The Climate Change Watermelon Juggernaut & The Prescience Of Michael Crichton

Bookworm Room
The late Michael Crichton figured out 15 years ago that the climate change juggernaut is a Leftist faith, intended to rework the economy, not true science.

. . . "With virtually unlimited money and power at stake, the watermelons (green outside, red inside) are pushing harder than ever to put the U.S. on a path to green Nirvana, where ostensible mitigation of anthropogenic climate change justifies every conceivable regulation, law, and tax, as well as the reordering of our economy and Constitution.

"Before starting up this post, some facts many of you might not know.  The US has been reducing carbon emissions for years, more so than any other country.  In 2017, we produced less carbon than we did in 2005.  Indeed, we produced 40,000,000 metric tonnes of CO2 less than we did even in 2016.  We accomplished that without regulation — for all those Obama regs were rolled back by 2017 — and without implementing authoritarian government.  Yet you will hear no progressive acknowledge those facts in any of the numerous links below.   Those are inconvenient facts, and the climate change push is faith based.
"The average American is not very concerned with the climate change issue.  According to NBC, climate change did not even register as a concern among voters in 2018.  But understand that the climate change movement is a juggernaut.  It is the single most important issue for progressive left politicians, both foreign and domestic, and their cronies in the private sector, public sector, and academia, all of whom stand to benefit beyond the imagining from the most lucrative scam in history.
"Within the past two weeks, once and future Speaker of the House, Crazy Nancy, announced that House Democrats will establish a “Select Committee on the Climate Crisis” as soon as they are seated as the majority.  The NYT is running near daily editorials on climate change as the world’s most pressing issue, claiming Trump is evil and everyone who does not embrace the Paris Accords, a carbon tax, and every other thing the left demands to save us from climate-ageddon is mentally and morally defective.  On his latest edition of Meet The Press, NBC’s Chuck Todd devoted the entire hour-long show to anthropogenic climate change, though the panel ONLY included those pushing the canard and demanding government action.  As justification for the completely stacked panel, Todd stated:
“We’re not going to debate climate change, the existence of it… Human activity is a major cause, period. We’re not going to give time to climate deniers. The science is settled, even if political opinion is not.”
"And the Democrat’s newest and shiniest, Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, with the support of Bernie the Red, recently published her plan for a Green New Deal, as part and parcel of reforming of our nation into a socialist utopia.   Bottom line, this is the number one issue for the progressive left, and we ignore it at our extreme peril.
"I say extreme peril because once you can tax and regulate carbon dioxide produced by man (which is only about 10% of the total amount produced naturally every year, as the earth is responsible for the rest), AND once you establish it as the greatest moral issue facing mankind, the dam breaks.  The proggies will have their hands in a bottomless cookie jar with no one to stop them from gorging short of a civil war." . . .

CNN plans climate change town hall after staffer reveals plan to sell climate 'fear' in leaked recording

CNN plans climate change town hall after staffer reveals plan to sell climate 'fear' in leaked recording   "Technical director told Project Veritas climate change will be 'next COVID thing' for CNN"

"CNN is set to host a live town hall with senior Biden administration officials this weekend on the topic of climate change, weeks after a network employee told an undercover journalist the network planned to push "fear" about the issue.

"The town hall, moderated by CNN anchor Dana Bash, will focus on "The Climate Crisis" and will air on Friday night to mark this year's celebration of Earth Day, the network announced.

"The participants include Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, all of whom will be asked about Biden's campaign promise to remake American climate policy.

"Earlier this month, right-wing guerilla news outlet Project Veritas published a series of explosive conversations between one of its reporters and a CNN technical director named Charles Chester. In one of the conversations, Chester revealed that following the "COVID fatigue" from CNN's coverage of the pandemic, the network will "start focusing mainly on climate.' " . . .

""Our focus was to get Trump out of office," Chester said. "Without saying it, that's what it was, right? So our next thing is going to be for climate change awareness."

" 'Do you think it's going to be just like a lot of like fear for the climate?" the undercover journalist asked.

" 'Yeah. Fear sells," Chester responded.

" 'Who decides that?" the journalist asked.

" 'The head of the network," Chester answered.

" 'Who's that? Is that Zucker?" she followed, referring to CNN President Jeff Zucker.

" 'Zucker, yeah," Chester replied.

"In another exchange, Chester repeated that climate change is "going to be the next COVID thing for CNN" that "we're going to hone in on.' " . . .

Chester: “It's going to be our [CNN’s] focus. Like our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, that's what it was, right? So, our next thing is going to be for climate change awareness.” "
Chester: “We would always show shots of him [Biden] jogging and that [he’s] healthy, you know, and him in aviator shades. Like you paint him as a young geriatric.”
"Chester went on to say that COVID-19 media coverage should be coming to an end in the near future. He added that CNN is already preparing its shift in coverage to push and promote climate change fear."
“ 'I think there's a COVID fatigue. So, like whenever a new story comes up, they're [CNN’s] going to latch onto it. They've already announced in our office that once the public is -- will be open to it -- we're going to start focusing mainly on climate,” Chester said.
"Chester: It's going to be our [CNN’s] focus. Like our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, that's what it was, right? So, our next thing is going to be climate change awareness.
"Veritas Journalist: “What does that look like?”
"Chester: “I don't know. I'm not sure. I have a feeling that it’s going to be like, constantly showing videos of decline in ice, and weather warming up, and like the effects it’s having on the economy--' ” . . .

US Navy Sinks Obama’s Climate Change Task Force

If the sea level does rise, it will be because of all the liberal tears.

"The US Navy has announced that it is jettisoning the Obama-era Climate Change Task Force.
The US Navy quietly shuttered a task force created under former President Barack Obama to prepare the military branch for the impact of global warming, reportedly saying the team was “no longer needed”.
Its ending, which happened in March and was first reported on Tuesday by the environmental site E&E News, reflects a trend under Donald Trump in which federal agencies have shuttered operations designed to combat climate change nationwide and around the world.
"Created in 2009, group was tasked with researching methods to adapt to security challenges caused by climate change.
"It appears that the Navy didn’t pursue climate change policies as robustly as progressives in the Obama administration initially envisioned.
But the sense of urgency that flowed through the reports between 2010 and 2019 neither buoyed the Navy’s climate change group nor sparked major reforms across the armed forces.
Retired Rear Adm. Jon White, who spearheaded Task Force Climate Change from 2012 to 2015, told E&E News that he saw “little evidence” that the research undertaken by the Navy and scientific community has even been implemented in any of the military’s environmental strategies.
“Across all of the Department of Defense, it is hard for me to see that climate change is taken as seriously as it should be,” said White, now the president of the Consortium for Ocean Leadership.
“The task force ended, in my opinion, without full incorporation of climate change
"I suspect the non-politically motivated service men and women in our Navy has other priorities, such as new technology that can be used against adversaries." . . .

Greta Thunberg and Other Child Hostages Obey Their Climate Captors

"It would be easy to ignore Thunberg as the climate cabal’s latest pawn, but every parent should pay attention. Thunberg (not to mention millions like her) is the product of more than two decades of dangerous climate propaganda. They are hostages to their adult climate captors – from presidents to celebrities to teachers and religious leaders."

Intellectual Takeout.

September 20, 2019; "On Friday, schoolchildren around the world will be prompted to walk out of class as part of the “Global Climate Strike.” These young “climate strikers” will protest alleged inaction on climate change and promote an end to fossil fuel use.

“ 'Our house is on fire – let’s act like it. We demand climate justice for everyone,” the event’s website warns.
"It is the latest stunt orchestrated by the international climate cabal and yet another example of how the left shamelessly exploits and manipulates children to propagandize any cause. (Think of the high school students in Parkland, Florida.) But this time, the climate cabal is using a special-needs teenager from Sweden to indoctrinate more children and adults with climate change dogma.

"In a way, Thunberg is not the face of a climate crisis but an alarming example of how the climate cabal has needlessly terrified two generations of young people. The emotional, physical, and intellectual damage wrought by the climate change movement now is coming into clear view and it’s an outcome that should enrage every parent.

"Watching Thunberg speak evokes a combination of sadness, pity, and anger. She’s diminutive and far more childlike in her mannerisms and presentation than a typical teenager. It’s unclear whether she truly grasps the issue she is promoting – what is clear is that many adults are using her to generate sympathy and support for a dangerous crusade that they, as grown-ups, cannot carry out on their own.

"Thunberg, the story goes, became so distraught over climate change that she briefly dropped out of school in 2018 to protest the Swedish parliament. Her climate trauma began at age 8, when she first started hearing tales of climate doom at school." . . .

UPDATE: Sept 23:  The Tragedy Of Greta ThunbergOur Lady of Sorrows
. . . "It’s the fault of ideologues who obsess over every weather event as if it were Armageddon, ignoring the massive moral upside of carbon-fueled modernity. It’s the politicians, too cowardly to tell voters that their utopian notion of a world fueled by solar panels and windmills is fairy tale.
"It’s the fault of media that ignores overwhelming evidence that, on balance, climate change isn’t undermining human flourishing. By nearly every quantifiable measure, in fact, we are better off because of fossil fuels — though there is no way to measure the human spirit, I’m afraid." . . .

What’s behind climate change activist Greta Thunberg’s remarkable rise to fame?
. . . "Less than a year ago, she was an unknown schoolgirl from Sweden, albeit an unusual one: she is the daughter of a famous opera singer and an actor. Thunberg also has Asperger’s syndrome, obsessive-compulsive disorder and selective mutism." . . .
. . . "Thunberg’s school strike had coincided neatly with the launch of a book about climate change written by her mother, Malena Ernman. Is this a coincidence? It looks less like one when you learn . . . "
. . . "But now, the ‘Wizard of Oz’ outfits and the pigtails look to be less odd and more calculated: the careful packaging of a product so that it gets noticed rather than an unusual penchant for 1950s fashion. What we have seen is surely an example of marketing genius rather than a miraculous stroke of luck." . . .

Remember, media cheering Paris Climate Change Agreement will cover 2016 election

comicallyincorrect.com
Remember, media cheering Paris Climate Change Agreement will cover 2016 election  "Here’s something you may have missed over the weekend. While most Americans are concerned about terrorism and the growth of ISIS, President Obama and other world leaders met in Paris to discuss climate change.
"When an agreement was reached, journalists reacted like excited teenage girls.

"T. Becket Adams of the Washington Examiner has the story:
"Reporters shout, jump for joy after climate change agreement" . . .

"Whether they realize it or not, this is what those “journalists” are cheering for.
"CNS News reports:
Paris Climate Deal Calls for America to Transfer Wealth to ‘Developing’ Countries . . .  Full article
Climate change and economic growth  "We have a climate change deal!  We have a climate change deal!  Or so they say in Paris.
"The deal has two problems.
"First, it has no enforcement mechanism.  In other words, we can't force anyone to do anything.  Secretary Kerry confirmed it Sunday.  This is a deal that means nothing, because no one will put sanctions on anyone who is polluting the air or burning too many gallons of fossil fuel.
"Second, the dirty little secret about climate change is that it impacts economic growth, as Eduardo Porter wrote:" . . .

Climate-Change Activists Are the Real Science Deniers

016 ; Photographed by Walter Cunningham, Apollo 7, October 11-22, 1968 Digital c-print; 24.5"x24.5"; edition 50 Transparency NASA; digital image ©1999 Michael Light:

National Review  "The epithet “climate denier,” intended to invoke Holocaust denial, has always been tasteless and inapt. Climate change is not like the Holocaust, nor is questioning the accuracy and predictive power of a scientific model like questioning the historical fact of a genocide that murdered 6 million Jews. But climate activists delighted in defining their opposition this way, with help from prominent figures such as Barack Obama, who in 2014 used Twitter to condemn “climate change deniers” and promote a website, run by Organizing for Action (formerly Obama for America), that featured large black-and-white pictures of then–House speaker John Boehner and Senator Marco Rubio atop a green “Climate Change Deniers” banner. “On climate,” asked the site’s headline, “whose side are you on?”
Image result for gore shining
"For a while, this seemed to work. Framing the climate debate as one between noble keepers of the scientific flame and people akin to Nazis gave the former group license to say almost anything. To the casual observer, even the most egregious exaggeration about climate science could seem reasonable compared with its outright rejection. Thus, Obama’s assertion in his 2015 State of the Union address that “no challenge — no challenge — poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change” became widely accepted. When Senator Bernie Sanders warned during a presidential debate that “the scientific community is telling us that if we do not address the global crisis of climate change . . . the planet that we’re going to be leaving our kids and our grandchildren may well not be habitable,” he was not laughed off the stage.  (California's drought is forever!)

"Often, the politicians and pundits targeted with the “denier” label did deserve blame. Ignoring the best available scientific research — an obvious starting point in any other policy debate — was irresponsible or dishonest. Their arguments rarely emerged from any valuable scientific insight, but usually from a fear that acknowledging the scientific basis of climate change would mean accepting radical and costly responses. This was doubly counterproductive: Not only did it grant by default a mainstream foothold to outlandishly overblown climate fears, but also it sidelined and undermined more important and compelling policy-based objections to the activist agenda." . . .

Climate Change is the usual scapegoat

RedState

"I think I have figured out why Democrats are so wedded to the climate change narrative, even when it doesn’t make sense or isn’t supported by the evidence. The reason is that they have figured out that, to their own scientifically illiterate voters, climate change works as a universally applicable scapegoat. Why bother informing yourself about literally any issue under the sun when you can just blame anything that is going wrong on climate change and know that at least liberal voters will believe it.

"The latest example of this is California Governor Jerry Brown, who is blaming the recent spate of wildfires on climate change. Wildfires in California have been an issue since as at least as long as I’ve been alive, so it seems that the connection is tenuous at best. And, indeed, even people who are committed believers in climate change were forced to note that, even under the assumption that climate change is real and man made, Brown’s comments were completely full of crap:
The ash of the Rocky fire was still hot when Gov. Jerry Brown strode to a bank of television cameras beside a blackened ridge and, flanked by firefighters, delivered a battle cry against climate change.

Global war....er, climate change; all powerful, all knowing, more omnipotent than the Creator

Is There Anything Climate Change Can’t Do?
"Just when you thought the climate change superhero could do it all, it outdid itself by causing Brexit and diabetes."
. . .  "Suppose I told you that during a similar time period, the number of people who drowned by falling into a pool correlated with the films Nicolas Cage appeared in? Or that per capita cheese consumption correlated with the number of people who died by becoming tangled in their bedsheets? Look at the graphs and see the correlation. Anyone believe these are cause and effect results rather than interesting but spurious associations?" . . .
. . . "Instead the media agenda is that climate change is caused by man and that urgent government intervention, in the form of new taxes and regulations, is the only way to stop it.
"Is the climate changing? Of course. It always has and always will. Is human activity contributing and how much? Unknown. Can corrective human efforts change anything? Doubtful, but also unknown." . . .

"As promised, President Donald Trump has issued an “energy independence” executive order to undo several of the Obama administration’s climate change regulations.
"To the benefit of all Americans who desire affordable, dependable energy, the executive order will help energy companies establish some independence from overzealous regulators.
"Here’s what the order does:
Orders the Environmental Protection Agency to review and repeal, or revise, the Clean Power Plan.

Is There Anything Environmentalists Won't Blame On Climate Change?

They also know that the climate is always changing. (Take a trip to the Grand Canyon if you don't believe it.)  And the public knows that not everything bad that is happening today can possibly be the result of a less-than-1-degree Celsius increase in average global temperatures over the past 100 years.

Investors  "Climate Change: CNN this week published a huge story saying the source of the migrant caravan wasn't so much corrupt Central American governments, violence or lousy economic policies. It was climate change. This is just the latest attempt by environmentalists to blame any and all bad news — even acne  on climate change.

"The CNN story, complete with pictures, videos and charts, claims that climate change is responsible for the drought in parts of Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua that forced thousands to flee for the U.S.

"Well, not "responsible," exactly. The author admits part way through that "Studies have not definitively tied this particular drought to climate change."
. . .
"In other words, the entire premise of story is pretty much bunk. The best the CNN reporter could come up with is that "computer models show droughts like the one happening now are becoming more common as the world warms."

"Why would you need computer models to tell you what is supposedly happening right now? Probably because in the U.S., at least, there's been no increase in droughts since the 1890s.

"Unfortunately, playing fast and loose with the facts and jumping to wild conclusions is now the standard operating procedure when it comes to global warming." . . . Full article here:

New Zealand Government climate change policies

New Zealand Government climate change policies
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern
"Since the 2017 General Election the Labour-led New Zealand Government has begun pursing reforms designed achieve sustainable development that makes the just transition to a low-carbon economy.
"The Government is committed to meeting the Paris Agreement target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 30 percent below 2005 levels by 2030, and has signaled it intends to do this in a way that provides for a just transition for workers, families and communities reliant on affected industries.
"This Paper will outline the Government’s climate change programme.
"Zero Carbon Act: On 18 December 2017 Minister for Climate Change James Shaw announced Cabinet had agreed to a process of consultation to formulate the Zero Carbon Act, which aims to reduce New Zealand’s emissions to net zero by 2050.
" The Act would establish an independent Climate Change Commission to provide long-term nonpartisan advice to the government of the day, ensuring New Zealand stays on track to meet its climate change goals.
"The Labour-Green Party confidence and supply agreement states the Government should “request the Climate Commission to plan the transition to 100% renewable electricity by 2035 (which includes geothermal) in a normal hydrological year.”
"The Labour-NZ First coalition agreement states that “if the Climate Commission determines that agriculture is to be included in the ETS, then upon entry, the free allocation to agriculture will be 95% but with all revenues from this source recycled back into agriculture in order to encourage agricultural innovation, mitigation and additional planting of forestry.” "The Government intends to stimulate up to $1b of new investment in low carbon industries by 2020, assisted by a Government-backed Green Investment Fund of $100m.
"The Government plans to introduce a Zero Carbon Bill by the end of October 2018, followed by a Select Committee process in late 2018 to 2019. The intention is to pass the Zero Carbon Act in 2019.
"Draft Government Policy Statement (GPS) on land transport Released on 14 March 2018, the draft GPS outlines the Government’s priorities for expenditure from the National Land Transport Fund over the next 10 years.
"In the environmental sense, the GPS:
 • Makes land transport funding mode neutral, enabling a shift to lower emission forms of transport including rail, walking, cycling and lower emission vehicles (such as electric vehicles);  • Recognises the importance of urban planning to creating livable cities that value public space and improve access;  • Links to the wider environmental commitments of the Government, including the meeting of Paris climate targets and ambitious emissions reduction targets; and • Recognises the public health benefits of reducing transport emissions and increasing uptake of walking and cycling.
"Ban on offshore gas exploration: On 12 April 2018 the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced there would be no further offshore oil and gas exploration permits granted. The policy is intended to help New Zealand transition towards a low-carbon economy.
"Existing exploration and mining rights will not be affected, and no current jobs will be lost as all agreements with current permit holders will be honoured. Existing permits extend as far out as 2030 and could last an additional 40 years under a mining permit.
"Measures to ensure a just transition: On 6 April 2018 Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones and Parliamentary UnderSecretary Fletcher Tabuteau launched the Tapuae Roa: Make Way for Taranaki Action Plan with the Taranaki region.
"The Taranaki economy has traditionally been reliant on the oil and gas industries. Through $20m from the Provincial Growth Fund and $16m contributed by the Taranaki region, a plan to transition to a modern, high-value economy will be undertaken.
"In addition, the Government has announced its Fees Free policy to assist with retraining. "This policy provides for an initial one year (scaling to three years over time) of free post-school education during a person’s lifetime. "

Concerns over the NZ policy:
What idiots! The entire New Zealand contribution to manmade CO2 will be replaced in one week of China's and India's new coal fired power plants now under contruction. But the impact on NZ's economy will be forever.

"Extremely poor science! There are two types of Climate change! One is nature; volcano's, sunspot, wind,..this include the elements. if you remove all the Carbon (which you can't) you will burn to death. Due the Sun's ray reaching earth without any obstruction! The obstruction is the green house gasess! the second is more or less destruction of the earth though ignoring the laws of nature! Disrupting natures cycles, will and does end up disaster!"

Inconvenient Truth: 32 Climate Predictions Proven False

 Facts Matter - YouTube

Comment to this video: I'm 57, I still remember being told as a teenager that there was a "New Ice Age" coming, then in the 90s it became "Global Warming" and now it's "Climate Change".

Comments to the above video: "I'm 58 years old and I remember all through elementary school teachers scaring us with these ridiculous predictions. My parents would always assure me the world would be just fine. As I got older, it all became laughable and still is to this day. As always, your reporting is spot on."

"Gotta love how all of these predictions turned out to be false, but all the articles are written like they are without a doubt 100% true and facts. The cherry on top is them deleting the articles when they turn out to be false, they should be held accountable for spreading all this misinformation.

"When I was younger, I was all in on "saving the environment" and all that jazz, until I got into my teen years and started to realize that every new environmental crisis had the exact same 20 year deadline, and then when I got into my actual 20s and realized that the predictions from when I was a kid that were supposed to have happened didn't come to pass, I paid a lot more attention and saw how they keep moving the goalposts, I lost all faith in them. See, the thing is, moving the goalposts 20 years ahead is a perfect number for their doomsday predictions as it's just soon enough that most people alive now will still be alive to see it, but it's far enough out that they can claim "changes made that they started" were responsible for their predictions not coming true."....

"This video ought to be shown to every child. Thanks for sharing this. To the point here I'll keep it short. My grandfather was a professor or meteorology at a largeish university. Around the year 2000 he was asked to speak at a climate conference. He started his speech with this statement. "Global warming is the biggest farce ever pulled on mankind". Those were the only words from his speech he managed to get out. He was promptly removed from the podium and asked to leave the conference. This whole charade is about power and control. The actual science is ignored or the data is twisted to further the agenda. And that is truly all it is. An agenda..." More at this site.
