debate against then-businessman, now-Gov. Glenn Youngkin, McAuliffe said, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.” This crystalline statement of Democratic insouciance toward ordinary people’s interests detonated like a grenade. Youngkin could hardly have believed his ears or his luck. His campaign rolled the tape again and again in TV commercials, dooming the hapless blue candidate in a blue state.

Now, Hochul has done something very similar in New York. The big issue in this case is a ubiquitous sense of threat felt by peaceful and law-abiding citizens because crime is surging. The concern is spread statewide but most acute in left-liberal New York City, where robbery has increased by 38% in the past year, grand larceny by 35%, and burglary by 31%. Numbers like those will depress turnout for Democrats where they most need enthusiasm.". . .
