Newsom to ‘Trump-Proof’ California at Special Session

 RTM

“Californians have made it clear: affordability is their top concern. Yet, even with the massive deficit he created, Gov. Newsom wants to hand his attorney general a blank check to wage endless battles against the federal government — while our own state is on fire, both literally and metaphorically,” said Jones.

"California Governor Gavin Newsom is set to convene a special emergency session of the state legislature on Monday, proposing a hefty $25 million legal defense fund aimed at “Trump-proofing” the Golden State. This move comes in anticipation of potential policy clashes with President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration.

"Newsom stated that California “is a tent pole of the country… protecting and investing in rights and freedoms for all people.”He emphasized the state’s willingness to work with the new administration but added a warning.

“ 'But when there is overreach, when lives are threatened, when rights and freedoms are targeted, we will take action. And that is exactly what this special session is about – setting this state up for success, regardless of who is in the White House,” said Newsom, per Fox News.

"The proposed legislation, expected to be introduced in the coming weeks, aims to bolster the state’s justice department. With a Democratic majority in the legislature, officials anticipate the bill will become law before Inauguration Day on Jan. 20." . . .

Opportunistic Michelle Obama Promotes New Book For ‘Anxious’ Liberals

Off The Press
"But Trump won in a historic comeback – placing the Obamas’ political legacy in apparent jeopardy. With their clout waning, the Obamas are at risk of becoming little more than rich lifestyle influencers – at least, that’s what Obama’s latest fluffy book would suggest."
Embrace your victimhood!

"As Democrats struggle to cope with President Donald Trump’s mighty political comeback, Michelle Obama is hoping to cash in on liberals who are feeling “a little anxious” about the shift in power.
"Conveniently, it was the Obamas, the Democrats, and their corporate media allies who made voters feel “anxious” by constantly telling the American people that Trump is a “fascist” who will destroy their lives.
"Now, Michelle Obama is trying to make a buck off the despair among liberals.
"In a message to her social media following, the former first lady urged her fans to purchase her self-help new book “Overcoming.”
"She called the book a “timely” holiday gift that would help readers deal with “anxious times.”
"Without mentioning Trump directly, Obama suggested her book would help her liberal readers manage stress after the most recent election.
"It comes as Trump’s history return to power has left Democrats demoralized and in the political wilderness.
" 'This is a timely gift or purchase for yourself because this is a workbook that takes you through some techniques and exercises based on some of the insights I shared with you all in ‘The Light That We Carry’,” Obama said.

The inevitable Hunter pardon and the insightful, amusing reactions on X

Patti Gillihan

Andrea Widburg  . . ."Once Hunter grew up, Joe made him his bagman. To that end, Joe dragged Hunter all over the world to sell, if not access to power, the illusion of access to power.

"Joe knew that what he was doing was illegal, and rather than doing it himself, he took advantage of the pathetic drug and sex addict that is his son. The whole time he did this, he constantly, in the most maudlin terms, talked how much he loves Hunter. That’s the love of an abuser and narcissist, not a healthy parental love that is based upon the desire for one’s child to thrive.

"At the end of the day, what Biden did to Hunter is just so...gross, immoral, and almost evil. It’s simply another aspect of this evil that Biden pardoned Hunter for all criminal acts, including those not yet tried or even discovered. Joe obviously did so to protect himself from Trump’s Justice Department investigating how Joe sold out his country. As Jesse Kelly said in the above tweet, poor Hunter “never had a chance.”

"Of course, the internet went wild. . . ."

"Hunter’s pardon is the most recent reminder that Joe Biden has been an unrepentant liar for 50 years and is completely devoid of any ethics whatsoever" Buck Sexton

"Hunter pardon settles Biden's legacy. Best he could hope for was a caretaker presidency. But after Kamala's failure, the pardon is an implicit acknowledgment of his complicity in his son's corruption. Biden is one of the worst presidents ever, hands down." Mark Hemingway

This is Joe Biden being sworn into the Senate.

That little boy is Hunter. He has a fractured skull and brain injuries from the car wreck. Joe made him get dressed up for a photo op cause he thought it would be good for his career. Hate Joe. Pity Hunter. Kid never had a chance.

Hunter Biden may be pardoned here, but he’s committed crimes elsewhere
. . ."In an admirably concise tweet, Anony Mee points out that Hunter’s wrongdoing wasn’t limited to America. Instead, it took place in Ukraine. Indeed, that’s what Trump’s first impeachment was about—Burisma’s and Hunter’s corrupt conduct in Ukraine: . . ."

. . ."What this means is that Hunter can be called before Congress to testify as to every single detail of his acts on behalf of the Biden family business. His choice will be to implicate his dad or to go to prison for contempt—and I don’t see Pam Bondi being squeamish about those contempt charges. My guess is that Hunter, whose hard drive showed him to be a seething mass of anger, resentment, and entitlement, won’t mind shivving his father if it means keeping himself safe." . . .

Picture Biden pleading with Trump to pardon Hunter for those crimes; pleading with the man whose assassination he promoted in his several speeches outside Philadelphia's Freedom Hall, the SOTU, and the Democrat Convention. Who can ever forget Biden's face twisted in hate for Donald Trump during those speeches

Biden Pardons Hunter on All Charges and Anything Else He Might Have Committed Since 2014 Legal Insurrection

Hunter pleaded guilty to tax evasion. He was going to face sentencing on December 16 for lying on a federal form by saying he was not using drugs or addicted to drugs when trying to buy a gun.

President Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter despite the White House saying over and over he would not do it.

The pardon includes charges Hunter faced or might have faced from January 1, 2014, through December 1, 2024.

Yes, ten years. Absolute insanity. That means anything else that pops up in that time period doesn’t count. Hunter cannot face any charges.

"Biden wrote in a press release:

From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.

The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election. Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room – with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases.

“I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision,” Biden concluded." . . .

Eric Holder appears out of the woodwork to justify Hunter Biden pardon, argues ATF Form 4473 is irrelevant

. . ."Who knew that the legal system had caveats for members of the Obama-Biden-Democrat cartel? Just kidding, the Hunter Biden pardon is just one more datum point in a long trend of corruption."

Naturally Biden always spawns parody:

Hundreds of J6 defendants change their name to Hunter Biden to get in on Joe Biden’s blanket pardon of his son

. . .“ 'We believe that by changing our names to Hunter Biden, we will be able to take advantage of the Biden administration’s generosity and receive a blanket pardon just like his son,” said one J6 defendant. “It’s only fair that we should also be able to avoid accountability for our actions on January 6th.”  . . .

Harris campaign still asking for donations weeks after massive loss to Trump

" 'Getting fundraising requests after any candidate has lost, when they admit that they are still millions of dollars in debt, having blown through over a billion dollars… is especially galling," Democratic strategist Jon Reinish told the New York Post." . .  .

" 'Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign still has its hand out for donations, weeks after losing the election to President-elect Trump.

" 'With Trump nominating MAGA loyalists left and right, there is nothing more important than making sure we can fight back and hold him accountable," an email from Kamala HQ sent to the New York Post last week read. "That’s why we need you to step up today. Yes, today."

" 'Our records show that you haven’t pitched in to support our Harris Fight Fund program yet," the email continued, according to the New York Post. "We know the election didn’t turn out as we’d hoped, but we’re not backing down."

"Trump was declared the victor in the presidential election last month, ultimately securing 312 electoral votes to Harris’ 226, and earning the popular vote as well. The election also included the Republican Party reclaiming the Senate and maintaining control of the House.

. . ."Political candidates ending a campaign with debt is not out of the norm, but some Democrats remarked that repeated emails calling on voters to donate following the election is likely eroding trust.

"I understand that the Harris campaign is in a very difficult position with the debt that they have, and so sometimes you just have to make practical decisions," Mike Nellis, founder of the Democratic digital firm Authentic, told Politico. "But yeah, I think that stuff like that erodes trust." . . .

Trump Teases Jan. 6 Rioter Pardons After Biden Pardons His Son—Here’s Who Else Trump Might Pardon

Here’s Who's On Trump’s Potential Pardon List  "President-elect Donald Trump responded to President Joe Biden’s pardoning of his son Hunter Biden by again raising the possibility he could pardon Jan. 6 rioters—among a string of controversial figures Trump has suggested he could pardon after taking office.

Jan. 6 rioters: Trump asked in a Truth Social post “does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?” after Biden announced Sunday, in a surprise move, that he had pardoned his son Hunter Biden for his felony conviction for lying on a federal gun form and his guilty plea for felony tax violations.

Trump has said repeatedly he would pardon people convicted in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, though it’s unclear who among the more than 1,500 charged would be subject to pardons; he told reporters in July “if they’re innocent, I would pardon them,” while his campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told the Washington Post in June Trump would decide “on a case-by-case basis” who to pardon.

Ross Ulbricht: Supporters of Ulbricht—sentenced in 2015 to life in prison for creating and operating the dark web marketplace Silk Road—tweeted days after Trump won the election “ROSS IS COMING HOME IN JANUARY,” after Trump pledged while speaking at the Libertarian National Convention in May that “on Day One, I will commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht” (commutation is different from a pardon as it does not absolve an individual of guilt, but instead reduces their sentence).

Peter Navarro: Trump left open the possibility he would pardon his former trade adviser—who served a four-month prison sentence earlier this year on charges of contempt of Congress for defying a congressional subpoena in connection with the House Jan. 6 Committee probe—telling reporters after voting in Florida on Election Day “he’s a good man, he was treated very unfairly,” calling Navarro a “great patriot” when asked if he would pardon him.

Navarro told the Wall Street Journal in May he would reject any pardon offer from Trump, because he wants to continue appealing his conviction, writing in a letter sent from prison, “I will not give the Supreme Court any excuse to duck what is otherwise a landmark constitutional case.” . . .

. . . Can Trump Pardon Himself?   "The legality of the scenario is unclear as Trump is the first person elected president to have been convicted of a crime, but Trump previously dismissed the idea, telling NBC News last year, prior to his Manhattan hush money conviction, it was “very unlikely” he’d pardon himself, because he “didn’t do anything wrong.” Legal scholars are split on whether the Constitution would permit him to do so. George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley noted in a 2018 USA Today column that “there is no language” in the Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, which lays out the terms for presidential pardons, that specifies “who may or may not be the subject of a pardon,” leaving open the possibility the president could pardon himself, though Turley writes that “it would be a disastrous idea.” Others, including . . .   Keep reading...

Hunter Biden pardoned; surprise, surprise, surprise!

The American Catholic   "No surprise, although Joe Biden claimed on numerous occasions that he would not pardon his son.  I bet he will go on to pardon his, Joe’s, brother, his other partner in crime, and perhaps himself.  Of course with the pardon Hunter will have difficulty claiming the fifth in subsequent investigations, and if he commits perjury, he could be charged for that."

Trump Wants Hostages Released by Hamas by Inauguration Day

 The Gateway Pundit

"The big picture: There are still 101 hostages being held in Gaza by Hamas, including seven American citizens. Israeli intelligence services believe roughly half of them are still alive." . . .

Kfir Bibas, youngest hostage and family members are dead

"More than 100 hostages, including many American citizens, have been held by the terror group Hamas since the October 7th attacks on Israel.

" 'The Biden/Harris administration has done little to nothing to get these people released safely and some of them have already been killed. Trump is planning to change that and has already signaled that he wants the hostages released by Inauguration Day.

" 'Anyone who remembers Trump’s first administration will recall that Trump has an extremely successful record on bringing home Americans being held abroad.

"This news comes via Senator Lindsey Graham, speaking to Axios:

Exclusive: Trump wants Gaza ceasefire deal before inauguration, Graham says

President-elect Trump wants to see a ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza before he assumes office on Jan. 20, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told Axios in an interview.

Why it matters: Getting a Gaza deal is one of President Biden’s top priorities during his last two months in office, but the lack of any clear progress in recent weeks suggests it might land on Trump’s plate.

– Israeli officials believe the Trump administration might take a different approach to Gaza, specifically on what the “day after” the war would look like.

– But Graham — who speaks with Trump frequently and advises him on foreign policy, especially on the Middle East — said Trump wants a deal to free the hostages and end the war as soon as possible, preferably before he takes office.

Know the Signs!

The American Catholic  "News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

"Alcoholism is a dangerous condition affecting millions across the United States each and every year, from the poorest among us to even very powerful government officials. It’s important to know when you have a problem so you can seek the help you need. Here are nine signs to look for when determining if you are an alcoholic:"

  1. Your sentences often don’t make sense. – If you find yourself saying things like “the significance of the passage of time” or “space connects us all,” you might want to seek help.
  2. You sometimes wake up in the morning to find you posted embarrassing videos on the internet. – Drunk-posting is a sign your life is out of control.
  3. You wake up from alcohol-induced blackouts with fragmented memories of having run for president. – If you’re having vague flashes of Beyonce, Lizzo, and Mark Hamill all endorsing you for president and calling you “brat,” you need help.
  4. You make poor decisions like picking Tim Walz as your VP. – Alcoholism can inhibit our decision-making, and this can affect our lives and careers in negative ways.
  5. You find yourself drinking during stressful times such as difficult work days, cabinet meetings, and presidential debates. – Being drunk during big career moments is a sign you are a slave to alcohol.
  6. Your head hurts a lot in the mornings, as though you just fell out of a coconut tree. – If you find yourself saying, “Doug, get the ibuprofen” every morning, take a good, long look in the mirror.
  7. You drink in unsafe situations such as while you’re in control of a motor vehicle or while you’re in control of an entire country. – Driving a car, or a country, under the influence is illegal and dangerous.

NY Gov. Kathy Hochul Now Says She Will Assist President Trump’s Deportation Force to Get Rid of Illegals with Criminal Backgrounds (Video)

. . .“But I’ll tell you this, those who come here legally, we want to get them jobs. I have 460,000 open jobs in the state of New York. I want them to get the proper work permits. I want them to keep their temporary protective status, if that’s what they have. I want to make sure that they’re part of contributing to society while they’re here.”

"“That’s separate from people who are criminals. Someone breaks the law, I’ll be the first one to call up ICE and say, ‘Get them out of here.'”

"“There is a difference in categories of individuals. I just had a meeting this morning with my team that’s been studying all the scenarios that could play out over the next few months and what we need to do to prepare. We’ll be announcing more about that. And also making sure that our final requests to the Biden administration are secure. And so that’s something else.”

“Again, I’ll do a report on what we’ve achieved in the next couple of weeks.”

"A reporter asked for clarification, “Just to be clear, are you supportive or not supportive of deporting undocumented immigrants whose only crime is either crossing the border or overstaying?”

" 'If they’re here with legal papers, like they came and they were seeking asylum, like this 224,000 people came to New York, they’re here legally in search of asylum, and that process will play out.”

“ 'But there are other people who commit crimes or are known to be criminals before they arrived here. When those are identified, I’ll be the first one to help get rid of them. I don’t want them here. I don’t want anybody terrorizing my citizens. So that’s the difference.' ”

Don’t Let the Left Do to Pete Hegseth What It Did to Brett Kavanaugh

Don’t Let the Left Do to Pete Hegseth What It Did to Brett Kavanaugh

It’s become a familiar story.

"A man is about to reach an upper echelon of public life when an accusation from his past resurfaces.

"Sometimes it’s a bad joke made in a woman’s presence or a rebuffed advance while the man was in a supervisor role.

"Other times it’s far more serious accusations of assault.

"The latter is what is happening right now to Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth.

"It’s the Brett Kavanaugh show all over again."
