It wasn’t “the times” that caused feminists to give Bill Clinton a pass

Political Cartoons by Mike Lester

Power Line Blog   "Yesterday, in a post called “The Farce of Bill Clinton’s Reckoning,” I discussed the intellectual dishonesty of the many Democrats and feminists who defended Clinton from highly credible (and in at least one case admitted) charges of sexual misconduct. I rejected the defense to this hypocrisy that, when Clinton’s offenses were “litigated” more than 20 years ago, the problem of sexual harassment wasn’t taken nearly as seriously as it is today. The furor caused in 1991 by Anita Hill’s charges against Clarence Thomas demonstrates the falsity of this evasion.

"Yet, feminists and Democrats continue to make the argument. For cite one absurd example, last night a “Democratic strategist” who, from the look of it, was a toddler during the Thomas-Hill showdown, informed Tucker Carlson that “the times” were different in the early 1990s.
"To overcome feminist amnesia (or in the case of the “strategist,” ignorance), let’s revisit the Thomas controversy. First, let’s compare the allegations against Thomas with those against Bill Clinton.
"Was Thomas accused of rape, as Clinton was by Juanita Broaddrick? No. Was he accused of attempted rape? No.
"Was he accused of groping Anita Hill? No. Did he try to steal a kiss from her? No.
"Was any sex act performed, as with Clinton and Lewinsky? No. Nor was there any cigar play.
"Here is how, at the time, Newsweek summarized Hill’s allegations against Thomas, all of which were denied by the nominee and none of which was ever corroborated:" . . .

'Hero' pulls gun to stop woman from being raped on Austin trail

NBC5 Dallas  "An Austin man takes his weekly trail run armed with a flashlight, cell phone -- and a handgun tucked in a Velcro belt. Last month he pulled out the  weapon to help rescue a woman who was being sexually assaulted.

"Josh Williams, 39, was running about 5:30 a.m. on the north side of Austin's Hike-and-Bike Trail when he heard a woman screaming and pointed his flashlight in her direction, KVUE-TV reported. He saw a man on top of her and realized she was being sexually assaulted.

" 'I came up, pulled my gun and told him to get off of her," he told the station. "I said, 'Get on your knees and show me your hands.'"

"The suspect told Williams that he knew her, but the woman told Williams that wasn’t true.

"The suspect ran away, but Williams and the victim were able to give police a description. Richard McEachern, 22, was arrested several days later and faces a sexual assault charge, the station reported." . . .

Satan, the left and the death of reality

David Limbaugh

"David Limbaugh spotlights poll showing most Democrats ignoring realities of biology"

"I’m an advocate of higher education and all, but so much for assuming that the development of common sense and sound judgment are part of the package.
"A Pew Research Center poll found that 77 percent of Democrats with a bachelor’s degree or more believe a person’s gender can be different from the sex they were “assigned at birth.” You’ll remember that Democrats are the party of science, and Republicans the Neanderthal science-deniers.
"First we have to ask ourselves why in the world it would occur to anyone of any gender at any time or any place even to conduct such a survey. It would be like surveying people to find if they believe ears are for hearing or eyes for seeing.
Image result for gender dysphoria cartoons"It would be disturbing enough if only 77 percent of Democrats with this level of education thought gender is determined biologically. But 23 percent? That’s a whole new level of weird – unless you define “weird” as being outside the mainstream. What’s weird is how weird the mainstream has become – at least on the political left. This doesn’t speak well for higher education in this country, does it? Then again, you wouldn’t be surprised if you had seen the core curricula of America’s “great” universities – and many of the required reading assignments in the classes.
"I watched an interesting video of a young conservative from a liberal family explaining why he could dialogue with liberals and still love them because we all share common goals. It is leftists, he said, who don’t even share our goals anymore, and it is very difficult to find any common ground with them.
"I thought to myself when watching the video, “Yes, we do share some of the same goals: less crime, less poverty, etc., but increasingly the mainstream Democratic Party is embracing or strongly enabling certain extremist ideas. There is just no denying that the party has lurched leftward.' ” . . . Full article.

Trump Doing What He Set Out To Do In South Korea

RealClearPolitics   "RCP co-founder and publisher Tom Bevan joins FNC's 'Special Report' panel to discuss the president's trip to Asia:
TOM BEVAN: [Trump's trip to Asia] is consequential, it is going well so far. There haven't been any major gaffes. He's doing a reasonably good job of doing what he set out to do on the trip, which is to build support for sanctions [against North Korea]... There is some skittishness in the region, particularly in South Korea.

It looks like that is what Trump is doing: bringing out the carrot instead of the stick. Trying to shore up and reassure South Korea, get them on board for future sanctions, and bringing the region together to do something more against North Korea.

Trump is ever the showman, trying to keep people interested and engaged in this trip -- hence the tease about big new tomorrow.

Miss Iraq And Miss Israel Take Selfie Together, Muslims Lose Their Minds Over It…

Weasel Zippers Via BBC:

. . . "As contestants for Miss Universe 2017 gather in Las Vegas, it's no surprise many have been grabbing photo opportunities together.
"However, when Miss Iraq, Sarah Eedan, posted a selfie with fellow contestant Miss Israel, Adar Gandelsman, they may not have realised how mixed reaction would be on social media.
"Ms Gandelsman shared a similar photo on her Instagram account calling Miss Iraq "amazing". Her post was liked nearly 3,000 times.
"There are many other photos with other contestants featured on Ms Gandelsman's Facebook page, but this one has touched hearts and nerves equally.
"Ms Eedan, also spelled Idan, who grew up in Iraq and moved to the United States to study music, wrote on Facebook how honoured she was to be the first Iraqi woman in 45 years to be representing her country in the competition.
"Given there are no diplomatic relations between Israel and Iraq, it was pointed out by some, including YouTuber Sabrina Bennoui, posting a photo of the two of them together was "not to everyone's taste.' " . . .

Trump Represents US Far Better In Asia Trip Than Obama Ever Did
. . . "President Trump did us all proud on his Asia trip – at least those of us who are still prouder to be Americans rather than citizens of the world. He scored points by simply behaving like the leader of our nation and the free world.
"President Obama was never comfortable in either role. He often acted like he was ashamed of the United States and gave speeches that blurred the distinction between friend and foe.
"Not President Trump. He was open and forthright about his aims: he was in Asia to address North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons and long-range missiles, help right America’s trade imbalance with China, and reassure our allies about American staying power.
"Just in case anyone in Pyongyang or Beijing – or Hanoi or Manila for that matter – missed this message, there were three U.S. aircraft carrier battle groups operating off the Korean peninsula to reinforce its importance.
"The world was never comfortable with President Obama’s bowing and scraping. Other nations couldn’t understand why the head of the world’s only superpower would deliberately project weakness rather than strength.
"At times President Obama seemed almost embarrassed by American power, as if he believed that America’s free enterprise system was morally inferior to the vastly poorer but politically virtuous communist, socialist, and Islamic regimes he had to deal with. Our allies saw this behavior as, well, un-American. Our enemies were emboldened."  Keep reading…
Trumpian leadership and the awe of foreign heads of state
. . . "None of this was in evidence when Obama met these people or, before him, Bush II.  Obama had a certain presence, but it wasn't leadership he radiated; it wascocksureness, different from self-confidence in the way teenager cockiness differs from manly self-assurance.  The one's for show; the other's for real.

Gloria Allred’s Blunder on Roy Moore’s Yearbook Challenge

Big Government

"Gloria Allred is a highly accomplished, if controversial, lawyer who is admired — or reviled — for her sensational representation of women who are alleged victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Yet on Wednesday she committed a major blunder when she declined a public invitation by the attorney representing Roy Moore, Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Alabama, to have a key piece of evidence examined by independent experts.
"Earlier that afternoon, attorney Phillip L. Jauregui questioned some of the claims by Allred’s client, Beverly Young Nelson, who emerged Monday to accuse Moore of sexual assault several decades ago. In particular, Jauregui said that Nelson’s claim that she had no subsequent contact with Moore was false, because he had adjudicated her divorce in 1999. And he challenged a signature in Nelson’s high school yearbook that she claimed was Moore’s.
"Jauregui noted that handwriting experts “can’t look at a copy on the Internet … they’ve got to look at an original.” He demanded that Allred release the yearbook to a “neutral custodian” so that a “professional expert” could examine it to determine whether the signature was genuine — or, as he contended, a “fraud.” He said that Allred would be free to send her own handwriting expert to examine the yearbook and the signature for herself.
"Allred then called into CNN, reaching Wolf Blitzer live on The Situation Room. She said that she would be willing to submit the yearbook to “an independent expert or experts” — but only once her client and Moore had testified under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Select Committee on Ethics before the election. She would not agree to have the yearbook examined otherwise, claiming “we’re not going to be distracted.' ” . . .

Her own stepson has come out in support of Moore, saying that his stepmother is lying  . . . "According to The Gateway Pundit, Allred was asked by Wolf Blitzer if the signature was legitimate and whether she would go on record to say it “flatly was not a forgery.” However, rather than assure viewers that the signature was not forged, she dodged the question. Even worse yet, she was pressed several times to give a definitive answer but wouldn’t do so." . . .

News Anchor accuses Al Franken of non-consensual kissing, groping in 2006

Legal Insurrection
"Do Democrat Senators get one free grope, or will Senate move to expel Franken as is talked about with Roy Moore?"

This is making the rounds today

"Leeann Tweeden, now a local radio news anchor in Los Angeles, has authored an article accusing Senator Al Franken of non-consensual sexual contact in 2006, during a USO tour in the Middle East. This contrasts with the accusations against candidate Roy Moore, which involve alleged conduct several decades ago.
"Since there have been calls to “expel” Moore should he win, will there be calls to expel Franken for conduct which took place not long before his election to the Senate in 2008.
"The article is at the Talk Radio 790 KABC website. Here’s an excerpt, Senator Al Franken Kissed and Groped Me Without My Consent, And There’s Nothing Funny About It:
In December of 2006, I embarked on my ninth USO Tour to entertain our troops, my eighth to the Middle East since the 9/11 attacks…. The headliner was comedian and now-senator, Al Franken….
On the day of the show Franken and I were alone backstage going over our lines one last time. He said to me, “We need to rehearse the kiss.” I laughed and ignored him. Then he said it again. I said something like, ‘Relax Al, this isn’t SNL…we don’t need to rehearse the kiss.’
He continued to insist, and I was beginning to get uncomfortable.
He repeated that actors really need to rehearse everything and that we must practice the kiss. I said ‘OK’ so he would stop badgering me. We did the line leading up to the kiss and then he came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth.
I immediately pushed him away with both of my hands against his chest and told him if he ever did that to me again I wouldn’t be so nice about it the next time.
I walked away. All I could think about was getting to a bathroom as fast as possible to rinse the taste of him out of my mouth.
I felt disgusted and violated.
Not long after, I performed the skit as written, carefully turning my head so he couldn’t kiss me on the lips.
No one saw what happened backstage. I didn’t tell the Sergeant Major of the Army, who was the sponsor of the tour. I didn’t tell our USO rep what happened.
At the time I didn’t want to cause trouble. We were in the middle of a war zone, it was the first show of our Holiday tour, I was a professional, and I could take care of myself. I told a few of the others on the tour what Franken had done and they knew how I felt about it.
I tried to let it go, but I was angry." . . .

Sixty nails in climate alarmism's coffin

Jerry Shenk  "There are plenty of well-credentialed, objective, if little-publicized, climate skeptics, but few who are able to present their material in layman’s terms to an audience of curious, unschooled, but receptive climate truth-seekers.
A new resource provides a point-by-point review and response to each of the climate industry’s claims, citing the “normalcy” of much of their “alarming” data.
"In an entertaining, easy-to-read, elegantly-written, meticulously-researched, well-documented and illustrated 143-page book (including citations) entitled “Inconvenient Facts: The science that Al Gore doesn’t want you to know,” geologist Gregory Wrightstone presents a clear picture of the climate alarmism that attracts cynical big-government advocates and grips much of the scientific community, complicit media and the gullible among us.
"Wrightstone employs government sources, peer-reviewed publications and other scholarly works to reassure readers that our Earth has become healthier and more prosperous because of rising carbon dioxide and temperature levels, rather than in spite of them.
"The book details sixty inconvenient facts. Considering the climate alarmists’ persistent clamor about “scientific consensus.” Arguably, Inconvenient Fact #31 should have appeared first: “Science is not consensus and consensus is not science.”
"Wrightstone’s droll observation about the financial incentives driving many career-invested scientists to mislead or overstate the “catastrophic” potential of climate change, often without historical or even scientific context, is spot on: “Fund it and they will find it.' ” . . . Full article

Is the U. S. Congress a 'safe space' for sexual predators?

American Thinker  "Many universities today provide “safe spaces” for people who feel threatened because of their sexual orientation, race or even political affiliation. These safe spaces within the confines of the educational facility and are supposed to be free of harassment or anything thought to be offensive to the protected group.

"By law, every work place in America is supposed to be a “safe space” for women to be free from sexual harassment and abuse from other employees.
"Shockingly, we have now learned that the United States Congress may not be a “safe space” for women to work. And to top that off, when women are sexually harassed or abused while working in the U.S. Congress, the congressional rules for reporting and resolving any sexual harassment or abuse charges are designed specifically to protect the identity of the perpetrator while sweeping the incident under the carpet and out of the public eye.
"While a female working in the United States Congress is not restrained from going to outside authorities and exposing the alleged sexual predator to the public, interestingly, to date, no women working in the U.S. Congress has ever done so.
"With respect to any women who have been a target or victim of a sexual predator, maybe the women working in the U.S. Congress who have been sexually harassed or abused decided not to go public and expose the guilty sitting Congressman or Senator because they were offered a big cash settlement to bury the incident.
"The Washington Post reported that “between 1997 and 2014, $15.2 million was paid out to 235 claimants.' ”  . . .

No Democrats, you don't get your virginity back  . . . "Besides, it wasn't just Clinton.
"It was Ted Kennedy and Clarence Thomas.
"Democrats -- and frankly, most Republicans -- were cool with keeping Kennedy in the Senate after he got drunk, ditched his car in the water, and left a woman to die.
"And 22 years later, Democrats wanted to deny Thomas a seat on the Supreme Court because a woman said he put a hair on a can of Coca-Cola." . . .

Yes, Virginia, Immigration Is Turning The Country Blue

Image result for immigrant democrats cartoons

Ann Coulter  "Hey, Republicans! Did you enjoy Election Night last week? Get ready for a lot more nights like that as immigration turns every last corner of the country blue.

"When Ed Gillespie lost in Virginia, liberals crowed about how they're winning the war of ideas. The country has thoroughly, emphatically rejected Trumpism!

"Republicans, being idiots, played along, arguing only about whether Gillespie's problem was that he didn't embrace Trump enough or embraced him too much.

"Gillespie's campaign was fine. No cleverer arguments, community outreach or perfectly timed mailings would have changed the result. Contrary to The New York Times' celebratory article in last Sunday's magazine, "How the 'Resistance' Helped Democrats Dominate Virginia," it wasn't Democratic operative Kathryn Sorenson's savvy use of Facebook, Google and Eventbrites that carried the day. "The Resistance" didn't win.

"What happened was: Democrats brought in new voters. In 1970, only one out of every 100 Virginians was foreign-born. By 2012, one in nine Virginians was foreign-born.

"The foreign-born vote overwhelmingly, by about 80 percent, for Democrats. They always have and they always will -- especially now that our immigration policies aggressively discriminate in favor of the poorest, least-educated, most unskilled people on Earth. They arrive in need of a LOT of government services.

"According to the Pew Research Center, 75 percent of Hispanic immigrants and 55 percent of Asian immigrants support bigger government, compared to just over 40 percent of the general public. Even third-generation Hispanics support bigger government by 58 percent.

"Polls show that immigrants are far more likely to support Obamacare and affirmative action than the general public, and are far less likely to support gun rights and capitalism." . . .
